  1. Another odd design luxurious sedan in the making? At a quick glance, it shout Peugeot, to me. The next-generation BMW 7 Series has been caught once more, hinting at a completely redesigned exterior concealed under many layers of camouflage. Those simple headlights are likely provisional as they seem to have a basic look, but the original 8 Series-esque placement and shape is likely the final one. Tiny rivets on many parts of the body indicate the 7 Series prototype has more than just one layer of disguise, so it's best not to jump to any conclusions about the car's exterior appearance. As for the interior, the first thing you will notice are those side-by-side screens akin to the setup you'll find in the iX SUV and i4 Gran Coupe. In those two fully electric vehicles, the instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches and is accompanied by a larger 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment running on iDrive 8. Much like in the EVs, the screens are housed within a massive piece of curved glass slightly tilted towards the driver. It’s going to be a long wait before the next 7 Series will hit the streets as production reportedly won't start until July next year.
  2. With advanced technologies these days, drivers never (or hardly) get charged with incorrect parking fees. Even if there is such an occurrence, it is often the driver's fault - Eg. Driving out of MSCP without renewing season parking, forgetting to remove cashcard before inserting complimentary parking coupon (The list goes on). And sadly, all we can do as drivers is to suck it up, pay our "tuition fees", and learn from our mistakes. However, this entitled BMW 730LI driver did otherwise when met in a similar situation: What Happened? A BMW driver decided to pull a selfish and inconsiderate act by ditching his BMW 730LI luxury sedan right at the nose of Mandai Connection's carpark gantry after allegedly having a dispute with the building's security over $10 in parking charges. Subsequently, he went to the guard post to dispute with the building's security over his parking charges, while his car was still parked at the gantry of the carpark's entrance. The inconsiderate and absurd act of the BMW driver caused a 30-minute jam at the building's entrance, causing traffic to pile back into both directions of the main road. According to the user that submitted the video, the police were called in for assistance on this matter. However, the BMW driver left the scene before the police arrived. Netizens' Comments The mandatory "drive conti but no money to pay for parking" comments😎 I also wonder how thick-skin must one be to hold up the traffic for 30-minutes just to settle your parking dispute🤦‍♂️ Indeed, a special breed of men. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. The following accident is a strange one. Watch it here: What Happened? The above video was captured by the cam car's dashcam while approaching a red light signal at West Coast Road. A BMW 740 drove past the cam car while straddling between lanes 1 and 2 before running the red light at an unusually slow speed. The BMW crosses the junction while travelling at a bearing towards the centre divider. Moments later, the BMW mounts the centre divider and takes out an entire traffic light, tilting it at a 45-degree angle. At this point, I am starting to wonder about the structural robustness of the BMW sedan after it almost uprooted an entire traffic light. The Possibilities Some netizens were speculating that the driver was either driving under the influence of alcohol/substance or driving while distracted (driving while using a mobile phone). However, judging from the strange way the car was being driven, there is a likelihood that the BMW driver was experiencing a medical emergency which caused the accident. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Here's wishing the BMW driver a speedy recovery from the accident! The Aftermath Below are some snippets of the accident scene: The impact from the collision deployed the airbags of the BMW. Netizens' Comments From the video, it seems like the cam car driver pulled up along the side of the road to check on the BMW driver tho. ?! The Mercedes driver should be thanking his lucky stars for not sustaining collateral damage. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. The updated BMW 7 Series gets a bold new look, plus new hybrid and engine options The BMW 7 Series has been given a substantial redesign, with new engines, a new plug-in hybrid option and updated tech forming part of an extensive facelift. The new face is clearly inspired by the X7 SUV, and aims to link the two 7-badged luxury models and distance the 7 Series from the 5 Series. With China and US sales the limo’s bread and butter, the revamp has been created with these countries in mind. Clearly, the new chrome kidney grille is much larger, and raises the bonnet edge 50mm higher than before. The redesigned headlights are far slimmer than on the pre-facelift model and amplify the size of the grille. Adaptive LED units are standard, with BMW’s Laserlight set-up remaining an option. The front bumper has a more streamlined shape. New air curtain panels on each edge of the front apron cut turbulence around the front wheelarches, while new chrome detailing has also been applied. The side vents exiting behind the front wheelarches have been revised, and there’s a new rear apron and revised tail-lights, now linked by a full-width LED strip across the bootlid. Inside, the layout does not change, but the materials used and offered do, along with some of the tech. A 10.25-inch central screen running BMW iDrive 7.0 is now supported by a fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument panel. New wood trim options also appear. Cars with the M Sport package and the V12 M760Li xDrive model get sportier touches inside, too. That car still spearheads the engine line-up, with its 6.6-litre V12 capable of 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds. BMW says the 4.4-litre turbo V8 in the 750i-badged cars has been thoroughly reworked, with power shooting up by 79bhp, to 523bhp overall. The plug-in 7 Series is now badged 745e and has ditched the 4-cylinder petrol unit for a turbocharged in-line six-cylinder petrol engine. It’s teamed with a higher-voltage battery and electric motor to create a more powerful hybrid system with up to 389bhp.
