  1. wHats wrong with our friend here? Putting ur uturn skills to the test https://m.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=1004716&DL=2563
  2. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/18/tesla-model-s-review Read the review. Sounds exciting!
  3. This is priced close to Model 3. So likely to be below S$200k. Add in the petrol savings it would be a compelling buy. Good reviews on the 3rd row and boot space too. https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-y-7-seater-third-row-seats-legroom-review-video/?fbclid=IwAR1h02nBcnXrsb_-Vqsm-chGA3vTE5m3EFPdc_k7IzBkCKhomAm6mEWSvkQ
  4. These thieves don't seem to have a clue, but the whole story is pretty comical and informative. Tesla Model 3 owner Annabelle Brett was alerted that her car's alarm was triggered. The notification came to her phone via the Tesla Mobile app. Of course, she headed to the locked parking garage to check on her car, only to find it had gone missing. However, she knew the car would have Sentry Mode footage of the incident, and she also knew she could track its whereabouts using the app. Brett was smart to take a friend along, as well as contact the authorities. While Brett was tracking the Model 3 and proceeding to its location, she was also able to use the Tesla Mobile app to activate Valet Mode, among other features not directly related to safety or security. This means she could honk the horn, flash the car's lights, open and close the roof and windows, control media, and more. Brett took full advantage of the app's features to not only slow the car down but also to mess with the car's features to assure she had the thieves' attention. It didn't take long before the criminals changed plans, left Brett's Model 3, and tried to flee. The thieves were in such a hurry, they left one of their driver's licenses in the car. It didn't matter much though, since Brett had the incident on camera, and one of the criminals was easily identified. https://www.facebook.com/ACurrentAffair9/videos/3369061069857292/ Am I the only one here who have concerns with such remote access features (over an app), which can manipulate a moving car? What if someone other then the owner pickup the phone and started messing around with the car when the owner is driving it? Accident awaiting to happen? Imagine @Jamesc is driving his newly purchase Tesla to meet his small three, but left his phone at home, and her beloved MIL heck into his phone and started messing around with the driving parameters while he is behind the wheel?
  5. How many of you actually pay attention to automotive brand or their logo, and are curious how a car model get it name? The key objective of this thread is to allow us to share what we know about a particular brand, model and/or it logo. Let me start with the follow brands. More to be added. Alfa Romeo I own up first, I didn't know that the word ALFA is actually an abbreviation, which stand for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, whereas ROMEO is the name of a Neapolitan Entrepreneur, Nicola Romeo (who take control of the company in 1915), instead of it founder, Alexandre Darracq. I will skip the history part, as I don't wish you to fall asleep (as I normally do during history lesson ). But the most interesting part is with it logo, and again I have to admit, I have all the while thought that the snake-like creature on the right side of the logo is spitting fire, while the "fire" it is actually a human at the mouth of the "snake"! So have anyone managed to guess how the logo come about? Why is something so cruel being featured on the company logo? OK, there is 2 version of the story actually. Version #1: From Wikipedia Alfa Romeo's logo incorporates two heraldic devices traditionally associated with its birthplace, the city of Milan: a red cross, from the emblem of Milan, and the biscione (a heraldic charge showing on argent an azure serpent in the act of consuming a human; usually a child and sometimes described as a Moor or an Ottoman Turk), a crowned viper swallowing a Moor—emblem of the House of Visconti, rulers of the city in the 14th century. Version #2: From Alfa Romeo On the left: the red cross on white field is the symbol of Milan, the hometown of Alfa Romeo. On the right: the symbol of one of the most important families in the history of Milan (and Italy), the Visconti family – the family that ruled Milan. There are a lot of legends about the origins of this heraldic symbol, representing a mythological animal with a human in his mouth (some believe it to be a dragon, but most likely a snake). During the time of the crusades, Otone Visconti , the founder of Visconti Family and a knight, fought against a noble Saracen knight (nomad from the Syrian Desert that bordered the Roman Empire). Otone beat the Saracen knight and, following the tradition, took the symbols the Saracen carried on his shield: a snake with a human in his mouth. At first glance, it looks like the snake is eating the human. Instead, the human is coming out of the snake a "new man," purified and renewed. The meaning: The snake is a circular animal (a snake can assume a circular position) and is an animal of the changing – able to change his skin regularly and totally renew or rebirth himself. BMW OK, I believe most, if not all MCFer knew that BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works (Bayerische Motoren Werke in German). But how does the blue propeller styled logo come about? Although some associated it with a spinning aircraft propeller (BMW was once in aviation business too - producing aircraft engine under Rapp Motorenwerke), it is actually derived from the logo of Rapp Motorenwerke, from which the BMW company grew, whereas blue and white is the official colors of the Bavarian flag.
