  1. Wowee S Class Coupe choot liao! This is the most beautiful fullsize coupe in my opinion Masculine, strong yet sleek and stylish Any fellas here chiong already? Sibei swee.....
  2. I admit I like my cars in sedan form (yes, I know, the typical favourite Singaporean old-school body form), loud but not necessarily very fast. Think about something along the lines of, for example, a late 2000 Honda Accord Euro R. But if I could have my cake and eat it, what very fast sedan would I have? This question popped into my head when I was shooting and of course, driving the new Mercedes-Benz C 63 S AMG. On the topic of driving, like most AMGs, the engine is the centerpiece. While many will miss the immediacy of the previous naturally-aspirated M156 6.2-litre V8, I can't say the new M178 4.0-litre V8 Bi-turbo is any worse. Acceleration is readily available anywhere in the rev range. But if you want to feel the full force of all its 500 horses, you will want to rev it all out. And boy it is one creamy smooth engine too. Like all AMGs, they need to bellow. This one is no different and will not disappoint at all... Want to wake up the whole estate? Easy. Just press the loud button! Feeling racy and want to put the car in full attack mode? Just toggle it into RACE mode. Even in RACE mode, you can still play around with the individual settings for the engine response, damping, gearbox, exhaust noise level and traction control level. When I drove it, I kept it in Manual mode all the time so that I can hear more pops and bangs from the exhaust as I go up and down the gears. Speed shifts are as fast as you need. What about the steering? Not bad. It is fast and direct enough but overall I felt the BMW M3 had a slightly more alert wheel. Both have about the same amount of feedback coming through the steering column. With so much go, the Benz definitely need some really strong brakes. Fortunately, they are really strong with 390mm brake discs in front. Space wise, it is no different from a regular C-Class. Front passengers get superb seats that hold you tight in the turns. Little details like the IWC clock and red rear seat belts remind you that you are in something special. So, at the end of the day, would I have this over the BMW M3 I hear some of you ask. Hmmm... tough one, but I just might...
  3. Which car would you choose considering both are priced approximately the same, although the XF is a class bigger than C Class. The XF OMV is ~50k, while C Class is ~33k, but XF is 6 years old model, C Class (W205) is new C Class is a good car, however, the high profit margin imposed by the dealer makes it a less attractive option. Anyone can provide opinion on Jaguar vs Mercedes reliability and maintenance cost?
  4. Beware, if you are thinking of flying with Qatar Airways. They have Boeing 787 Dreamliners (I think 30). The Economy class seats are incredibly cramped. We flew to London with Qatar and on 2 of the 4 legs, we had the Boeing 787. The flights Singapore to Doha QR 945, departing SIN at 0230 - Boeing 787-800 Doha to London Heathrow QR 011 departing DOH at 0550 - Airbus A340 (45 minute layover at Doha) For the return London Heathrow to Doha, QR 002 - departing LHR at 2130 - Boeing 787-800 Doha to Singapore, QR 938 - departing at DOH at 0700 - Airbus A350 (very new plane!) I made some flight review videos, if you are interested to see the cabin. Singapore to Doha https://youtu.be/HEAy1KHMVtw London to Doha https://youtu.be/_bkNZfvfFf4 On a more positive note, the rest of the experience was good. The new Airbus A350 and the older Airbus A340 product was good too. So, it is just this Boeing 787 product. Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Singapore to Doha This is the flight review video - https://youtu.be/HEAy1KHMVtw This was the very first leg, Singapore to Doha. The flight would depart SIN at 0230. By that time, we were all very sleepy. A picture of the departures that early morning. Fortunately, Changi Airport had some loungers where we could snooze a bit. The loungers were very popular though. That area of the airport was very quiet and you could look at some plants and even a small water feature. Boarding was smooth and departure was slightly early, which was good because our connection at Doha was 45 minutes and we were wondering whether we could make the connection. The flight from Singapore to Doha would take about 7 hours. Now, I begin my rant. They call the Boeing 787 the Dreamliner, but it is certainly no dream sitting in the Economy class. Why? The seats are awfully cramped and the legroom is crazily tight. Even my kids felt a bit squashed and they are small in size. The Boeing 787 in Economy is in a 3-3-3 configuration. I went into lots of detail about this point in my flight review video. But here are some pictures to illustrate my point. This picture shows you the legroom available and the infamous IFE box, which takes up some space. The remaining space in front of my can barely take my backpack, which is by no means big. This picture shows you my legs in that small space. Another picture showing you the cramped seat and legroom. I guess for a short flight, say 2-3 hours, it is still ok. But for a red-eye, it is a completely different proposition. Do watch my video as I show you more of the cramped seating and I also take a walk around the cabin and you can see for yourselves the seating situation. To be fair to Qatar, other than the cramped seats on the B787 (which you can appreciate is a big deal given that we spend 99% of our time in the seat during a flight), all other aspects of the flight was very good, if not excellent. International crew was attentive and very pleasant. Service was prompt. The IFE system was very modern. Shortly after takeoff, we were served with a sandwich snack. These were warm sandwiches as well as a nice piece of warm cake. They were delicious. You could have a full bar service with your sandwich, that was nice. Thereafter they turned off the cabin lights so that we could get some sleep. 