  1. The next Lexus CT is likely to be offered as a pure EV, as well as hybrid, when it arrives in 2020. Lexus is planning a radical successor to its CT hatch – and the newcomer could be offered as a pure-electric Tesla Model 3 rival, as well as a petrol hybrid. The existing CT Hybrid is still being sold in several countries, where its hybrid-only powertrains have given it an extended lease of life. But the forthcoming arrival of the new UX small crossover had been expected to sideline the five-door hatch. Lexus’s European boss Pascal Ruch has said that a CT successor is on the way, and the brand is looking to offer “something different” to counter the Mercedes A-Class and BMW 1 Series.. Lexus may decide to shake up the CT’s design, too. The car will have to rival both the A-Class and GLA – and we understand a number of proposals are under consideration, including a hatch and a crossover that mixes SUV cues with a less upright stance. The CT is likely to arrive in 2020 as a sister model to the Auris, sharing that car’s TNGA platform. And while no pure EVs have been introduced on that architecture, it’s understood to be compatible with the brand’s goal of offering “more than 10 battery-electric models” by the early 2020s.
  2. There is rumours saying that this model will get the 2.0 turbo 6-speed petrol engine having 260-274hp....and for big family, its a 7 seater will be the best suitable 7pax carrier that is powerful enough to make your drive more fun and also save more $$$ than getting a conti SUV...by introducing the Hyundai new turbo engine into our shore, it definitely can increase its sales just like VW is doing...hope its not just a dream for Hyundai fans
  3. The upcoming Tesla Model Y has been teased in a single image this week, offering a first glimpse of the company’s latest all-electric SUV. During the firm’s 2017 Annual Shareholder Meeting, the above teaser was shown, with CEO Elon Musk reportedly saying Tesla has decided to build the electric crossover on a new platform, rather than on the architecture that will underpin the Model 3. According to Electrek, Musk said the Model Y is scheduled to go into production in “late-2019 to 2020”, indicating the new medium SUV is at least two or three years away. The teaser image doesn’t give away much, though we can see that this version of the Model Y doesn’t have exterior mirrors – though it’s unclear what it will need to offer instead to meet design and safety regulations. If market trends are any indication, the Model Y will likely become even more popular than the Model 3 (above) – which has been projected to be the brand’s volume seller when it launches globally in the next 12-18 months – while the crossover’s battery architecture will do away with the current 12V standard in order to phase out lead-acid batteries. The move would also reduce the amount of wiring required, and simplify the production process – allowing for a different and more automated manufacturing line – with a new factory planned to accommodate the production of the new car, though ‘Gigafactory 1‘ will likely produce the Model Y’s battery packs. Tesla is hard at work with its product onslaught, with its electric semi-truck set to debut in September, while an electric ute is planned for reveal within the next “18 to 24 months“.
  4. It is not often we see a Tesla lose in a drag race. So when Jaguar released a video of its I-Pace going against the Model X in a drag race, we were surprised. Shot in Mexico and with the help of racing drivers, Mitch Evans and Tony Kanaan, Jaguar organised a 0-96-0km/h race between its I-Pace and the Tesla Model X 75D. With all-wheel drive, 395bhp and 695Nm of torque from its two electric motors, the latest Jag is able to do the century sprint in 4.8 seconds. Are these numbers good enough to fend of the Tesla? Watch the video and find out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fErFiWjoeCQ
  5. Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, has confirmed that he will be launching an all-electric pickup truck after the Model Y. For those who are curious what the Model Y is, it is basically a crossover that will be a smaller alternative to the Model X SUV. At the global premiere of the new Tesla Semi and Tesla Roadster last month, the electric vehicle company released a sketch of how the pick up truck will look like and interestingly, it is large enough to fit a full-size pickup in its cargo area. Sources online suggested that it is unlikely to be that large and will just be slightly larger than the Ford Ranger. Musk said on Twitter that he has been thinking about the pickup for almost five years and is 'dying to build it.'
