  1. According to an online source, the Lexus GS luxury sedan may be dropped after its current generation production ends. In the January issue of Japanese magazine MAG-X, Lexus Enthusiast, an online lexus forum, has discovered a report in it claiming that the GS will be dropped in 2018. The successor was supposed to be launched in the same year too. In the article, Toyota is believed to have suspended the development of the next-generation GS after realising that it is no longer needed in the firm’s range. It cite that the new LS luxury sedan would overlap with the V6-powered GS with its newly-adopted V6 engine. The last LS was powered by an eight cylinder engine.
  2. A Japanese website has reported that Lexus will use the Tokyo Motor Show in January to unveil a Lexus RX with a third-row seat. According to Mag-X, the large SUV will reportedly have the same wheelbase as the normal variant but will have a slightly different to provide enough room for the two additional passengers. Interestingly, the article mentioned that the passengers in the last row will be in for a squeeze as both leg and knee room will be limited. Power options are said to be similar to what we have now a.k.a the RX450h's 3.5-litre V6 that is combined with a hybrid powertrain that outputs a total of 308bhp.
  3. Hi all, I tried searching but to no avail. I recently bought a pre-owned IS250 and was looking for some stuff, I happily registered to http://clublexy.createforumhosting.com/ but notice it is almost dead. Tried google but could not find any other local forum for Lexus. Anyones know why or where have they moved to? Secondly, anyone knows where to find stockist for Lexus IS250 parts other than BM? Thanks to all.
  4. Toyota global branding chief Tokuo Fukuichi reckons the high demand for SUVs and crossovers now means that sedans must do better or they will die off. In an interview with Automotive News, Fukuichi said that sedans are 'too formal and needs to be more dynamic'. “Unless we can really offer a sedan experience you cannot have with an SUV or crossover, I think the sedan may not be able to survive if it does not evolve. At a certain point of time, the traditional, square, three-box sedan will go away,” he said. He then went on to add that SUVs have improved a lot recently and are now as comfortable as sedans and handle just as well. Also in the article, Fukuichi also hinted that there's a possibility that Lexus might create a Lexus wagon or a model with a shooting brake bodystyle if they had enough resources.

  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8jSdgT3DrcThe company’s American arm has created a one-off Lexus IS, which has been covered head-to-toe with a responsive LED lighting array. Created in conjunction Vevo, the Lexus LIT IS, as it’s known, was created for UK singer Dua Lipa and her latest music video “Be The One”. Almost every conceivable surface of the IS, excluding its windows, head- and tail-lights, have been turned into one giant LED screen. According to Lexus, the LIT IS features a density of 60 pixels per metre, 1610 metres of wire, 20 micro-controllers, and 5750 wires totalling 1610m in length. The lighting array is spread across 805 metres worth of LED strips. The setup can require up to 3000W to run, and is capable of emitting up to 175,000 lumens when all 41,999 LEDs are switched on. By way of comparison, a typical 60W light bulb emits around 800 lumens. The IS’ LED lighting array can be set to one of three modes: loop, Music Viz, and gesture. In Music Viz, the car’s lights react dynamically and in-sync to music. Set to gesture mode, the vehicle’s LEDs animate in response to hand movements by the driver. Meanwhile loop mode is said to highlight the IS’ curves and styling features.