  5. BMWBlog has revealed a new set of alleged leaked images for the upcoming BMW 7 Series. The images show the car in M guise and luxury guise. The cars shown here are likely 750Li and M760Li variants and all variants of the car will the massive kidney grille, similar to the one used on the new large SUV, X7. Other than the grill, it also looks like the car also gains new bumper and lights all around. No images of the interior has showed up online yet but the car is expected to get a new digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment system. The official reveal of the car is rumored to be in the coming weeks.
  6. Automotive News has reported the Tesla Model S has outsold traditional luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW in their home turf last year. This is the first time in Europe and for some years now, the Model S has been outselling Mercedes-Benz's S-Class and BMW's 7-Series in America. With 30 percent more sales in Europe this year, 16,132 Model Ss were put on the road in 2017. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz sold 13,359 S-Classes for the same year, an increase of 3 percent. BMW sold 11,735 7-Series models, a 13 percent decrease as compared to 2016. In the States, Tesla sold 28,800 units of the Model S while Mercedes-Benz only sold 15,888 units of its S-Class last year.
  7. Any towkay interested? New and updated engines with up to 25 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. BMW Asia today launched the new BMW 7 Series – the flagship BMW model that embodies sporting elegance, refined powertrain technology and luxurious comfort in equal measure – which is set to reinforce its position as the most innovative sedan in the luxury segment. "The new BMW 7 Series is now equipped with an impressive spread of chassis wizardry that helps give the ride-comfort a noticeable boost. The new 750Li and 740Li which now feature new engines and drivetrain, not only enjoy significant performance enhancement but up to 25 percent and 21 percent in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions respectively. Meanwhile, the new BMW 730Li is faster and more efficient with up to 11 percent increase in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions," said Mr Neil Fiorentinos, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia. "Apart from that, the new 7 Series now comes with an enhanced BMW ConnectedDrive portfolio which includes impressive new features that strive to improve our flagship limousine‟s overall safety, convenience and infotainment features." "BMW ConnectedDrive is a clever link-up between driver, car and the outside world to make things more safe, convenient and informative. The technically superior Connected Drive features found in the new BMW 7 Series offer an unrivaled combination of driver assistance systems and mobility services that are designed to further strengthen our flagship limousine‟s offering and elevate its position in the luxury segment," added Mr Fiorentinos. Connected Drive: Anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant with intelligent control. The BMW 7 Series is now available with Adaptive LED headlights which provide a further safety boost when driving at night. The bright white light it emits illuminates the road ahead with an exceptional intensity. Together with High-Beam Assistant technology, Adaptive LED Headlights with cornering lights, as well as variable headlight distribution, continue to represent the ultimate in lighting technology. The Anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant in conjunction with Adaptive LED headlights ensures that the driver can enjoy optimal visibility at all times without having to switch manually between high and low beam. The dazzle-free high-beam assistant regulates the main beam of the headlights for optimum illumination of the route and thus reduces the burden on the driver. When the system is activated, an image sensor on the inside of the front mirror monitors the lighting conditions and the traffic ahead at a distance of up to 400 metres. The feature uses these sensor images to determine the strength of the high beam and varies it seamlessly. Meanwhile, oncoming traffic is registered at a distance of approximately 1,000 metres. A mechanism in the headlight specifically covers points in the high beam and dynamically aligns it to rule out any risk of dazzling. Connected Drive: New-generation Navigation System Professional: 3-D display and control. The latest-generation Navigation System Professional is compelling at first glance for its revised design and honed operating system. The tried-and-tested menu navigation has been consciously retained and augmented by further functions. The user interface has benefited from a complete graphic revision and now comprises 3D elements throughout, while the entire architecture of the individual menus is now presented in virtual, three dimensional spaces. Thanks to its 1.3 GHz processor and dedicated 3D graphics card, using the system with its high-quality animations and dynamic transitions is an experience, supported by imagery boasting unprecedented levels of contrast and brilliance. Efficient Dynamics: New ECO PRO Mode with coasting mode. The new ECO PRO mode with the addition of the coasting mode, and proactive driving assistant functions, helps the BMW 7 Series driver to maintain an extra-efficient and economy conscious driving style. The new coasting mode, in particular, has been designed to decouple the combustion engine when it is overrunning at speeds between 50 km/h and 160 km/h. In coasting mode, the new BMW 7 Series is