  1. Beauty is in the eye of beholder. The new look is too much a change for me, especially the odd looking C-pillar. OK I boomer, @RadX say one. Other than these few photos, Kia did not reveal any specification of the new Cerato replacement, which is schedule to debut on March 27, at the New York Auto Show.
  2. Driving a 2018 KIA Cerato. Speakers seemed spoilt (only 1 working) and need some advise. I don't need anything fancy, just simple speakers will suffice. 1) Can I just change the speakers without changing the head unit? 2) Any shop recommendation? I stay in the West. 3) What's the typical price range for changing 4 speakers? Any bang for buck speaker model recommendation?
  3. All-new 2019 Kia Forte unveiled at North American International Auto Show. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/forte/2019/2019-kia-forte-first-look-review/ https://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/media/pressreleases/13438/all-new-2019-forte-makes-world-debut-at-north-american-international-auto-show1
  4. Hi All, i had recently purchased a 'new' 08 kia cerato variant 2, intending it to service my needs of ferrying my family and kiddo around. Everything seems well and fine, until i went for a fan belt, water pump change 2 weeks later, as i want the car to be in perfect running condition. After the change, things starts going haywire.. the car temperature gauge starts to creep up past 1/2 point mark, till 3/4 to 'Hot'. This happened when i drove the car for some time (30 mins or so?) and when the car is idling either from traffic lights, or parked in the parking lot. Rev-ing the car in neutral, or moving off will result in temperature dropping. Fan is spinning when aircon is on, fan is spinning when aircon is off as well, hence mech said its isnt the issue. Went back to garage the next day, was advised to changed out radiator and refresh a few hoses, as the radiator were kinda chocked with, and it even choked several hoses as well. Thermostat had been removed as well -.- Sadly, after doing all the changes, the issue still persist. Noticed during the testing of car after installation done, air bubbles were present in the coolant reserve tank. Mech said most likely head gasket is gone as well. Curious any bro or sis or gurus had any similar experiences on this? how much roughly will the repair cost be this time? Sigh :/ Thanks!
  5. TL-DR- Kia Cerato tried to cut queue on Causeway and forced to turn back. Camcar does some research and finds out he owes TP money We usually say O$P$ when we want people to pay back what they owe with haste, and we usually associate it with loan sharks. However, our traffic police may want to take a page out of the ah longs’s book for this one. What happened? Our cam car was on the causeway one day when a Kia Cerato passed by him. The only issue is that this Kia was in a bus lane, exclusively for buses. Which they must have figured out eventually since a BUS was in front of them. Let alone all the other signage on the causeway. However, traffic police promptly directed the Kia to turn back to where it came from. In the face of authority, the driver could not do anything but comply after being caught. Sleuthing The camcar driver was not satisfied with this though, and did some digging on the KIA. Going through the Traffic Offense Payment Systems, he found out the Kia driver owed $700 for two separate offenses with one from December 2022. Bro has gone more than 4 months without paying his fines and is still driving. Online chatter Of course, many criticised the authorities for how the Cerato was still able to be roaming around and possibly enter Singapore despite outstanding fines. Others saw this as proof that punishments toward foreign cars were useless as they could simply escape back to their own country. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. TL;DR - Two cars were seen beating the red light at Jurong Gateway, clearly intentional from the way they slowly inched out bit by bit over the stop line. GOAT stands for Greatest of All Time. As the name suggests, GOAT is an internet slang initialism used to compliment an honorable mention. But not in this case. Watch this 63-second shocker to know what I mean. What happened? These two drivers were seen not conforming to the traffic light as they budged out of the stop line. As long as you have a bit of common sense, when the traffic light turns red and a green man appears, it means cars are supposed to stop for pedestrians to cross the road. We don’t need Albert Einstein’s IQ to know that. Do you reckon these two drivers firmly believe this is really their grandfather’s road? Or are they playing a game of drag race? Nobody asked but I would root for the Kodiaq, simply because it has a higher horsepower than the Cerato. (Not to mention, the Cerato also had a head start so it’s sort of playing ‘cheat’ here). Source: Sgcarmart Source: Sgcarmart Online Chatters They see me rollin', they hatin'... Regardless, it should be every driver’s utmost priority to be a safe driver not just for themselves but also for the wellbeing of other users. 7. A Honda Vezel with a license plate number of 6000 rams straight into a tree at Ubi outside the Opel showroom as shown in the picture below. This is not the first time a vehicle with a license plate number of ‘6000’ has gotten into trouble recently. In fact, this is correlated with a string of unfortunate incidents at Causeway and Second Link. Each vehicle also had a license plate with the number 6000, including the infamous ‘mother and son’ duo that had gone viral recently, stunning the internet when she managed to rip the license plate of the vehicle behind her and smash it into the windscreen. The Tuas Second Link road rage incident has become an internet sensation, sparking memes across social media as well as the doxxing of the woman involved in the incident. There was apparently also another recent incident with the license plate number ‘6000’ when the lorry plowed through cars on the Woodlands causeway, causing yet another eventful incident between the borders of Singapore and Malaysia. 