  1. TL;DR – We see seven vehicles involved In yet another massive chain collision on the PIE. Footage of the aftermath shows a Harrier resting on top of a Prius. The first half of the day saw many news reports and posts about this accident that happened along lane 1 of the PIE. How the Harrier ended on top of the Prius is definitely a huge question mark for everyone. Hopefully, someone will post the footage of the actual accident soon and I’ll update the article. Injuries and arrests It’s reported that five people were injured, two of which were sent to the hospital while the other three declined to go to the hospital. Additionally, a 38-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink driving (Source: The Straits Times) Online Chatter I think you drive anywhere also there’s always a chance of an accident occurring. Always keep a safe distance from the car in front of you and look out for idiot drivers. This person might have a point somewhere. I would like to know as well. blueSG, care to comment? Holding the title of the largest automaker in the world requires constant progress. Every day we are getting breaking news about the possible Toyota MR2 successor. One day it’s a small four-cylinder turbo and the next day it’s a hybrid. Yet, respected Japanese publication Best Car, states it will be an EV. A possible collaboration with Mazda also may be in the pipeline. From what we know, it may be a 500-horsepower, 4WD sports car around the size of the GR Supra. Development has already begun for this projected model. If everything goes according to plan, we should see them stateside by 2026. WORD FROM INSIDERS - THE MR2 IS HAPPENING An inside source at Toyota states that they are in development of their next-gen EV sports car. Toyota revived the fire of enthusiasts with the GR Supra. Can they do the same without the help of a combustion engine? Japanese manufacturers Nissan and Honda have also begun to push into the sports EV market. Does Toyota feel the pressure? In December of 2021, they held an event for future EV models. Amongst them was a variety of sports cars. Yet, there are few details about the concepts presented at that event. A Toyota source says the intention of making an EV sports car is real, however, so there is some legitimacy to the concepts. GAME-CHANGING BATTERIES? One of the most difficult aspects of making an EV sports car appealing is performance of the battery. Current lithium-ion options have seen many optimizations. Yet, they still can’t be seen as the true replacement to combustion engines. To solve this issue, Toyota has teamed up with Panasonic to develop new battery tech. Known as "solid-state" batteries, they are more efficient in every aspect. Cruising range is twice that of an equal lithium-ion with the same capacity. Charging times should be half that of current technology along with less deterioration. This will be a game-changing tech and Toyota plans to have it in production by 2026. This lines up exactly with their timeline of their next-gen sports EV. Toyota is the company that first introduced electrification at a production level. They have over 1,000 patents related to hybrid and battery tech. The first prototype of the solid-state battery could be as early as Q4 2022. FASTER AND MORE CAPABLE THAN WE IMAGINED This emerging tech is still very expensive and unfit for mass production right now. This is why their first venture with the tech will be in a niche market, such as sport EVs. Yet, the power capabilities are well beyond what we expected out of a possible MR2 successor. The first generation MR2 struggled to make even 100 wheel horsepower. According to the Toyota source, the new battery and motor combo will have a power output of 500 horsepower. Can you imagine that? Even more impressive is that the system will be 4WD with dual front and rear motors. Yet, don’t expect the mini proportions we know of the Toyota MR2. Instead, the car will be the body size of the current GR Supra. It is even possible that this technology will lead to a solid-state battery GR Supra first. Mazda has also hinted at a collaboration with Toyota in the sport EV space. Yet, their offering will be a crazy rotary-powered EV. The rotary-engine will serve only for power generation for the battery. We have never seen any powertrain in a sports car do that before, so it will be revolutionary. As technology continues to develop, we will see exciting changes in the sports EV market.