2 hours before landing, they served a full meal (breakfast). We landed early, which was a relief. To my surprise, we didn't have an aerobridge. We had to be take an airport bus to the terminal. However, while on the bus, I noticed that there were many empty aero-bridges. Strange. Were they deliberately creating work for the buses? I don't know. Here is a picture taken while boarding the airport bus at Doha Airport. The ground crew were unloading luggage, especially those that required rapid transfer. Anyway, do watch my review video if you want to see more, including the cabin, the food and even the bus ride from the plane to the terminal at Doha. Qatar Airways Boeing 787 London to Doha, Flight QR2. This was the flight back to Singapore, via Doha, on our way home. We had a good holiday in London. Now, it was time to go home. Departure was from London Heathrow Terminal 4. I spent quite some time at the Observation Deck and made a number of videos, see this link - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/u-k-ireland/1686930-viewheathrow-london-heathrow-terminal-4-a.html This is the flight review video. https://youtu.be/_bkNZfvfFf4 Gate 22 was the Boarding Gate. It was a short walk from the main terminal. Read this sign. Some planes parked at Terminal 4. We would be walking over to the other side for Gates 22-25. That would be our ride to Doha. Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner, A7-BCK. Spotted this plane coming in. Air One. Airbus A320. I checked wikipedia which reported that this company has ceased operations in 30 Oct 2014. So this plane is now operated by Alitalia? Boarding was quick and smooth and we got to our seats quickly. Now, in my last report, I had already made a big deal about the cramped seat. That left me thinking, what else can I do to illustrate to readers just how narrow the seat is? An idea struck me, let's do a selfie. Check out this photo of me. I am seated upright, leaning back against the seat fully, with shoulders touching the seat. Look where my shoulders fall and look where my arms are, in this relaxed position. I am by no means a big guy. To be more specific, I am about 5"9 and weigh around 160 pounds. And that's how cramped the seat is for somebody like me. See also the video, where I did a video version of the selfie, just to make the point clear to all interested viewers. Alright, it would take 6.5 hours to Doha. In the air. The main meal was served and I chose the beef. It was pretty good. The meal came with this small piece of chocolate, which was very good. Fortunately for me, the load on this leg was light enough such that the seat in between me and the other chap on the other aisle seat was empty. Phew! Much more comfortable. At least I managed to catch some sleep. Woke up about 2 hours before landing. This was the breakfast snack, which was pretty good. All the snacks we had on Qatar were good. We were put in a holding position before landing and that got me a bit anxious since our connection was only 45 minutes. Anyway, I figured the next plane would wait for us (I hope!). I took this photo to show you a comfortable leg position. Obviously, such a position is not possible if the middle seat is taken. This would be the typical position for my legs if the middle seat were taken. You can see that it would NOT be comfortable at all, especially if you are trying to sleep! Despite the holding pattern over Doha, I think we still landed on schedule. Again, we had to be bussed to the terminal. Oh well, at least I had an empty seat beside me for this London to Doha leg. That made the flight very much more comfortable.

  6. The 2015 Mercedes S-Class coupe has been spied with lesser camouflage. The model will be the successor to the CL-Class. The name change makes it the first two-door S-Class since the W140 generation of the 1990s. The ultra-luxury coupe will not be just an S-Class with two doors removed but features its own unique styling with a lower front fascia and a sloped roof top. The S-class coupe will share its rear-wheel-drive architecture with the next-generation S-class sedan, which means substantial weight savings as well as optional all-wheel drive. All lightings will be equipped with LEDs. Motivation for the new S-Class coupe will likely be the twin-turbocharged V8 and V12 engines for both the regular and the high-powered AMG models. The 2015 S-Class coupe might go on sale in late 2014. There will also be an S-class convertible variant that will share the coupe's mechanicals and styling. The Bentley Continental GT and Rolls-Royce Wraith are the S-Class coupe's main competitors. Photo Credit: carscoop.blogspot.com
  7. One of my friend passed his driving two years ago and now wanted to take some refresher course. He found out that Volkswagen did provide a Class 3A Driving Refresher Course. May I ask MCF members anyone has experience with this centre and how good is the training from the Instructor? To learn from Driving Centre needs to be a member first but Volkswagen centre do not need.
