  1. At the recent Honda Meeting 2017 event in Japan, a test mule in the shape of the current Civic has been shown to journalists with a new eight-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. Looking similar to the current generation Civic on sale, the test mule has its new DCT gearbox mated to the existing 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine. According to Paultan.org, a similar gearbox and engine pairing can be found in the Acura CDX which is only on sale in China. Switching to the new gearbox is said to give a 15 percent improvement in power delivery and 8 percent better fuel efficiency. Elsewhere, this prototype Civic's chassis has also been enhanced. Improvements include a more rigid rear subframe and floor that improves bending stiffness by as much as 57 percent, while torsional rigidity is up by 25 percent. Suspension, power steering and brake response settings have also been revised to make use of the additional stiffness. A 14 percent reduction in drag coefficient round up the changes. Interestingly, the Civic will only go on sale in Japan by end July and it is unknown when the improvements to the civic will make it into production.
  2. Microsoft and Turn 10 have finally added Honda's Civic Type R to its racing game, the Forza Motorsport 7 as part of its latest update. Happily, the car can be had for free. There is no need to download any content pack or subscription plans. According to the tech company, the car was given free as part of their celebration of all things Honda. A Honda Odyssey was also realised as part of the K1 Speed Car Pack a couple of weeks ago. Check out the game for Honda-specific events for the month of May. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=25&v=x9tNfW8iMxc
  3. Hi all, Posting on behalf of my Honda's club. His car was stolen at Boon Teck Road. Both of his keys are with him. Please help us to locate his car if you happen to see. If you happen to see, please call him @ 9636 6000 He has no backlog with bank. Clean record. Thank you in advance. Newly added: this photo was taken not on the same day, cause he don't take picture every time he parked. Keith
  4. When Honda started its auction two days ago for the very first 2017 Civic Type R for charity in the US, people were speculating that it will go for abit more than the car's presumed US$35k base price. However, nobody expected the price to jump as high as it had within the first two days of the auction. As of this writing, this first Civic Type R has a bid for a stunning US$200,000(S$277,000). Aside from that being an odd auction strategy, to put in an enormous bid with nearly a week left on the clock, that's a lot of money for a Civic, even one as rare and special as this one. In the U.S., that US$200,000 could also buy a Porsche 911 Turbo S, a Lamborghini Huracán, an Audi R8, a Bentley Continental GT, or even a McLaren 570. Or, if you really had your heart set on Honda, you could buy a new NSX and a new Civic Type R. And you could get both in the color you want. But, none of those would be the very first of their kind in the United States. Plus, if the $200,000 bid goes through or expands, the money will go to a good cause - the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
  5. Hi there, My honda civic wiper has been there for 2 yrs + since first collected. Is there any recommeded wipers for me to change? price? easy to change? How do I know if wipers need to be changed? Mine creates noise when moving across the windscreen.
  6. The 2018 Honda Civic Type R hatch will be offered solely with a six-speed manual transmission because an auto would have mucked up the weight balance of the car. That’s according to Yuji Matsumochi, assistant large project leader for the 10th-generation Civic powertrain at Honda Japan. Matsumochi admitted that the brand looked into a solution to appeal to a broader range of buyers – either with a conventional automatic, or a dual-clutch transmission – but the impact would have been too great on the car’s dynamism. “We produce just the six-speed manual transmission only for the Type R, because our powertrain has achieved 400Nm and 320 or 310PS – so, big performance,” Matsumochi said. “The Type R needs a lightweight powertrain because it is front-wheel-drive, and needs lightweight powertrain systems. So, the engine is a little bit heavy, so the transmission side needs to be more lightweight,” he said. “If we applied an automatic transmission, or dual-clutch transmission, for a 400Nm engine, it would be very heavy weight, and very big. The front weight would be very heavy.” As it stands, the new generation Civic isn’t perfectly balanced: it is front-wheel drive, after all, and has a distribution of 62.5 per cent of the body weight at the front axle and 37.5 per cent at the rear – which is still an improvement over the existing car, which had 65:35 weight distribution. The numbers would have been skewed further if an automatic were to be offered, and that’s the reason Honda went solely with a six-speed manual. However, Matsumochi said he knows that while manual gearboxes can be fun, they can also be daunting to drive on a racetrack. But the company’s new rev-matching system on the Type R is designed to offset those concerns. “Then we decided just on the six-speed manual – and the gearbox is very fun to drive. Easy to drive, however sometimes it’s difficult to control shift timing for sporty performance, so then we applied the rev-match system,” he said of the mechanism that senses when you’re slowing down and preparing to downshift, blipping the throttle to maintain engine speed. “It’s so easy and so smooth – so everyone has a special experience to drive the car.”