  4. TL;DR - Shame shame as this cheapo Toyota Hiace evades parking fee by tailgating after alighting passengers at Parklane. To be specific, a couple of well-endowed chio-bus’. This Hiace driver in the video seems like a pretty experienced tailgater. Watch this 84-second video clip to see what i mean. What happened? The incident took place at Parklane shopping mall’s car park where the Hiace tried to follow closely (and succeeded) to tailgate the car in front of him, just to avoid paying for parking. The video footag shows that the driver had just dropped a group of skimpily dressed ‘chio-bus’ (not that we can tell from the footage but I’d think so) off, where netizens are assuming they are working at one of the bars/KTV there. Online Chatter Undoubtedly, there has been an increased occurrence of payment evasion offences, with most being committed by tailgating. Is it worth committing an offence just to save a few bucks? Hmm. Cautionary Reminder A motorist who fails to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and as a result is involved in an accident, may be charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care or Reasonable Consideration. What happened A Toyota Altis travelling on lane 1 of the CTE/SLE (towards Woodlands) came to a halt as its bonnet got flipped up! Some possible theories? 1. As the caption of the post suggested. The Altis driver did not secure the bonnet properly before driving off 2. The Altis driver was travelling at an insane speed, and the wind caught blew the bonnet up 3.   7. Been a late comer to the EV era, I think this show hand / all-in moment is Toyota way of playing catch up (heh look here, I have everything ready ok!)... But the fact remain that they are quite far behind other big names from Europe, Korea and China. During the media briefing on battery EV strategies, Akio Toyoda shocked the automotive world by unveiling 15 fully electric concepts previewing future models of Toyota and Lexus. What must be the largest rollout of concept cars in history includes everything you can imagine, from city cars, sedans, SUVs of all shapes and sizes to pickups and sportscars. Some of them are based on existing models, but there are also several all-new vehicles based on the EV-dedicated e-TNGA architecture. The “showroom of the future” as Akio Toyoda called it, had a bunch of other EVs hiding behind the curtain. The lineup for the Lexus brand includes its first dedicated EV called the RZ which is the production version of the LF-Z Electrified concept. Then there is a sports battery EV that looks like the spiritual successor of the LF-A with an expected cruising range of over 700 km (435 miles) thanks to solid-state batteries, and an expected 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in the low 2-second range. Additionally, we saw full-size prototypes of a large SUV (Lexus Electrified SUV) and an unnamed Lexus-branded sporty sedan. The latter also appeared in hatchback form in the official renderings, alongside a 2+2 cabriolet featuring similar styling. Last but not least, Akio Toyoda showed us another series of models calling them “the diverse Toyota EVs”. These include commercial vehicles like an autonomous shuttle bus, a compact van designed for both business and leisure, and a versatile urban EV. The Compact Cruiser EV incorporates styling features from the FJ Cruiser in what could become an off-road-focused five-door EV. Next to it, there is Toyota’s first electric dual-cab pickup which appears to be similar to the Hilux or the Tacoma in terms of dimensions but gets modern design features inspired by the larger Tundra. The Small SU EV looks like an electric CH-R with a dynamic styling approach, while the Crossover EV is slightly larger and more subtle in terms of exterior design, likely previewing Toyota’s entry into the C-SUV segment. Finally, there is an EV sportscar with mid-engined proportions and a two-seater cabin which could become the future MR2 serving as Toyota’s treat for petrolheads. T.B.C.

The current Toyota Harrier may still be fairly new to the Malaysian market (unless you count the myriad of grey imports that existed before UMW Toyota Motor’s offering), but the truth is third-generation SUV has been around since 2013 and in need of a replacement. Well, it looks like the forth-gen model is coming soon, and a promotional video has just surfaced on social media. It shows a car that draws much of its profile a fair bit of inspiration from the outgoing model, but with a couple of touches of its own. The characteristic blanked-off upper grille and slim headlights remain, but the latter now sport new LED daytime running lights with dual branches, much like the latest Avalon sedan. The lower grille is also much larger, reaching towards the upper grille and only separated by a full-width chrome strip. Along the side, the shoulder line sweeps upwards between the strong front and rear haunches, while the D-pillars have been made slightly narrower. But it’s the rear that’s the biggest departure – the full-width tail lights have been reduced to slits which, together with what appears to be a reverse-rake tail, gives the car more than a hint of the Jaguar F-Pace0 about it. According to Japanese automotive portal Best Car, the new Harrier, set to make its debut on June 17, will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that underpins most of Toyota’s latest models – specifically the K variant (GA-K) that the Camry, RAV4 and aforementioned Avalon are also based on. It will reportedly be significantly larger than before, in part to accommodate an optional third row of seats. New features include an electrochromic sunroof that can be dimmed (eliminating the need for blinds) as well as a dash cam integrated in the rear-view mirror. As for powertrains, expect the Harrier to come with an M20A 2.0 litre direct-injected Dynamic Force engine that makes 172 PS and 203 Nm of torque in the RAV4. There will also likely be a hybrid model that pairs a 2.5 litre version of that engine to a pair of electric motors, delivering a total of 211 PS in the Camry Hybrid. Just purchased my mark x not too long ago... was reading online and realise that mark x beside standard oil change need to change rear axle oil... asked ex owner and he say he nv do that before. he also told me that his spark plug not changed since day 1 as can last 100k. Current milage is 115k. No wonder the car is very sluggish... now i thinking he prolly skip many other required maintenance for mark x... Was wondering any fellow X owner here can enlighten me and the estimation for the cost so that wont kana chop carrot. Thanks!