  8. With a new Land Rover Defender due in 2017 (the current one bows out of the market next year), Mercedes-Benz will reportedly introduce a major update to its G-Class around the same time in order to keep the rivalry between the ultimate utilities alive. While the new Defender will be an all-new model, complete with new styling, engines and underpinnings, the G-Class is only expected to receive an update, though the changes to the vehicle are said to be so extensive they could be considered a complete redesign. The information was revealed by insiders to Drive, which reports that engineers are focused on improving the G-Class’s stability, both on and off the road. Expect to see a wider track, made necessary by wider wheels and new suspension designed to boost interior space. Increased aluminum and high-strength steel will also be utilized to help shed weight, possibly reducing the current model’s 5,665-lb curb weight by as much as 440 pounds. Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force off-road concept The updated G-Class will also benefit from Mercedes-Benz’s latest tech, including electronic power steering, new driver assistance features and the latest in connectivity and infotainment. Interestingly, we hear that 2012’s Ener-G-Force concept car will influence some of the vehicle’s exterior styling, although the classic boxy look should remain. As for the powertrains, look for the German automaker’s new straight-six gasoline and diesel units. These will displace 3.0 liters and deliver up to 360 horsepower in some guises thanks to turbocharging and direct fuel injection. Of course, more powerful AMG variants will still be on offer, as they currently account for more than 50 percent of G-Class sales worldwide.
  9. Newbie here. Would like to ask where or which workshop has good body kit for A-Class.
  10. A beautiful looking car. Anyone know when this will be able at C&C? Prices? http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/passengercars/home/new_cars/models/s-class/c217.flash.html
  11. If you operate in a position where you are likely to be shot at most violently - say, high-ranking government official, corporate bigwig, or a hated under-aged Canadian pop sensation - then please meet the Mercedes S600 ‘Guard'. Essentially, it's a bullet- and bomb-proof Mercedes - literally bomb-proof - that will prevent your body from developing nasty, painful holes. It's based on the latest generation of Mercedes S-Class, with a rather delightful 6.0-litre V12 engine up front developing an even more lovely 525bhp and 612lb ft of torque. And it's no lightweight: though Merc won't reveal the exact weight gain of the armored S over the 2.2-tonne standard car, it's safe to say all that extra security padding has added a few points. This car's top speed is 209km/h, 40km/h shy of the limited S600. But, of course, there is a lot of security on board. The body-shell has protective steel integrated between the structure and outer skin, there's ‘splinter' protection, and thick glass coated with polycarbonate on the inside. Then there's armor covering the entire under-body for the first time, providing extensive protection against explosives. All in, this new S600 Guard has been certified for the highest level of ballistic protection, which is VR9. VR9, if you're wondering, means armor designed to resist rifle-fire from military weapons, a velocity twice that of handgun bullets, and resistance to splinters from hand grenades and explosive charges. The S600's suspension has been beefed up to handle the increased weight, too; the air springs at the front have been reinforced, while additional steel springs are used on the rear axle. The dampers are active, of course, and Mercedes has fitted larger brakes than the standard S-Class. The 'Guard' also uses run-flat tyres with a monitoring system, allowing you to drive up to a distance of 30 kilometers with damaged tyres, under fire. It's still an S-Class inside, too, so all the usual interior appointments apply. No word on price, but we imagine if you are in a position where you actually need one, you're likely also in a position where you can afford one.
  12. Damn funny that Pornsak.. Tomorrow.. Babarella more lagi funny.. Pls listen..
  13. Am looking at the new E Class E250, C&C as usual is priced way higher than the PIs. Now that C&C is no longer the exclusive for Mercedes, I'm tempted to go via the PI route. Those that are offering this car are Kruise Auto, First Automobile and Citiprime Credit. All cars come with 5 years warranty at Comfort Delgro. Does anyone have any experience with these PIs? Am curious to know. I've been loyal to C&C for the last 3 E Class models but I figure it might be a good time for a change.
