  1. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/571275/lexus-ct200h-production-end-japan-cherished-touring-edition/ We would forgive you for forgetting about the Lexus CT because there's not much memorable about it, but the hybrid hatchback is finally going out of production in Japan in October 2022. To mark the retirement, Lexus is building a final special edition that it calls the Cherished Touring. The Lexus CT200h Cherished Touring edition is available in two exclusive color schemes. There is a Sonic Titanium roof and a Graphite Black body or a Sonic Titanium roof and Sonic Quartz white body. Regardless of the shade, the spindle grille, fog light surrounds, and rear bumper trim have a shiny, silver finish. The other extra amenities include electrically retracting, heated door mirrors and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, the Cherished Touring edition has two-tone upholstery that makes the lower portion of the seats and door panels black and the upper parts dark red. There's matching red stitching on the door trim, instrument panel, knee pads, and steering wheel. The model comes standard with heating for the steering wheel and seats. Like every example of the CT200h, power comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 98 horsepower (73 kilowatts) and 105 pound-feet (142 Newton-meters) of torque by itself. The electric motor contributes 80.5 hp (60 kW) and 153 lb-ft (207 Nm). Lexus' Japanese site for the CT200h doesn't list the total system output, but the specs suggest it's the same 134 hp (100 kW) from other markets The CT200h Cherished Touring edition retails for 4,223,000 yen after taxes in Japan ($36,580 at current exchange rates). This is how a 2011 Lexus CT200h looks like.
  2. An anonymous source has e-mailed what appears to be a digital press kit produced by Lexus for next week's Geneva Motor Show. The pages of the kit reveal photos and details of the Lexus CT 200h five-door hybrid, set for a debut at the Geneva event. The full hybrid is based on the LF-Ch concept shown at the Frankfurt show in 2009. It features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine and a magnet synchronous electric motor. The company has not published performance details, but they do say that the motor is "powerful." Nickel-metal hydride is used for the high voltage battery. Power is sent to the front wheels via a electrically-controlled contiuously variable transmission, or E-CVT for short. The car remains a sleek five-door, just like the concept. It has sporty overhangs at the front and back, and a well-placed rear spoiler. The car looks to have LED rear lighting. At 4,320mm long, the car is 140mm shorter than the Toyota Prius. The Lexus is 1,765mm wide by 1,430mm high; 20mm x 50mm less than the Prius. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, and features McPherson/front- and double wishbone rear suspension. Lexus wants to use this car to prove that full hybrids do not have to be boring drives. They claim the car has "superior handling agility" to suit their customers' wishes, and three driving modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport) to adjust to different situations. Again, Lexus remained vague about sprint times, overtake ability, and top speed. Hopefully, these details and more will be released at the Geneva Motor Show. The leaked information also reveals data about Lexus LFA sales orders which states allocation will be fixed in April, while individual orders will be confirmed to customers in May. Demand has surpassed the announced 500 units set to be produced.
  3. The next Lexus CT is likely to be offered as a pure EV, as well as hybrid, when it arrives in 2020. Lexus is planning a radical successor to its CT hatch – and the newcomer could be offered as a pure-electric Tesla Model 3 rival, as well as a petrol hybrid. The existing CT Hybrid is still being sold in several countries, where its hybrid-only powertrains have given it an extended lease of life. But the forthcoming arrival of the new UX small crossover had been expected to sideline the five-door hatch. Lexus’s European boss Pascal Ruch has said that a CT successor is on the way, and the brand is looking to offer “something different” to counter the Mercedes A-Class and BMW 1 Series.. Lexus may decide to shake up the CT’s design, too. The car will have to rival both the A-Class and GLA – and we understand a number of proposals are under consideration, including a hatch and a crossover that mixes SUV cues with a less upright stance. The CT is likely to arrive in 2020 as a sister model to the Auris, sharing that car’s TNGA platform. And while no pure EVs have been introduced on that architecture, it’s understood to be compatible with the brand’s goal of offering “more than 10 battery-electric models” by the early 2020s.

    Details of Lexus CT200h

The CT200h is Lexus' first attempt at building a "full hybrid" model, which means that the car can be driven exclusively in all-electric mode. The Lexus CT200h is the much-toned-down production model of the LF-Ch concept shown last year. Measuring 4,320mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,430mm tall, this five-door model is more compact that the Toyota Prius but is slightly longer than the Audi A3 Sportback. This baby Lexus is developed to rival BMW's 1 series and is powered by a hybrid drivetrain that couples a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric-drive motor-generator. Power output figures are not known at the moment but I guess they should not be too far off from the 1.8L hybrid unit powering the Prius. Energy is stored in a nickel-metal hybrid battery pack while power is delivered to the front wheels through an electrically controlled continuously variable transmission. we'll have the full monty of the CT 200h in less than a week's time at the Geneva Motorshow.