subject to a far lower rate of deceleration as it freewheels along the road with no engine braking effect and minimal fuel consumption. This way, the kinetic energy built up by the vehicle can be harnessed and – through forward-thinking driving aided by the proactive driving assistant – translate into fuel savings of up to five percent. The coasting function is clearly visualized for the driver‟s benefit in the multifunctional instrument cluster and the central Control Display, and can also be deactivated if desired. BMW 750Li: Eight-cylinder engine develops more power but burns less fuel. Making its debut under the bonnet of the BMW 750Li is an upgraded BMW TwinPower Turbo eight-cylinder petrol engine with two turbochargers, Valvetronic, Double-VANOS and High Precision Direct Injection. The 4,395 cc eight-cylinder powerplant retains the impressively smooth assurance and spirited power delivery of its pre-update days. However, optimised high pressure direct injection and reduced charge cycle losses – thanks in the main to the seamlessly variable control of intake valve lift – have pushed its performance potential to a higher level than its predecessor and substantially reduced its fuel economy and emissions. In its latest development stage, the engine generates peak output of 450 hp (+ 10 percent) and unleashes peak torque of 650 Newton metres (+ 8.5 percent) between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm. The engine teams up with the eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the BMW 750Li to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and progress on to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. The eight-cylinder engine belies its improved performance with better efficiency than ever; with overall fuel consumption of 8.6 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions recorded at 199 g/km, the BMW 750Li trumps its less powerful predecessor by a clear 25 percent. BMW 740Li & 730Li: Enhanced Power Delivery & Efficiency. The BMW 740Li has a 3-litre six-cylinder in-line engine that stands out with its majestic power and unparalleled high-revving character. The state-of-the-art powerplant is one of the first waves of highly efficient petrol engines to bring together BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with High Precision Direct Petrol Injection, twin-scroll turbocharging, Double-Vanos variable camshaft timing and Valvetronic variable valve timing. The BMW 740Li is packed with 320hp with a maximum 450 Newton metres of torque on tap from as low as just 1,300 rpm. The BMW 740Li has also become quicker (+5 percent; 0-100km/h at 5.7 seconds), more fuel efficient (+21 percent; 7.9 litre/100km) and environmentally-friendlier (+21 percent; 184 g/km CO2 emissions) compared to its predecessor. The BMW 730Li, meanwhile, is equipped with a proven 3-litre straight-six petrol engine as before. Now with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, the BMW 730Li has similarly become faster (+4 percent; 0-100km/h at 7.5 seconds), has better fuel efficiency (+11 percent; 8.7 litre/100km and lower CO2 emissions (+11 percent; 202 g/km) against its predecessor working with a six-speed transmission. Exterior Design: Stylish appearance. The large, full-width air intake dominating the lower section of the modified front apron is now split into three sections, a pair of chrome bars marking its outer sections and adding further depth to the car‟s sporty looks. Two narrow vertical air intakes sit beyond even the LED foglamps to the left and right of the wide intake. Adhering to the Efficient Dynamics philosophy, these are included as part of the "air curtain" technology, which lowers fuel consumption at higher speeds by forcing the air to flow more aerodynamically around the front wheels. Interior Design: Exclusively luxurious. The optimum interior soundproofing of the BMW 7 Series takes the on-board experience another step towards perfection. Additional insulation materials in the B and C-pillars, skirts and boot area team up with intricate sealing around the window frames and exterior mirrors to minimise driving noise. All of which bring the sound experience generated by the new Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System even more powerfully to the fore. The 1,200-watt music system is hooked up to 16 speakers, some of which are positioned behind illuminated, satin-finish aluminium grilles sited in the mirror triangles of the doors and the parcel shelf. The most attention-seizing member of the speaker line-up is the illuminated centre speaker which extends out of the instrument panel and uses B&O Acoustic Lens Technology. Its distinctive form guarantees perfect sound quality in every seat. When the music system is switched off, the centre speaker retreats back into the instrument panel almost without trace. Meanwhile, the new ambient lighting for the interior creates a pleasant ambience, especially at night. Footwell lights for the driver and front passenger and indirect roof liner illumination via lights integrated into the B-pillars further enhance the feeling of well-being. The colour of the ambient light can be altered according to taste. The new BMW 7 Series will be available at Performance Motors‟ showrooms from 5 October 2012 Source : http://www.cheryl-tay.com/the-new-bmw-7-series.html
  8. Recently saw many new bmw 7 series breakdown and require towing service. It is unlikely that it will breakdown but wonder why it always happens?? due to burst tire, failed engine, dead battery, failure in mechanism/electronic of the car or any other reason? Anyone can share the point?
