  1. Come on bro. If you're going by actual dyno figures (which themselves are fraught with variation and uncertainty and poor methodology) rather than manufacturer claims, you should know that BMW underrates many of their cars, including the most powerful models. On that basis, the more powerful engines I mentioned will also have higher HP and torque than advertised. The deficit of the 125i should remain about the same. I had an F10 M5 claimed by BMW to have 560hp. Most people I know who ran it on a dyno reported over 600hp. They play this game with many of their cars. Whatever the case may be, comparing "actual" for one model vs "claimed" for another is just unsound. Should go with like vs like, apples to apples, etc. Also, I've never cited the base 135i or any variant of the 30i, since I have no personal experience with them. The cars that I've mentioned are the M140i and the M240i (which are identical in terms of powertrain). The reason I brought those up is because someone mistook this car for one of those in an earlier post. The BMW models that I know intimately through ownership are: the 4 cylinder 520i (complete pig), the M135i, the F10 M5, the E92 M3 and the M140i. The BMW models that I've test driven are too numerous to list but includs the i8, the F90 M5, F80 M3 (and its sibling M4) and the M2 (original, not competition). I can only comment on what I know well.
  2. A little late to this but I'm going to respectfully disagree bro. And agree with the bros recommending 520i. Neither of these is what I would consider "fast", so the luxury and zhng options are more relevant. The PML car wins out for all of these. Factor in the dealer warranty and the *significantly* better price you're likely to get when you get sick of the car and want to trade it in - because AD cars are almost always worth more than PI cars - ask me how I know - and it's a no brainer. Add a chip (I recommend RaceChip Ultimate) to the 520i and the gap in power/torque is closed up enough that it won't even feel like a real compromise. The chip is also easily removed before any servicing, so the warranty should remain intact.
  3. Last time my bmw f10 520i doesnt have rev cam. Same like superb ambition with front and back sensor Tbh the 17” rim abit ugly. Glad i took the ambition plus with 18” rim thats look more nice, not the best though but got racing rim feel. Rev cam is a must, yes can install outside but i lazy. Prefer factory fitted one including electric tailgate and blind spot assist with rear alert This is my rim
  4. Am scrapping my BMW 520i XL soon. I am the second owner and milage around 157000km. Body and paint still looks good. Anyone can msg me to quote for the body? Can transfer immediate or mid of march depending on the price quote.
  5. I have tested drove both the 520i and the 320i recently. To my surprised, the 520i move off as good as 320i. There are 2 main reasons: (1) New gearbox for 520i (2) Non Run-Flat tyres for 520i (16 inch) Go and test drive and you may be convinced, don't just based on your assumption. The best part is 520i is from Germany and 320i still from South Africa. I am currently driving the old generation E46 318i and I know the respond of this engine well. This is a forum and I am sharing my experience here :) Period !
  6. Use before. But you can expect more hairline scratches as time progresses. They use the cloth to again and again throughout the night. You imagine how many cars they clean. I prefer The steam wash. For ceramic coated cars bmw 520i. I hope still scratch free
  7. Rich driver debadge or rebadge to 520i
  8. I got a friend driving a F10 M5 also rebadged to 520i, he said it was drawing too much attention on NSHY and his factory. I thought with side grill it was quite obvious he told me many people actually can't differentiate except for the badge at the back.
  9. I mean for CNY between friends and relatives Normally just see and chit chat one no problem Yes you are right many fake M and AMG in SG So far I only encounter once at Steven Road E60 M5 but rebadged as 520i Remember waiting at red light Silly Ah Beng rev engine beside this 520 But green he see no tail-lamps So funny lor... smell no smoke
  10. If want to show off in front of Relatives,i buy the 520i instead...
  11. Thanks for replying. Am confuse as previously when i bought i saw the posting said will buy back body at 1500 dollars at least. Then i saw previous someone said the body value of toyota can be 600-2k (for first generation). Why AD's dealers only offer 500 for a BMW 520i XL with 2 months plus to go for $500? Anyone can quote better?
  12. Hi All, May i know the estimate scrap car body value for BMW 520i XL. Scrapping in two months plus time. Thanks.
  13. I believe all parallel import cars have to go thru VITAS cos some years back many PI under-declare tax for the subsequent batches. For all we know, a common model like BMW 520i can have varying specs and trims from across different PI's.
  14. The local price is before disc and trade in bonus if you have existing car to trade in. For X3 seems saving not much better go for G30. Maybe you can import highest spec 520i from UK. Dont worry about repair or maintenance cos pml only cover first 5 yrs. dont think you will spend that much on repair for first 5 yrs
  15. i am not sure about now but back then 520i lux spec is better than e200 lux spec. the 520i has more things and cheaper .. generally merc is price slightly higher than bmw.