  6. Hello everyone! This week, we had chance to drive, Tesla’s flagship sedan, Model S P100D. With the super electric car, we have done 0-60 using ludicrous mode and tried using auto pilot system. Is it worth all the money? Do you buy this to save planet or for your enjoyment. Let’s find out Alex’s youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/KoreanAlex https://youtu.be/oMJV6JJOX70
  7. A software engineer has successfully implanted into her forearm her Tesla Model 3's keycard chip. she can now enter her car by simply waving her arm near the car’s sensors. The YouTuber, who goes by the alias Amie DD, is no stranger to ‘body modification'. A couple of years ago, she an RFID tag inserted into her arm so that she could open the front door at her house. Being a software expert, there were probably other things she could do with the chip in her arm too. So when her Tesla Model 3 arrived, she though that her car's keycard would use a similar RFID technology that would allow her to simply transfer the data from the card to her existing chip. However, it didn't work out hence she had to remove the chip from the card and insert it into her arm. For those of you who aren't afraid of seeing blood, you can watch her other video whereby she shows us how the chip is inserted into the her arm. Since then, she has managed to get it to work, as long as her forearm must be about 25 mm from the car’s center console before it will start up.
  8. Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk has confirmed that the electric company's P100D Model S and Model X SUV will go even faster. The news was announced on Musk's Twitter account saying "there will be a P100D Ludicrous Easter egg soon that uncorks the full performance". By mentioning 'full performance', we guess the car will be able to go faster via an over-the-air update. The Model S P100D is claimed to be the fastest accelerating production car on sale, with an acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds for the century sprint.
  9. You probably know a bit about Polestar by now – the racing team that became Volvo’s tuning arm, that became a standalone electric performance brand in 2017. You might even have gazed longingly at the company’s first car, the Polestar 1, a 600bhp plug-in hybrid coupe costing €155,000 and limited to 1,500 units. But frankly the 1 is just eye candy - in Polestar’s masterplan, the 2 is the one that matters. This is Polestar’s Tesla Model 3 rival, and it’s not shying away from the fact either, name-checking the Model 3 in the fourth line of its press release. And why wouldn’t you? Tesla is close to selling 500,000 a year of its first, truly mass-market EV because it offers a range of over 300 miles, it’s fast, it appeals to tech lovers and it’s relatively affordable. Polestar has been taking notes. The 2 is an all-electric, 4WD, five-door saloon-shaped hatchback – or ‘fastback’ according to Polestar - with a 311-mile range from its 78kWh battery, 402bhp and a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds. By comparison the long-range, AWD Model 3 (that’s not the 444bhp M3-rivalling performance version, by the way) has a 338-mile range (the longest of any WLTP certified EV) from its 74kWh battery, 341bhp and 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds. Spot any similarities? Not that we’re complaining you understand… And then there’s the price. The launch version of the Polestar 2 (the only one available for the first year of production, which starts in early 2020) costs €59,900, although Polestar will offer a subscription-style plan (prices TBC) that includes one monthly payment to cover everything except charging. The long-range, AWD Model 3 starts at €58,800. The Model 3 looks a bit generic, the kind of car a 10-year old might doodle, the Polestar is much sharper – all taught creases and Swedish minimalism. The Volvo fans out there will have spotted this is almost identical to the Volvo 40.2 concept from 2016, except for the addition of smaller, more aero efficient, framelesss wing mirrors - a Polestar patent, no less - and a full width light bar at the back.

