  1. Exactly my thoughts! Kinda excited to take back my deposit in two months. In the meantime can continue to shop for cars. I'm planning to take a look at Aion Y Plus as well. Other than the boxy design, it's cheaper and more spacious as compared to Atto 3.
  2. True enough! My purchasing price was 142888 for Atto 3, loan 50% for 5 years. I think the deal is too good to be true now haha...
  3. Officially unveiled at the Vantage Automotive Centre, the Atto 3 debuts as BYD's first-ever contender in the local compact crossover segment. Coincidentally, the SUV also marks the third passenger-car model by the Chinese maker here, following in the footsteps of the best-selling e6 and van-turned-MPV M3e. A single permanent magnet synchronous motor, paired to a 60.5 kWh Blade Battery, helps to produce 201bhp (150kW) and 310Nm of torque - apparently good for a 7.3 second century sprint. With the Blade Battery, the crossover's NEDC-rated range also clocks in at an impressive figure of 480km. Thanks to its battery architecture, DC fast charging via CCS at up to 80kW is offered on the Atto 3, bringing the battery from 20% to 80% state-of-charge within 42 minutes. AC charging at up to 6.6kW, on the other hand, will see a full recharge done in 9.5 hours. Worth noting is that the Atto 3 falls under the A1 band of the VES, allowing it to qualify for the highest ARF rebate of $25,000. The Atto 3 comes with a refreshing dual-tone interior, mixing blue and beige upholstery (in our eyes at least - the combination is called "Eclipse Blue + Hazy Grey" by BYD) with red-stitching on the seats. Shaped contours across the dash, guzheng-inspired strings along the door bins, and disc-like aircon vents all continue to distinguish the cabin of the crossover. While the driver gets a fully digital five-inch display behind the multi-function steering wheel, taking centerstage is the 12.8-inch Intelligent Rotating Infotainment Display, which can be oriented in either 'portrait' or 'landscape' mode. Another high-tech feature the car offers is the ability to be unlocked and locked via an NFC Keycard. Strangely, it appears that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will only be available in Q4, although Bluetooth Phone Connectivity does come as standard. A BYD OS App will also debut somewhere down the line. The marque's name is spelt out boldly in capital letters too on the car's electrically-operated tailgate, which opens up to 440 litres of boot space (this can be expanded to 1,340 litres with 60:40 folding seats). Five different colours are available for potential owners of the Atto 3, including Surf Blue and Parkour Red. Test drives for the BYD Atto 3 are now being offered and the car open for booking. Local authorised dealer E-Auto has also announced that the car will launch with a special price of $178,888 (the number is supposed to be auspicious), inclusive of COE. Feature Highlights Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto Wireless Smartphone Charging Inbuilt Navigation Electric Tailgate Sunroof Driver and Passenger Electric Seats 12.8" Intelligent Rotating Touchscreen 360° View Camera Adaptive Cruise Control Lane Keep Assist Lane Departure Warning Blind Spot Monitor Rear Cross Traffic Alert Front and Rear Pre-collision Warning Had the opportunity to visit Vantage before the Atto 3's official launch and I must say I left the showroom impressed with the direction BYD is going with its electric vehicles. Granted, the interior styling might be a bit tacky for some, but it is mighty packed with features. Full specs and features here.
  4. Atto 3 should be cheaper during promotion as dealer is very aggressive. Quality wise Atto 3 is good with a lot of soft torch area. Atto 3 design look young inside out. Altis look uncle, the center screen on Altis look design for 10yrs ago. Down side for Atto 3 is no scrap value as all EV rebate deduct away all.
  5. IMHO. Toyota/Lexus now have e-CVT. It is not the rubber band CVT per se but not sure why they call it CVT. 🤣 If it is ultimate driving machine, I feel UX and NX would be a mismatch. On paper, my smaller engine Toyota does 0-100 the same timing as the NX. I would say Atto 3 is efficient, it does not do justice to the instant torque for 0-100. If charging and range is non-issue, just got for EV.
