  1. Late last year, rumours of Lexus testing an autonomous car circulated on the internet and many thought that the Japanese luxury automaker will come up with a self-driving car just like what Google did. But, that is not actually true. Lexus actually unveiled an integrated safety research vehicle at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The unveiling is Toyota's ongoing development on new safety technologies. According to Toyota North America's corporate manager of business strategy, Jim Pisz, "The company will never have a truly autonomous car." He also mentioned that much of the technology in the research car is already in the 2013 Lexus LS. Jim Pisz further explained on one of the features in the integrated safety research vehicle which is the active cruise control which can slow a car down to a stop and then accelerate back to the speed set on the cruise control. The company also pointed out that a similar feature in a rival German automaker's car isn't as 'smart' when compared to their unit. Lexus affirms that the company would not fully devote its resources in a self driving vehicle. A driver-less car is just a part of the research. What they are focusing on is a vehicle fitted with advanced automated technologies and paired with an intelligent, always attentive driver whose skills would contribute to safer driving. The research vehicle (which is a Lexus LS) shown at the show is fitted with a 360 degree LIDAR (light detection and ranging) on top of the car's roof. It detects objects up to 70 metres away and it reads stop lights and also detects pedestrians. The research car's computers manage three core functions; recognition of images through its cameras and sensors, judgment based in real time, and operations that send the decision to the car. Each of these core functions help to make the driver safer and more skilled during driving.
  2. You can probably feel that Lexus is keen to shake off that monotonous image that it has been stuck with all these years, when its official promo video (below) for its new RC F Coupe has an attractive model starring in it. This sexy lady in question is none other than Lisalla Montenegro, who also happens to be a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Not that the RC F coupe isn’t hot enough. With more than 450bhp and more than 520Nm of torque from its new 5.0-litre V8 engine, it is Lexus’s most powerful V8 engine ever produced. Expect a nice soundtrack coming out of its exhaust while blasting on towards its top speed of more than 250km/h. We can’t wait for it to do battle with its rival, the upcoming BMW M4. http://dai.ly/x1cv2xb And we thought the guys would want a few more photos of Lisalla Montenegro too...
  3. Found a place selling this one, they ask me to try but I don't dare. The oil seems like is from Saudi Arabia.
  4. Juz wondering what is the difference btw the few models of Lexus Rx300, RX300LX and RX300BMR Anyone can help? Thanks
  5. Want a reliable driving machine that provides stress-free ownership? The recent 2013 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study by J.D Power suggests that you should get yourself a Lexus. In the study, Lexus came out on top with a score of 71 problems per 100 vehicles. Owners of three-year-old cars of various makes were asked to mention the problems they had with their vehicles in the last 12 months. Porsche took up second position after Lexus while Lincoln and Toyota tied for the third spot with a score of 112 PP 100. The overall average stands at 126 PP 100. The lowest 5 spots were taken up by Volkswagen, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Dodge and Land Rover. For individual models, the Lexus RX (above) had the highest dependability with just 57 problems per 100 vehicles, marking the first time in the survey an SUV came up on top. J.D. Power commented that 54% of owners who don't experience any problems with their vehicles stay with that brand for their next purchase. That loyalty rate slips to 41% when three or more problems are experienced.
  6. Hi everyone, I'm facing some problems with my car. From P, when i shift to D, its often very stiff. And recently, when I shift to R, it doesn't even engage until 2-3 secs later. Not sure if its the transmission or the clutch having problems. Could ppl recommend me a garage that specializes in Transmissions/Clutches that can be trusted and won't chop me? haha!