  6. 38-year-old Walter Wong was killed when the Tesla Model X he was in crashed into a concrete divider on U.S. Highway 101. Involving two other cars, the crash happened earlier in the week and Tesla has since confirmed that Autopilot was enabled at the time of the crash. According to Reuters, Tesla reported that autopilot was engaged with the adaptive cruise control follow-distance set to minimum and in the last few seconds leading up to the fatal impact, many visual and audible hands-on warning instructed the driver to put their hands back on the steering wheel. Tesla also added that 'the driver had about five seconds and 150 meters of unobstructed view of the concrete divider, but the vehicle logs show that no action was taken'.
  7. As above. Looking to buy for a birthday present. Is there any speciality shop that sells them?
  8. Automotive business intelligence firm Jato Dynamics has reported that the Volkswagen Golf is set to be 2017's best-selling car model in Europe. Facelifted recently, the golf was the leader by a significant margin with 445,206 units sold in the first 11 months of the year. Second place goes to the Renault Clio with 298,000 units while third goes to Volkswagen's Polo with 255,370 units. Also in the report, SUVs now make up 31.9 percent of the overall market, an increase from the 27.6 percent recorded during the same period last year. Sales of these type of cars increased by 21.6 percent as compared to last year. Leading the race for best-selling model is Nissan's Qashqai with 230,860 units. It is fifth in the overall listing. Even though the numbers were tabulated till November, it is likely that Volkswagen will remain the best-selling brand for 2017 in Europe. It has since sold 1,567,748 units while Renault and Ford sold 1,040,268 and 977,322 units respectively. The below is the list of Europe's best-selling models. 1. Volkswagen Golf - 445,206 units 2. Renault Clio - 298,990 units 3. Volkswagen Polo - 255,370 units 4. Ford Fiesta - 237,770 units 5. Nissan Qashqai - 230,860 units 6. Peugeot 208 - 225,198 units 7. Opel Corsa - 221,497 units 8. Volkswagen Tiguan - 218,238 units 9. Skoda Octavia - 214,329 units 10. Opel Astra - 204,742 units
  9. The electric GT racing series has finally gotten the approval from FIA for its all-Tesla racing series after it was initially announced two years ago. According to The Verge, the racing series could start as soon as this year and will see heavily worked-on Tesla P100D sedans with around 778bhp racing around in well-known circuits. However, exact locations, drivers, and championship schedule have not yet been decided. With the race-ready Model S sedans recently passing official crash tests, more teams should be signing up soon. Only one team has reportedly signed on at the moment. Rumors have been spreading online that the race weekend will consist of three-heat qualifying rounds and two 60km long races. It is also rumored that the series will have accompanying series in the form of electric kart championships and drifting competitions.
  10. Hi guys I notice something In the overseas forums like USA U.K. And EU a lot of them boast about their super cars and their high life But when I throw a fun challenge ( just for the sake of fun) to them to buy a similar model in Singapore they turn quiet and try to change topic. I mean if they are brave to take up the challenge they should try buying the same luxury model and accept the challenge Eg Bentley bentayaga forums
  11. Well-respected motor journalist Chris Harris takes the Tesla Model S P100D for a spin finally. Watch the review and see what he has to say. As one of the most hyped cars on the net with countless videos of it winning drag races against supercars, Harris will give us his thoughts on whether the car is just a one-trick pony or the future of automobiles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=778&v=mHhZ9jk-DrU
  12. Hi Can someone advise what is the K&N drop-in model for 2017 1.6 Honda Civic (petrol)? Can seems to find the filter form K&N official website which only has the 1.6l diesel. Thank you
  13. For those of us that aren't convinced about an electric vehicle's reliability, here is proof that they can be just as problem free as any conventional combustion engine car. According to Finnish publication, Helsingin Sanomat, taxi driver Ari Nyyssösestä has driven his Tesla Model S for more than 400,000km in the past three years and has encountered no major issues with the car. However, Nyyssösestä did admit that he had the car's battery replaced once. In the article, a local professor then commented that it is no surprised that the Model S is reliable as high-quality electric motors are known to last long. “As a matter of fact, the durability of electric motors is quite different from internal combustion engines in known cases. In [the electric vehicle) industry, electric motors typically rotate at least 100,000 hours. In that time, the car should reach up to 10 million km” Juha Pyrhönen said.