  9. Mention about BMW's 7 Series and one would likely remember the fourth generation E65 that caused much controversy due to its radical design. Styled by Chris Bangle, Chief of Design of BMW back then in 2001, the 7 Series wasn't well liked by many. I was one of those to be honest. But thankfully, the generations after that never made that "mistake" again... Today, we have the sixth generation 7 Series(which looks pretty elegant in my eyes) with us and it feels like it has made leaps and bounds in every aspect since then. One area which the new car made the biggest jump in improvement is its interior design. While the it isn't exactly revolutionary, it is spot on when it comes to being inviting and luxurious. Don't get what I mean? Maybe these photos might give you an idea how welcoming it is... Abundance of cabin space in the front or at the back. We selected orange out of the various colours available for interior lighting for this photo... and I realised there is too much orange for my liking. Yes, you can ionise the air with different fragrances... via buttons that have displays that are now multi-coloured. The new i-Drive display is now touchscreen capable and can recognise up to six different hand gestures. Love the warmth glow the light at the b-pillar gives off at night. Like its smaller sibling, the 5 Series, the 7 Series gets new LCD displays for the instrument cluster. Being a BMW, you won't expect anything lesser than good for the steering. It is pleasingly accurate and well-weighted. Keen drivers will want a bit more feedback going through the wheel but then again, the chauffeurs who will be driving it might not need it... Driving modes alter the driving experience by quite a bit. The best mode in my opinion is "Comfort Plus" which turns the dampers into its most cosseting setting, allowing the car to sail down the road and absorbing any imperfections in the way. For those who do actually drive their 7 Series on their own will find the ability to mix and match your drive settings very useful. I personally prefer the steering to feel heavier while using the comfort setting for the dampers. Nearly 130kg is shaved off from its predecessor with the help of carbon fibre used extensively around the car. Like most of the other BMW engines, this 3.0-litre 326bhp turbocharged straight-six engine has virtually no faults. It is eager to go, punchy everywhere throughout the rev range and smooth like butter. It is also pretty economical by returning nearly 10km/L despite weighing a good 1845kg. Now, here's my favourite party piece of the tech-laden 7 Series. This iphone-like remote has the ability to check the car's status beside the usual locking and unlocking functions. You can also set a time turn on the car's air con system before you leave in it too - very useful in our sunny island. Unfortunately, the much-raved about remote parking is not available for now as the authorities have yet to approve it for local use. Like all the previous generations, the new 7 Series is still one of the best driving luxury sedan around. And with this generation and in this specification, the 740Li featured here has gained enough technology, space, luxury and quality to bring it to the top of it class.
  10. hi guys. been offered a 2nd hand bmw 730 abt 5yr old any advice on the reliability and other stuff i should look out for? thanks in advance!
  11. According to paultan.org, BMW China is going to introduce a new entry level 730Li in the Chinese market with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Using the new engine found in the facelifted 330i, the 2.0-litre engine from the B48 family should feature a similar output of 252bhp in the new 7 series. Torque should be around the same too at 350Nm. Expect the new engine to be paired with the usual eight-speed automatic found in many of their cars too. If the news turns out to be true, the 730Li will not the first variant to feature a four-cylinder engine in a 7 series. That title goes to the 740e plug-in hybrid, which features a combination of a 2.0-litre engine plus a electric motor to provide forward motion. That said, whether the 730Li lands on our shores remains to be seen...
