  1. This Toyota Wish was treated better than I was when growing up. Watch the video to see why. What happened? At Gelang Patah R&R, a Toyota Wish was spotted being given some special treatment while refuelling. It was gently rocked by its driver and assisted by an attendant in a tender effort to quench the car’s thirst for fuel. I’m jealous. Why couldn’t my parents treat me this way? Looking at this did make me curious though. Does shaking the car do anything at all? Short answer: No. Nope. First, your car has a fixed capacity fuel tank (duh), if it is not fixed and can somehow fill up indefinitely, please contact us at [email protected]. However, the theory is that when filling up petrol there are air pockets that form during the process. This reduces the amount of petrol that one can pump into their car, wasting time and money. Think of it like a soft drink can, where there’s always air in the can so the can is never truly full. However, rocking isn’t the way to solve this. In CNA’s Talking Point episode 32, the director of Mister Garage, Vincent Emmanuel Lee debunked this myth, saying “When we pump the petrol into the tank, it creates foam and vapour (which) occupies the tank. When we wait for the vapour and foam to dissipate, that's when you can pump more petrol into the tank.” This makes shaking ineffective as everything is already at the top instead of within the liquid. Online chatter Back to our usual Facebook clownery, people made fun of the shaking and rightfully deemed it useless. However, some people took offense to the footage being recorded in the first place, saying the person who took the footage had nothing better to do as the driver did nothing illegal. Writer’s thoughts: I was treated very well as a kid I just needed to get your attention for this article lol. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR – A Toyota Wish with p-plates dangerously cuts in front of a cam car, beats the red light and almost gets t-boned by another car There’s a reason why car insurance companies charge a premium for new drivers. This 62-second video is one of the reasons: What happened? The video starts off by highlighting the exciting bits (think that’s the format SGRV is going for these days). A Toyota Wish dangerously cuts in front of the cam car and it looks like it’s a very tight pocket of space too. But, that’s not all, the Wish then blatantly beats the red light too! Which then also results in another car almost t-boning it. The heck is wrong with this driver? How many demerit points? Let’s count the number of demerit points this new driver racked up shall we? Failing to conform to traffic signals – 12 points Reckless or dangerous driving (where no hurt is caused) – 24 points Stats taken from: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/ - it's legit That’s a whopping 36 points! There are some people who commented that new drivers now only have 12 points to lose instead of the 13 I had in my time (I’m old dammit). But, even so, 36 is way past 12 or 13! Online Chatter Important to note that whether hurt or no hurt was caused, it’s a straight 24-point deduction. With hurt could include a higher fine or possibly jail time. This driver needs to get a call from Singapore Traffic Police and think about his/her actions for the next two years before being allowed to retake a new license. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Wish come true: American exchange student thirsts for NS boys, now they're simping for her https://www.asiaone.com/singapore/wish-come-true-american-exchange-student-thirsts-ns-boys-now-theyre-simping-her?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR1VVfx_Qw2Zx2lH6INC5vkxILGO5dvf9555geTE06CfJJX2g4MFVse1id0#Echobox=1663299953 SEPTEMBER 16, 2022 PUBLISHED AT 11:31 AM By CLAUDIA TAN Sarah posted TikTok videos of herself thirsting for NS boys, and eventually ended up receiving several emails from them asking her out. TikTok/PriestessPrincess Some say that finding a girlfriend while serving National Service (NS) is a Herculean task, but it looks like some of our ah boys might have just found their princess. This 'princess' is none other than Sarah, who is more well-known by her TikTok handle, PriestessPrincess. Since arriving in Singapore in August on exchange, the 21-year-old American has managed to get several NS boys simping for her. Her secret? A series of thirst videos she's been posting, talking about how she finds them attractive. "I realised [I was attracted to NS boys] before I even arrived in Singapore, having known a few of them in the States. But it really came to life when I came to Singapore and saw men in uniform roaming the streets. I thought, 'Wow, they look so handsome and brave,'" she told AsiaOne. Following that video, Sarah, who declined to give her full name, uploaded several POV (point-of-view) videos showing different scenarios. One of these includes imagining what it'd be like to have an NS boy whisper the eight SAF Core Values into her ear, while another involves her heading to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange on a Friday evening to seek some recruits out. She's also mentioned that she could watch Ah Boys To Men "all day" — something that Jack Neo might be pleased to hear. When asked by AsiaOne about why she finds them attractive, Sarah quips: "I mean, who doesn't like men in uniform? Maybe I find them attractive because [they're] new to me. Either way, I find it attractive how they are protecting one of the greatest