  7. Fluids Fuel pump assembly removed completely Original fuel filter P/N. Comparison between new brake fluid and one that is 3 years old Breakdown of costs: Self Supplied Engine Oil CLTR 5W40 - $29.90 Oil Filter - $6.00 Brake Fluid (1L) - $7.35 Fuel Strainer - $39.90 Red Line MTL (2 quarts) - $46.00 From Riverview Labour - $100.00 Surcharge for Self Supplied items - $30.00 Total: $259.15 Time taken was approx. 3 hours. [/color] Comments: Could save more if I didn't change the manual transmission fluid. Changed it because KM used a wrong spec for it when they changed mine at 20k (wth they do that, I do not know.) Did not change coolant as well, which costs $20 for 4L at Riverview. During the servicing the mechanic, Ah Chin, went through with me the parts that he replaced and in some instances explaining in detail, especially the part on the fuel strainer. Upon re-assembly of the fuel pump back into the rear, a pressure gauge was used to test for the presence of any leakage (if there was, the fuel pump assembly was not tightened properly and cranking would take a longer time, or even be not possible.) Brake pads were also not required to be changed (still using day one originals) OEM Nissin ones cost $50.40, which I brought along just in case. After completion of servicing, the boss, Vincent took the car together with me for a drive to check for any anomalies. Finally, after everything was done, a car wash, including the engine bay, which left the insides spick and span.
  8. Just as reviews of the new Civic Type R are streaming in, there is more good news for fans of the car. In an interview with Automotive News, the Civic's chief engineer, Hideki Matsumoto, has hinted that more versions of the high-powered hot hatch are on their way. While it is unclear what these variants are, some online source claims that certain markets will be getting cheaper grades of the model with less standard equipment, making the car more attainable to enthusiasts. Other sources claim that an even faster and more hardcore variant is possible. Sadly, chances of the Civic Type R appearing in sedan form are very slim. The car is rumored to hit our shores with a price tag starting from $180k.
  9. Hi Can someone advise what is the K&N drop-in model for 2017 1.6 Honda Civic (petrol)? Can seems to find the filter form K&N official website which only has the 1.6l diesel. Thank you
  10. Honda has announced its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine will now be available as a crate motor. Codenamed K20C1, the direct injection engine can be found in the latest Civic Type R and has been praised by media around the world for being a strong engine. It produces 306bhp and 399Nm of torque and will cost $6,500 (S$8,900) excluding shipping fees for the buyers in the States. It is available via the Honda Racing Line program and according to Honda, the engine is ideal for grassroots and professional racers seeking a powerful engine for closed-course racing applications.

  13. If you happen to be one of the six or so owners of the first batch of new Civic Type R that will roam our roads soon, here are some new goodies for your car. Released under Honda's Modulo brand, these accessories will go on sale in Japan on 29th of September. Other than the cool-looking 10-spoke 18-inch wheels that come in Honda's signature "Championship White" paint, it is safe to assume that all of the other accessories released are purely cosmetic upgrades. For those of you that are into coloured carbon fiber, check out the red carbon fibre option on the rear wing and gearlever shifter surround.
  14. Despite Honda’s reputation for building great engines, the Japanese automaker has been slow to adopt direct injection (DI) & Turbo Charged (TC). The technology is now commonplace in all segments of the market, and allows for higher compression ratios and therefore improved efficiency & preformance. Good sign for Honda fans, Finally Honda introducted direct injection (DI) & Turbo Charged (TC) to their inline 4 cyclinder engine, eqipped on 2015 Civic Type R http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/honda/civic/85978/honda-civic-type-r-2015-price-release-date-and-specs unfortuntely it's FWD, when can honda adopt AWD in their sport car?
  15. The Honda Civic Si was recently unveiled and will go on sale in America next month. It will sit between the 1.5 VTEC turbo variant and the upcoming Type R. Using the same 1.5-litre VTEC turbo four found in the standard Civic, the Si gets a more powerful variant of the same engine that outputs 205bhp and 260Nm. Peak torque can be had from 2,100rpm to 5,000rpm. Power from the engine goes to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Besides the increase in power, weight has been reduced and the agility of the car improved. Features that help make the car more dynamic include dual-pinion adaptive variable-ratio electric power steering, a helical limited-slip differential, larger front brake discs and wider 235/40 R18 tyres. Harder springs, a set of more rigid anti-roll bars plus new bushings and front upper control arms that are shared with the Type R help make the Si a better handler too. The average enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the car has switchable dampers, steering weighting and throttle response via the new Normal and Sport drive modes. Inside, new sports seats plus aluminium gearknob and pedals help make the car feel more special. Considering the car is only available in Left Hand Drive, it is unlikely we will get this model in Singapore anytime soon.
