  1. Yes and also the new E has a higher OMV. More taxes. I usually keep my car much much longer but the significant drop in COE is tempting me as well but the lousy trade in offers so far has yet to push me over the edge. You must be one of the first to buy the C, quite a premium you paid. 530i is a very good drive (won't puke one lah and much better than the run of the mill 520i) but PML pricing is not attractive. The "official" margin based on listed price is almost 100k. Mercy and PI are probably eating their lunch.
  2. I'm pretty sure that the leather in the Attrage are factory-fitted, as stated in the sales agreement I received for my car, albeit they are of lower quality, justified by the price of the car when compared to the 520i. One interesting fact for the Attrage is that only the seating surfaces are covered in leather, the other parts of the seats (behind the seat, seatback pocket etc.) are covered in vinyl-like material. Good way to save cost.
  3. Read the post above yours. The answer is inside. It is not only about peak power. It is also about how long you can make the peak power. Did you know that the 520i actually makes 180hp from 4500rpm all the way to 6500rpm? That means that whether you are at 4500rpm or at 6500rpm, just put your feet down and you get the full 180hp. Coupled with the closely ratioed, lightning quick and efficient zf 8hp, the 0-100km/hr on the 520i actually happens at the rated 180hp output from 30-100km/hr. Let's not forget that BMW tends to under-rate their actual output...on the other hand, my personal experience with kimchi brand is that 1 kimchi horsepower is not as strong as 1 german horsepower.
  4. weak Euro helps with the cost.. think the 520i Business has lower specs compared to the previous batch 520i sold in 2013/2014.
  5. current 5er LCI is already FL la ... next is new model liao seriously, if there was really 520 & 528 same price ... who is the stoooopig will buy 520? because of better FC? muahahahah definitely typo error la ... stop dreaming ... that's whay i said 520i lux price same with 528i biz ... now the pricing table looks correct ... the $15k difference is either paid for power or gadgets/specs i would take 528i biz vs 520i lux because gadgets/specs can add 1-by-1 slowly ... engine cannot change!
  6. BMW 520i M Sport sound system upgrade, installation with following items done 1. Focal K2 Power ES100K 4'' 2-way Component Speaker 2. Focal IFBMW-C 2-way Coaxial Speaker 3. Focal IFBMW-SUB 8" Flat Subwoofer For more details about audio package , please feel free to contact: Ah Huat - 92325621 Pioneer AVH-Z9150BT with Mercedes-Benz SLK For more details about audio package, please feel free to contact: Ah Huat - 92325621
  7. Recently did similar exercise. My take 1. Audi A6 - i wont touch Audi unless they change distributor. Bad experience with their distributor. 2. Merc E class - some say most reliable of the lot. But there is a recent recall for YoM 2013-2015 W212 E class. C&C gives $5k service credit ... enough to last you 3 years servicing depending on your driving pattern, and more free stuff, depending on whether you need it or not. PM me if you really want details. However, some plastics in the interior (place you dont usually see) are down right inferior. I only tested the pre-facelifted W212. Overall, the drive is better than W204, which is surprising. You dont feel the size at all, and its easy to manoeuvre. Drag coefficient (Cd) is lowest at 0.24 in the industry until CLA (0.22) broke its record. Low Cd means low drag, which translates to good FC. Lots of options thrown in if you get the Avant Garde. E200 has 300Nm torque compared to 520i (270Nm) though both have similar 184 bhp. 3. BMW 5er - Very nice interior. Insulation as good if not better the E class. The gem is the N20 2.0 twin scroll turbo engine + ZF 8 speed transmission. Together they bring the best out of the car in terms of performance. From some people even good FC. 0-100 at 7.9s for 520i is faster than E200 (8.2s) even though it is 30kgs heavier, less torque, and higher Cd (0.29) ... the reason is its 8 speed transmission compared to E200's 7Gtronic. Currently PML offers extended warranty to 5 years / 100,000km and 3 years basic servicing (or 60,000km) included at a small price. Up to you to negotiate. Service interval however is 10,000km as compared to E class' 15,000 km. Having a BMW gives you an option of going to 2 official dealer for servicing and warranty claim - PML and Munich Auto. If you dont like the service of one, there is another option. Unlike all the other brands mentioned here. 4. BMW 3GT - one of my shortlisted candidate as well. But PML no longer bring this car in. Only on indent basis. High spec and option. High OMV. Large boot space and leg room (larger than 7 series). Drives like a 3er. Interior quality is high, but 3 series quality, so its one notch down. i really like this car, but if its more expensive or same price as 5er, which one would you choose? Go to PPSL to look for pre-owned if you really want this car. Indent basis means no room for negotiation. 5. Jaguar XF - really end of life. Unless they sell you at very very good price, or you really really like it and must have it. Customer satisfaction according to JD Power UK, is better than both A6, E class and 5er. But that's UK drivers' view. Wearns' customer service is second to none.
