  1. Saw the VW Sharan on the papers yesterday... I posted a thread on my dad wanting to change his Estima quite some time back.. Do you guys think , space and performance wise , the Sharan is better or go for Vellfire/Alphard/Elgrand? The Sharan looks not bad , 200bhp from a 2L TFSI engine is fantastic.. RT cheaper , FC better.. Please input your comments ... I am open to other suggestions as well..
  2. They look huge, getting closer to Alphard and Vellfire. The twin will be unveiled in Japan in Jan 2022. Stay tuned.
  3. I sat in the LM and Alphard during recent motorshow. The LM need to sign in with personal info then can go in to sit. The Alphard feels more posh and better in every aspects. My kid also say Alphard better and he is nuts about big MPVs. (It was a low end LM300 and hi end Alphard there.)
  4. my clasmate driving AhFart aka Alphard can hit 5 figure he said very relax
  5. The MPV look gigantic in size (5 mm shy of 5 m from end to end), and finally available in 2.4L Turbo, producing a healthy 275 horsepower and 430 NM. Toyota has unveiled the fourth-generation Alphard alongside the Vellfire. These follow the recently introduced posh Lexus LM, a mechanically related vehicle based on the same TNGA-K platform. The twin are the first Toyota models to have steps on both left and right sliding doors, with a step emerging about 220 millimeters above ground. The boxy minivans are 4995 mm long and share a massive wheelbase stretching at 3000 mm. Both are 1850 mm wide while height depends on the model and trim level, either 1935 mm or 1945 mm. The Alphard and Vellfire can seat up to six people in a 2+2+2 layout with second-row captain's chairs. There's now an extra 5 mm between the first two rows and an additional 10 mm between the second and third rows. Both can be had with front- or all-wheel drive as well as a hybrid powertrain, with a plug-in hybrid setup to be added later. The most powerful of the bunch is a turbocharged 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine available in the Vellfire. "Tuned to deliver a sporty sound," it makes 275 hp (205 kilowatts) and 430 Newton-meters of torque. Customers can also pick a hybrid based on a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with a combined output of 250 hp (184 kW). Lesser Alphard models have a non-electrified, naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, four-cylinder unit with 180 hp (134 kW) and 235 NM. Depending on the engine, the minivans come with a CVT, an e-CVT, or an eight-speed automatic.
  6. Learn from the sexpert Use Alphard/Veilfire Best if got PHV decal
  7. Got money but no manners. Or basic human decency. Watch the video to see why. What happened? On 10 June, last Saturday at the Johor-Singapore Causeway, a Malaysian Toyota Alphard decided that it would be better to risk going to jail and injuring a traffic marshal instead of facing the consequences. The Toyota was seen driving on the bus-lorry lane. This is seen as soon after it passes by the camcar on screen, a bus appears behind the Alphard. This did not go unnoticed by traffic marshals either, who were shown telling the Toyota to turn around and go to the start of the queue. Making a move to go to the right, the Toyota made a feint as if to comply before righting itself and going full speed ahead, before the officers could do something. If the officers made a move to block the Alphard from continuing straight, it is likely injuries would have occurred. Online chatter Many are angry that the Toyota driver can behave in such a manner, and call for punishments such as jail or being banned from entering Singapore again. Others are resigned, saying that the driver can simply come back to Singapore with new plates and get away scot-free. Punishment? The comments about swapping plates intrigued me. So I did some research about what measures are there to find this person again. If you don’t know, when travelling by car on the Causeway you need a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP)/ Autopass card. This card would require your registration with your passport or identification card. So in theory, even if the driver comes back with a different number plate, the authorities can still catch them by looking at the current name attached to the current number plate and blacklist it! This way, the driver will be caught on their next attempt to come to Singapore. Here’s to hoping the law prevails. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  8. That is why i hate to follow Big MPV like Alphard with Dark Rear Windscreen, can hardly see in front & many of them are PHV which Hog the 1st Lane.
  9. Lexus had a LM300 in a corner and a fence to cordon it from people. You have to fill in a interest form (personal info, contact, some questions on your interest in the car) then they let you in to touch the car. I don't have any interest in any mpv, but my son who is carzy about big luxurious mpv wanted to sit in it hence i filled in the form. (but I don't think they will be able to reach me). Btw, his fav is alphard and the mifa 9.
