  1. Drive carefully if you're in a Vios......
  2. this camry is 3 years already. they can do that as the government oso know thailand car should be cheaper than the korean car.
  3. Which will you choose? Both are within similar price range. Mazda 6 2.0 & BM Camry 2.0(no 2.4)& Camry 2.4L PI model. And why? Which is more comfortable? PS: Don't really care if BM Camry is Thailand car.
  4. Hi all, Just thought of asking brothers here to give some comments/pointers. I'm planning to change my existing ride. A few cars are in my shortlist: 1. Toyota Camry 2.4A 2. Nissan Cefiro 2.3A 3. Mit Lancer EX 2.0M GT 4. Chevy Epica 2.5A 5. Honda Civic 2.0M SI (maybe the Type R) 6. Honda Accord Euro-R A I could consider other cars in the 80 - 110K range. Few things I'm looking for: 1. Comfort - I travel alot to Malaysia (Ipoh/Penang). I would like the car to be roomy with excellent rear passenger legspace. As I'm pretty big size, I would like the driver seat to be comfortable. High speed cruising should be quiet and comfortable. So far, the Camry seems to have the edge on this one with the Cefiro coming close. The Cefiro has a very very comfortable front passenger seat - good for me to snooze when my co-pilot takes over *grinz*. 2. Performance - I do engage in spirited driving in Sg and Malaysia. Even in my current ride, my average speed on NSH is 180kmh.Hence the ride must have good pickup and top speed. I enjoy manual rides more as it gives me much more cornering control and pickup. The Hondas (especially the SI) seem to have the edge on this one. The Lancer EX manual also packs a pretty good punch. The Camry and Cefiro feels sedate though. 3. Engine - I'm not too sure on this one. Cefiro has the V6. Epica has the 6 in-line. The rest have 4 in-line. How different are they from each other? What are the advantages of V6 and 6 in-line? 4. Fuel Efficiency - I know the Cefiro is a guzzler. The Camry and Civic seems to have better efficiency. 5. Budget - As mentioned earlier, I hope to keep my expense down to 80 - 110K range. Road tax and insurance are also amongst my considerations. The car should also be reliable so that I don't have to make trips to the workshop. 6. Mods - Seems very ironic to talk about this since I'm looking at primarily Ah-Pek cars. However I do poison my ride. I know the Hondas have good chance for mods. In conclusion, I've test driven all the above cars except Euro-R. For each car, something seems to be missing. Hope that fellow brothers comments could help me make up my mind. Cheers.
  5. Bros, can I have comments on this car: http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=77968 Is this a good deal? Thanks!
  6. Wonder anyone has any news on when the facelift camry will be out? both thai n jeepun ones? looking into getting one. hopefully they will also upgrade their engines, like the sonata facelift, hp up from 147 to 164, impressive. if the facelift camry can install 160bhp for 2 litre n 180bhp for 2.4, it will b nice n very value for money to get one. cheers
  7. Have they solved the problem with the 2006 camry? Or rather, cleared their stock of protruding exhaust pipes which tend to scrape humps? For those who dunno what i'm talking about, take a lot below any camry (and the lower end model of lexus too i think, the GS or ES 300, sorry i not too familiar with lexus ) and you will observe a bend of exhaust pipe which is damn low. I'm asking cos my dad is a camry "fan". wants to replace his ah pek camry with the new one. After checking out the pics n specs I'm quite interested too, but the exhaust pipe thingy is a real pain at some carparks.. That's with a stock camry, i dun think anyone lowers their camry unless they change the exhaust first!

  15. New Camry looks much better, but still shares same engine as old Camry, and with heavier body, new Camry 2.0 is underpowered.
  16. Hi, can anyone advise me the equipment different between a Toyota Camry 2.4A and a 2.0A one. No need to advise on the technical specification which is available on line. Thank you vm.
