  1. which ride u pick? jetta GLI 2 litre 200bhp engine vs ralliart mivec 2 litre 240 bhp both got space fetching people around $115k vs $116 k who to pick
  2. VW Jetta 1.6L now selling for only $79,000. that's the cheapest german car that is available for budget conscious family man. In terms of width it's wider than the 2 jap cars, meaning 3 people seating behind will feel less squeezy. And it's 6 speed auto, beating the civic that is 5 speed auto. Fuel economy is at 12.2km/l, matching or better than the civic 1.8. But the 0-100km/h timing is miserable at 13.3sec, with power only at 102bph. Altis is 12.2sec/107bph. Civic 1.8 I think is under 10sec. the wheelbase is 2578mm so expect not so good legspace, also losing to the 2 jap cars. Kerb weight is also the heaviest. So with this consideration: Altis 1.6A $69,000 key winning factor: price, quiet ride. Civic 1.8A $78,000 key winning factor: acceleration, driver's car. Jetta 1.6A $79,000 key winning factor: it's a conti german car. (i will never consider 1.6 civic so it's out from my buying list). Will you choose the Jetta 1.6A? (note that the other version is 1.4A which has the same engine as the golf gti and cost close to $100K).
  3. Care to share what's your insurance premium like? Thanks!
  4. Anyone know anything about this car? Anyone owns one here? Comments, please.

  7. New B&B VW Golf /Jetta TSI Text & photos courtesy B&B Automobiltechnik GmbH 04-04-2006 With up to 240 horsepower ! The VW Golf / Jetta with its newest 1.4 TSI engine is being power enhanced to the maximum by the Siegen-based automobile tuning company B&B with a product package that includes several power enhancement stages. The three-stage engine tuning package starts off with an adjustment to the electronics and a slight increase in boost pressure, which brings the 1.4 liter engine to a powerful 200 horsepower and 300 Nm performance level for only 998,- EUR. The following changeover stages produce 210 and 240 horsepower, respectively, with which the VW Golf /Jetta 1.4 TSI accelerates to 100km per hour in just 6.5 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 240 km/h. To achieve this high performance our technicians at B&B replace the standard turbocharger with a changed version and round off the tuning measures with an optimization of the charge air cooling, injection system, air induction system, and electronic engine control. To further reduce exhaust temperatures and back pressure the VW Golf /Jetta is equipped with a special exhaust system that includes a larger downpipe and a high-performance racing catalyst.