  7. The BMW 3 Series has gone the force-fed way, leaving the Lexus IS perhaps as the only model in the premium compact segment that still uses naturally-aspirated propulsion. As the saying goes, it is better to be late than never. Toyota is said to offer its first turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine in Lexus vehicles beginning late 2014 or early 2015. The new engine will debut in a new compact crossover called the NX 200t. The engine could possibly replace the 2.5-litre V6 as the entry level engine in the Lexus IS sedan lineup. It could also appear in other products such as the Toyota RAV4. The 2.0-litre turbo unit will likely surpass the 208bhp and 250Nm torque output of the naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre. By directing exhaust gas to rotate a turbine, which drives another turbine to pump fresh air into the combustion chambers at high pressure, a small capacity engine can deliver power comparable to an engine of much larger capacity.
  8. From Yahoo.news: http://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/201004...ts-7318940.html Toyota halts Lexus SUV sales after safety warning Reuters - Wednesday, April * Toyota asks U.S. dealers to suspend sales of Lexus GX 460 * Consumer Reports warns: 2010 Lexus 'safety risk' * Toyota says no decision yet on action in other markets * Toyota shares up 0.4 pct, matching Nikkei rise By Kevin Krolicki and David Bailey TOKYO/DETROIT, April 13 - Toyota Motor Corp <7203.T> has suspended sales of a new Lexus SUV in the U.S. market to investigate the risk for rollover accidents in the latest blow to the reputation of the world's largest automaker. Toyota took the unusual action of stopping sales of the 2010 Lexus GX 460 after Consumer Reports urged shoppers not to buy the sport utility vehicle, calling it a "safety risk" because of a potential handling problem in certain turns. Toyota, which also sells the Lexus GX in the Middle East, Oceania and Russia, said no decision has been made on whether sales would be suspended in those markets as well. Although the luxury SUV is a low-volume model for Toyota, the potential problem with its stability control adds to the toll from a safety crisis that has cost Toyota billions of dollars in lost sales and forced it to resort to cut-rate pricing. Shares of Toyota, which have are up 13 percent since early February, opened lower but were up less than half a percent in morning trade in Tokyo on Wednesday. The stock remains down 11 percent from late January when the first in a series of large recalls was announced. "Our understanding is that there is no problem with models other than the GX 460, since we have not received reports of problems," said Toyota spokeswoman Mieko Iwasaki. Toyota said its engineers were "vigorously testing" the SUV to identify the risk cited by Consumer Reports. The magazine said its own testing found the Lexus was prone to slide when driven in sweeping turns. The rare warning from the nonprofit magazine, which is seen as an objective voice on auto safety and quality in North America, stands out because its past endorsements have been credited as one reason for Toyota's steady sales growth. Toyota has sold about 5,400 of the Lexus GX 460 SUVs in the four months since it has been on the market. The GX, which is based on the same platform as the off-road ready Toyota 4Runner, starts at just over $50,000. A similar SUV has been sold in Japan and elsewhere as the Prado although the new version of the Lexus GX is now substantially different, Toyota's Iwasaki said. The automaker said it would provide a loaner vehicle until a remedy is available to owners who are concerned. The last time Consumer Reports concluded that a vehicle was "not acceptable" for consumers to buy was in 2001, when it warned consumers away from the Mitsubishi Montero Limited. "This is the last thing Toyota needs right now," said IHS Global Insight analyst Aaron Bragman, who said it was more likely that Toyota would have to continue to resort to steep discounts of up to $5,000 to win back consumers. Toyota has struggled under massive recalls due to defective sticky accelerator pedals and the potential for floormats to entrap the accelerator. The sticky accelerator pedals also led to U.S. sales and production halts. SOFTWARE GLITCH? U.S. safety regulators have proposed a record $16.4 million fine against Toyota, the highest allowed, accusing the automaker of knowingly delaying a recall over the defective accelerator pedals and may seek more penalties. The recalls also sparked congressional hearings and numerous lawsuits. The automaker's U.S. sales fell 16 percent year-over-year in January and 9 percent in February before rising 41 percent