11 vehicles were collided into based on the suspicion of faulty brakes. Many people have even bet on the number 6000 at 4D gambling outlets after these particular incidents with the age-old anticipation that it’ll be the winning number. This led to the phenomenon of the ‘6000’ number being fully sold out on the Singapore Pools website. Unfortunately, it did not end up being the winning number Back to the topic at hand… Coming back to this, it’s astonishing that the license plate number 6000 has managed to land itself into hot water once more. This time, the Honda Vezel has managed to ram itself headfirst into a tree at Ubi outside the Opel showroom. Almost makes you think what’s the point in bidding an insane amount for a premium license plate when it’s simply driven by ‘bodohs’ Judging from the prices found online, the price of a license plate with the numeral ‘6000’ in it seems to start from $3.9k to a whopping $7.4k. Just imagine bidding so much for a license plate just to have drivers like these take the wheel. Netizen Comments Netizens express their own take at the situation at hand, mostly bemoaning the bad luck that the license plate number apparently brings them. If you want a smooth sailing road trip, it might be best not to come close to a car with a license plate number of 6000. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. Have you heard of the domino effect? According to Google, it is referred to as "the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events". Watch the domino effect in action here: What Happened? A Honda Shuttle and a tipper truck slammed into each other as they decided to switch lanes simultaneously. The collision caused major damage to the Honda Shuttle, leaving it with a pretty wrecked rear with a shattered window. Debris also flew into the adjacent lanes, which caused a grey Honda Civic to jam brake on lane 2 of the expressway to avoid some pieces of small debris. As a result of the Honda Civic's emergency brake, a Kia Cerato Forte Koup behind it could not brake in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The rear-ending seemed pretty intense as the Honda Civic rolled several metres forward, despite its brakes being applied. Needless to say, the accident left the front bumper of the Kia a complete wreck too. Netizens' Comments The biker is very lucky. And kudos to him for remaining so calm! IMO, the Honda Civic driver most likely panicked and performed an e-brake. I am confused.... ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  9. Hi all, Going to collect car soon. Some newbie questions. 1. Will the warranty void if I upgrade the kia dashcam to other brand with battery pack connected to fuse box from outside workshop? 2. Will the warranty void if I upgrade the car battery to higher capacity battery? Any recommended brand and workshop? TIA
  10. My current ride will be scrapping in December, am considering between the Elantra S and Cerato EX not ruling out other options looks the Jazz 1.5 The Hyundai is at the tail end of its current facelift with 2019 model already announced. Whereas the Cerato is a brand new facelift. Was actually quite biased against against Kia before yesterday as I totally hated the old Cerato, forte, and k3. So my test drive for the Cerato was pretty biased also. Until yesterday after I paid a second visit to Hyundai, then decided to pop by C&C just to look at the c4 cactus, the Cerato was parked outside. The more I look at it, the more the looks grow on me. So went inside the showroom again, have a sit inside the Cerato’s cabin......is like totally win the Elantra many times over. I don’t reallly mind the exterior of the Elantra S but I find the interior very dated. The Cerato EX cost more, but the equipment level is close to the Elantra elite. Weight wise, the Elantra is 100kg heavier Engine wise, the Cerato is using an older generation engine. (This is my main concern) I test drive both cars, but am unable to get any head on conclusion as I went to test drive the Elantra at leng kee and the Cerato at ubi. I don’t know is it psychological, but the Hyundai felt smoother and picks up abit easier. The additional 50l boot space of the Cerato doesn’t concern me much.
  11. In this footage uploaded by SG Road Vigilante, a speeding Kia Cerato lost control and collided with a Blue Toyota Prius along CTE (Before Yio Chu Kang Exit). LATEST UPDATE : According to TNP, two men were arrested for suspected drink driving. Meanwhile, the driver of the car that flipped over looked to be in a bad condition. The SCDF said the driver & his passenger were taken to Sengkang General Hospital. Both were conscious. (Source) Here's the video: Here's the unfortunate Prius, driving patiently on a relatively empty CTE: After the Cerato collided, it sent both cars crashing into the railing, and the poor Prius was flipped over. We're not sure why the Cerato lost control, because it's a relatively straight road. We're also not sure how fast the Cerato was going, but it looked like it was speeding. Here's the reaction between the passenger and driver of the cam car: Cam Car Driver: Why are they speeding, for what??? Cam Car Passenger (Man) A: Maybe drunk? *after driving off* Cam Car Passenger (Lady): Thank you so much for being alert! Cam Car Driver: I wasn't being alert - we are lucky! We are f***ing lucky man!!! The video also sparked some reactions by fellow netizens: We hope the drivers and passengers in involved in the accident are okay, and will post an update here once we receive the latest news.