  12. What do you guys feel about the new 7 series?
  13. [extract] Oh no, it looks like Peter Schreyer's team over at Kia has run into a styling quandary. The newly released official pictures of the Mercedes Benz S-class / BMW 7 series sized Kia K9 tells me that he has suddenly decided to loose his Audi roots and design something that looks like a BMW 7 series from the era where I (and a whole lot of BMW critics) hate
  14. My BMW 730i chauffer experience (AMM event) 19th July 2008 Reported to Shangri La Hotel (Command Post) for work at 2.30pm. Collected my two umbrellas, one tissue box and docket which contains one tie, cash card, Shell petrol card, BMW booklet and job sheets. A 19 man bus took us to Home Team Academy (HTA) to collect our brand new BMW 730i. Mine clocked 28km on the odometer only. Proceeded to C&P Pandan rd office to wash car, damn the china workers, took 20mins to wash one car. After washing drove to Shang for briefing on Botanic Garden dinner dry run. Realised my car was the spare car for the spare car. They are damn kiasu becos of the previous MY PM incident. On the dry run, fetched the Asean Delegate driver ard the route to be taken and then drove to Ministry of Foreign Affairs carpark. Being a Sat nite, there were wedding dinners, we were chased out of Shang and told to come back at 11pm. Went for coffee break wif other drivers to Queensway hawker. Drove the 730i back to Shang and finished work at 11.30pm. 20th July 2008 Reported to Shang at 7.30am, damn tired man but have to look fresh. Sit ard the command post and basically do nothing. At 6.30pm, drove my 730i to MFA carpark to standby as the main divers drove the delegates to Botanic Gardens for their dinner. The spare drivers took a leisure walk to Taman Serasi food court for dinner and chit chat till 9.30pm. We walked back to MFA carpark abt 10pm and drove back to Shang to park our 730i. Finished work at 10.30pm. 21st July 2008 Reported to Shang at 7.30am, still very tired. Again sit ard command post doing nothing. At 10am, given assignment to go to HTA and collect another 730i at 12noon. One guy drove the four of us to HTA and collected another four brand new BMW 730i. The other two drivers already got assignment to fetch a delegate from airport after collecting the car. Another driver and me drove to Pandan Gardens for lunch and back to C&P Pandan rd for car wash. After long washing again, drove the car back to Shang and park. This one not my car, so handed the car keys back at command post. Saw a few drivers were sleeping in their BMW, I too took a nap in my 730i from 4pm till 6pm when my frens called me up for dinner. We walked to Orchard Towers 4th level for dinner. Cheap but pretty tasteless dinner. Enjoyed the view of the ladies at the massage parlors but mostly not very pretty ones. Attended the dry run briefing for Istana dinner. This dry run was a complete failure cos of comms breakdown. Had to re-do the next day. Finished work at 12.30am!!! 22nd July 2008 As usual, reported to Shang ard 8am. This time really damn shag out. While the ops guys were planning the route for tonite

  16. a 3+ years old bmw 745 series, mileage < 50K, v8 engine, 333 bhp @ $168K http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2IaH2zaC-1044.html what's the catch huh ? 1st owner use for 3+ years, cannot be a lemon car right !
  17. http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2EMKft33-1000.html From the driver's seat of the BMW 735, if you look up to the centre of the roof, you will see an emergency switch that is concealed by a piece of plastic, pasted by Performance Mtrs. This is supposed to be an emergency switch that drivers can press in case of emergency. In places like Germany, this switch, upon activation is linked to the local Police. Anyone knows why this switch is inactive in Singapore? Can special arrangements be made to link it to the Police or CISCO upon activation? Is a special permit needed? Thread drifters and trouble makers are not welcome!

    BMW 7 Facelifted

Three years after its debut BMW has tweaked the company's range of the Chris Bangled 7 Series, which caused much controversy as intended. Due for launch in the spring, the range gets what BMW describes as "interior fine-tuning, dynamic developments and exterior styling enhancements". In other words, a face-lift -- plus some new engines -- and some welcome weight-saving measures. From the front, there is a new headlamp and bumper design, changes to the kidney grilles and a bigger bonnet power bulge. The rear of the car gets new tail lamps, bumper and a chrome strip running the width of the boot lid, and bolder side sills. What do you think???
  19. My neighbour just bought 2 7 series BMW ....the boot open by itself ,lights on the door handle , and many gadgets , shiok man!! Both bidded numbers starting with SS and all 4 numbers the same