  12. The Infiniti Qs Inspiration concept has been revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show, previewing an upcoming three-box sports saloon The new Infiniti Qs Inspiration concept, which previews a new upcoming production model, has been officially revealed at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. The Qs Inspiration concept is a saloon sibling for the QX Inspiration concept SUV, revealed earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show. The front of the Qs uses the industry-norm blank grille, with a large Infiniti badge, illuminated lettering and sharp headlights. The blacked-out windows and A-pillars give it the appearance of a floating roof, while the handle-less doors continue the streamlined design to the as yet, unseen rear end. Infiniti says that the Qs Inspiration has been designed to offer a high driving position while still keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible for optimum control and handling. Under the metal of the Qs sits a new platform. Infiniti says it is a ‘flexible’ architecture designed specifically for fully-electric and hybrid e-POWER drivetrains, borrowed from sister brand Nissan. In the case of the Qs, the powertrain is a ‘high-performance’ all-wheel-drive setup. Though the concept directly previews a new three-box saloon, we won’t be seeing the final product in Britain: Infiniti has announced it plans to pull out of Europe by 2020. The brand will focus more on the Chinese and American markets, where large saloons are still popular. Christian Meunier, Chairman of Infiniti, said: "The age of electrification presents us with an opportunity to renew our credentials as an innovative challenger brand, ready to move quickly and decisively in this growing and exciting area of the market."
  13. Tesla will be updating its all-wheel drive Model 3 Performance with a new Track Mode via over-the-air updates as the company tries to make it a sportier drive. Replacing the standard stability control software, the new update features a new, in-house developed ‘Vehicle Dynamics Controller’ that acts both as a stability control system and a performance handling upgrade. When using the mode, Tesla will allow the car to vary the torque from the front and rear motors to assist the car in turn-in. Drift wannabes will be happy to hear that that their latest software can tell when the driver wants the car to go more or less sideways and direct torque to the rear or front wheels accordingly. Heavier re-generative braking has also been enabled, which aims to prevent early brake fade So will the new track mode overwork the Model 3's battery and motors? Tesla says that new mode proactively cools the battery and motors before track driving and in between drive sessions, with the software allowing operation beyond the normal thermal limits, enabled by an “overclocked” AC compressor. The hot electric motors also use the battery pack as a huge heatsink to cool down. Apparently the Model 3 Dual Motor Performance has lapped America's Willow Springs in 1:21.49, faster than what a Ferrari 458 Italia did on the same track by nearly a second. However, the Model 3 was fitted with a set of Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and Brembo brake pads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJu8PJO_Xd4
  14. Coe has been on hovering 70k plus and nobody know when it will drop and new car and used car (2L and above) price is still very expensive to certain people even for 2L and below for those who currently own a car now and the coe going to expire soon and caught in the middle of buying new or used car but if the currently own car (2L and above) is in good condition and have been service regularly, will be make sense to renew it if just paying 70k plus for the next 10 years as the new/ used car depreciation is above 10k and above for a 2L car
  15. Lamborghini is said to reveal it's first limited run V12 hybrid hypercar codenamed the LB48H. Developed along the same vein as the Reventon and Centenario it will serve as the successor to the Aventador. The design for the body will be similar to the 2017 MIT co-developed Terzo Millennio electric concept car. It's front wheels will be hooked up to an electric motor with it's rear axle powered by the traditional 6.5 litre V12. LB48H is the technical name for the car but they are yet to reveal the final name said Lamborghini's Chief Commercial Officer Federico Foschini. The car will be revealed at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September. In true limited edition exotic car fashion all of them have been sold since the release of this article.
  16. Hello, I am considering purchasing a Honda CRV 2014 model. Is this a safe car? Or should I buy something that is more expensive to get a safer car? When I purchase a used car it is important that the car is high. Thank you in advance for response.