in March under unprecedented incentives. U.S. officials are continuing a probe into whether unintended acceleration, which Toyota has attributed to mechanical issues, also could have been caused by electronics issues. The GX represented about 10 percent of U.S. Lexus sales in the first quarter, industry-tracking firm Edmunds.com said. But Dennis Virag, president of the Automotive Consulting Group, said the problem identified by Consumer Reports could bring renewed attention to potential software glitches. Some safety advocates have suggested such problems could be behind reports of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles, a claim the automaker says there is no evidence to support. "It is another chink in their armor and an indication that perhaps they do have software problems not only in this vehicle but in other vehicles as well," Virag said. Consumer Reports said the sliding its test drivers found in the GX 460 could cause rollover accidents resulting in serious injury or death. It said it knew of no reports of such accidents. It said the risk of a rollover accident in the GX 460 was significant because it is a tall SUV with a high center of gravity. No other SUV had slid as far as the Lexus in its recent testing, including the Toyota 4Runner, the magazine said. 9. Set to be launched at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, Lexus has released a series of photos of the 2014 Lexus IS sports sedan showing the car's exterior and interior styling. As expected, the third generation Lexus IS exterior lines follow closely to that of the LF-CC Concept, featuring a prominent spindle grille and distinctive daylight running LED. At the back, the car sports a dual exhaust system and a pair of taillights that extends to the C pillar. Lexus has not released any official information regarding the third generation IS's drivetrains. However, the IS 250 and IS 350 are expected to be powered by the 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre V6 borrowed from its bigger brother, the GS. These engines will be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. Toyota's premium division commented that the new IS's increased width and longer wheelbase offers significantly more comfort for the rear passengers while improving luggage capacity at the same time. The car pictured here is the F Sport trim variant.

Problem is i can hear or feel it everytime i drove the car. My wife who is not mechanically inclined also can feel/hear it. so, i need help from bros/sis on this forum who may have encounter similar issues to help me diagnose the issue OR recommend me a good workshop that may be able help me (other than lexus) BTW, i bought from Turf City. Never trust those guys again. ..my car still stinks from cig smell. All empty promises from dealer to help remove it. Quite embarassing to hear remarks of ...Your car reeks of cig smell...from my friends
  14. When someone is considering a performance mid-size luxury sedan, probably they will look at something like the BMW M5 or the Audi S6. If that person prefers a Japanese car, then he or she will be left with very little choices. How little are those choices? Probably close to nothing. But, fret not because Japanese luxury automaker, Lexus is bringing a supercharged GS350 F Sport to SEMA. And on top of that, the company might consider adding a more powerful version of the GS in the near future. The supercharged GS350 F Sport is a collaboration between Lexus and Californian auto tuner, VIP Auto Salon. The car receives a custom Apexi supercharger kit. Other than this, an Apexi throttle recalibration system and a dual exhaust pipe that stretches from the headers all the way to the back are added too. To cope with the extra horsepower, a Brembo High Performance GT brake kit and RSR coilovers are fitted on all four corners. 20 inch Vossen wheels replace the stock ones and the wheels are wrapped in Yokohama S Drive tyres. On the outside, the car is fitted with a custom made aero bodykit from Japanese tuner Wald International. The kit consists of a lip spoiler, side skirts and roof and trunk lid spoilers. No power figures were released at the moment but my guess it would be around the mid 400bhp mark. Just last year, Lexus unveiled the GS350 F Sport at SEMA. Although it may have a different look from the normal GS but in terms of performance; it is pretty much the same. Consumers might not be impressed with a car like that especially with a sporty sounding name. The introduction of the supercharged GS350 F Sport is probably Lexus
  15. surprise, cos there was no news previously... i think it should sell, presumably 350 wasn't selling that well cos people can't accept its engine capacity?