  9. There has never been a Lexus like it: sheet metal, glass and plastics have been set aside for the creation of a one-off life-size model crafted in precision-cut cardboard. The remarkable Lexus Origami Car is a faithful replica of the new IS saloon, produced as a celebration of the human craftsmanship skills that go into every car Lexus makes. The skilled men and women – known as takumi – who work on the Lexus production lines, hone their dexterity skills by learning how to fold paper into an origami model cat, using only their non-dominant hand. The Origami Car takes the spirit of this talent to a far higher level, while also embracing the spirit of Lexus's Creating Amazing global brand campaign. The Origami Car has a fully fitted interior, functioning doors, headlights and rolling wheels. Thanks to an electric motor mounted on its steel and aluminium frame, it can even be driven. In terms of size and complexity, the project was an unprecedented undertaking for LaserCut Works and Scales and Models, UK-based specialist companies with extensive experience in the design and creation of prototypes, architectural models and bespoke commissions. Ruben Marcos, Scales and Models Company founder and director explained: "This was a very demanding job, with five people involved in the digital design, modelling, laser cutting and assembly. Just like Lexus, we were committed to producing the best possible quality." The creative process presented the team with a series of tough challenges: "The seats took a few attempts to get just right and the wheels required a lot of refining. Once we could see the physical pieces taking shape, we could identify where we needed to make improvements – as with anything, there were some elements of trial and error, but as we had all the resources we needed in-house, this made the changes easier to produce." Lexus provided the team with a digital 3D model of the IS, which was then divided into a series of principal parts, such as the main body, dashboard, seats and wheels. These were then digitally rendered in 10mm "slices" to provide the two-dimensional profiles needed for the laser cutting of each of the 1,700 sheets of 10mm-thick of cardboard – supplied by packaging experts DS Smith. Each layer was given its own reference number to help ensure it was assembled in the right sequence and the entire assembly was done by hand. A water-based/wood glue was used, which had to be left to set for 10 minutes after each application. Accuracy was vital, as changes couldn't be made once the glue had dried. In all, the Origami Car took three months to build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F7DnWAhox8
  10. Hi all, Was thinking of extending my current car's COE in 2015. However was adviced that since I want to extend, should get something that is reliable and better value. I narrowed down to the GS300 and E200 for their brand's reliability and comfort. Hope to get some comments here on which is a better car in terms of reliability, parts availability and workshops' familiarity with it. For mercedes, I am only aware of the good old w124 200E, 5spd, that is still running strong in many workhorses. The 1996 to 2003 w210 onwards seems to be less popular. For Lexus, I am only aware of the ES300 which is FWD and is a larger Camry-like car in other markets. I am looking at GS300 for its RWD but other than that not familiar with its characteristics. Appreciate any comments on the subject. Thanks in advance.
  11. A photo of a high performance model of the new LS has been shown in a Japanese magazine. Posted by Road&Track, the digital mock-up of the LS F was spotted on someone's Instagram and it shows the sports sedan having an aggressive front fascia with a massive spindle grille in the middle. The rest of the car is just as muscular and is fitted with some striking large wheels. According to the magazine, the car could be be revealed as an concept first as soon as the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show in October or the North American International Auto Show next year. The super saloon could be powered by a new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that will output around 600bhp.

  13. Need advice on the baby Lexus so anything is good for me. 1) How's the running cost in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance costs (parts and service)? Any reputable outside workshops that will do Lexus at less than cutthroat prices? :) 2) How's the reliability? 3) What the main gripes of this car? 4) Anyone selling it at a good price for the buyer? 5) Any other advice in general? Thanks!
  14. I am buying one of these, new one from AD for my next 10 years usage, my annual driving is around 18k mileage, seldom do long distance drive. Reliability, how much do i need to set a budget for repair cost (not under servicing and maintenance) for these model typically for 10 years driving. What are the typical problem parts which need repairing? I am not sure how to choose, i am fine with all these car style and handling and electronics. Seeking advices from the many car gurus here, which car is a smart buy? considering cost and maintenance. Thank you.
  15. My CD player is spoilt. Cannot play or eject the cd. Any shop can repair?
  16. Lexus will return to Salon Prive later in September this year to showcase its industry-leading range of full hybrid models. It will have a special focus on the F Sport versions of its cars, which combine sportier styling and performance with the peerless luxury, craftsmanship and advanced technologies that are associated to the Lexus brand. Among the line up will be the IS 300h F Sport, representing Lexus's all new sports saloon. Adopting Lexus Hybrid Drive technology for the first time, the new IS presents the latest interpretation of Lexus's L-finesse design philosophy. The effect is even more pronounced in the F Sport, with a stronger rendering of the spindle grille design and styling cues inside and out that take reference from the Lexus LFA supercar. As it delivers increased driving pleasure, the IS 300h achieves CO2 emissions from 99g/km and an official combined cycle fuel economy of 27.9km/L at the same time . It will be joined by the new GS 450h F Sport, representing the fourth generation of Lexus's luxury sports saloon. The GS's hybrid system combines a 288bhp V6 petrol engine with a compact but powerful electric motor. The GS 450h F Sport can accelerate from rest to 100km/h in less than six seconds and progress to a 249km/h top speed despite emitting a modest 141g/km of CO2. The Lexus RX - the original luxury SUV - has been consistently refined and developed over the years to the current RX 450h. It will be present at Salon Prive in F Sport trim too, demonstrating how Lexus has successfully interpreted its sporting theme across its full model range. Common with all current Lexus hybrids, the RX allows the driver to select different drive modes to prioritise fuel and emissions efficiency or performance, according to personal preference or driving conditions, including an EV mode for all-electric running with zero tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption. The LS 600h Premier is the flagship of the Lexus range, a limousine rich in advanced technologies and luxury features. The innovations include the world-first Lexus Climate Concierge, which maintains an ideal cabin environment by monitoring the individual facial temperature of each occupant to determine appropriate co-ordination of the ventilation, heating, heated seats and heated steering wheel. With handcrafted finishes, a supremely smooth V8 hybrid powertrain and a cabin designed for optimum comfort, the LS 600h fulfills Lexus' mission to deliver a world-class limousine.