  10. You buy Lexus for the 4 seaters. 7 seaters? Alphard/Veilfire
  11. The point is there is also career progression possibility. Upgrade to airport, MoM or ICA-HQ etc. No such possibility with Grab unless switch from Mazda 2 to Alphard.
  12. SINGAPORE – High certificate of entitlement prices are not quelling motor dealers’ appetite to grow their portfolios. Premium Automobiles, the retail dealer for Audi, has just been appointed the distributor for Zeekr, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand from Chinese automotive giant Geely. The agreement was signed in late December. The showroom for the brand will be built in the Leng Kee Road area in the first half of the year, Premium Automobiles said in a statement sent to The Straits Times late on Dec 28. The service facility will be in the Ubi industrial area. When asked, Premium Automobiles said the details are still being finalised for their exact locations, but added that these will be dedicated facilities that will not be shared with Audi cars, which the company will continue to sell. Zeekr will be launched here with two models – 009, which is a multipurpose vehicle (MPV), and X, a sports utility vehicle (SUV). Deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2024. The 009 MPV is over 5.2m long, which makes the six-seater bigger than the latest generation Toyota Alphard, which measures just under 5m. Premium Automobiles did not confirm the exact specifications of the models, but the 009 MPV has a promised range of 800km on a full charge. Its dual motor set-up offers maximum power of 400 kilowatts, enabling it to sprint from 0kmh to 100kmh in 4.5 seconds, and making it the world’s fastest MPV. The X SUV is about the same size as the Nissan Qashqai at 4.4m long. Two versions are offered in the other markets where Zeekr is already operating. One has a 200kW motor that powers the rear wheels and boasts a range of up to 440km and the other is a zippier 315kW dual-motor all-wheel-drive version that can cover 400km on a single charge. Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau will be the first places where Zeekr right-hand drive cars are available. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/chinese-ev-maker-zeekr-s-cars-to-be-sold-in-singapore-with-deliveries-from-q3-2024
  13. TL;DR - A Malaysian-registered Toyota Alphard jumped in line and forced its way into a jam-packed lane at JB Checkpoint, causing his car to get scratched. The driver then demanded the cam car for compensation sparking an argument between both drivers. The New Year long weekend means more cars stuck at the causeway for a long time. But, that also means tempers will rise and the chances of a mishap occurring increases. To be honest, I would be surprised if the weekend went by without incident. Watch this 96-second road rage confrontation for one such incident. What happened? Footage of the incident showed that there were long snaking queues at the JB checkpoint as the cam car and a Malaysian registered Alphard approached the merging lane. The Alphard driver winded down his window to signal his intention of merging into the cam car’s lane. However, the cam car seemed to be caught off guard and thus, moved forward as well. This resulted in the Alphard grazing the front of the cam car. Undoubtedly, it sparked anger as the Alphard driver came out of his car to take picture proof of the cam car, and continued to display gestures of unhappiness. The driver allegedly demanded for compensation for the damage caused (but it is unclear how this incident was resolved). Online Chatter: Seems like netizens are faulting the Alphard driver for being a reckless driver. Takeaway Regardless, we should all be nice on the road - don't be so 'kanchiong'! All it takes is a little bit of graciousness and consideration from every road user. This kind thought will only slow you down for three seconds, but it will definitely save you from hours of anger afterwards. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. This is likely a modified Alphard rather than a real previous gen LM
  15. I think this is previous Gen which is copy and paste from Alphard
  16. If I were you, I will just take grab. Even if u call for Alphard or Lexus grab car every time, it’s cheaper than owning any car. assuming your COE is $60k, every week already burn $115 (60k/520 weeks) on COE alone.
  17. Then maybe is a MPV Alphard or a Hearse driven by @RadX's Worker.
  18. This thread is for sharing of car model not available in Singapore. It is not necessary that the car must be something exotic, very rare or for that matter, cost you an arm and leg (well, every car here cost us an arm and leg already...) I still remembered in the early 90s (during the pre-internet era), when I made my first overseas trip to Europe, I was like a mountain tortoise, staring at every car model on the street, and spending half of my photo films shooting nothing but just "rare" cars that I have never seen in Singapore, hahaha OK, let me start the ball rolling, and these few are high on my list (and many more to come)... BMW X1 LWB. I am a sucker for LWB model, as the additional leg room in the rear make the car feel a class high than standard wheelbase model. BMW 5 Series LWB. Who will need a 7 Series if we can have this model... 3rd Generation Honda Accord (JDM). I am also a fan of pop up headlight... Honda Odyssey (USDM). This make it a very good competitor to the Alphard and like... Kia Grand Carnival. Another great looking full size MPV... 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir. A direct competitor to the highly acclaimed Mazda CX9...
