  1. Lexus could be working on a new flagship crossover to take on the likes of the Lamborghini Urus, according to a new report from Japan. Spyder7 reckons the luxury brand is looking into a high-performance crossover, which could be revealed in production form as early as 2020 before going on sale the following year. The publication earmarks the LF-1 Limitless concept (pictured) revealed at this year's Detroit motor show as a preview for the rumoured SUV. Under the fancy skin, the production model would allegedly ride on a version of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, variations of which will underpin every model in the Lexus and Toyota range in the coming years. According to the report, entry-level versions will be powered by the twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 or 3.5-litre V6 hybrid currently offered in the LS limousine. The twin-turbo engine is rumoured to make around 430PS (316kW), which is a little up on the LS500's 310kW power output. The go-fast version, potentially branded as an 'F' model, is said to be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 rumoured to feature in the unconfirmed LC F and LS F halo models. This engine is claimed to make around 670PS (493kW), putting the F-branded SUV right up there with the Urus (478kW) in the power stakes. Other potential rivals include the upcoming Audi RS Q8 – which will pretty much be a re-skinned Urus – the next-gen BMW X5 M, along with the next-gen Mercedes-AMG GLE. None of the Japanese website's claims have been substantiated yet, though it was widely reported the LF-1 previewed an upcoming SUV flagship, while a recent trademark filing in the US hinted at a new Lexus 'LQ'. What? But Lexus only uses 'X' for its SUVs, right? It's believed the 'Q' could be used to signify a crossover 'coupe'. In the meantime, we'll have to wait and see.
  2. was just browsing the spec of the new GS 250 (250 only?... where's the 300 and 350?... bloody hell)... and scroll to the bottom "Additional Comments" section... saw "Engine Sound Generator"... WTF iz that?... my gosh.....~~!
  3. Hi all, I seldom post a lot and am currently looking to change my ride. I'd like to seek opinions from bros and automotive aficionados here on the above mentioned 3 models of SUV. I know all 3 are rather different in terms of branding or engine power or even comfort levels, but due to my limited knowledge on the available SUVs in this price range 300k+/-, these are the 3 that I can think of. I'm torn between these 3 for my next purchase and would like to find out more the pros and cons of the above 3. Am currently driving an Audi so thinking of changing to something fresh too. Would like to seek some opinions and reviews from bros here especially those who own the above 3 makes to share a little more into it. And also to find out which would be a better buy. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to your reviews and advise, cheers!
  4. An anonymous source has e-mailed what appears to be a digital press kit produced by Lexus for next week's Geneva Motor Show. The pages of the kit reveal photos and details of the Lexus CT 200h five-door hybrid, set for a debut at the Geneva event. The full hybrid is based on the LF-Ch concept shown at the Frankfurt show in 2009. It features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine and a magnet synchronous electric motor. The company has not published performance details, but they do say that the motor is "powerful." Nickel-metal hydride is used for the high voltage battery. Power is sent to the front wheels via a electrically-controlled contiuously variable transmission, or E-CVT for short. The car remains a sleek five-door, just like the concept. It has sporty overhangs at the front and back, and a well-placed rear spoiler. The car looks to have LED rear lighting. At 4,320mm long, the car is 140mm shorter than the Toyota Prius. The Lexus is 1,765mm wide by 1,430mm high; 20mm x 50mm less than the Prius. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, and features McPherson/front- and double wishbone rear suspension. Lexus wants to use this car to prove that full hybrids do not have to be boring drives. They claim the car has "superior handling agility" to suit their customers' wishes, and three driving modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport) to adjust to different situations. Again, Lexus remained vague about sprint times, overtake ability, and top speed. Hopefully, these details and more will be released at the Geneva Motor Show. The leaked information also reveals data about Lexus LFA sales orders which states allocation will be fixed in April, while individual orders will be confirmed to customers in May. Demand has surpassed the announced 500 units set to be produced.
  5. Hi guys was driving along Robinson Road and saw a blood red Lexus RC F today. I dont think its been launched here yet so i wonder how the buyer got it onto our roads so fast. Perhaps he did the paperwork for a foreign import himself? The new coupe looks very aggressive;- http://www.luxury-insider.com/luxury-news/2014/12/lexus-rc-f-and-the-rc-350-to-launch-in-singapore-in-2015 http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/test-drives/393-lexus-rc-f-2014-review-holy-f
  6. Hey guys most would know i recentley bought a lexus gs450h (2010 model) After changing the hybrid battery, most were good, till we heard some stuttering on the front door speakers at higher bass parts of the sound track. From what ive read online, ive read that this is a very very common problem for all lexus cars from that time period and it is possible to just repair the foam itself on the speakers without needing to replace the pair of speakers. Any opinions and experiences will help, as i rather repair than change to a lousier speaker in my car.. Thanks as always
  7. Lexus has done it again, applying traditional Takumi craftsmanship to bring another impressive Marvel Lexus concept car collaboration to the big screen with the movie Black Panther. In the movie, Black Panther is seen riding on the top of the Lexus LC 500 in the middle of a car chase with a Toyota SUV. The consumer version of the 2018 Lexus LC 500 coupe is equipped with a 471-horsepower V8 engine that will go from 0 to 60 in an admirable 4.8 seconds. Bullet proof chassis and mythical vibranium coating not included. Oh yes and for comic book purists out there, there is also a digital comic book series that you could find online titled 'Lexus Black Panther: Soul of a Machine" that is worth a read.
  8. The next Lexus CT is likely to be offered as a pure EV, as well as hybrid, when it arrives in 2020. Lexus is planning a radical successor to its CT hatch – and the newcomer could be offered as a pure-electric Tesla Model 3 rival, as well as a petrol hybrid. The existing CT Hybrid is still being sold in several countries, where its hybrid-only powertrains have given it an extended lease of life. But the forthcoming arrival of the new UX small crossover had been expected to sideline the five-door hatch. Lexus’s European boss Pascal Ruch has said that a CT successor is on the way, and the brand is looking to offer “something different” to counter the Mercedes A-Class and BMW 1 Series.. Lexus may decide to shake up the CT’s design, too. The car will have to rival both the A-Class and GLA – and we understand a number of proposals are under consideration, including a hatch and a crossover that mixes SUV cues with a less upright stance. The CT is likely to arrive in 2020 as a sister model to the Auris, sharing that car’s TNGA platform. And while no pure EVs have been introduced on that architecture, it’s understood to be compatible with the brand’s goal of offering “more than 10 battery-electric models” by the early 2020s.
  9. Hi, Would like to check who has recently booked the ES250 and what is the price it is negotiable up to. Thanks!