  8. A couple of things .... 1. The piston may not be different between the 520i and 528i. The part numbers looks the same to me. Ang mo's part number not the same - BMW part numbers are diff for US vs Europe. Please stop copying and pasting ang mo's posts. 2. Sport transmission is just a software map. The 8hp transmission is the same for both chassis. Take 15 minutes for it to be coded. You could also code all kinds of stuff like launch control or eco sailing etc ..... 3. The stock map for the 528i can be loaded onto a 520i. It's not as direct as just a flash - done wrongly the turbo would be disabled. With some manipulation - it can be done. 4. The higher compression - just use fuel with higher Ron to prevent detonation Lastly as an alternative - The anti tune for the N20 is broken. But I'll wait for the OBD protocol to be made available - no need to crack open the Dme...... Troublesome.
  9. they purposely do it that way no cam no hifi for 520 ... so ... it make you buy 528 even you don't need extra horsepower ... it's a sibei smart move ... i might say ... if 520i = 528i options except bhp/nm ... 528i can go fly kite liao but ... can always install cam + hifi outside la ... cheaper somemore you can soup up a 520i to 535i options outside except the engine ... lol
  10. so what is the final price after simi lunar new year discount and simi overtrade etc for 520i business (plain jane) ? 520i luxury ?
  11. This was what brought me to the showroom. They have demo / program / test cars with $20k~30k discounts but that's only the 3 and 4 series. For the 5 series, they offered a $17k discount off the list price. Kind of commensurate with the COE drop. The 520i business is really a plain jane - tuxedo outside, t-shirt inside. I like the handling of the 520i, but....the pick up sucks
  12. stock is the best seriously, i have compared 520i vs 528i inch-by-inch .... cm-by-cm ... to be honest ... the $17k is definitely worth it ... if can afford but if the $17k is a stretch ... fk and forget it ... 520i is enough in terms of driving in spore and cheong >200kmph in nsh (no engine stall) 528i is the best drive you can get out of a 2L F10 ... because the N20B20 2L engine is designed for 245bhp & 350Nm for its optimal performance (sweet spot)
  13. the angmoh in usa had stripped down 520i vs 528i engine parts-by-parts and check 1-by-1 the only difference is piston and compression ratio these 2 parts alone made 520i untuneable to 528i by reloading 528i ECU map and new DME
  14. Do you mean that test car was yours? Actually, I think you really have to let go. It is a fact that the bmw 520i F10 will come with electronic or mechanical shock absorbers depending on the market demand. Depending where you are selling. PML has the absolute right to bring their preferred model in. And it can change anytime they want. So what even if that test car is on mechanical dampers, so what even if the writer didn't specify on his drive report that he meant not suspensions but a general drive feeling. You still cannot change the above fact. You not having it doesn't necessary mean the others have to be deprived of having it. This is a globalised automotive industry. And buying parts to fit different specifications of the same platform is very very common. This is the reason why the IATF has to implement clause 7.4 with their TS16949 to manage their supplier system And BMW has to follow the VDA6.3 P5 supplier management process. To ensure that the buy in parts like your BMW shock absorber (mechanical or electronic) conforms to what has been engineered. Many parts are purchased and fitted into the car, the friend I spoke about is employed by a group that deals directly with BMW AG in Germany. He is also technically trained to perform checks on technical drawings, audit the technical performance of products. And he is directly trained and certified by the British SMMT to conduct TS16949 audits and licenced by German VDA Berlin to conduct 6.3 audits. He has a whole network of information and competence to deliver results. If you drive a BMW, then, he has chipped in his efforts to ensure your car is in proper condition. His information is first hand and it's reliable. So when he says that the 520i will have electronic dampers depending on situation, I will rather trust him given I know what he does. I think you should just let it go. Ego is not worth the fight. It's only some uncritical information that makes no difference even if you win. What matters most is that everyone of us get our vehicle in one piece, walks away a satisfied customer. We are both ladies, and we should show the character of one. Tenacity to prove a worthless point that has been debunked is not going to benefit anybody. The weekend is round the corner. @Mercury1 has opted for his car to come with electronic dampers and it is a brilliant choice in my opinion. Hey, not everybody can afford a new car with the current COE. Let's wish him an enjoyable time driving his new car. OK?