  14. Despite not offering a diesel option for the compact crossover, the good-looking CH-R is now Toyota Europe's third best-selling model with 80 percent of the buyers choosing the hybrid model over the petrol-only model. According to AutoNews, which interviewed Matthew Harrison, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota Motors Europe said that the company will comfortably sell more than 100,000 units by the end of this year. "We have more than two months’ worth of order bank, in terms of consumers waiting. We are having to reallocate supply in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or unnecessary waiting times", he added. The company which has since sold 31,888 units during the first quarter of the year, beats Renault's Kadjar (29,474 units) and Seat's Ateca (21,707 units) but misses out slightly on Ford's Kuga (40,033 units) and Peugeot's 3008 (37,163 units). Nissan's Qashqai which is the segment's best-seller, is still well ahead with 75,114 units over the same period. Meanwhile, demand for the CH-R via parallel importers in Singapore remains weaker than expected as high prices and the looming VES situation deter would be buyers.
  15. We aren't sure if Tesla is trying too hard to be revolutionary - Tesla Model 3's wiper speed can only be adjusted from its infotainment system. As seen on Carscoops, the article says that while there is a tradition stalk mounted on the steering column for turning the windscreen wipers on and off, the only way to change their speed is by going into a submenu in the infotainment system. While we thought it was fine for the electric car maker to house the other vehicle settings like the air-conditioning and seat adjustments in its touchscreen infotainment system, it is slightly puzzling to leave the wiper speed settings in there too. https://youtu.be/gN-aJ1aO9uU
  16. It appears that an all-new electric McLaren is set to be part of McLaren’s Ultimate Series in a few year's time and it will be no slower than the 675LT. As reported by Autocar, the unnamed all-electric hypercar is rumored to arrive after the P15 hypercar later this year and 2018’s sold-out, three seater BP23. The car has been rumored to exist since June 2016 but was thought to be developed for use purely as a testbed for the future. Meanwhile, the it is said that next-generation Sports Series model will arrive in 2020 as a hybrid and be joined by a hybrid Super Series in 2021.
  17. According to Digital Trends, Elon Musk’s electric saloon is the king of the luxury sedan segment in America by managing to beat both the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the third quarter of the year in terms of sales. While BMW sold 3,634 units of the 7 Series and Mercedes sold 3,138 units of the S-Class, Tesla managed to sell 9,156 units of its Model S. Tesla then went on to point out that "Our Q3 delivery count should be viewed as slightly conservative, as we only count a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all paperwork is correct,” Worldwide sales of the Model S during that period amounted to 15,800 cars, while the Model X SUV, also posted an impressive Q3 result, with 8,700 cars sold. Three years after Tesla started, production has increased five times to 100,000 units. And with the upcoming entry-level Model 3 hitting the market soon, Tesla's future looks promising.
  18. Elon Musk has confirmed on Twitter that the first 12 months of the Tesla Model 3 production is sold out. This comes after an article written by Fortune Magazine reported that new Model 3 reservations won't arrive until mid-2018 at the earliest. Till date, there has been no official date on when production will commence but it is expected to see first units of the entry-level electric model to reach customer's hands in the second half of 2017. The car has proven to be very popular, with reservations now estimated to exceed the 400,000 unit mark. When the car goes on sale, it is promised to be able to hit 0-100km/h in under 6 seconds and will have a range of 346km.