This features a new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, precision-engineered to reduce friction and mechanical losses and optimise combustion speed. All SUV With the Yaris Cross, Toyota has produced an authentic SUV on a smaller scale, giving customers the higher driving position, practicality and interior spaciousness, they desire in a car with compact dimensions that make it well-suited to urban driving. The design evokes the classic qualities of SUVs, with a higher body and larger wheels/tyres communicating strength and purpose. Toyota Yaris Cross has the same 2,560 mm wheelbase as the new Yaris hatchback, but is 240 mm longer overall, with 60 mm added to the front overhang and 180 mm to the rear, securing more interior space. The ground clearance is 30 mm higher and the vehicle is taller and wider overall - by 90 and 20 mm respectively. Practical and Versatile Being a true SUV, special attention has been given to practicality and versatility. There's a power back door for when your hands are full. And an adjustable deck height to give the flexibility of either a secure underfloor compartment or increased trunk space for larger loads. In addition, the deck board itself can be split in two, giving customers both increased space and an underfloor storage area. The trunk is also equipped with a new flex belt system to secure items and stop them shifting during driving. Yaris Cross is just as spacious as it is practical. With all seats up and tonneau cover in place it delivers a large trunk volume. However, if more load capacity is needed, then there's a 40:20:40 foldable rear seat system to balance rear passenger space with cargo needs. Intelligent all-wheel drive One of the features that defines the new Toyota Yaris Cross as an authentic SUV is the availability of an intelligent all-wheel drive system - a unique feature in its class for a hybrid model. AWD-i provides extra stability and traction in everyday driving, in poor conditions and on low-grip surfaces. An electric system, it is more compact and weighs less than mechanical AWD units, helping the Yaris Cross Hybrid AWD-i achieve lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than any of its all-wheel drive B-SUV competitors. The system directs drive torque to the rear axle when pulling away and when accelerating. In normal driving, the Toyota Yaris Cross operates with front-wheel drive, but when low-grip conditions are detected, all-wheel drive is engaged automatically. This can be, for example, on wet cobblestones, in heavy rain, on wet or packed snow, or on sand. Advanced Driver Assistance System The foundation of the new Yaris Cross's safety performance is its GA-B platform, giving the car an exceptionally rigid body. With the intention of meeting the highest and most rigorous independent test standards, it will further benefit from Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems and advanced driver assistance functions, helping to avoid a wide range of common accident risks through driver information, early warnings and, when necessary, automatic braking and steering intervention. Design The design process of Toyota Yaris Cross brought together a wide team from studios in both Europe and Japan. To describe their ideas and inspiration in more detail, please find below the words of one member of the team - Lance Scott, Design General Manager at Toyota's EDD studio in Nice, France. "When we started this process, we understood that whilst style is the number one purchase reason in the B-SUV segment, customers were also keen to have a high level of practicality. Not easy things to reconcile, especially in a compact package. From the very beginnings of the design concept, we had the European customer in mind, but needed to understand more about them. So we went out and interviewed real customers to understand their lifestyle, what they liked, what their daily activities were and how they enjoyed themselves. After an enjoyable and enlightening process, we came back enthusiastic to design a car that would mirror their personality and deliver a vibrant combination of being both sophisticated and energetic. As a team, we came up with the key words 'Robust' and 'Minimalistic', which we felt would express both compactness and agility, as well as the robustness and strength of an SUV. When we started to sketch ideas for the exterior, the iconic image of a diamond consistently