  1. I have been seeing a new white Mazda Biante along Braddell road towards CTE/Bartley Rd direction in the morning. I believe this model is rare in Singapore. Can't find the price or car model in MCF! Guess the PI are no longer bringing this in? For those considering buying a MPV, maybe can consider this model. I find it better looking than Mazda 5 or 8. I wonder how this guy bought it.

  3. Hi Car Guru, My 2008 Mazda 3 COE is coming to an end next March. I can't make up my mind should I scrap it or renew another 5 years COE. Millage up to 200K. - Me and my wife are currently undergoing the IVF process, so a car is very convenient for going for the appointments. But we can use Grab or taxi too. - The most important factor that's holding me back from renewing is the condition of my car. Break isn't "tight" anymore, need longer stopping distance. And one and off have battery problem. The type where you turn the ignition and the car just gives a "kik" sound and doesn't start. Need to turn the ignition a couple times for it to start. - Wonder how much I need to service or change the breaks and fix the battery problem? Another $5K $6K for everything? - I heard from my friend that car nowadays don't last more than 10 years. After the 10th year you will get more and more problems.
  4. A new report has suggested a hot version of the new Mazda 3 might turn into reality. If true, the car could go on sale in 2021. While we did not get the past generations of Mazdaspeed 3 in Singapore, hot hatch enthusiasts here would surely appreciate Mazda creating such a car for the future. As reported by Autocar, the hot 3 might likely a similar version of the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder that powers the CX-9 here. Making around 250bhp and 420Nm of torque, it remains unclear if the car would be offered with front or all-wheel drive or maybe even both. It is also not known if it would be paired with a six-speed manual or an automatic. According to Mazda3 program manager Kota Beppu, there’s been significant interest in a hot Mazda 3 from “most developed countries” and he himself would love to have one. He then added on that the car could have more power than some of its rivals but would need to be “responsible and friendly… more friendly than a Golf GTI.”
  5. If you feel your 2019 Mazda MX-5 that has the uprated 181bhp 2.0-litre engine not brisk enough, BBR has the solution for you. First up is the performance package called Super 200 and it include the brand's cold air intake system, stainless steel exhaust manifold, K&N air filter and StarChip ECU remap, boosting the horsepower figure by 18bhp and 14Nm of torque, or 199bhp and 224Nm of torque in total. The second package (Super 220) is the one that catches our attention and in addition to what has been installed in the Super 200 package, the Super 220 includes high-performance camshafts, valve springs and retainers, pushing the total power output to 218bhp and 217Nm of torque. That said, those figures have been achieved using 99-octane gasoline. “This is the first time that over 100bhp-per-litre has been achieved from a normally aspirated Mazda MX-5motor without internal modifications”, said the tuner’s Managing Director, Neil McKay. “And additional development has seen BBR achieve more than 110 hp per liter with the inclusion of our bespoke performance camshafts, which is astonishing for a road-friendly engine that now also produces over 200Nm from just 3,000rpm.” The aftermarket company also has other goodies like a 2.5-inch center exhaust section with a choice of rear silencers, and a 4-into-1 tuned stainless steel exhaust manifold that incorporates a performance catalytic converter, to push out a couple of extra horses. Both packages have a 12- to 36-month extendable warranty.
  6. Hi all, I just bought a manual 2016 MX-5 (ND) Soft-Top. When I brought it for servicing last week, the mechanic can't locate the fuel filter. After looking for it for 45 mins, he finally concluded that the fuel filter must be hidden underneath the soft-top canvas because he has looked everywhere. As it was late, he asked me to come another day so that he can have a head-start on dismantling the soft-top canvas to reach the fuel filter. I was wondering if anyone knows where the fuel filter is on a 2016 ND Soft-Top? Is it really underneath the soft-top canvas and a dismantle has to be done on the soft-top canvas to access the fuel filter? I appreciate if there are suggestions or youtube links in accessing the fuel filter. Thanks.