  12. No, it's not clickbait! The Cerato drove right into the motorist and sends him sprawling from shock and the impact. This happened on 20th January, on the west coast highway, The Cerato driver obviously had his eyes on the wheel, apparently, given how he drove right into the motorist. Who would've thought that this day would come? That we'd actually see an idi*t blatantly driving into someone else. I braced myself watching this and felt my heart wrench into anxious anticipation of what could happen LOL. My guess is that the driver was either irresponsibly texting, using his mobile phone or making TikTok videos. Or, he could have dozed off for a bit after a late night's up – but this doesn't absolve him of any responsibility for being such a road hazard. This looks like a scene in a drama where xxx tries hurt zzz out of jealousy and tries to make it look like an accident. Like in Stairway To Heaven. *dramatic heart-wrenching angry music plays* 🥺 Here's what the others on SG Road Vigilante's YT channel had to say: Attempted murder is a tad dramatic but the hit was so blatant and head-on!!! Ugh, some people really don't deserve to drive. 🥵🥵🥵 Imagine your body sprawled on the highway with cars furiously zooming by, still unaware of whatever happened... yikes. My heart goes out to the poor unsuspecting motorist who did not see it coming, literally. I hope he's alright – mentally and physically. No sympathy for the Cerato, unless he had a pretty damn good reason for this. This Cerato driver is the epitome of "your eyes grow on your buttock" ok. 😤
  13. Budget about $30K Depri about $5K I30 vs Avante vs Cerato Any thoughts on these or any other recommendations?
  14. Other than the highly modified projects Kia brought to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, it also launched the new Cerato GT for the American market. On sale in Korea already as the K3 GT, the go-faster Cerato GT has been given a boost in terms of performance and handling. Equipped with the 1.6-litre turbocharged direct-injected (T-GDI) four-cylinder that makes 201bhp and 264 Nm of torque, the car can be had with either a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, or a six-speed manual. Handling wise, the GT gets independent multilinks unlike the standard car's torsion beam suspension at the rear, allowing the GT to handle better. Credit has to also go to the larger anti-roll bars and the 18-inch multi-spoke alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rubber. The brakes has also been upgraded to cope with the increase in power. Elsewhere, the car gets a more aggressive front bumper, black door mirrors, deeper side skirts, a subtle rear boot spoiler and a dual exhaust system. There is no word on whether the Cerato GT will make it to our shores but judging from history, it seems unlikely.
  15. Hi all, I bought a second hand Kia Cerato V2 manual transmission about a year ago. Generally very satisfied with the car however whenever the car is stucked in a heavy jam under hot sun, i tend to experience the clutch pedal to be gradually harder and harder to be depressed ( to a point it feels like racing clutch). However after i cleared the jam and travelled for about 15mins the clutch feel will be back to normal. Wondering if any other bros experienced such issues before. My previous kelisa and vios manual transmission did not experience such issues before. Looking forward to kind inputs and suggestions. Cheers.
  16. I have tried to search for similar issue in this forum, but couldn't find any. So I decide to start a new thread, hope someone can advice me. The issue with my 2009 Kia Cerato Forte steering wheel is when travelling at highway speed (eg. 100km/h), whenever i need to make a slight adjustment to the steering wheel (eg. 5 degrees to the right), the steering wheel seems to stuck, and I need to use a bit of strengthen to turn it. This has nothing to do with the steering wheel getting heavier at higher speed. I don't encounter the same issue when travelling at low speed. I think my car's steering wheel is electric powered, as when I open the bonnet, I don't see steering fluid reservoir. Anyone has any idea what's wrong with the steering wheel on my car?
  17. Hi bros, fellow colleague wants to choose between the 3 cars....even though they may not be of the exact price range. Any bros who have experience in these 3 cars can feedback the goods and bads of each one? hehe
  18. Dear All.. I would like to seek advise from all of u on regards of these 2 cars. Thanx very much!1
  19. Kia has just recently revealed its new Cerato K3 in America. Feeling pretty confident about its new product, it decides to compare its compact sedan against a supercar, on a track. The supercar they have chosen is nothing lesser than a 6.5-litre V12 690bhp Lamborghini Aventador. Hmmm. Instead of spoiling the video for you by describing what is going to happen in it, we reckon its best you watch the clip yourself... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=59&v=m7L9XRfGULo
  20. The next generation Kia Cerato K3 has been spotted in the public in with heavy disguise. Admittedly, the spy shots do not show much other than the headlights, grill, wheels and upper-half of its body. But it is likely to look similar to its five-door sister, the Cee'd. The upcoming Cee'd, shown below, has also been spotted in public recently without disguise. According to thekoreancarblog, the new car is likely to share the same engines with the Cee'd too. This means that the car could get a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder or a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre engine.
  21. Kia has released official sketches of Cerato 2013.Kia claims the new Cerato is completely redesigned and will be longer, lower, wider and more spacious than outgoing model. Expected to be relased in first quarter of 2013. What a handsome car!
  22. Anyone has more info on the new K3? Heard it will arrive in our shores by Mid Year. Will it be better than the current Elantra? What's your guess on the price? Same as the Elantra? Discuss n any info on the engine, chassis is most welcomed.