  19. Tesla has revealed its new range-topping Model S. Called the Model S P100D, it is the quickest-accelerating current production car you can buy. How fast? 0-96km/h in 2.5 seconds when Ludicrous mode is activated. That's pretty much the 1479bhp Bugatti Chiron's sprint timing if you didn't realise. That awesome timing is achievable all thanks to a new upgraded 100kWh battery pack which also enables the driving range to increase from the older P90D's 430km to 507km if estimated using US's EPA cycle. Interestingly, it is also Tesla's first model to go beyond the 300-mile mark (480km) and the longest-range production electric vehicle on the market. Current owners of the P90D Ludicrous versions can upgrade to the 100kWh pack for an extra S$27,000 which includes the cost of having their old battery packs recycled.
  20. saw a Chevrolet taxi today, more and more different model!
  21. As reported by Bloomberg, more than a hundred Tesla Model S owners in Norway are suing the brand as they feel their cars aren't fast enough. According to these 126 owners of the Model S P85D, they discovered that their cars are only delivering 469bhp instead of the claimed 691bhp and they want to be reimbursed. A lawyer representing the owners said that the car "has too low horsepower...And of course, it affects the car’s performance, according to the consumers.” Tesla has since rejected the claims, saying that the vehicle meets requirements “according to the measurement method required by the authorities”. Interestingly, the P85D has been reported to not make as much power as claimed nearly a year ago as Tesla advertised the power ratings simply by combining the individual power outputs of the two electric motors. This is said to be not an accurate gauge as factors like the level of charge could affect the figures.
  22. borneo has not officially launch as trying to clear old stock but is available for sale. understand luxury model going at 177k after all the discount. super luxury +14k (main difference of this coming 2008 model comes with selectable suspension like those found on ls460 plus some safety managment program). but seem rather steep at 177k ....
  23. Tesla's gigantic curved windshield in the Model X has received lots of complains from buyers as it causes flare and even double vision at night due to its size. As cool as it looks, the feature has been blamed for offering little or no protection against sunlight even though the special side pillar-mounted sun visors that double as vanity mirrors. To sort the problem out, Tesla offered to customers a free, removable sunshade which claims to be able to block two thirds of light and heat coming through the front upper windshield, and it’s constructed out of a lightweight fabric with a collapsible rigid frame. We thought it looks pretty unsightly and not exactly the easiest to install and uninstall frequently. When the Model X was launched, Tesla claimed that the gigantic curved windshield is the largest windshield of any production car, was said to be a nightmare during the Model X’s development.
  24. Saw these on the road a few days ago....
  25. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/south-korea-bans-sales-of-some-nissan-bmw-and-porsche-models/3408636.html SEOUL: South Korea has banned the sale of 10 models of Nissan, BMW and Porsche vehicles after the carmakers were found to have fabricated certification documents, in the latest fallout from the Volkswagen emissions scandal. The government announced in August that it would ban all 10 models after conducting an investigation into whether foreign carmakers besides Volkswagen AG falsified documents on emissions and noise-level tests. Nine of the models have been banned since last month and Nissan's Qashqai diesel sport utility vehicle has been banned since June, the environment ministry said on Monday. It said it has also fined the carmakers' local units a combined 7.17 billion won (US$5.9 million) for the affected 4,523 vehicles already sold in South Korea. Spokespersons at the South Korean units of Nissan Motor Co Ltd and BMW AG acknowledged the findings in the government investigation, saying they would try to achieve certification for those affected models again. A spokesperson at Porsche AG, which is owned by Volkswagen, was not immediately available for comment. South Korea has been tough with Volkswagen, filing complaints against local executives, suspending sales of most of its models and imposing fines for alleged forging of documents on emissions or noise-level tests. In the latest move, South Korea said last month that it will file criminal complaints against five former and current executives at Volkswagen AG's South Korean unit and fine the company a record 37.3 billion won for false advertising on vehicle emissions. South Korea's sales of imported cars fell 7 percent in the first 11 months of last year, heading for their first annual sales decline since 2009.