  7. Hi guys those who bought CX5 ..please come in and comment on ur ride ... good or bad ..please Thanks
  8. Last week, we published a post where we reported that two thirds of the Toyota 86s sold in US were automatics. However, Mazda begs to differ with some stats of their own and give the manual transmission supporters some hope. U.S. publication Autoblog spoke to Mazda PR program manager Tim Olson and was told that a staggering 76% of the MX-5 buyers in America selected the manual transmission option, leaving the rest with the six-speed automatic. Being the purer car, the sales data was based on the soft-top version of the car from July 2018. As for the MX-5 RF, 52% of the sales in the past 12 months were made up of stick shift cars while the remaining 48% sold have the automatic gearbox. While the above numbers do proof that driving enthusiasts are still voting with their money for manual gearboxes, it is weird to find Toyota reporting that only 33% of its 86 buyers opt for the self-shifting option.
  9. Using the Tesla Model S P85 as his daily drive, Christian von Koenigsegg surprisingly does not own any Koenigsegg despite being the boss of the company. In an interview with Road and Track, von Koenigsegg revealed that he also has a Model 3 on the way while his wife gets around in a Volvo XC90 and a Porsche 911 Targa. And eight months ago, they managed to add another car to their collection, a 1992 NA Mazda MX-5. This is no ordinary car as it was the exact same car von Koenigsegg owned around the time his company was founded a quarter of a century ago. “My first MX-5 has been back in my hands for about eight months,” he told the publication. “Our transport manager went to a car show on a Swedish island called Öland, and there was this black Mazda MX-5 that said it ‘used to be Christian von Koenigsegg’s car.’ So, he called me up and I spoke to the owner. “I overpaid a little bit to get it back, but now I can enjoy it on warm summer days! It’s in great condition, and it’s actually as enjoyable as I remembered to drive!” von Koenigsegg said. While the MX-5 might pale in comparison in terms of power with all the hypercars that he builds, von Koenigsegg loves it and says the car is a “good example on how you can have fun with a car with almost no power.”
  10. http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/mazda-announces-breakthrough-in-long-coveted-engine-technology/ar-AApIOMK?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=mailsignout Mazda announces breakthrough in long-coveted engine technology Mazda Motor Corp said it would become the world's first automaker to commercialise a much more efficient petrol engine using technology that deep-pocketed rivals have been trying to engineer for decades, a twist in an industry increasingly going electric. The new compression ignition engine is 20 percent to 30 percent more fuel efficient than the Japanese automaker's current engines and uses a technology that has eluded the likes of Daimler AG and General Motors Co. A homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine ignites petrol through compression, eliminating spark plugs. Its fuel economy potentially matches that of a diesel engine without high emissions of nitrogen oxides or sooty particulates. Mazda's engine employs spark plugs under certain conditions, such as at low temperatures, to overcome technical hurdles that have hampered commercialisation of the technology. Executive Vice President Akira Marumoto called Mazda's engine technology the automaker's "heart". The engine is called SKYACTIV-X and Mazda had no plans to supply the engine to other carmakers, Marumoto said.
  11. If the design of the Mazda MX-5 or the Fiat 124 Spider doesn't appeal to you, Mitsuoka's roadster, the Rock Star might make you sit up and take notice. Also based on the current Mazda MX-5 like the Fiat is, the Rock Star has most of its body panels switched out to mimic the lines of the second-generation Chevrolet Corvette. However, the interior has been mostly left untouched with only the mazda badges switched out for Mitsuoka's. The brand does offer quite a few options including painted upper door trim, special leather seats and an extended leather package. For sale in the Japan only, the car uses the same 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G engine that outputs 130bhp and 152Nm from the MX-5 and can be paired with either the six-speed manual or the six-speed automatic. The Rock Star is no affordable roadster as reflected by its starting price of 4.69 million yen S$(57,500). In comparison, its donor car, the Mazda MX-5 can be had from 2.55 million yen (S$31,300).