nations in the world." What about the uniformed men back home then? Sarah says she never really considered them as she doesn't see them as often where she lives. "Army guys [in the States] just aren't as integrated into everyday life as NS guys are in Singapore," she explained. And it seems like her wish did come true after all. On August 31, she posted a video showing screenshots of several emails that she received from NS boys wanting to meet her once they book out. "Babe, I want to see you at Expo MRT more than any other NSimp. I rather see you there than my own parents," said one of them in his email. Even men who had already completed their National Service ORD-ed tried to shoot their shot: "I'm a former National Serviceman and I was a firefighter from SCDF but I'm already Operationally Ready and I still have the uniform! Are you still okay with that?" "I have responded to a few emails. I mostly respond to DMs, and I've actually met some amazing NS guys and made great friends. I've even had my heart broken by one," said Sarah. Despite the love that she has received, Sarah has also gotten her fair share of flak from netizens who seem rather irked at her professed love for NS boys. "Not every Singaporean guy finds you attractive bro," said one netizen. Seeing these comments on her videos, Sarah shared they initially made her feel "really upset", especially since she had only recently arrived in Singapore. "It felt for a second like the entirety of Singapore hated me for something that was all in good fun." Thankfully, she found a way to cope with the negativity — simply by owning it. "I called myself the most 'mid' (mediocre), [the] most hated girl in Singapore, and I felt better. If they want to hate me...so be it." "So many people I’ve met in Singapore talk so negatively about NS boys, I found myself to be one of the only people sending them love."
  4. I have to admit; this has to be either one of the most bizarre or reckless driving I have seen in a long time. Watch it here: What Happened? This unfortunate accident occurred along Brickland Road and involved a Strides MG 5 electric taxi, a Toyota Wish and a van. It all started when the Strides MG 5 electric taxi emerged from a slip road towards Brickland Road and accelerated at full speed. Despite traffic forming at a traffic light up ahead, it did not occur to the Strides taxi driver to slow down. Instead, the taxi driver decided to swerve to the adjacent lane to avoid rear-ending a lorry but still rear-ended another car, a Toyota Wish. During the collision, a van also sustained damages to its rear. It is not known how many were injured in this accident. However, here's wishing all those injured a speedy recovery! At a closer glance Initially, it seems like the Strides taxi driver was driving purely recklessly, which resulted in this accident. However, after taking a closer glance, I made a rather bizarre observation - The driver's side door abruptly swung open when the MG 5 was emerging out of the slip road (Video timestamp 0:24). Could this accident be caused by a medical-related complication experienced by the taxi driver? Or was it caused by the incompetency of the taxi driver? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Netizens' Comments The aftermath of the accident looks really bad... TBH, I highly doubt anyone would intentionally drive like that. LMAO! And yes, the watermark got to go. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  5. With the widespread use of the dash cam, you will certainly come across negatively-associated incidents on social media platforms now more than ever. Compared to negatively-associated incidents, commendable acts often go unreported and are less likely to surface online. Well, not for this commendable act: What Happened? As usual, there was heavy traffic along Woodlands Avenue 12 towards Gambas since it was the peak hour. Just then, a motorcyclist gradually filtered from lane 1 to lane 2 before lane-splitting between lanes 2 and 3. He continues riding for a distance while lane splitting between lanes 2 and 3 with his left signal indicator still on. Out of the blue, the motorcyclist started veering left and ploughed into the side of a Toyota Wish before losing his balance and falling on the road. At this point, the Toyota driver realised what had happened and performed a selfless act by swerving his car to the left to avoid running over the collapsed motorcyclist. Subsequently, the Toyota driver fully mounts the kerb before crashing head-first into a tree. The collapsed motorcyclist would have had his head run over if not for the Toyota driver's swift reflexes. Kudos to the Toyota driver for his quick thinking and excellent reflexes! Right now, I am hoping for the best for both parties 🙏 Netizens' Comments Kudos to the Toyota driver!👏 Well, that could be a possible explanation to the motorcyclist's bizarre act! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. You would have probably heard the saying 'put on helmet cannot think' from your BMT sergeant or in an Ah Boys to Men movie. Sadly, it is true. And this condition affects anyone, regardless of whether you are wearing the SAF helmet or a bicycle helmet. Here's the reason why: What Happened? This ridiculous incident happened at the junction of Eu Tong Sen Street and Merchant Road. As the traffic lights turned green in the cam car's favour, an errant cyclist dashes out from the right, which caused the cam car and the car beside to perform an emergency brake. Despite the cam driver's timely reaction, the cam car halted right before the errant cyclist. As a result, the errant cyclist also had to perform an emergency brake which caused him to lose his balance. A State of Daze After the cyclist regained stability by putting one foot down, he gave the cam car and the car beside it a look, filled with incoherence. It was as though he was high/intoxicated and could not differentiate reality from fantasy. Afterwards, he continued to cycle off without any apology or remorse. What bugs me was that he had a blank expression on his face during the entire incident. Netizens' Comments It seems more like a cyclist 'thing' tho🤔 I LOL-ED at this comment. Why take such chances? If can avoid an accident, just avoid it lah. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  7. Breaking news: A silver Toyota Wish suddenly went up in flames in Yishun, producing a large cloud of smoke and a constant racket of noise. Earlier this afternoon, pedestrians and passers-by uploaded several videos of a silver Toyota Wish burning in the middle of the road. As the flames swallowed the vehicle's insides, its horn started to produce a loud and constant noise. This garnered the attention of more individuals, who then called for the police and the SCDF. In one of the videos, police officers could be seen directing traffic at the junction. Luckily, the SCDF firefighters arrived quickly at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire within a matter of seconds. Kudos to the SCDF for acting quickly! Possible causes of car fires The first possible cause of a fire like this could be a fuel system leak. Leaks are the most common cause of vehicle fires and are dangerous as they can arise independently with minimal warning. Fuel leaking onto hot metal and plastic parts cause a fast-spreading fire, which is why drivers must ensure that their vehicles are appropriately maintained to reduce the chances of a fuel system fire. The next possible cause of a car fire could be an electrical system failure starting from fault conditions between the battery and starter cables or a high voltage that can generate a spark in the spark-ignition engine. The charging cycles of a car battery can cause explosive hydrogen gas to build up, and the electrical current from the battery can produce sparks that would ignite a fluid drip or leaked vapours. An unnoticed frayed wire could cause havoc as electrical wiring runs throughout the entire car. Netizens’ reactions While we are still unsure what had started the fire, netizens were quick to speculate potential causes. ======== Witnessed an accident? See something interesting on the roads? 9. This, kids, is why they kept telling us in driving school, don't abruptly cut in front of another motorist from the left, because the odds are they won't see you, and should it be a worst case scenario.... When everyone is at the lights, all seems well. The motorcycle on the left is a GrabFood rider, and he rides off straight. It is only after the GrabFood rider goes off a little in the distance, that the Malaysian motorcycle suddenly cuts in front of the Toyota Wish, who seems to not be wanting to turn but instead going straight. Now before you blame the Toyota for "why is he going straight in a turning lane", watch the video. The lane the Toyota is on can be used to turn right or go straight. Now, I am assuming the Toyota did not turn on his right signal, indicating that he didn't want to turn at the junction, he wanted to go straight. But as the light turns green, the Malaysian motorcycle just dandily cuts in from the left and right in front of the Toyota, giving the driver barely any time to react. No matter how hard you slam on your brakes, people, cars don't cut to an immediate stop like they do in cartoons. It's called physics. Now, I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, but I believe the Toyota didn't even realise that the motorcyclist was in front of him until it was too late. But really, the Malaysian motorcyclist should have known better than to cut in front of a car in such a carefree manner. Whether you're in JB or not, I don't think most drivers would expect a motorcycle to sudden appear in front of them and prepare to turn right as one is heading straight. Ultimately, let's just hope that everyone involved in the accident is all right. Rules, people. They exist for a reason.
  10. Happy Labour Day, Singapore! Some of us are thinking of how to utilise our pay that just came in. Then, there are jokers like this Toyota Wish driver who blows it all in an instant (and more). Speeding on PIE A dashcam video of the said driver has gone viral and here are some takeaways after watching the video. No one drives a Wish to speed. It's a family MPV for goodness sake. Don't do stupid things with other people's car, much less a rental Here's the 47-second video taken from SG Road Vigilante The Wish loses control at the 0.09 mark of the video. Online chatter Wow. To the Toyota Wish driver, good luck paying for all the damages for a rental car.
  11. 19 year old Daniel is currently undergoing treatment for a rare blood cancer. He loved Subaru cars and asked Make-A-Wish to visit the Subaru factory in Japan. His wish is currently postponed due to the pandemic. Therefore, the Subaru dealers decided to organize a parade for him. There were more than 100 cars involved including Daniel favorite a 2004 WRX STI. I found this video quite touching so I decided to share