came to mind. Subsequently we coined the phrase 'nimble diamond' to express the hard, strong and premium image of the gemstone combined with the agile and fun to drive personality we felt the car needed to convey. From the top view, or plan view as we call it, we 'cut', or 'shaved' the body to give us a diamond shape that allowed us the space to emphasise the fenders. This diamond body shape combined with the 4 bold fenders gave us an energetic shape which was both strong and sophisticated. Clearly, we want the car to be immediately perceived as a SUV, so we emphasised a higher ground clearance, a strong horizontal axis giving a great balance and poise, big squared wheel arches and of course big wheels ... up to 18"! The face was also a very important aspect for us. We wanted to keep the strong DNA of Toyota's SUV line-up but at the same time give Yaris Cross an identity of its own. At the rear, we again focused on giving the car a good stance with the wide fenders illustrating how it looks planted on its wheels. Combining the horizontal rear tail lamps and rear screen clearly shows family identity with Yaris, yet the wider and more squared tailgate hints at the luggage space's larger flexibility for daily usage. For the exterior colour, we started to think about something that could express an active and high-quality image that our target customers would really appreciate. Looking at future colour trends we can see that there is a growing tendency for gold and other precious metals, but we wanted to offer something a bit more natural and urban. Adding a subtle hint of green to the gold direction, whilst also de-saturating the colour to emphasis the metal like appearance, gave us this fresh urban yet active appeal that highlighted the surface form of the exterior. The final result is a colour we call Brass Gold" Toyota expects to produce more than 150,000 Yaris Cross a year at the TMMF Onnaing factory, near Valenciennes in France, and achieve a B-SUV segment share of more than 8%.

It was our 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan that made me love these boxes on wheels. For our family of six, the Caravan was a huge upgrade from the Chevrolet Celebrity wagon we traded in – rear-seat climate controls, elbow room, and a built-in booster seat pour moi? I was in love. Today’s customer isn’t so easily swayed, and the minivan’s styling – some dare to call these magnificent creatures uncool – is its greatest liability in the fight against three-row crossovers, as well as a perceived lack of rough-road capability. Toyota is here to change that with the 2022 Sienna Woodland Edition. Based on the popular XLE trim level, the Woodland has standard all-wheel drive, 0.6 inches of added ground clearance, and a few cosmetic touches to turn the efficient, spacious hybrid minivan into a would-be crossover rival. Those willing to embrace the minivan life are going to love it. The Toyota Sienna, redesigned for the 2021 model year, is one of the more exuberantly styled vans on the road today. Although it doesn’t avoid the short-hood, long-windshield pitfall that seems to drive consumers away from vans, the Sienna compensates with squinty headlights bookending the corporate jellybean logo. The large, trapezoidal grille on the bumper is undeniably bold, and Toyota designers get extra credit for hiding the fact that most of it is blocked off. The Woodland’s dark chrome exterior accents, trim-exclusive Cement paint color, and standard roof rails attracted at least one admiring glance from the neighbors. The Sienna looks like it was shaped by the wind, with crisp rocker panel contours that rise dramatically toward the angular D-pillar. Stylists reportedly took inspiration from Japan’s Shinkansen bullet trains for the new minivan, and if you squint, you can sorta see it in the high, sloping hood and swept bodyside contours. Things start to fall apart on the rear end, which compensates for the rest of the Sienna’s smooth styling with an overabundance of angles, edges, and slashes. I do appreciate the black plastic rear bumper and cargo sill, which helps the Sienna look a bit tougher, as well as adds some scratch-resistant loading practicality. Inside, the Sienna Woodland Edition gets standard black SofTex faux leather upholstery, jazzed up a bit with bronze stitching and an attractive geometric pattern embossed into the surface. Otherwise, it’s your basic XLE