  16. Lexus has introduced the second iteration of the striking Lexus LF-LC concept at the 2012 Sydney Motor Show. On the outside, the most obvious difference from the original version shown at the Detroit Auto Show is the color. Instead of red; the concept is painted in blue. According to Lexus, the new shade is inspired by the glossy base color found in naturally occurring semi-precious opal stone of outback Australia. The updates over the initial concept are more than skin deep though. The blue LF-LC leverages on Lexus' extensive in-house experience in combining carbon fibre and aluminium alloy materials to achieve a light body mass. The result is an extremely taut body that responds quickly to driver
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVcM04W4Qfo Lexus has released a short video clip to promote its new concept, the LF-CC, which will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show Starting the end of September. The concept shall preview an affordable mid-size coupe and styling direction that the next generation Lexus IS sedan will take. The concept is driven by Lexus Hybrid Drive consisting of an all-new 2.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine and a compact permanent magnet electric motor. This promises to set new standards in fuel economy and produce less than 100 grams of CO2/km travelled. Taking central stage at the front fascia of the LF-CC is an aggressive interpretation of Lexus
  18. Just a teaser photo at the moment but I am looking forward to it already. Hope it is still a NA big CC car! http://paultan.org/2013/12/10/lexus-rcf-detroit-2014/
  19. Toyota, a brand that is highly regarded for its top notch build quality in the past, has issued two massive recalls involving nearly 1 million Corollas and over 300,000 Lexus IS models. These add to a long list of recalls that have plagued the Japanese carmaker in recent years. The Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles affected are built between December 2001 and May 2004. Most of these defective cars are located in the U.S. For the problematic Lexus IS models, they are manufactured from May 2005 to October 2011. According to Toyota, the airbag control modules in these Corollas are susceptible to internal shorting, which can cause the frontal airbags to inadvertently deploy. For the Lexus IS, the wiper arm nuts might not be tightened sufficiently and in the event of heavy snow buildup on the windshield, one or both of the wipers could malfunction - fortunately, it does not snow in Singapore. Toyota has just regained its top spot in the 2012 global sales chart from General Motors. Such bad publicity might jeopardize their chance of retaining that spot in 2013.
  20. Edmunds.com, an American online resource for automotive information, pitted the fresh-from-the oven 2013 Lexus IS250 against the Cadillac ATS 2.0 and the compact luxury segment leader, the BMW 328i. The IS250 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre V6 which is good for 204bhp. The 328i and ATS are both propelled by their respective 2.0-litre direct-injected, turbocharged four cylinder which produces 240bhp and 272bhp respectively. This is the third generation of the Lexus IS. However, will it be third time lucky against the BMW 3 Series?
  21. Although the 2014 Lexus IS is available with an optional F-Sport package, some may feel that it is not aggressive enough and want more. Good news. The folks at TRD have come up with a performance and styling kit for the baby Lexus. On the styling front, the sedan can be ordered with an aerodynamic body kit that includes a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a rear diffuser and an integrated trunk spoiler. Customers can also order a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels that sports a 15-spoke design. To improve the handling and steering feel, TRD retunes the suspension by adding a set of sport springs and dampers to make the car sit closer to the ground. TRD also offers underbody member braces. The engine output of the car remains unchanged. At the moment, the TRD aero kit and performance package are available only in Japan and the parts can be ordered separately.
  22. Lexus has stopped production of European-spec IS models due to new crash safety legislations that goes into effect at the end of the year. The issue concerns the shape of the front-end, which does not meet the new pedestrian safety requirements. Lexus has chosen not to make the necessary modifications to the current model as the all-new model is due early next year. The current IS will continue to be available at European dealerships until the existing inventory runs out. The second-generation IS was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005 as a pre-production model, with the production version debuting shortly after. Lexus sales in Europe have suffered in recent years - with the brand selling 15,000 cars in 2007 before declining rapidly to 10,000 in 2008 and just 6,200 cars in 2010. The arrival of the all new IS saloon will give the firm the impetus it needs in the junior executive sector. The third-generation IS is previewed by the striking LF-CC concept, featuring the latest version of the brand