  12. I want to purchase either of them.2006 or 2007. Which is better and what are the things to look out for.
  13. hi all , anyone can advise where to get lowering springs for 2017 Toyota wish. tks
  14. Ok now that the process has completed, I would like to share about my latest motoring experience. I have owned a 2015 Vellfire for a year, and due to many reasons I shared previously, decided to change it to 2 small rides. As I did not want to pump in much cash, I could only look at rides of upto $80k each. Good thing the Vellfire was offloaded at very good price, I eventually only need to pump in another $10k. Now what can you get for less than $80k? One thing I was not keen to go PI route again unless bopian. So the typically options if getting new rides are small japanese rides like Jazz or Note, or Korean cars like basic Elantra and K3. Then I also looked at used cars which I have never done before to see if any cars worth it. Eventually I fixed my eyes on 2013 B200 which would cost about $65k which are latest model but pre-facelift. My confidence grew after I visited a few used car dealers as the condition of the cars were really good for any 5 year old cars. The leather are basically still wrinkle free and all the internal panels and buttons are still in very good condition, unlike the jap rides I have had which look old after just 2 to 3 years. Eventually I settled on 2015 B180 which is essentially the latest facelifted model. As the 2 rides are for my wife and myself, my wife wanted to get a Jazz initially but she was put off by the Jan/2019 delivery timeline. She was not keen on Elantra/K3 after seeing them in flesh. After awhile, my enthusiasm on B180/B200 rub off on her and she decided to get a B180 as well. Now I will share why I think B180/B200 is a viable alternative compare to typical jap/Korean fares. For about the same cash outlay, it is 7 years of former vs 10 years of later. I am willing to forsake the 3 years to have better motoring experience. It is a Mercedes after all, though a lesser one so to speak. After doing test drive of Jazz/Note and seeing K3/Elantra in flesh, I am ok to give up 3 years of ownership for the B-class ride. I love the B-class ride as it is almost perfect for what I want in a small car - compact on the outside, spacious in the inside, and full of all the hi-tech features in a very safe and powerful package. Imagine century sprint of 9.1sec, assist parking, integrated TPMS, latest safety features, etc ,etc.. And best of all, it is still the latest facelifted model. And I also did abit of research on ownership cost. I used to think servicing and parts for Mercedes is going to cost much more, but reality is not really that bad. For servicing, C&C offers servicing packages of 3 and 5 servicing. For B-class, it cost about $810 for 3 servicing, and $1400 for 5 servicing. If you factor in servicing interval of 15,000km for Mercedes, 3 servicing would be more than enough to cover 2 years of servicing. This means before any replacement parts, servicing cost for my case would come to $810, which is actually lower than what I was charged for my previous jap rides over the 2 year period with 4 servicing. No doubt I have to cater more for replacement parts which is going to cost more now. And the road tax I have to pay for my B180s also cost lesser than the Vellfire, $740 + $740 vs $1800. But I have to pay more for insurance. Even for petrol also I have to pay more but not much more as the FC for Vellfire is about 7.5km/L whereas B-class should get about 12km/L sasily, so not much difference. And then I have to navigate the used car dealers to get the used B180. This part is the most tricky and dreaded as have read many horror stories. Eventually I would say I am just lucky as both cars were transferred within a week of taking over the rides after finalizing the finance part. I know I should have done more by checking service records at C&C before confirming the deal but I chose to belief the STA reports and test drives and everything look and feel normal. And after owning both rides for a week and 3 weeks respectively, I have been happy with them so far. I would not be willing to shell out the money for them brand new, but pleased tat able to get them now at about 50% off their past purchase prices. I would think they are good deals for 3 year old cars. The motivation has been to try something new as not getting young anymore. And if it does not pan out well, can just sell them away and get something else that is safer. Whichever way I see there is no harm in beating this path. And right now both my wife and myself are enjoying the rides very much as it really offer much more than the typical jap/Korean fares. And if both rides are still in good shapes 7 years from now, just need to renew the COE for another 5 years. Hope this will inspire more to do the same. My apologies for the long story, as impossible to do it in 1 or 2 paragraphs. Hope you enjoy this sharing. Cheers.

  23. Hi, I am deciding between these 2 cars. I have listed down some pros and cons, but can everyone also contribute to let me know more so that I make a better decision? Thanks. Of cos, I want to buy a cheaper car, everyone wants that, but I also want to know if by paying less for Sienta, will I be getting a much worst car. Is Sienta value for money compared to Wish? Also, I am not very sure of the OMV of the Sienta. Let me start off with what I know: Toyota Sienta ------------- Pros Lower price $62k Great FC Lower road tax $874 Lower insurance Cons Less power (at 1.5) then Wish (1.8) Less interior space???? Car does not look as nice as Wish (subjective) Rare in SG, so harder to find spare parts and more expensive? Toyota Wish ----------- Pros More power Great FC More interior space??? Better looking Cons Higher road tax $1242 Higher cost (About 70K) Pls help to contribute what you know about the 2 cars, thanks.