  19. They don't look like cars to me. I have always suspected that Starex, alphard and vellfire are actually vans and buses in disguise. This new implementation confirmed my thoughts!
  20. We review plenty of cars. But actually, most cars spend more of their time stationary - i.e. in a parking lot. So, we thought it might also be useful (and kinda fun) to also take some time to review carparks. In fact, carparks are a function of urban design and architecture - separate but not independent of us as car users. The reality, also, is that carparks are not built equally (even building standards and statutes change over time). First one, then. Ocean Financial Centre, right smack in the heart of Raffles Place. Manoeuvrability: Tight or not? Generally okay. The carpark is built within an awkwardly-shaped space, so there are pillars everywhere and rows of lots in slightly odd angles. In general, it's on the narrow-ish side, but definitely passable for most modern cars. It accommodates big cars, as evidenced by the Alphard in the carpark, so towkay 5 Series and E-Classes should have no issue. 7/10 Ease of navigation: Confusing or not? Not too confusing. There are multiple ways to turn within the carpark, and there are also some dead ends. But otherwise, it's a sensibly laid out carpark with good signage throughout. It's also worth pointing out that there's no access back to B1 from B2/B3. You must exit, then re-enter. 7/10 Lot availability: Crowded or not? 220 lots available, and it's sort of crowded. It's CBD, so it's always going to be crowded on weekdays. But because it's so expensive, the public parking area is not going to be full (season parking is above ground, not underground), and lots are generally available on the lower floors. 7/10 Cost: Expensive or not? Horrifyingly. $1.20/10min from 6am to 6.29pm. That's $7.20 an hour. You'll be hard pressed to find more expensive parking than this (in the vicinity, the only more shocking one is The Sail @ Marina Bay at $4/hr). Even after working hour charges ($5.90/entry) is more expensive than you'll find across most CBD carparks. 0/10 EV Chargers: Can charge or not? Yes. There's one. Availability is probably going to be an issue, but at least a charging lot exists. 1/10 Motorcycle lots: Bike-friendly or not? No. Booo 👎 There are bicycle bays though. 0/10 Accessibility: Can find or not? Yes. Not hard to find, it's along Collyer Quay, just keep left from Finlayson Green. That general area is a traffic nightmare, but the carpark itself is very accessible. 8/10 Overall verdict: Good or not? It's a good carpark, if you needed to park your car (not motorbike) at Raffles Place - well located, fairly easy to negotiate, lot availability should never be an issue (unless you want to charge your EV). But god damn the price. 4/10
  21. So many questions left unanswered ? While I applaud for this movement that pull the plug on illegal starex kind of vehicles, What if own vehicle like odyssey, alphard or Serena needs to bring 3 gen of family members across, the elderly also need to disembark and walk or queue through immigration??
  22. Alamak those doing shuttle service (Msia reg) spoil market. Alphard, Staria (Window tinted orh Lu Lu) cut queue like no tml. Drive on bus/lorry lane then cut into car merging lane. One Jiuhu passport the rest SG passports.
  23. Actually looking at the big picture, this move is not going to have any impact on the jam situation as the number of Malaysia-registered Starex/Alphard/Vellfire/Staria is not such a big number to begin with, should be way less than 1% of total cars crossing the borders. So basically is more to do with serving justice or plugging any transport loophole. To those crossing by cars should not have significant impact, jam would still be there lah. And if the operators start to use large sedans like being shared to fight back since this is lucrative business, then this is never going to go away. Better to focus energy on other measures to relieve the jam situation lah.
  24. not sure if true or not <quote> Immigration & Checkpoints Authority Singapore announced that starting from January 2, 2024, all MPV models entering & exiting Tuas Checkpoint 24hrs will be forced to use the bus lane to pass customs. Passengers who use Tuas Checkpoint to enter the bus need to get off the bus by themselves and take their luggage with them. Go to the bus channel and queue up to scan their passports. Passengers who are returning via Tuas Checkpoint need to get off the bus by themselves but do not need to take their luggage with them. MPV SUV models are probably: Toyota Innova, Toyota Alphard, Toyota Vellfire, Hyundai Starex, Hyundai Staria, etc. <unquote> https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=676422384673162&id=100069162199391&mibextid=ox5AEW
