    Honda Civic Type R

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lXGmjt1FtQThere’s plenty to shout about when were talking about the new Civic Type-R as far as numbers go – 310 PS and 400 Nm from a 2.0 litre VTEC Turbo engine, a 270 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds is rather impressive. Great on-paper numbers then, but what about real world performance? Honda has announced the Nürburgring lap time for the Civic Type R development car, and the magic number is 7 minutes 50.63 seconds, which puts the new CTR well ahead of the current front-wheel drive lap record holder, the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R (7 min 54.36). Alas, the CTR’s record run – accomplished during the final phase of pre-production testing – isn’t official, but the automaker says that development car’s technical specifications are representative of the final production car, with a standard state of engine tune and kit levels identical to the production car. The only changes were the removal of equipment (air conditioning, the front passenger seat and audio equipment) to offset the additional weight of a full roll cage, which Honda says was installed specifically for safety reasons and not to add rigidity. The development car used production-specification high-rigidity 19-inch alloy wheels, fitted with 235/35R19 road tyres developed especially for the car. So, no new lap record for now, and Honda says it is planning to send a production CTR out to the ‘Ring' later this year with the aim of setting a new lap record for a front-wheel drive production car.
  2. Was following behind you yesterday 6 Jan 16 along TPE towards ECP around 830am. the traffic was heavy and almost bumper to bumper... I noticed your car keep releasing a lot of smoke from the front wheel, under the bonnet... I'm not sure if you realised it or not... u exited at ECP towards City... I can't catch up to notify u..... sorry, forget the car number... need to check my DVR... but if that does match the description, please take note of your car.
  3. Since the Hybrid just cost slightly higher than the 1.6, would it be better to get the Hybrid instead ? Assuming the Hybrid can do 15l/km against 11l/km, 4/11 = ~ 30% savings. Can break-even in 1-3 yrs, and driving a Civic with the consumption of Jazz thereafter. Any particular reason to get the 1.6 instead ?
  4. 2013 Honda Civic is the first compact sedan to earn 'Top Safety Pick+' rating ?? US spec? To qualify for the 2013 TSP+ award, vehicles must earn good ratings for occupant protection in at least 4 of 5 evaluations and no less than acceptable in the fifth test. The evaluations include frontal and side impact tests, rear seat based impact test, roof strength test and the latest small overlap frontal impact test. According to Chuck Thomas, Honda's chief engineer in charge of collision safety, Honda took the opportunity to make some changes to the car's structure alongside with the facelift. Specifically, the 2013 Civic gets higher-strength materials to reinforce the cabin space together with some additional components in the structure and engine compartment. Although the styling of the latest Civic may appear too 'tame' to some, there is no doubt that it is one safe sedan for your family. Joining the Civic in receiving the coveted TSP+ rating include the 2013 Volvo XC60, Lincoln MKZ and the all new Mazda 6. Link: Civic 2013

  7. Is there anyone who can share with me the difference between the Civic 1.8 and Altis 1.6 - in terms of the drive and fuel consumption and etc... Intending to purchase a used car for short-term drive - around 2006 or 2007 cars...
  8. Seems like some keen-eyed people at FarmofMind caught the upcoming Honda Civic Type R at a shoot in Slovenia. While it is not clear whether this is the true final production model or a custom built Civic, we are already loving that huge wing which also incorporates the stunning taillamps. However, it is missing a thing or two as compared to the official disguised photos that Honda released sometime ago, like the flared fenders and a more aggressive front bumper. What it should not be missing is Honda's promise of more than 276bhp from the VTEC turbo 2.0-litre engine.