  12. Mazda has secured the MX-6 nameplate recently and naturally rumors are now flying around saying that we will see a new coupe from the brand in the future. According to AutoGuide, the name was filed to the authorities a few months ago and its use has been referred to as “automobiles and parts and accessories thereof”. That said, that doesn't necessarily mean Mazda will be launching a new product. It is possible the name has been secured to prevent other brands from using the name. As of now, there is no official information on the whether this is will turn out to be anything but if it does, we guess it will be a four-door fastback in the size of the Mazda6 with some form of rotary technology in its hybrid powertrain. The last MX-6 was a front-wheel drive, two-door coupe and was on sale till 1997. In its most powerful form, it had a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre V6 producing nearly 200bhp. It wasn't a commercial success and the car didn't have a successor, till hopefully soon.
  13. Hi peeps. I’m looking for lips and skirts for Mazda 3. The very popular workshop will be JDM but find them pricy. Anybody got recommendations for cheaper alternatives? Found one at Empire bodykit. Anybody heard about them before? Thanks!
  14. Just revealed at the Thai Auto Show. A Mazda 2 with a boot; A mini 3; likely will be made in Thailand. Set to take on the Toyota Vios. Honda City, Nissan Almera. Seems like the engine at launch is the SkyActiv-D 1.5 (aka Diesel); unsure if the 1.5 SkyActiv-G will be made available but I guess it has to be if it were to sell in greater quantities in SG. Transmission likely same as the 2 Hatch, which means it will likely be the 6 speed SkyActiv Drive transmission with Sports mode. Those in the market for a car in this segment, stay tuned.

  16. The first spy shots of the upcoming Mazda3 hatchback have surfaced online. The sedan body style will also be launched at the same time when the car debuts at the coming LA Auto Show at the end of this month. Judging from the photos, it is quite clear that the car follows closely to the Kai Concept that was shown in late 2017. Thankfully, the Mazda engineers did not cover the inside of the car, allowing us to catch a good look of the all new interior. While one can say the exterior design is evolutionary, you can't say so for the interior as the dashboard design as it is even more driver-focused than before. It also looks cleaner than the current car's with fewer buttons. According to Carscoops, the car is said to be based on the a new platform, offering drivers a lower seating position and better handling and improved refinement. It will also benefit from a new SkyActiv-X engine that promises excellent fuel economy without sacrificing power. The naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre engine is believed to be able to produce an impressive 187bhp and 230Nm of torque.
  17. Mazda cx5 drivers come in here please! Share your experiences about your cx5 and let's talk about it
  18. Hi guys, I'm a new driver and just bought a 2nd hand Mazda which is close to 2 years old and close to 20k kms. So I sent it to Mazda service centre to do the 20k service this morning after driving it for a few days which I didn't notice any problem with the car. I just got a call from the Mazda technician telling me that the battery is charging very slowly and they suggest to replace it with a new one at the cost of S$145. I have very little knowledge about cars but after google a little bit I think the price is higher than purchasing from 3rd party but that I can accept since everything from the original manufacturer is more expensive than from open market. But a faulty battery on a 2 years old car, is that reasonable? how long does car batteries usually last. And any suggestions for a newbie on (consumable) car parts purchases in Singapore? And any recommended service/repair shop after warranty is over? or shall I stick to Mazda for service/repair? I live in Choa Chu Kang and work in Clementi so any suggestion closer will be appreciated. Thanks a lot!