  17. A brand new Lexus LX570 large SUV with no roof has showed up for sale in the Middle East asking for a huge amount of money, as reported on Carscoops. The roofless Lexus LX570 here is a 2016 model and is listed for sale at a price of 1.3 million AED. To put that into perspective, a used Ferrari 458 will set you back around 1 million AED. We are not sure this chopped Lexus is worth that much amount of cash to be honest. And it is definitely not pretty in our eyes. But if you do want to stand out, this might be one way to go about being noticed. The SUV is equipped with a 5.7-litre V8 engine that puts out 383bhp and will do the century sprint in 7.5 seconds or so if it has not been modified. Keen drivers can forget about buying this as losing the roof will kill the chassis structural rigidity which will in turn make it a bad steer.
  18. Hi bros and sis, My current car left 1 year lifespan, so starting to shop around for another car.. im looking at 3 yr old Merc E250 or the Lexus ES250. However, need to ask around for more advice if we compare these 2 models, which is a better option? Im looking at factors such as cabin space, maintenance, FC and reliability. Any advice is appreciated. :) Thx in advance.
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_BYvUlDviMAfter weeks of the 1st teaser, Lexus has finally shown off its hoverboard. But there's a catch, it may not be what most of us expected, but it’s still a mighty satisfying ride. Professional skateboarder Ross McGouran has plenty of spills on the way to mastering even basic moves. That’s perhaps not surprising, given that riding the Lexus hoverboard is basically like a train. The Lexus hoverboard relies on superconductors and magnets, which work against gravity to lift board and rider above the ground. That cool-looking steam coming off of the sides isn’t decorative; it’s liquid nitrogen, cooling the superconductors to -321 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature at which they become superconducting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_Oyx-vzZOg The steam’s not the only thing that may not be quite what it appears. The biggest disappointment is that course on which McGouran hover-shreds is actually has metal underneath it; on the surfaces that comprise the vast majority of our infrastructure, the hoverboard would simply be immobile. In fact, aside from its healthy dose of style, the Lexus hoverboard isn’t much different from a dozen lab demonstrations that have taken place over the last few decades. A highly constrained, not quite original hoverboard is still a hoverboard, though. And this one even comes with a bonus; Lexus put together a mini-doc about the process that gives a refreshing look at the physics behind it.
  20. It was only less than two years ago that we test drove the Lexus ES300h Hybrid. We rate it pretty well and it sold well too in our market. However, Lexus thought there was further room for improvement in the car. Fast forward to the present, we now have the new facelifted Lexus ES300h Hybrid here with us. Featuring a new face that includes a sharper "Spindle Grill", new lights and bumpers all round, the car looks more dynamic now. I must say the new design is such a big step forward that it makes the pre-facelift model look dated almost immediately. The newly-designed wheels complement the car well too. Inside, the biggest change that comes with the facelift is the new steering wheel. Again, the new wheel is a good step forward in design. It looks less clunky and modern compared to the older model. Elsewhere, a new gear shifter and a new wood trim freshen up the ES300h. There is no change in cabin space which didn't matter because it was more than adequate in the first place. That said, the ES is a best sampled as a rear passenger. Yup, rear passengers have access to a cool remote switch which allows them to adjust the front seat 's position to get maximum legroom when there is no one seated in front. Trunk space not the biggest around (420litres) but will still swallow a couple of golf bags. So how does the ES300h fare on the roads? Well, make no mistake, the ES300h is all about comfort and is no sports sedan. While the car no slouch (it does the century sprint in a brisk-enough 8.5 seconds), it is far from blistering. Step off from standstill is pleasantly immediate with the electric motor clearly providing a good load of instantaneous torque. If driven with a light foot, I believe the car can return a not-too-shabby-for-this-class 13-15km/L. You will need to use "Sport" mode to get the most out of the car. On the handling front, the Lexus is secure and predictable. You could also read that as being not exactly fun to drive. However, this is expected, considering its target audience isn't your typical "ah beng driver". Steering feels well-oiled and weighted enough to instill a good sense of stability while traveling on the highways. In conclusion, the updated ES300h is a car worthy of consideration for those who want a large Japanese luxury sedan to waft around in. While the updates are mostly non-mechanical, they do add up to give the car a slightly more upmarket feel.