  17. TOKYO - A Japanese labor bureau has ruled that one of Toyota's top car engineers died from working too many hours, the latest in a string of such findings in a nation where extraordinarily long hours for some employees has long been the norm. The man who died was aged 45 and had been under severe pressure as the lead engineer in developing a hybrid version of Toyota's blockbuster Camry line, said Mikio Mizuno, the lawyer representing his wife. The man's identity is being withheld at the request of his family, who continue to live in Toyota City where the company is based. In the two months up to his death, the man averaged more than 80 hours of overtime per month, according to Mizuno. He regularly worked nights and weekends, was frequently sent abroad and was grappling with shipping a model for the pivotal North American International Auto Show in Detroit when he died of ischemic heart disease in January 2006. The man's daughter found his body at their home the day before he was to leave for the United States. The ruling was handed down June 30 and will allow his family to collect benefits from his work insurance, Mizuno said. An officer at the Aichi Labor Bureau on Wednesday confirmed the ruling, but declined to comment on the record. In a statement, Toyota Motor Corp. offered its condolences and said it would work to improve monitoring of the health of its workers. There is an effort in Japan to cut down on deaths from overwork, known as "karoshi." Such deaths have steadily increased since the Health Ministry first recognized the phenomenon in 1987. Last year, a court in central Japan ordered the government to pay compensation to Hiroko Uchino, the wife of a Toyota employee who collapsed at work and died at age 30 in 2002. She took the case to court after her application to the local labor bureau for compensation was rejected. In the company I am working now, it's a norm to work over 100hrs of OT per month....
  18. Just checking anyone happen to see the JDM Camry as Taxi? I happen to see one just now but I was driving and it appear at the traffic junction turning right ahead of me so no chance to take a photo. The JDM Camry still have the licence plate number hang around the bonnet area, guess it has gone through registration yet.
  19. Hi, looking for the current Thai Camry rear lip spoiler. May I know where can I buy them ? Thank you.
  20. The taxi SHB9xx6K was on right lane. He signalled and switched over my lane, without giving me enough time to react, thus i had to take evasion action by braking hard. I gave a horn and immediately he stepped on the brakes even harder, causing me to jam my brakes in order not to hit him. When approached the traffic light in front, i switch lane and stop beside him. He gave me a unpleasant gesture to show his displeased. I winded down my window and ask what's his problem when he mentioned that he had already signalled and that it was my fault for not giving way to him. Does it mean that when someone signal and change lane, people will have to give way to him no matter what, or that he owns the road. He even said that he is only driving a taxi, don't mess with him. Does it again mean that taxi drivers owns the road, and they can switch lane whenever they like? He even told me to complain if i am not appy for his action, which i am doing now. Already feedback to the company n LTA, where else can i complain, to teach this errant driver a lesson.
  21. Which would you choose? Why? I would choose Accord, simply because - Accord comes in 5 speed auto (against Camry's 4 sp auto) - Accord is S$6,000 cheaper than the Camry - Accord carries Honda's F1 racing technology - Honda's overall built quality and finishing is better - Accord's glitches, if any, has been sorted out. Camry is a new model, and there is bound to be some glitches, as in all new models * Prices refer to 2 litre models sold in Singapore
  22. Hi I am considering getting a 2nd hand Mark X or Camry PI. Cant decide on one of them. Can anyone advise me based on the following: 1) Comfort (sound insulation etc) 2) Space 3) Engine 3) Fuel consumption 4) Warranty period and maintenance cost 5) Subsequent resale value in open market Thanks for your advise.
  23. Hiya, anyone know the estimated cost of a camry 07 bonet and preferred stocklist to go to? Cheers
  24. With the new Honda Accord 2008, what would be your choice for a family sedan? My personal favourite is Accord, but at sub-100K price, it lacks keyless entry and the buttons-full interior is a minus. Camry is too common on the road and now also used as a taxi. one plus point is CNG option for JDM model carried by PI. Nissan Cefiro is my last choice due to its poor FC, and ah-pek outlook.