  19. The Mazda MX-5 (known as Mazda Roadster in Japan) has won the 2016 World Car of the Year award. It is the second Mazda to win the award, following the Mazda 2 (known as Mazda Demio) in 2008. The third generation MX-5 was one of three finalists for the same award in 2006, as was the Mazda 3 in 2014. In addition to taking the main award this year, the MX-5 has also been named World Car Design of the Year. It is the first time in the history of the awards that a single model has taken both titles. World Car of the Year was established in 2004 by an international group of automotive journalists, and the judging panel this year consisted of 73 journalists from 23 different countries. The MX-5 was announced victorious over other finalists Audi A4 Sedan/Audi A4 Avant and Mercedes-Benz GLC at the New York International auto show on March 24. The other finalists for World Car Design of the Year were the Jaguar XE and Mazda CX-3. “What a wonderful honor, to have the Mazda MX-5 named both World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year,” said Masahiro Moro, President and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, and Managing Executive Officer, Mazda Motor Corporation. “As our iconic MX-5 roadster approaches one-million units of production, this award is proof that it is as young, vibrant, fun and relevant as ever, and proof that every Mazda looks as incredible as it drives, and drives as incredibly as it looks. While I accept this award on behalf of the company, I do so representing every Mazda employee, retail partner and customer around the world who has ever felt the joy of driving a pure roadster. We say ‘Driving Matters’ in our advertising,* and we prove it in our cars.”
  20. Any good recommendation for servicing Mazda 3 80k? Preferably in the east and reasonable price.
  21. With the help of Ipsos MORI UK-based market research firm), Mazda has concluded a research, showing European drivers still see future in internal combustion engines. Nearly 60 percent of the 11,008 people polled still expect to see the internal combustion engine in action in the future of cars, unlike what many automakers believe. Conducted in September last year, the Mazda Driver Project research also showed findings where 31 percent of the drivers “hope that diesel cars will continue to exist” as electric cars become more common. 33 percent of the drivers said that if running costs were the same as an electric car, they would “prefer a petrol or diesel car”. What about the autonomous vehicles? Only an average of 33 percent “welcome the advent of self-driving cars” and there is almost no evidence of greater support for self-driving in younger age groups across Europe. In short, Mazda believes that driving is still a skill that people want to keep and cherish. Adding on, many people would like to see this skill retained for future generations, with an average 69 percent of drivers “hoping that future generations will continue to have the option to drive cars.” .
  22. Mazda aims to develop a new petrol engine technology that will allow its cars to be as clean as an Electric Vehicle (EV). As reported by Autonews, Mazda’s powertrain head, Mitsuo Hitomi, revealed that the new engine will be named under the Skyactiv-3 brand and its main goal is to boost thermal efficiency which in turn reduces the amount of combustion energy lost to heat and increases the amount that can be used. Hitomi explained that it they can increase the thermal efficiency of its engines by 27 percent to a total of 56 percent, their cars can then achieve emissions on par with those of an electrified vehicle. Furthermore, if carbon dioxide emissions can be cut by 25 percent, Mazda’s gasoline engines will be able to go wheel-to-wheel with EVs when it comes to fuel economy. In comparison, Toyota's Prius, which made headlines when it came to thermal efficiency, only achieves 40 percent. That said, no timeline was given for the arrival of the new generation Skyactiv-3 engines.
  23. Mazda has announced specifications for the newly-enhanced MX-5. The naturally-aspirated engine will now get '15 percent or more' horsepower. Set to be unveiled near the end of July, the updated roadster and RF will get a 'drastically revised' 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G engine has been equipped with an optimised air intake, new cylinder heads, revised pistons and different connecting rods. Impressively, weight is said to be reduced too but no figures were given. In addition, torque has increased for the throughout the whole rev range and the redline now goes up from 6,800 rpm to 7,500 rpm. Based on the percentage given by the press release, the engine should now output around 180bhp. Besides being more powerful, the upgraded engine is more eco-friendly and fuel-efficient. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G engine has also been improved. It will produce around 130bhp is said to also offer improved fuel economy numbers.
  24. Just bought a Mazda 5 SP 2008. Looking to replace the spark plugs but it seems that there is some with 18mm reach and some with 25mm reach. Like to seek advice on which is the correct ones to use. Thanks in advance