  14. hi all, im doing a research on youngsters these days prefer to get a class 3 or class 3a licence? thank u
  15. In awe by this Soviet-era behemoth then probably due to both the book and film The Hunt For Red October but now if you invite me FOC from flight to lodging for a visit I would definitely say thanks but no thanks and give it a miss. Really impressed with these brave visitors but not sure if they brought with them a Geiger Counter each... Note the rusting interior and really how on earth a once formidable ballistic sub could end up in such a sorry state... In any case the days of these underwater giants are probably over and now the Russkies must be racking their brains how to "de-nuclearise" the reactors of these SSBNs. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._submarine.html Posted on 10 Apr 2012 Step into the world's biggest nuclear submarine The Typhoon class submarine is the largest submarine in the world, measuring 170 metres long and 23 metres wide. STOMPer Zoolander, who has shared these photos with us, said: "Submarines have always fascinated me, not just by their sheer size, but by the fact that these massive vessels can stay underwater for months. "The Typhoon class submarine can carry 20 ballistic nuclear missiles. Only six of these vessels were built. Get on board one of them by clicking on the pictures in the gallery below.
  16. Mugen has already come out with parts for Honda's recently launched S660 roadster. While the new mid-engine rear-wheel driven kei-car is pretty sharp in standard form, Mugen's new styling kit for it makes it even more dynamic. Some of the new parts include front under spoiler, front aero fender, side skirt, rear aero fender, rear diffuser and a variable carbon rear wing. Highlights that we thought would change the look of the car more include the front sports grill and the glossy hard top. Performance-wise, a more free-flowing exhaust will be made available. On the handling front, new wheels which are staggered in size (15-inch in front and 16-inch at the rear) will be released. Other parts include a sportier suspension system, silted brake rotor and better brake pads. One cool part which I would personally get would be the carbon interior mirror cover for pure aesthetic reason. As a refresher, this is how the 63bhp S660 looks like in standard form.
  17. How to go about in getting the license? I got class 3 license for 8 years already... do i have to join one of the bus companies as a trainee bus driver to get the license? then can drive private coach?
  18. Man uses first-class ticket to get free meals for almost a year The Star/Asia News Network | Fri, Jan 24 2014 A man bought a first-class ticket and used it to have free meals and drinks at the airport's VIP lounge almost every day for nearly a year, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported. The itinerary for the ticket was found to have been changed more than 300 times within a year, and the owner of the ticket used it to enjoy the facilities at the airport's VIP lounge in Xi'an in Shaanxi, China. The rare case was discovered by a China Eastern Airlines staff member, who then decided to investigate. When the ticket's validity was almost up, the passenger cancelled it for a refund. An airlines spokesman said there were no means to stop this act, even if it was done on purpose. However, many netizens lauded the passenger for being smart, rather than condemning him. (source: http://www.relax.com.sg/article/news/man-uses-first-class-ticket-to-get-free-meals-for-almost-a-year) Gota give this man a Tiger! Best part was he even went ahead to cancel the ticket for a refund at the end of the its validity. Not sure if we can emulate him here TGIF bros.
  19. Daimler is celebrating the recent Smart unveiling by slamming the new ForTwo head-on into a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Both the diminutive city car and the full-size luxury sedan are brought up to 50 km/h and aligned for a 50-percent front overlap, demonstrating the integrity of the ForTwo's 'Tridion' safety cell as the car strikes another vehicle weighing more than twice as much. "The new Smart ForTwo meets high safety standards, some of which far exceed legal requirements," the company boasts. "As the smaller and lighter vehicle in the collision ... the smart offers its two passengers an intact occupant space and excellent chances of survival." The ForTwo's steel cage helped the previous generation achieve surprisingly good ratings in official crash tests. A rear-engine layout allows the front end to be optimized as a crumple zone, without worrying about the three-cylinder mill pushing back into the cabin. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety cautions that, despite the previous-generation ForTwo's good rating in single-vehicle accidents, the city car offered poor protection in a frontal collision with a midsize car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v708z67ALww "In a collision involving two vehicles that differ in size and weight, the people in the smaller, lighter vehicle will be at a disadvantage," the IIHS wrote in 2009 after testing the ForTwo, Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. "The death rate in 1-3-year-old minicars in multiple-vehicle crashes during 2007 was almost twice as high as the rate in very large cars." Notably, Daimler's promotional video shows the moment of impact but not the aftermath. Smaller vehicles in such scenarios typically are pushed backward by the heavier vehicle, subjecting occupants to additional force. The new ForTwo and its larger counterpart, the ForFour, will likely be assessed in another round of IIHS crashworthiness tests, including the challenging small-overlap test that was added in 2012.