  16. We are sure some of you might not like how the new Type R has an odd number of tailpipes instead of the usual dual or quad number of tailpipes. Seems like there's a reason for it... According to Civic Senior Product Planner, Rob Keough, the reason was to reduce drone when going on the highway. He was quoted during an interview with Road&Track that "traditionally with these big flow exhaust systems, when you get up into highway speeds, you can get a lot of droning, booming, buzzing - not very comfortable for high speed cruising." If you look closely at the car, you would notice that the two outer ones are larger than the inside one and come with straight flow mufflers, whereas the center pipe is a resonator tasked with performing a specific aural trick. Keough explained that at low speeds, the resonator assist in generating a louder and more aggressive growl both inside and outside the car. Once you hit higher speeds, the exhaust flowing through the center pipe hits a resonant frequency and since the resonator gets filled with air, the resulting back pressure diverts the exhaust to flow exclusively through the larger outboard mufflers, thus reducing cabin noise at highway speeds. That said, he added on that "it's not like you have zero exhaust sound, but you're not generating this extra sporty sound that comes from the resonator."
  17. As the fastest front-wheel drive production car to lap the Nurburgring, is there a chance Honda might under declare its actual power figure for its Civic Type R? Officially, the hot hatch has a power output of 316bhp and 400Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre turbo four. While it isn't as powerful as the Ford Focus RS's 345bhp, the grunt available is good enough to help Honda reclaim the FWD 'Ring record. So does the car really have 316bhp only in the real world? A garage from Spain has managed to get its hand on one unit and strapped it onto its dyno to record an impressive 295 wheel horsepower. Assuming a 15 percent power loss from the engine to the wheels, the car is actually producing 347bhp at the engine which is around 30 more horses than declared and is nothing to be laughed at. https://www.facebook.com/dynocenterpr/videos/10158777143605363/
  18. With the Geneva Motor Show opening very soon, photos of the new Honda Civic Type R have made their appearance on the web. Judging from the two photos that have leaked out, the production version of the car looks almost identical to the concept shown last year. No interior photos were available at press time. Honda has announced that the new Type R will feature a newer version of its 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged engine that produces 305bhp in the current model. Unfortunately, no other details on the engine were given. Honda has said that the outgoing Type R was an afterthought for the Civic series while the new model was designed in from the start of the program. This allowed them to claim that this new generation model will massively benefit its driving dynamics.
  19. It's here!!! Anyone planning to get or have already gotten?
  20. Honda is to recall 63099 unit of Civic, Civic Hybrid and Stream. Date: 6 September 2007. Total of 3 models, recall from entire production range from production date 17 August 2005 to 10 January 2007 or 63,099 units Complete information is at: http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=7066 Contact your Dealer and PI(s) for the exchange of the recall parts.
  21. Honda has just announced that its new Civic Type R is the fastest front-wheel drive car around the Nordschleife, beating the previous record by more than three seconds. Held previously by the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S, the new Japanese hot hatch lapped the 'Ring in a scant 7 minute 43.8 seconds. It also improved on its predecessor's lap time by nearly seven seconds despite only having 10 more horses. Honda says the new chassis and wider track allowed the new car to corner much faster. Recorded on 3rd of April, the car that broke the record is a "development car that achieved the lap time and was technically representative of production specification,” says Honda. “A full floating roll cage was installed for safety reasons, but its presence did not provide any additional rigidity to the body frame. “The extra weight of the cage was compensated for by the temporary removal of the infotainment system and rear seats. The car was using road legal track-focused tyres.” Hmmm, so is it fair for Honda to claim the record? Let us know what you think! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LAB4cZ2V3Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM2NlK3HIRY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1YiQwqYV4s
  22. The Civic Type R production at Honda's factory is coming to an end and to commemorate it, the last cars coming out of the factory will be special. Said to be a "true collector's item", these Black Edition models will be the last 100 cars that will come off its production line at its U.K. factory. It gets a few design cues to make them stand out from the crowd like the red-painted rear wing end plates on its rear spoiler and several red trimmings in the interior. Other than that, the car keeps its same 2.0 turbocharged four that outputs 306bhp and 400Nm which is paired to the six-speed manual transmission. Honda also mentioned that its Swindon plant is preparing to start production of its next generation Civic Type R that is estimated to be revealed later this year.
  23. Rumors have been circulating on the web that the upcoming Honda Civic Type R might be paired with a continuously variable transmission like its slower sibings, the Civic 1.5 Turbo. Thankfully, the rumors appear to be false as Car and Driver reported that two spokesmen for Honda negated the reports, re-affirming that the new Type R will only be available with a manual transmission. While an automatic-equipped Type R might broaden its target audience, it might leave purists cold with its rubber-band response and the joy of self-shifting. Till today, all Type R-badged cars have been offered in manual transmission only.