fare here, with a high center console with a huge storage cubby beneath it, a few decorative splashes of striated aluminum-look trim, and a swoopy dashboard housing analog gauges and a 9.0-inch touchscreen display. Crossover converts will love the console shifter and tall seating position, and the Sienna is a pretty nice place to spend a long drive (as long as you don’t have to interact with the dated infotainment system much). Materials up front and in the second row are nice enough without sacrificing spill- and dirt-friendly ruggedness, while the third row is decidedly more plasticky. That’s par for most non-luxury three-row vehicles, though. Minivans live and die by their passenger-hauling capability, and unfortunately, the Sienna comes up a bit short. Both the front and second-row bucket seats are comfortable and supportive, and the latter pair slides fore and aft to provide a bit more legroom for folks in the way-back. Even so, third-row passengers will lament the tight shoulder room and claustrophobia-inducing windows. The Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica do much better on that last front, with larger apertures that let some light in. Cargo capacity suffers as well, especially if you need to haul longer items. Seats-up space is respectable at 33.5 cubic feet, but with the third row folded (and not all that flat, mind you), the Sienna only offers 75.2 units, down at least 11.4 over the next-worst minivan rival. Maximum luggage room is worse still. At 101.0 cubic feet with the third row folded and the second row scootched forward – it’s not removable, and it doesn’t fold flat – the Sienna comes up more than 39 cubes short. The Woodland Edition comes with some features to appease folks who are willing to haul their cargo outside the van. A roof rack with crossbars and a tow hitch rated for the Sienna’s 3,500-pound towing capacity are both standard. Even so, the Sienna offers more interior room than any crossover. In fact, its below-class-average cargo area with the third row folded is still bigger than that of the Chevrolet Tahoe. And space is but one aspect of the Sienna’s decent comfort score. A pleasant freeway ride, four cosseting bucket seats, and limited wind and road noise helped the Toyota hybrid feel downright posh on a long trip. I also liked the hybrid system’s silent, smooth EV operation, and the van is capable of some decent speed without firing up the engine. Push the accelerator too far, though, and the engine and CVT are prone to persistent high-RPM drone. Oh dear. I’ve become a bit spoiled. You see, my two most recent Toyota products before the Sienna were the Tundra pickup and the Lexus NX crossover, both of which sport the automaker’s newest infotainment package displayed on a big 14.3-inch touchscreen. By comparison, the Sienna’s old software looks and feels very dated, with laggy touch response and graphics that haven’t been stylish since the Bush administration. And compared to its chief rivals, the Sienna’s tech suite still comes up short. The Kia Carnival SX, for example, boasts the automaker’s excellent software displayed on a 12.3-inch screen, and the Chrysler Pacifica Touring L’s 10.1-inch display gets standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – neither of which are available on the Sienna. Toyota’s 4.2-inch gauge display is likewise unimpressive, but at least the twin analog gauges are crisp and easy to read. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of its grainy rear camera – thank goodness for standard front and rear radar sensors. Kiddos in the back seat might be happier with the Sienna than the adults up front. My Woodland tester came with the $1,415 rear-seat entertainment system, which puts an 11.3-inch, 1080p display on the roof over the second row and an HDMI input in the second-row console. But again, the Pacifica one-ups the Sienna with available Amazon Fire TV apps and a pair of rear-seat displays. With 245 horsepower combined between its Atkinson-cycle 2.5-liter inline-four and pair of electric motors – one per axle – the Sienna is actually the least powerful minivan on the market. That shouldn’t dissuade consumers though, as it feels pretty spry in normal traffic. Its front and rear electric motors put out a healthy 199 and 89 pound-feet respectively, so the Toyota hybrid has more than enough juice to keep up with traffic when the light turns green. And although