I own a Honda Freed Hybrid 2019 model and this happen to me twice. When going to Malaysia at Woodlands causeway, sometimes it's a long wait. But there are times where it's 1 hour+ at the causeway. The strange thing is that my hybrid battery will go dead, and then the car doesn't seem to move. When I press on the accelerator, the car jerks and has no power moving forward. There is multiple reminder to me that the battery will be dead soon and performance will degrade. Only when the car clears the customs, I drive for about 1km+ then the car goes back to normal. The last time it happens, I have to stop the car, turn off and on, and I see the car charging. So the question is: 1) Why isn't my Freed charging when stationary? Is there a configuration that I need to do in order to enable that? The car instructions are all in Japanese. 2) Will this situation damage the battery life?

How to compare 2L vs 1.5L? That's why a lot of good review on Civic/CRV Hybrid. It is 2L hybrid. In addition, Freed hybrid is ole tech now.

I have the best advice for you! If you think renew COE is cheapest then renew COE of your Freed. If you think buy new car is best then scrap the Freed and buy new car. If you think COE will drop more next year then don't rush now and only take action next year. If you think COE is the lowest now then please fast hand and fast leg and take action now and don't wait and wait and hesitate as time and COE waits for no man. I guarantee you 100% my advice is the best advice you can get in MCF. All the people here with their 2 cents are very intelligent and wise but they are only amateurs. I am a professional car dealer with many many years in the car industry and you ask anybody here the advise I give here is the best advise and 100% correct true or not! 100% true and cannot cannot go wrong one true or not! -

If parf is low then you lose less. When you renew coe this parf goes when the car exceeds 10years. what I’ll do is wait till close to june2025. See what coe is then. Assuming it’s still 65k, you can take gamble and see if coe will drop in further 2028. When that time comes sell or scrap the Freed and buy a new car. Your depreciation would then be 19.5k + 8.9k = 9.5k/yr. If the new car depreciation is 6.8k or even a bit more, Buy a new car. You will then get the same 7.4K/yr which is what your coe Freed is on, else drive on till 2035. maybe I can accept a 1-2k premium per year on depreciation as it is a new car then maybe up to 8.9k depreciation for the new car can be acceptable. I know the math and calculation can be a little overwhelming but you do need to calculate if you want to save. Your mileage isn’t that high. This is the most cost effective, unless you yearn for a new car then it’s not longer about being cost effective. -

Yeah like what others said, Honda Freed <100k mileage is a keeper. Now js pray COE low low in 2025. Along the way if COE miraculously drop below 40k, can change new car. Option is there if it happen haha. -

am driving a honda freed and i still need a minivan type for the replacement. so it seems your advice is to get a new car at possibly the end of the year when coe might be lower? is there a strategy on how to time the purchase? why if parf value <$15k then renew COE is best option? Tks for all the suggestions, it's been helpful. Not sure what info is required, but i see on onemotoring, my minimum parf benefit is $8.9k. -

The Freed is a car known for space and economy, so if it is driven like what the driver expects in SG, he will find overtaking hard, even if he is alone. With a few more pax, it will be a deadly effort... RIP And the SG AD Freed only has two airbags... and even with a full suite, it won't fair much better...

JOHOR BAHRU - Three Singaporean women were killed in a traffic accident in Johor, Malaysia, on Monday afternoon. The accident took place at around 2pm in Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang, near Ladang Cenas, reported Bernama. The women were in a Honda Freed MPV when it collided into a roll-on/roll-off lorry, the Johor Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre said. “The male driver of the Honda Freed, also a Singaporean, and the lorry driver survived,” it said in a statement. A fire engine with five firefighters were deployed immediately to the site, with the operation ending at 2.35pm. The victims’ bodies have been handed over to the Health Ministry. A spokesman for Singapore’s consulate-general in Johor Bahru told The New Straits Times that the victims’ families have been informed. The Straits Times has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment.

I am probably alone in this view, but I never understand the point of premium MPVs. It's an MPV, and it has an utility purpose that's all. Just how big is the difference in comfort and driving experience between the Lexus vs a Alphard or even Voxy? Or throw in the others, like Freed etc, Mazda Biante, etc? I have sat in the above mentioned before, except that Lexus MPV, and to me it just does the job perfectly getting from point A to B. There is no "enjoyment" to speak of, other than maybe comfortable seats and good air con. For the driving experience, I rather drive my own sedan car. Hence I fail to appreciate any market segmentation in the the MPV class. And especially those zheng their MPVs by putting sports rims or carbon bonnets....that's even harder for me to comprehend.

The United Nations has repeatedly pleaded for a humanitarian ceasefire, as food, water, fuel and medical supplies in the besieged enclave run out. The families of hostages are also concerned the bombing and siege of Gaza will affect their loved ones.

I thought the previous gen hybrid Vezels also had this problem, then someone said should put the car in Sport mode so the engine is on all the time. Not sure if it'll work for the Freed or for any other hybrid for that matter if you're stuck in a 4 hour jam..

Actually iirc there was some issue with this Freed Hybrid when caught in jam when it was newly available here right? I remeber vaguely was aircon not working problem due to battery cannot be charged up when caught in jam. Not sure if related to this latest incidence or not.