  6. I was the passenger in the test drive. Not so much about the rubber band, it is more of...that it is just a very very very comfortable car, good quality car. But if I am going to pay ~300k, it better drives like an ultimate driving machine when I want it to or comfy when I need it to be, not just 2x better of a toyota. Tried atto 3 for fun, it is a very comfortable ride too for 160k with instant torque and efficiency. I had much more fun testdriving the MG4 which is also relatively comfortable but with much more character in the drive. It reminds me of my 3 series rides. Looking for hybrid or ev as possible next ride, so thought just gave lexus a try. Just mho. 🙏
  7. https://thedriven.io/2022/03/15/byd-seal-atto-4-electric-sportscar-to-rival-tesla-model-3-confirmed-for-australia/amp/ China doing what they do best, copying According to the source, this can do 0-100 in 3.9 s
  8. Alot is myth or unbalance comparision. For example if u compare Nissan leaf with with or vezel. If not mistaken all around 1.5t. I dun believe leaf got much worst tyre wear rate compare to the other 2. I dun own ev so I cannot say. But my dealing with commercial EV. BYD VAN 16' tyres. 195 width. 50k+. No rotate. China tyre. Rear tyres still 80%. Front tyres also haven't finish can last at least another 10-20k Nv200 diesel. Tyre 14' 175 width. 30-40k no rotate. China tyre. Front confirm botak. I would say the wear roughly same. Byd seal weight about 2.2t. 5 series weight about 2t. Seal tyres wear will be much worst then 5 series? I dun think so.? But of course if u compare a seal as a normal sedan car and compare it to a altis etc or compare a Tesla to a civic and say EV burn tyres. What can I say😂 Does a atto 3 wear tyres much faster then say a X5? Or do we compare a atto 3 to a wish? EV have been out for ages. Even BMW make EV earier then BYD? why now suddenly the west raise the white flag on EV. then suddenly so many such news come out🤔. For so many years I never see any similar report. Of course if every 1 drive their high end EV like going to F1. Confirm plus chop u gonna burn tyres fast. I test Tesla high end. Model Y. High power dun mean u cannot drive and pick up at traffic light gently. Of course. My 2 cents nia. ( some of the report on EV burn tyres is really 夸张。 machiam every 10-20k need change tyre. If like that u think think super niao prc will buy or not?)😂😂😂
  9. No one buy Altis already lah... gone are the day it sell like hot cake. Hard to see a new Altis on the road. I am seeing more new Atto 3.
  10. You bought atto 3 savers package during Jan motorshow? You will likely never get coe at all and asked to topup or cancel order. for conti car. Ppl who bought during motorshow Jan at around 65k cat a coe. Conti brand bidded up to 78k for the 65k coe purchase yet didn’t get it until now. It is 4th bid or something since Jan motorshow. What make you think your 45k will get it 😭 sensitive to say which brand but the conti brand asked me to top up 6K for confirmed coe. I top up. They bidded over 90k for 3rd April coe and got it at 89k. Heart pain for 6K but at least my coe paper value now is 89k instead of 65k according to the sale person. There is still a lot of cat A waiting to be registered as only around 15% of the current buyer willing to topup and next week is motorshow again
  11. Atto 3. Bought it during the road show at Thompson Plaza in early Mar. So far my SE has yet to contact me...
  12. exactly! I was actually considering between MG ZS and Atto 3. Eventually fell for Atto 3 for the size and technology. But price wise, MG ZS is much cheaper. I guess if I cannot secure COE with another 6 bids NG, I think it's fated for me to get MG ZS haha.
  13. The wheels reminds me of a BYD Atto
  14. Haha I think unlikely. But MG will definitely keep their price down given how popular Atto is. Well, I still got 3 more months to go...
  15. Hi all! Shall share my journey here as well for awareness. I booked an Atto 3 with EA during the Thompson road show. $142888, 8 bids NG. Went through 2 rounds of bidding so far. BYD bidded (2nd time) 46k for me on 20 Mar. Tbh I thought this was a waste of time but I guess they did it to honour their commitment. My SE has been silent so far, didn't ask me to top up. 6 more bids to go. I am not in a rush to get the car, but I may just go for MG after taking back my deposit.
  16. atto 3 interior not say obiang la but not say very nice. But the exterior i find not bad. Toyota/Honda recent models, not much fake wood trim i think.
  17. the design touches in atto 3 is obiang mah. It's like BUILD YOUR DREAMS on the back. Just garish. It's really PRC taste. Honda/toyota is ah pek. Fake wood trim 😁 It's like going to your grandparents house. Got no complaints about the Seal. That is a swee modern car. Me and the missus were discussing about BYD's chinese name, we expected it to have some chinese name with mo shui. but it's just based off their english name.
