  1. New Camry looks much better, but still shares same engine as old Camry, and with heavier body, new Camry 2.0 is underpowered.
  2. Hi, can anyone advise me the equipment different between a Toyota Camry 2.4A and a 2.0A one. No need to advise on the technical specification which is available on line. Thank you vm.
  3. TOKYO - A Japanese labor bureau has ruled that one of Toyota's top car engineers died from working too many hours, the latest in a string of such findings in a nation where extraordinarily long hours for some employees has long been the norm. The man who died was aged 45 and had been under severe pressure as the lead engineer in developing a hybrid version of Toyota's blockbuster Camry line, said Mikio Mizuno, the lawyer representing his wife. The man's identity is being withheld at the request of his family, who continue to live in Toyota City where the company is based. In the two months up to his death, the man averaged more than 80 hours of overtime per month, according to Mizuno. He regularly worked nights and weekends, was frequently sent abroad and was grappling with shipping a model for the pivotal North American International Auto Show in Detroit when he died of ischemic heart disease in January 2006. The man's daughter found his body at their home the day before he was to leave for the United States. The ruling was handed down June 30 and will allow his family to collect benefits from his work insurance, Mizuno said. An officer at the Aichi Labor Bureau on Wednesday confirmed the ruling, but declined to comment on the record. In a statement, Toyota Motor Corp. offered its condolences and said it would work to improve monitoring of the health of its workers. There is an effort in Japan to cut down on deaths from overwork, known as "karoshi." Such deaths have steadily increased since the Health Ministry first recognized the phenomenon in 1987. Last year, a court in central Japan ordered the government to pay compensation to Hiroko Uchino, the wife of a Toyota employee who collapsed at work and died at age 30 in 2002. She took the case to court after her application to the local labor bureau for compensation was rejected. In the company I am working now, it's a norm to work over 100hrs of OT per month....
  4. Just checking anyone happen to see the JDM Camry as Taxi? I happen to see one just now but I was driving and it appear at the traffic junction turning right ahead of me so no chance to take a photo. The JDM Camry still have the licence plate number hang around the bonnet area, guess it has gone through registration yet.
  5. Hi, looking for the current Thai Camry rear lip spoiler. May I know where can I buy them ? Thank you.
  6. The taxi SHB9xx6K was on right lane. He signalled and switched over my lane, without giving me enough time to react, thus i had to take evasion action by braking hard. I gave a horn and immediately he stepped on the brakes even harder, causing me to jam my brakes in order not to hit him. When approached the traffic light in front, i switch lane and stop beside him. He gave me a unpleasant gesture to show his displeased. I winded down my window and ask what's his problem when he mentioned that he had already signalled and that it was my fault for not giving way to him. Does it mean that when someone signal and change lane, people will have to give way to him no matter what, or that he owns the road. He even said that he is only driving a taxi, don't mess with him. Does it again mean that taxi drivers owns the road, and they can switch lane whenever they like? He even told me to complain if i am not appy for his action, which i am doing now. Already feedback to the company n LTA, where else can i complain, to teach this errant driver a lesson.
  7. Which would you choose? Why? I would choose Accord, simply because - Accord comes in 5 speed auto (against Camry's 4 sp auto) - Accord is S$6,000 cheaper than the Camry - Accord carries Honda's F1 racing technology - Honda's overall built quality and finishing is better - Accord's glitches, if any, has been sorted out. Camry is a new model, and there is bound to be some glitches, as in all new models * Prices refer to 2 litre models sold in Singapore
  8. Hi I am considering getting a 2nd hand Mark X or Camry PI. Cant decide on one of them. Can anyone advise me based on the following: 1) Comfort (sound insulation etc) 2) Space 3) Engine 3) Fuel consumption 4) Warranty period and maintenance cost 5) Subsequent resale value in open market Thanks for your advise.