  18. A Tesla customer recently received their gleaming new Model 3 and to their horror, one of their door inserts is different from the rest. Painted in white, the Model 3 Performance cost the customer a cool S$107,000 which could also get you a BMW 5 series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the States. To match the white paint, the owner decided to spec the car with white interior trimmings. However, to their horror, they realised one of the door panels wasn’t white when they got the keys to their car. To be precise, one of the rear passenger side door insert sported a brown trim instead. Amazingly, no one at Tesla’s factory noticed the error, nor did anyone spotted the mistake at the delivery centre. According to Carscoops, it is not sure if the owner managed to get the issue sorted out but we would be surprised if Tesla refuse to correct the embarrassing mistake...

  20. When the entry-level Model 3's order books opened in April 2016, many Tesla fans went and put deposits for for the all-electric car. However, many have given up since up. With the production issues affecting delivery times, data published by Second Measure asserts that as of the end of April, 23 percent of all Model 3 deposits in the United States had been recalled. For those who are wondering what Second Measure is, it is an analytic tool that takes credit card transactions and analyses them so investors can see where consumers are voting with their dollars before a company’s quarterly earnings come out. As reported by Carscoops, the data also revealed that 18 percent of all Model 3 refunds happened in April, the same month when Elon Musk said the sedan would be delayed between six to nine months. In response to the articles posted online,Tesla claims that the figures published by Second Measure are not in line with its own figures. However, he chose not to mention how many orders had been cancelled.

  24. Another alarming and sad news. Greed is "eating" into the human flesh. 18-year-old model sells her virginity to Hong Kong businessman for $3.47 million What have Dracula, Nadia Comaneci and an infamous nubile lass wanting to sell her virginity for millions have in common? The answer: They are all from Romania. After making it known to the world last year that she would be putting up her virginity for auction, aspiring model Alexandra Khefren, 18, placed her country back in the spotlight. The country of medieval castles and forests was particularly known for two world-famous icons for decades: the legendary blood-sucking Dracula who terrified movie-goers all over the world and gymnast Comaneci who became an international sporting celebrity after making history with perfect scores at the 1976 Olympics. Khefren, who became an online celebrity following her audacious move, created more buzz late last year when she found an early bidder who was willing to take her for $1.4 million. That's an already obscene sum of money for a sexual transaction but it wasn't enough for her. Finally, she got an offer she simply could not refuse. Last Friday (March 30), she slammed the gavel: It's sold to an unnamed but "friendly" Hong Kong businessman who will blow $3.47 million for the 'honour' of deflowering her. Khefren made her announcement on Cinderella Escorts website, a Germany-based agency that sells virginity of teenage girls online. She had said she got the idea to sell off her virginity when she saw the Hollywood movie Indecent Proposal which sees Robert Redford paying US $1 million to have sex with Demi Moore. Her parents were reportedly outraged, but Khefren was adamant about going ahead with her plan as she wanted to give them a good life, buy a house and also get a good education for herself. Despite criticisms reported in the media, she remained unflinching. She would rather benefit from the sale of her chastity than give it to a "future friend" who might leave her anyway, she said. The other person who will profit from it is the agency owner, 26-year-old Jan Zakobielski, who had told the media that he was enjoying a lucrative business. Zakobielski, who will take 20 per cent, told The Daily Mail in December: "No-one makes these young women do anything they don't want to do. They have their own minds and their own opinions on sexuality." http://www.asiaone.com/asia/18-year-old-model-sells-her-virginity-hong-kong-businessman-347-million
  25. Automotive News has reported the Tesla Model S has outsold traditional luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW in their home turf last year. This is the first time in Europe and for some years now, the Model S has been outselling Mercedes-Benz's S-Class and BMW's 7-Series in America. With 30 percent more sales in Europe this year, 16,132 Model Ss were put on the road in 2017. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz sold 13,359 S-Classes for the same year, an increase of 3 percent. BMW sold 11,735 7-Series models, a 13 percent decrease as compared to 2016. In the States, Tesla sold 28,800 units of the Model S while Mercedes-Benz only sold 15,888 units of its S-Class last year.