  15. PML list 520i Business as $242,800 and $520i (A) as $253,800. You mean they quoted above prices less 33k after all the combi of finance rebate and over trade etc? Meaning $209,800 for the first one. Also depends on what car you have to trade in? Thanks.
  16. hee... like i said, depends on model. You know it's an option, so it's not impossible to be in the 520i in singapore. I look at the global perspective and Singapore is easily influenced by this perspective. BMW can even incorporate the AKC (active kinematics control) if they want, so the adaptive damping whose original project name is CDC (continuous damping control) which is easier and cheaper than AKC to manage can be even more easily included in any of their product line. Performance motor which is under sime darby also deals with other cars, is at their liberty to decide which model do they want to bring in. Singapore is a very small market and our statutory requirements are not unique. LTA 'copy' the european standards, japanese standard and simply require all car dealers to take in only the 'OE' conditions as they are in my opinion, not competent enough and population not big enough to demand for an individual system. so, 520i with CDC? definitely yes.
  17. Last weekend, went to test drive the E250 Avantgarde and 520i with my CO. Below is my humble view of the 2 rides (Disclaimer: All views below are personal and subjective to my own perception) E250 Avantgarde Pro: Very nice interior. Sport feel to the steering Excellent braking Feel confident of the drive (raining on the day) Car feel compact and agile despite the size Very comfortable sitting posture Great outlook Love the badge in the front grill Con: Exterior sound insulation is not fantastic Throttle response is slow CO complain rear seat uncomfortable Rear seat leg room appears tighter as compared to BMW Significant lack of high end technology (eg. blind spot warning system, lane changing warning, keeping distance to the car in front) In car system less intuitive as compare to BMW iDrive BMW 520i F10 Pro: Exterior styling makes it visually bigger than E class Great Promotion Package Lots of gadgets Huge interior space Comfortable ride when in Comfort mode Sport mode is distinctively "sporty" Nice dashboard styling which incline towards driver Con: Does not feel confident when driving Ride feel clumsy and oversize on the road
  18. It is one of the terrace houses along Toh Tuck Road, directly opposite Highgate Park Condo. BTW, spotted this real Mccoy few days ago. Not common to see S3 on our road, as for the price one is paying, can easily get a E200 or 520i with loose change.
  19. Look at the locally fitted leather seats of this 1+ year old Mitsubshi Attrage - lots of folds. These low end locally fitted leather are very thin and the average price of $1,000 does not justify for such low quality, most of which are leather imported form China and cannot last in this hot local climate. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=690573&DL=3052 1 year + locally fitted leather seats of Mitsubishi Attrage 5 years old BMW 520i
  20. No issues, these are still considered livable issues. Just that when I get the COE W212, it's the first batch and also I understand that conti has a lot more electronics therefore, is still under consideration. But I agree that when want to bring to the "doc" issue always disappear. Same for my car everytime during the warranty period. I have shortlisted W204, W212 and BMW 523i (would be nice to take the 520i) non XL version. But still have time to consider. Thanks
  21. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=JA12-EUR-02-2018-G30-BMW-520i&diagId=36_2296 That's the latest list of BMW star tire.
  22. 520i is il4 potter. The older makes have known heating issues. Operating engine temp fer my old 325 e92 was also higher than fer my current c300. My office colleague just traded in his 9yr old 520i fer a second hand e200. In general people here seem to believe mercs r more reliable n have better resale n we also c more older mercs here than bms. I did a poll last year n mercs r preferred here over bms n audis.
  23. Thanks, very few GS350 on our roads, more GS250, same for the 520i. This may interest those looking at the GS in the Singapore context. http://paultan.org/2013/04/26/a6-vs-520i-vs-m25-vs-gs250/