  9. Hiya, anyone know the estimated cost of a camry 07 bonet and preferred stocklist to go to? Cheers
  10. With the new Honda Accord 2008, what would be your choice for a family sedan? My personal favourite is Accord, but at sub-100K price, it lacks keyless entry and the buttons-full interior is a minus. Camry is too common on the road and now also used as a taxi. one plus point is CNG option for JDM model carried by PI. Nissan Cefiro is my last choice due to its poor FC, and ah-pek outlook.

  14. The new Toyota Camry beside its predecessor. Against the likes of the Honda Accord (Euro version), Subaru Legacy and Mazda 6. If u ask me, the Camry looks pretty beefed up against its competitors - muscular even. But that's because the pictured new Camry is kitted. Expect the one landing our shores to be a little more understated. But it'd be bigger and more muscular than before nonetheless.
  15. a thread compare Euro R and Mark X, yes, the 2 cars orient to different consumer segment but Camry 2.4 is just nice as a competitor of Mark X Mark X: 2.5L Engine: DOHC Water Cool V6 24 Valves Max Output (bhp/rpm): 212/6400 Max Torque (Nm/rpm): 260/3800 (very good low end Torque) Transmission: Super Intelligent 6 Speed Automatic With Super ECT Curb Weight (kg): 1510 Price range: $81k ~ $95K (from PI) Camry 2.4 Engine: DOHC 16-valve VVT-i Max Output (bhp/rpm) : 165/6000 Max Torque (Nm/rpm) : 224/4000 Transmission: Super intelligent 5 speed automatic (5 Super ECT) Curb Weight (kg): 1500 Price: $97,488 (from Boneo Motor)
  16. ...not considering the almost-completely intangible resale value issue, that is. And why? Thanks in advance for feedback

  19. ST 10/10/06 ====================== TAXI commuters will soon be flagging down the Toyota Camry - arguably Singapore's most popular Japanese executive saloon. Taxi companies here are stepping up their search for alternative vehicles so they do not run afoul of the stricter Euro IV emission standard for diesel vehicles, which kicked in last week. The Toyota Crown and Nissan Cedric, which now make up 90 per cent of cabs here, fail to meet requirements. Smart Automobiles has decided on the Camry and has put the first one on the road. It plans to roll out at least 19 more. Their petrol engines will converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). It costs about $40,000, one of the least costly cabs here. Smart general manager William Chua said the first vehicle was registered under the Economic Development Board's scheme for innovative transport technologies, which means it gets a waiver of the Additional Registration Fee and Certificate of Entitlement. The other 19 may get a similar waiver. The other taxi firms are also looking to use new and untested models to replace the ubiquitous Toyota Crown and Nissan Cedric. The Straits Times understands that Japanese alternatives to these two workhorses will not be available until the second half of next year. Meanwhile, Jardine Cycle & Carriage has brought in two units of the turbodiesel Kia Magentis for taxi operators. Its chief executive (motor operations) Cheah Kim Teck noted that there seemed to be 'quite a bit of interest in the car', and that operators wanted to test it alongside the other Korean contender, the Hyundai Sonata. Taxi giant ComfortDelGro has been testing a pair of Sonatas since late last year, as well as a couple of Volkswagen Touran MPVs, but it has not made up its mind.
  20. At $89.8K, or $1K less than the Camry 2.0, the Accord wins in terms of horse power, the screaming VTEC engine and engine note which is music to my ears. Both are assembled in Thailand. There is less body roll than the Camry. In terms of interior space, it is a hard fight between the 2. The Accord looks less "uncle" in looks. If you want to be driven, choose the Camry. If you want to drive and feel the car, choose the Accord. My guess is the Accord sales will overtake the Camry's in the coming months.
  21. Take a look at the sportivo in black.. fierce http://camry.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/...272_0_1,00.html Manual Camry available for them too.
  22. What do you ppl think ... I like the JP front light and TH rear :-) http://toyota.jp/camry/index.html http://www.toyota.co.th/red/th/model/camry/camry_home.htm