Toyota doesn’t quote combined a torque rating between the pair of electric motors and the gas engine, I would be surprised if the number weren’t close to 300 lb-ft. Unfortunately given its anti-SUV positioning, the Woodland Edition doesn’t seem to add much in the way of rough-road capability. In spite of the lifted suspension, the Sienna still only has 6.9 inches of ground clearance, and a long front overhang means the van will scrape its schnoz on parking lot entrance ramps, much less off-road obstacles. Maybe the aftermarket can step in and help, as there seems to be a fair amount of space in the wheel arches for larger tires than the P235/60R18 rubber found on the Woodland – a size shared with lesser Siennas. Sporty driving isn’t really in the Sienna’s wheelhouse, and the added ride height of the Woodland Edition doesn’t inspire confidence either. But the hybrid is stable and surefooted in just about any traffic situation, and the floor-mounted battery lowers the center of gravity to help the van keep an even keel on cloverleaf interchanges and winding roads. Regenerative braking is still a bugaboo that Toyota’s engineers haven’t quite mastered, as evidenced by the Sienna’s touchy, non-linear left pedal, but slam the pedal down and the van comes to a quick, stable halt. The Toyota Sienna earns top marks in the government’s crash and collision-avoidance testing, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety agrees. Every Sienna comes standard with full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure prevention, lane tracing, and blind spot monitoring, to which the Woodland Edition adds parking sensors with automatic braking. The so-called Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of technologies worked admirably during my week with the minivan. The Sienna kept its lane position well and responded to the flow of traffic smoothly, and its audible and tactile alerts were just intrusive enough to keep the driver engaged without being annoying. The 2022 Toyota Sienna’s single greatest trump card over its minivan competition – really, any three-row vehicle – is fuel economy. Swilling a steady diet of electrons and regular unleaded, the Sienna Woodland Edition is rated at the same 35 miles per gallon city, 36 highway, and 36 combined as any other all-wheel-drive Toyota van. Get front-wheel drive and the numbers rise to 36 across the board. The next-best competitor is the plug-in, front-drive-only Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which achieves 30 mpg combined, although if you can charge it overnight, the Pacifica has a range of 32 electric miles. If you need all-wheel drive, you’re stuck with the gas-only Chrysler Pacifica, which hits 20 mpg combined. The Sienna’s front-drive competition is slightly better, at 22 mpg combined for both the Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. I think Toyota could put a nail in its competitors’ efficiency coffins by giving us a Sienna Prime. Borrowing the plug-in RAV4’s powertrain would give the minivan some EV-only range and more than 300 horsepower. Alas, such a vehicle doesn’t exist – yet. Starting at $34,710 plus $1,215 destination, the Toyota Sienna family is a reasonably priced entry in the minivan class, undercutting the Chrysler Pacifica by a couple grand and costing a few hundred bucks more than the Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. Six months of driving would recoup that added cost in fuel savings alone. The Sienna Woodland Edition is a bit dearer, though. Starting at $46,545 with destination, my tester’s final price was $48,325 thanks to the rear seat entertainment system, an extra set of wireless headphones, and illuminated door sills. Were it my money, I’d skip the extra kit and stick to the base Woodland Edition – tablets and phones are cheaper and easier to use than the Sienna’s entertainment system, and the door sills are a needless bauble. Those who have no pretensions of off-road enthusiasm might be better served by the $44,235 Sienna XSE AWD, whose sharp wheels, sporty body styling, and bigger variety of colors might be appealing. But while it’s no crossover – and for me, that’s a good thing – the Woodland Edition seems to be a sweet spot in the Sienna lineup thanks to its standard roof rails and trailer hitch and added ride height. It’s a darn good van, which in my mind makes it a far better family car than any SUV out there.