  9. Roads in vicinity of Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, Asian Civilisation Museum to close to vehicular traffic in phases Street level connectivity will be improved with the pedestrianisation of some roads, such as Empress Place, within the Civic District. The move is aimed at creating bigger civic open spaces and allowing pedestrians to stroll freely in a car-free environment. This was announced by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) this morning (Nov 22) as part of their Draft Master Plan 2013. First on the list to be pedestrianised is Empress Place, a road that sits between the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall. The aim of the move is to integrate the buildings in the vicinity into a seamless park-like setting. Other roads in the area such as St Andrew’s Road, Connaught Drive, Fullerton Road and Parliament Place, which sit between the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall and the Singapore Cricket Club, could soon follow suit. URA said they would be exploring the options of closing these roads to cars on a temporary basis for activities and events. They will also study the possibility of permitting only tour buses, public buses and pedestrians on these roads in the future. The agency also said that it would take a “phased approach” to the implementation of the car-free zones and the opinions of local stakeholders and the public will be taken into consideration before the roads are permanently pedestrianised in the long-term. Parks in the Civic District will also get a make-over to include more public seating, night lighting and better signage to help the public navigate the area. To allow people to get closer to the waterfront, the bollards along the promenade of Esplanade Park will be removed and replaced with stepped plazas and “an urban beach”. The enhancement of these parks are expected to be completed by 2015. Source: http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/car-free-zones-within-civic-district-mulled-ura

  11. This is the coupe concept version for the US market. But I think you can get some style clues on how the sedan version would look like: Sketches of the sedan version:
  12. wtd to trade in my Honda over to Nissan, any comments on the Slyphy is much appreciated.
  13. Today met a friend and he just collected his Civic 2.0 few days ago. He told me he got 2.0L instead of 1.8L as goodies far outweighted the cost of extra cc for the 3k extra. (1). Better eqpt level like factory leather and slotted headrest and side airbag and bigger disc brake and VSA etc etc (2). lower insurance of $8xx for 2.0L instead of $13xx for 1.8L by AIG for his NCD level as not many ppl do claiming on 2.0L compared to many claims on 1.8L. (3). he got an extra 5k discount as an ex civic owner. This is even more as normally AD reward loyal customers with a $500 discount only. He claimed the 5K discount was a once-off promotion only as KM wanted to offload bigger cc Civic, and he paid total 73k for his 2.0L Civic. He was really lucky to have got this good deal, don't you think so?
  14. Dear owner of SFW 186* S, I know your civic is very very powerful. On 21 Jul 2013 7.20pm on TPE entering SLE towards BKE, you cut in so sharply and jam brake, then you did something so childish my son onboard was laughing, you spray water..... What was that for? Cleaning your windscreen? Then you sped off after that.... [confused] From 4th lane entering SLE all the way to 1st lane, you are lucky the sunny behind you jam brake on the 1st lane. Anyway, if you think your civic is so powerful always wanted to jio people for a race, maybe you can try some trees along Upp Thomson or wall or railing. Because if you crash, wanbao will just have a small corner reporting some young kids speeding and crashed onto railing. Or else you will caused some innocent hardworking folks who always the one killed by you this type of idiot. Anyway, video of you cutting in and spraying water I just sent to TP. Good luck. Oh, remember to chose a bigger tree to test your civic.
  15. Honda has released press pictures of the 9th generation or 2012MY USDM Civic, a car which is set to go on sale Stateside in Spring 2011. Supposedly designed from the ground up, the 9th gen Civic does not share parts with the outgoing model. Strange, as the car looks similar but is somehow not as forward (or futuristic) looking as the 8th gen model, which has got to be one of the nicest 4 door sedans in the South East Asian market today. I am a little disappointed. The car (even the US only 2 door coupe shown down below) looks less sporty, less aerodynamic and more conservative than the 8th gen Civic. If I were to make a comparison, it would be like comparing the looks of the EK or 6th gen Civic to the dull looking 7th gen Civic. The 9th Gen Civic Si (pic above - which could be the base for the Civic 2.0Si sold around the region) looks a little un-sporty. Take a look at the front bumper and then take a look at the ride height. I sometimes wonder how can a Civic Si look like its running off-road suspension settings. Someone from the HONDA America PR department isn't paying attention to details. Luckily the interior looks similar. It is still driver-centric and pretty much as futuristic as ever. Everytime I drive the current, 8th gen Civic (the photo right above this paragraph) I feel like I am stepping into a car car from 2020 instead of circa 2008-2010. I mean compare that dashboard with a Toyota Corolla or even a Mitsubishi Lancer and you'll know what I mean. Maybe Honda is feeling the same as it did when they did the change from the 6th Gen to the 7th Gen. They want to capture the conservative crowd again. But in all honesty, that generation of Civics was a flop. They were dull shopping trolleys and meant to target Corolla owners. Of course, this time they did not go ultra dull as before. And with that comment I can safely say that the new Civic, when it is launched here (which should be the same but with slightly different lights front and rear), will be high on the list of people who can afford it. Hey, its a Honda and somehow, in these parts of the world its prices are premium. Civic HF, Si in Sedan, Coupe and Natural Gas Specifications 140 horsepower, 1.8-liter i-VTEC
  16. What is the diff btw the PI honda civic and Kah motor's Honda Civic. Why the big price diff? 1.8 B (A) $58,000 1.6 VTi (M) $69,300
  17. Japan automaker Honda is keen to extend its street racing heritage by showcasing the latest Civic Type R. Albeit in concept form, the car looks all ready for production - and we won't be surprised if it does. Rumour has it that the new Civic Type R will get a 2.0-litre force-fed engine churning out figures north of 280 horses. And if this is true, it will be the first turbocharged Honda Type R. Other than the spolier tail lights, we expect much of the features on this concept to head on to production. More details will only come in when the car is unveiled in full glory at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Meanwhile, we have these trio of pictures to drool on.