  20. This is the newly revised Hyundai i20. It has 5 doors, 4 wheels, a steering wheel and is affordable. It won't be sold over here due to the fact that small cars aren't actually a worthwhile purchase due to the high COE prices. So it is actually pointless to talk about an affordable little subcompact that has recently been facelifted and features new fuel saving diesel and petrol engines. So lets talk about a not so affordable hatchback that would be sold here eventually- the new Mercedes Benz A-class. The car does not look like the previous Mercedes Benz A-class, instead of the MPV-like stance of the old car, the A-class is now a proper hatchback. It looks good too and it will be pitted directly against its rivals from BMW and Audi, the 1 series and A3 respectively. From the factor of styling alone I believe Mercedes Benz has nailed it. It looks so much better balanced than the BMW 1series and is even more avant garde than the clinical looking A3. The Mercedes Benz A-class is actually very un-Mercedes Benz-like in styling. The curves are very fashion forward and feature lines are very distinctive on the sides. It is styled to capture the youngish crowd and it works extremely well. I predict that the new A-class should bring in sales from people who never even considered a Mercedes Benz before. The front wheel drive A-class will have 4 cylinder engines from both Renault (via a JV arrangement kind of thing) and Mercedes itself. The petrol units will use a combination of turbocharging and direct-injection. The base 1.6-litre petrol engine will come from Renault. It will deliver 113bhp in the A180. Further up the line-up is the widely used Mercedes M270 engine. The Mercedes 1.6liter engine comes in two different states of tune -154bhp in the A200 and 208bhp in the A250. The A250 will be the one that pits the A-class against VW's Golf GTI. Expect right hand drive versions of the Mercedes Benz A-class to go on sale in early 2013. Also expect an AMG version that would give headaches to Audi RS3 and BMW M135i owners. The AMG A-class will be equipped with all-wheel drive and an AMG tuned Mercedes Benz 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that is already rumoured to hammer out 350bhp. When that happens, who would have thought that a Mercedes Benz would be the hot hatch that motorheads would dream of having.
  21. 15th May 2013 was the world premiere of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Mercedes unveiled its new luxury sedan at the Airbus A380 Delivery Centre located in Hamburg, Germany. However, what attracts me besides the debut of the luxury German sedan itself is the odds that the German automaker is set to launch the coupe version soon. On its official Facebook page, Mercedes Germany has released a sketch of its new model. To me, the sketch looks like the 2014 S-Class coupe, well, although Mercedes-Benz didn't necessarily mention the term 'coupe', and the new model seems kind of wider than the previous generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe. Furthermore, it's known that the 2014 S-Class will also come in a convertible and coupe version. In addition to that, no matter how I look at it, the styling cues portrayed in the sketch don't seem to match those of the actual sedan being launched at the home country of Mercedes-Benz today. So, in short, I think it's safe to say that we should be getting ready to behold the launch of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe which will seemingly take place in the near future. Otherwise, I don't think the German automaker will be revealing the design of its new model in such detail.
  22. The Mercedes S-Class' sales in Europe has fallen victim to the on-going economic crisis in the continent. Its sales have fallen by 27% over the past eight months to just 5,227 units. In addition, the age of the model does not help either. As a result, the factory that produces the S-Class in Sindelfingen, Germany, will cut down to one shift from the current two shifts until the next generation model enters production in 2013. "Workers manufacturing the S class will be reassigned to the C-class assembly line during this period," the company said in a statement. The W221 S-Class was introduced in the autumn of 2005 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, with export to other markets beginning in 2006. Since then, BMW and Audi have both introduced all-new versions of their flagship sedan, the 7-Series and the A8 respectively. The S-Class contributes the highest profit margin per car sold for the Stuttgart automaker and hence the pressure is on the 2013 model to continue to do so. The new Mercedes S-Class is expected to be unveiled in production form at the 2013 Detroit motor show in January, before it goes on sale next spring. The new luxury saloon was recently previewed by a new sculpture called Aesthetic S at the 2012 Paris motor show. Aesthetic S
  23. In less than a week, the world will witness the debut of the all new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. But right now, photos of its 1:18 scale die-cast model has surfaced on the Internet, courtesy of a photo gallery in an online French forum dedicated to miniature models. The photos revealed that the new model, codenamed W222, is clearly an evolution of the current model. Perhaps Mercedes-Benz is trying to play it safe with the styling of its top tier sedan so as not to 'shock' its current customer base. Some interesting styling features include a large front grille inspired by the F700 Concept car and LED head lights and taillights. Along with the sedan, the S-Class will spawn a coupe and convertible as well as an extended wheelbase S 600 Pullman trim that will fill the Maybach void. The latest S-Class represents Mercedes-Benz' ninth generation flagship sedan, and the sixth to be officially called the S-Class. Like the current S500, the new S-Class will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 and the S600 will pack a twin-turbo V12. The S 63 and S 65 AMG, diesel, hybrid and smaller powertrains will be introduced at a later date.