  12. Sorry unable to attach photo. Definitely better looking than outgoing model, as fancy as its "smaller" NX. http://www.lexus-int.com/models/RX/ Heard will be available at the end of the year. Any idea how much - price from Borneo Motors? Any parallel import (cheaper/higher specs) version?
  13. The Lexus ES has been introduced in Europe and also on our sunny island recently. However, only the Japanese get to have theirs with digital mirrors. Said to be equipped the world’s first Digital SideView cameras in a production car, the seventh-generation ES's normal wing mirrors has been replaced by wing mirrors with digital cameras that display images on five-inch monitors mounted on the A-pillars. The idea is barely new as concept cars have been dressed up with this feature before. Despite the frequent public showing, the technology has only been approved by the Japanese government recently.
  14. The Lexus RC F has been with us for more than three years and it seems like Lexus is ready to give the car a refresh. In an article spotted on Carscoops, photos of a facelifted RC F has been spotted on the roads in Europe undergoing tests. Previewed by the RC F GT concept, the car seen here in the photos looks like a more track-focused variant of the normal RC F, as we can assume via the aggressive rear wing and the carbon fibre hood. Other than the go-faster body parts, the car seems like it has also been equipped with a revised front and rear bumper, new headlights and side mirrors. Not much else is known about the car but we can expect the new RC F to stick to its current 5.0-litre V8 naturally-aspirated engine.
  15. Toyota North America's latest document on car sales revealed that there were two LFAs that were sold in all of 2018. This comes as a pleasant surprise as production of the Japanese supercar ended in December 2012. Seems like the company had problems selling all 500 built... According to Carscoops, 2017 also saw three brand new units being sold and a possible seven still up for grabs in the States. Back then, the LFA was known for its rev-happy 552bhp 4.8-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that needed a digital rev counter as the normal analogue one couldn't keep up with how fast it revved. It is believed that we have around five or so units of the LFA running around/kept in Singapore with one or two rumored to have been exported away.

  17. Hi, Anyone knows where in Singapore has the widest range of paint markers? I need to buy a paint marker or small bottle of paint to touch up a scratch. I called Autobacs to check, but their stores don’t have the color I’m looking for. (Code: 9AL, name: Deep Garnet Metalic)
  18. wonder if this will take off if in the mass market ?
  19. Hi all, Can anyone here advise what cld be wrong? After the car has been stopped for 30mins or more, there will be this harsh rattling sound from the engine during start-up.. The sound is somehow like 'clattering'.. 'Clak clak clak' for abt 1s or so... Car no more warranty thu cant go back to borneo. Any current/ex is250 owners and experts here can give sound advise? Tks for all inputs.
  20. Carwow has put together three of the best cars to drift in its video. So will the Toyota 86 be the natural winner in this sideways comparison test? Going up against the 365bhp BMW M2 and the 467bhp Lexus GS F, the Toyota 86, with under 200bhp looks like it is going to have its work cut out. Thankfully the car has been blessed with an uprated suspension that is supposed to make drifting easier. But is it enough to get a wide enough angle to win this drifting test? Watch and find out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ceht40dpvo&t=360
  21. A rare Lexus LFA has crashed in Singapore last week and with less than 10 units on our shores, it is quite a painful sight to watch. Posted by a local Facebook user, the video of the supercar losing control has been circulating on the net. In the video, the driver of the LFA can be heard giving it the beans from the traffic lights and losing traction thereafter. Despite having traction control, the driver still loses control of it and ends up crashing into a lamppost. https://www.facebook.com/averywong89/videos/10156247591516992/

  25. Lexus Singapore has updated its website to include details of the 2013 Lexus IS saloon. This signals the imminent launch of the all new Japanese sports sedan in the Lion City. According to the website, three variants will be available for sale. They include the IS250, IS250 F Sport and the IS Hybrid. The IS250 retails from $229,000 while the F Sport and Hybrid version is priced from $258,000 and $233,000 respectively. The relatively close selling price of the 'normal' and hybrid variant may see a rise in the number of buyers going for the environmentally-friendlier model. The IS250 and the F Sport are powered by a 2.5-litre V6 Dual-VVT-I engine which is good for 208bhp. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and completes the century sprint in 8.1 seconds. The IS hybrid is equipped with the second generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system. It combines an electric motor with a newly-developed 2.5-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-I engine to produce a total output of 223bhp. Paired with an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission, the IS Hybrid goes from 0 to 100km/h in a respectable 8.5 seconds and returns a fuel consumption figure of 20km/L. All models come equipped with eight SRS airbags and offer eight external body colour selections. Dimension-wise, the new model measures 4,624mm by 2,031mm by 1,429mm (L x W x H). Its closest rival, the BMW 3 Series, is shorter but wider. For more information on the third generation Lexus IS, please refer to the link: http://www.lexus.com.sg/en/models/is/is-250.html