  18. @Lala81 atto 3 interior obiang then the Toyota and Honda really got nothing to say Liao 🤣
  19. Consider a few more of the usual suspects although i know you mentioned you have struck off the Atto 3 Selling price to you: $144,888 cat A Atto 3 Cost to seller: $123,849 + Y (cat A COE $79,000) Your residual value of the car on day 1 after taking delivery: $79,000 + X. Net paper loss on day 1 is $65,888 - X. This actually looks quite a bit better than the earlier choices - purely and only based on money. Selling price to you: $195,092 cat B Tesla Model 3 Highland Cost to seller: $195,092 + Y (cat B COE $102,338) Your residual value of the car on day 1 after taking delivery: $119,774 + X. Net paper loss on day 1 is $75,318 - X. Now see a typical cat A petrol car like the new Corolla Altis Facelift Selling price to you: $156,888 cat A Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Elegance Cost to seller: $136,124 + Y (cat A COE $79,000) Your residual value of the car on day 1 after taking delivery: $96,801 + X. Net paper loss on day 1 is $60,087 - X. Note: You may have promotional prices which are not taken into account etc. Above selling prices are based on their respective websites. lol @ some people wanting to play games with me when i provide the numerical figures. But, when someone else says the same thing in just words without math, he agrees with the logic. What a joke.
  20. I think there are other factors to consider when it comes to tyre wear. Weight is of course 1 main factor. Size of the wheels, loading index of the tyres, and material compound in that tyre used sld be taken into consideration also. I gathered these information below from sgcarmart, so assuming at point of post, such details are correct. The lightest atto3 is a little less than 1.8 tons, fitted with 18" stock wheels. the x1 is a little less than 1.6 tons, also fitted with 18" stock wheels. CRV is a 1.6 tons, and fitted with 17" stock wheels Kodiaq is a little less than 1.7 tons, fitted with 19" stock wheels. among them, the atto3 has the highest torque, while the rest are quite similar. So assuming they are all fitted with the same tyres, with the same loading index and material compound, would the X1 and kodiaq do better than the atto 3 in term of tyre wear? I think even the CRV will do better with the 17" wheels since it is the lightest among them. lets say we change the wheels of the atto3 to 19", would it bring the comparison closer? It would probably still wear out faster than the rest if the right foot floors from stand still every time since it has the highest torque, but will the damage gap close in? In the case of the i4 vs a 4 series, the different is close to 500kg, but the i4 is fitted with 19" while the 4 series 18", and the i4 alot more powerful with 100NM more of torque. Given all thing equal, will a 20" wheels do better for the i4? Lets look at the seal performance against the M3, and maybe add a camry just for comparison. There is a different of close to 400kg, but the seal is 19" while the M3 is 18", would they wear off about the same time? or maybe the seal just a little faster? The Carmy is only 1.6tons with a 18" wheel, and weakest among them. Will the tyres of both the seal and M3 wear off a lot faster than the camry? Logically I have to say yes. I am not for or against it, I keep seeing ppl saying EV tyres wear off faster, but i dont see it compare against who, what and how? From my personal experience, I have driven 1.6L cars with 15" wheels, 2L cars with 16" wheels and 1L turo cars with 17" wheels. Also driven CNG car with a 100kg extra tank in the boot, and their tyre wears are different. I mean yes, there is a theory, but how do we justified a theory without a lab test with all other factors involve? We cant just say its all in an ideal situation mah.
  21. @hansmith Thanks for your views. Car is indeed a rapidly depreciating asset. The no.2 car on my shortlist is the cat A iX1 -do you feel this is better value than the Ioniq 5? I note its 0-100km/h acceleration is a lot slower. Apart from these 2 cars, I don't have anything else that meets my requirements, except maybe the BYD Atto 3 though I find the interior extremely odd I am not used to the Tesla-style large tablet for controlling car functions, and no paddle shifters for selectable brake regen. Ok, looks like I have ruled the Atto 3 out ....
  22. This argument about EV tyres not going to wear our significantly faster is pretty in substantial. An atto 3 is 1800+kg. A normal crossover of that size would be usually 1300-1400+ kg. Top size would be a X1 at around 1500kg. A I4 is 2.2 tons. A BMW 4 series is 1.8 tons. That 300+ to 400kg difference is pretty consistent throughout any car with a decent size battery pack. Friction is friction. Kinetic energy (influenced by higher mass) will incur more friction. Giving credit to Teslas, they do better in this and hence their better efficiency. 1.8+ for the model 3 and around 2 tons for the Y. A Seal is 300 to 400kg heavier. But a regular BMW 3 series was just 1.5+ tons, maybe 1.6 if u add in the heaviest engine.
  23. Just read some EV news on my newsfeed. Byd just started selling Yuan (Atto 3) at lower price in china.
  24. would u go for altis or atto 😁