  16. LOL after so many years this topic is revived again. After driving a number of different cars since I last posted here, I can say the W124 is garbage. It has absolutely no power. The handling of the W124 is crap. You are very prone to spinning the car unless you put good tires on. The design of the car rubbish. It looks like some turd from the 90s. If i had the chance to go back in time, I would get the E34 BMW 520i instead. The BMW inline 6 is much smoother than the crappy inline for inside the W124. The E34 handles and looks better than that old piece of crap I used to drive. Then again I'm very critical of the cars which I used to drive because I always upgrade to something better. So take what I say with a pinch of salt. I've got an E89 BMW. Who knows, maybe I'll be critical of it once I get another car. After driving so many BMWs and Mercs (these don't include my own cars), my heart will remain with BMW. To be fair, the W124 is cheap to maintain and fix. But that's about it. Not a car I would want to drive.
  17. Not another HL thread...just keeping stock 1. Suzuki swift - 6 months 2. BMW 316 Compact - 6months 3. BMW 318i - 9 months 4. BMW 520i - 1.5 yrs 5. Mazda mx-5 - 4.5 yrs 6. 19. Since bro @RadX so nicely merged that other thread into this one, I will play along. From earliest to latest - more or less. With concurrent ownership, sometime a bit tough to keep track of which came first. Chin chai a bit. Also, only including cars personally owned (registered under my name), no household cars under someone else. 1) Toyota Starlet 2) Nissan 200SX (S13 with popup headlights) 3) Subaru WRX (bugeye) 4) Kia Rio manual 5) Subaru WRX (cockeye) 6) BMW 520i 7) Porsche 911 (996 Cab Tip) 8) Toyota Vios 9) BMW M135i 10) BMW M5 (F10) 11) Honda Odyssey (Absolute Edition) 12) Ferrari F430 F1 13) Toyota Wish 14) BMW M140i (current) 15) Mercedes AMG GT 16) Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 TB 6MT (current) 17) McLaren MP-4 12C coupe (current) That's all, unless I'm forgetting something - oh, I also sort-of owned a Ford Focus ST for all of one day before returning it because it was a piece of crap lemon. That's a long story.
  20. I think you guys are overstating how AD and PI under declare OMV. Spore customs are experienced in spotting under declaration of OMV and have hauled a no.of PI to court recent years and the penalty is i think 10x the amt of under declared taxes. OMV and the margin of each car model is actually quite transparant...u can check it here... https://www.onemotoring.com.sg/content/dam/onemotoring/pdf/Car_Cost_Update.pdf From the list u can see PML make a whopping $81+k for a 520i base model
  21. E200 Avant Garde $267,888 , OMV $45k E200 Elegance $257,888, OMV $42-43k 520i Business $242,800 OMV $39k 520i Luxury $257,800 OMV $45k 528i Business $257,800 OMV ? Overtrade should be between $20,000-25,000 negotiabl for both marquee.
  22. Stinger (4.83m) is slightly longer for overall length & wheel base than BMW 4series and the Audi A5.. even though these 2 are meant to be its direct competitor. 2.0T vs BMW 430i / Audi A5 Sportback 3.3 v6 vs BMW 440i / Audi S5 Sportback You can throw VW Arteon into the mix though performance wise it's in between the 2.0T and 3.3 v6 Stinger. In local market, another option would be the Opel Insignia Grandsport. But sluggish engine, slow gearbox, overpriced ($197K same as 3.3 v6 Stinger), spoils the otherwise nice design. 256bhp 400nm 8AT but 7.3s century sprint To put it into perspective, both the above BMW 430i and Audi A5 SB cost $100K more than the 2.0T. The 440i and S5 SB will cost $80K and $100K more than the Stinger GT too. If you wanna pit the 2.0T Stinger against cheapest BMW 520i and MB E200.. the Stinger is still 100K cheaper while being almost 3 seconds faster to 100km/h. If you wanna pit the Stinger's 6 seconds sprint accordingly to BMW 530i and MB E300, the 2.0T Stinger is even better value, since it's $115K cheaper with the Bimmer and $140K with the E300. That's why I say Stinger is quite on its own. Offering a lot for much lesser. But whether people can spot that "alot" objectively, is another question. FYI. Seems like the price fluctuate quite a bit. When I bought mine in late July, I was quoted $151,999. Others who bought a few days after, got quoted $150K (cheapest in the same period) and some got $155K / $157K and later on even $161K. I dunno why so much diff.

please do yourself a favour and walk into a bmw showroom when you are free. Then tell the receptionist you want to test drive the 5er. Talk to the assigned se. You will realise: 1. 520i sells better, in fact much better than 528i. Why? I don't know. Maybe singaporeans like small engine, but anyway 528i and 520i has same engine. Difference is in exhaust and intercooler, plus mapping. 2. List price is just list price. Nobody ever buys such cars at list price. The discount on ready stock 520i vs indented 535i can be quite different. Remember to floor the accelerator pedal. test drive is free.

You drove the e60 520i or f10 520i? Big difference in power. The f10 520i actually pulls stronger than even the e60 525i for daily driving, thanks to the turbo. s4 and 528 is different catagory...then again, there is another car that is within your budget. The M135i.