  19. Couple causes crash driving against traffic to exit carpark -- then blames the other driver A couple in this white Honda Civic dashed for the exit of IMM's carpark against the flow of traffic, causing a collision with another car on the way out. According to Stomper Candice the couple then filed for $4,100 in damages after the incident. She recounts the incident: "My god-sister's car got hit at IMM carpark level 2 on Dec 28 by a car dashing out illegally against the flow of traffic. "It did not come to a immediate stop. No words of apologies, Instead the female passenger confronted us and asked why we had not slowed down for them to pass through. "When asked to produce their driving licence else we would make a police report, the female passenger pointed her finger very fiercely right up to my sister's face, and asked on what grounds we would want to call the police. "At the moment, we really felt threatened and feared for our safety. "Not only that, the couple even came up with a story to claim damages against my god-sister's motor insurance, $4,100 for a minor dent on their white Honda Civic." 20. Hihi, my 2006 Honda Civic 1.8 VTi-S is having a gearbox issue. The problem is as described below.. When travelling in 5th gear above 70kmh, if i do not step on the accelerator and let the speed slowly go below 65kmh, it automatically downshifts and i can feel like it's hunting for the 4th gear before it jerks and get in gear. This does not happen everytime. However, when i use paddle shifters to downshift or brake from above 70kmh, it does not seem to jerk. Anyone knows what is going on?Transmission oil is new. Thanks!
  21. In the April 2013 issue of Consumer Reports, the magazine states that while other hybrid vehicles have an excellent reliability report, the Civic Hybrid has been plagued with a serious battery issue. Since the Civic Hybrid's introduction in 2001, it has sold over 255,000 units globally and is the second best-selling hybrid model in the US. "The Civic Hybrid, which has been a reliable car overall in most years, has a big problem with its drive battery. The 2009 model was the worst - Almost one in five owners needed a replacement hybrid battery in our 12-month survey period. But more than 10 percent of owners of the 2003, 2004, and 2010 models also needed one," said Consumer Reports. On the issue, Honda claims that a software update was issued to older models to prevent premature battery failures. Honda has switched to a new lithium-ion battery pack in the 2012-2013 Civic Hybrid. Hopefully, there will be less electrical issues.
  22. The 2013 Honda Civic has become the first compact car to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating. 23. Honda has released a set of photos showing the new Civic Wagon Concept. The concept will make its debut very soon at the Geneva Motor Show. The concept looks quite production ready if we take away the fancy LED surrounding the headlights and fog light casing. The twin-trapezoidal exhaust pipe setup is unlikely to make it to the production version as well. The Civic Wagon is probably one of the smartest looking of its kind among rival products such as the Golf Variant and Focus Wagon. The sleek front end combined with the beautiful front and rear wheel arches creates an aggressive stance. The steeply-raked windscreen further accentuates that sporty looks. The concept version wears large alloy wheels that fill up the wheel arches nicely. At the Geneva Motor Show, the Civic Wagon Concept will be equipped with Honda's latest 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel that is good for 118bhp and 330Nm of torque. The Civic Wagon will enter production next year and will be offered in Europe.
