  1. Hi guys, I am in the market looking for a car and this is my 2 cents worth ... Mazda 3 : this car sucks... no power, but no doubts about the look. quite disppointed... Low OMV of about 16k even for the most expensive HB version. i am actually driving a 323 HB now and was actually my first choice until I have tested it... Astra : ( S$85,888 ... another S$2k disc. offered for motorshow ) Not used to the easy-tronic transmission at first but it feels good when driven in manual mode.... The car works quite well in both auto and manual, the days when you want some kick... you can actually drive it in the tip-tronic manual mode and feel the car moves... heard from the SE that the gearbox can be repaired if it kaputs ( not too sure if it is true ) and will only costs S$1k+ for replacemnet in the event if it is really beyond repair high OMV of S$19,500 ... interior finishing is quite okay... ... not as good as the Golf though.... heard that the 3-dr version is coming next year.... should be 1.8l though... however, they have a 1.8l auto ( 5-dr ) which they are still thinking if they will launch it in SIN. Golf : High OMV of S$ 25k Definitely one of the best in terms of feature.... cruise control, 8 airbags ... finishing is definitely fanstastic. but at S$104k for a 1.6l.. .. you will definitely have to really think abt it. will buy if budget permits... but frankly too expensive for a 1.6l... Focus HB.... Nice road handling... thanks to Eddie... for allowing me to test drive. Only minus point is that it does not have the tip-tronic gear on the Focus...... the ride is comfortable and handling is very good. However, will want to see how is the new Ford Focus first... but definitely one of the better 1.6l cars around.... Only concern is the high costs of maintenance... I used to own a Ford Escort and really pay through your arse for wear and tear and this is really a major concern if you want to drive for long.... Anybody there who used to or driving a Astra now? any comments on maintenace ?
  2. Please take note that the name of the golf range is now known as: Nature Golf Driving Range Since we have most of our meetups at Bishan Golf Driving Range, I have decided to post the map here. Please direct all new members to this thread for reference. Our Weekly meetup is held at the Nature Park Seafood Village [/color] NOTE: I will lock this thread, cos the map is for reference purpose only. http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...&star=1&level=5 Map sourced by: Bobcatsysop [inline Bishan_Friday_meetup.jpg] http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=13580;

  6. recently discovered...Malaysia launched Golf GTi. Priced at RM225,000 (or S$102,000), it comes with 18"rims, sunroof, DSG and many extras. Heard that the import duty of cars is 250% in Malaysia (much higher tariff than Singapore's). So guys, you can imagine how much profit is C&C trying to make.

  12. Here is my cut n paste info:- VW Opens Up Its New Golf MPV It's been a closely guarded secret, but at last Volkswagen has pulled the wraps off its new Golf MPV. After the briefest of teaser pictures last year, the German firm has released official shots revealing the clever interior of its seven-seat Touran. The bodywork might look utterly conventional, but the cabin is a remarkable piece of design. In a bid to leapfrog/dethrone the Vauxhall Zafira in the flexibility stakes - and the sales charts - the Touran will have an even more functional seating layout. As with the Zafira, a third row of seats can be folded into the floor of the rear loadbay, while a 50:50 split arrangement means you can erect only one seat if you have a lot to carry. The middle bench is also more versatile than in the Vauxhall, as the three chairs can be removed or folded individually. If only two passengers are travelling in the second row, the middle seat can be taken out and the two outer chairs moved away from the doors to create greater shoulder room (damn clever man!! ). That means there are over 17 different interior arrangements, while with all the seats removed, the car offers a huge load capacity of 1,989 litres. There are lots of other practical interior features, too. Sliding drawers are fitted beneath both front seats, while the back doors feature huge cubbyholes. The neat, uncluttered dashboard is typical of recent VWs and, while not particularly exciting, is logically laid out. As well as the innovative interior, the Touran features some interesting technological developments. It will be the first VW to use a new direct-injection 2.0-litre 136bhp TDI diesel engine, which complies with European emissions legislation due to come into force in 2006 (but too bad sgp not likely to get this ). This motor will appear in various VW Group models at a later stage. Other engine choices include 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol powerplants, while diesel options will consist of the new 2.0 unit or the company's 1.9 100bhp TDI. It will also be the first car on sale in the UK to feature a transversely mounted six-speed manual gearbox, which will come as standard. Both the new engine and transmission could find their way on to the next Golf, which shares its platform with the Touran and promises to be a much sharper car to drive than its predecessor. The MPV goes on sale in Britain in the summer and will debut at March's Geneva Motor Show. Prices will start from about

  16. BEHOLD the most powerful production Golf ever: the 241-horsepower R32. The car's engine, a 3.2-litre V6, was first seen in the Beetle RSi. This engine will also be in the entry model of Volkswagen's luxury Phaeton model. It delivers 320 newton-metres of torque from 2,800rpm. The Golf R32 flies to 100kmh in 6.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 245kmh. Power is transmitted via a six-speed gearbox to all four wheels. The Golf sits very low and is shod with 18-inch wheels with 225/40 ZR tyres. Ventilated disc brake, with striking blue callipers are found on all wheels. The car will be hit retail outlets later this year. http://business-times.asia1.com.sg/motor/s...6,46232,00.html?