  21. Hi guys, Anyone using Lexus Engine Oil for your car??? How much you purchase??? Please provide your view here. Thanks and Regards

  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zTCgMPZRuoIt's 2015, the year Marty jumped to in Back to the Future 2 and you still don't have a hoverboard. Right on time, Lexus has presented the latest example from its "Amazing in Motion" series of video spectacles: the Lexus Hoverboard. As you can see in the video after the break, it certainly appears to hover, and smoke, but no one actually hops on the magnetically-levitating device for a ride. Gizmodo heard from the carmaker that this project has been in development over the last 18 months, but couldn't get more specific info on how it works. The website explains that it's magnetic, with liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets, made with a Lexus grille and natural bamboo -- but stops there. We've seen a $10,000 magnetic hoverboard before, but it required a special metal track to ride on, and this teaser appears to show the board on regular ground (Lexus, confirmed that like the other examples we've seen, there is a metal surface underneath the skate park shown here -- it's real, but you won't be riding this thing just anywhere). That seems rather unlikely, but we'll have to wait to find out more. Lexus says it will bring regular updates in the coming weeks about its "real, rideable hoverboard" but for now all we have is a teaser video to watch and speculate about.
  24. Lexus has released a new commercial filled with its all new LC500's V8 engine sounds. Shot in the Spanish Sierra Nevada mountain range, the new short clip shows the sleek LC500 being driven on a beautiful road at night, with filmmakers using real projectors to portray some very impressive imagery on the huge rock walls along the road. To make sure the videos they want to project on the rock walls turn out well, they had to bring together four of the brightest projectors in the world and link them together for a seamless backdrop of images moving over the mountainside. For those of you who are wondering what resides under that bonnet, a 467bhp naturally-aspirated V8 sits there and is paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da9sVMELp8A
  25. Lexus won't venture into the supercar stratosphere with an LFA successor anytime soon, a top executive says. One reason: its eye-watering price tag. "I think you will see us do some incredible things in the future, but probably not a US$375,000 supercar anytime soon," Mark Templin, executive vice president of Lexus International. "We don't have a plan for an LFA successor right now," he said. Templin said Lexus is likely to offer some kind of halo nameplate in the future, but for now, it will focus on its F Sport tuner packages and F-series high-performance variants to buttress the brand's performance cred. During its two-year production run, the 552-hp V-10 LFA was positioned as the ultimate expression of Lexus quality and performance. The limited edition of 500 hand-built LFAs sold out even before production began in December 2010 in Toyota City. "When we started the LFA project, it wasn't as expensive a car as it turned out to be," Templin said. "It was a coupe for our people to move up in the family. We started developing it, and it got better and better. We switched from steel to aluminum to carbon fiber. Everything kept changing. It became this real supercar." Now Lexus is letting its mainstream vehicles carry forward the image makeover that the LFA sparked, getting serious about F Sport and F-series track-inspired editions. Visually, the transformation is exemplified by the spindle grille being applied across Lexus' lineup and the sharp sheet metal on the new NX crossover. Although the LFA ended production in December 2012, the car still pays handsome dividends, Templin said. "It was a great project because it inspired our engineers, and we learned a lot that is helping us with all our other products," Templin said. "Everything they learned about steering precision and great suspensions and lightweight materials." And the LFA hasn't completely gone away. Toyota's Gazoo Racing team is preparing a black-and-white LFA for this year's Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race. The entry would mark the LFA's eighth straight appearance at the legendary circuit.