This brings up two thoughts: 1) that CUVs have been around much longer than the current sales craze indicates, and 2) how are there only four generations of RAV4 in 24 years? Well, the first-generation slogged through a 16-year cycle, but as consumer demands increased, vehicle life cycles decreased in retrospect. Which brings us to today’s world debut of the all-new 2019 RAV4. And the grandfather of the crossover segment is looking younger than ever: less cute ‘ute and more brute youth. Finally fashionable At first glance, the only indication that the new RAV4 is indeed a Toyota is its ever-familiar oval emblem. Outside of that, the crossover evokes brawn and strength—words that generally describe true body-on-frame trucks and SUVs rather than car-based, unibody crossovers. But the 2019 RAV4 is full of bold character lines, chiseled features, and a grille that looks just as annoyed to be sitting in traffic as you are. Even its fenders, which now feature squared-off black plastic cladding instead of body-colored metal look (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) appropriate and attractive. The new RAV4 will drop a trim (Platinum) but details for the full lineup are sparse. However, an XSE Hybrid model is all-new and with it comes standard two-tone exterior paint. A black roof is paired with shades of gray, white, silver, and a new blue to give the hybrid a distinctive exterior style but in an atypical hybrid way (i.e., not frumpy looking). Adventure grade models also receive the new double-color scheme but with a white roofline similar to smaller sibling CH-R. This is available only on black, blue, and a new of-the-land greenish hue called Lunar Rock. For 2019, with the Platinum trim gone, the Limited is left as the sole heir to RAV4 luxury. This top-of-the-line model is outfitted with 19-inch wheels and chrome accents to further distinguish its premium-ness. Tech and touchpoints Of course, the Limited receives more than just flashy alloys and shiny bits. Standard features include a power moonroof, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a newly-designed 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a rearview mirror camera, which is a North American-first for Toyota. Similar to what is available on General Motors’ premium brands, Toyota’s Digital Display Rear Mirror looks and acts like a conventional rearview mirror but toggle a switch and it will also display a high-definition, wide-angle view of what’s behind the vehicle. The Limited doesn’t hoard all the fancy gear, though, as all 2019 RAV4 models will be equipped with Entune 3.0, which includes Verizon-powered Wi-Fi connectivity, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and Apple CarPlay integration. Available Entune upgrades include Plus for a larger 8-inch touchscreen and satellite radio or Premium, which adds navigation. Also available will be up to five USB ports, wireless device charging, and an all-new 11-speaker JBL sound system. Increased performance capabilities The 2019 RAV4 will be powered by two engines: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder paired with an 8-speed automatic, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder second-generation Toyota Hybrid System II engine mated to a CVT. Horsepower and fuel economy figures are not yet available but the automaker says consumers can expect improved, even best-in-class, numbers with the new model. Driving dynamics are said to have improved as well, particularly with the XSE Hybrid, which Toyota claims is the best-handling of the RAV4 lineup. The new hybrid features a sport-tuned suspension along with improved shock absorbers and springs. There also are three all-wheel-drive systems for the 2019 RAV4. Entry-level models can be optioned with the carryover AWD system, hybrids are available with AWD-i, and a new-to-Toyota dynamic torque vectoring AWD, which will be standard on Limited gasoline models and Adventure grade RAV4s. Featuring a rear driveline disconnect, the new torque-vectoring AWD system can send 50 percent of the engine torque to the rear wheels as well as distribute it to the left or right to improve handling. Additionally, when equipped with AWD, Adventure models are outfitted with Multi-Terrain Select as standard. The new system offers four driver-selectable traction modes (snow, mud, sand, and rocks) that can be adjusted on the fly. But performance isn’t the only priority in the new RAV4. For 2019, the lineup will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, the automaker’s second generation of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies. Watch the video for yourself below Footage was caught of a white Toyota Altis breaking traffic rules by refusing to stop at the stop line and heading straight at a junction when the only options were to turn left or right. He managed to get his penance when he was collided into by another blue car….hard. Debris fell out from the impact onto the open road. Hope both parties got out of this incident safely, though from the video it does seem like just the vehicle was damaged. Next time it might be best to remember that stop lines and traffic rules are there for a reason, hopefully, the Altis driver can learn his lesson from this.   22. A cam car instigates a feud with a Toyota Camry driver by flashing his high beam at his car. The Toyota Camry retaliates by tailgating, horning and flashing his high beam at the cam car. Watch the video for yourself below: The cam car had initially claimed that the Toyota Camry driver had cut him off without signalling at 0:01 of the video. Though from the screenshot, it seemed like there was ample safe distance between the Camry and the cam car. However, the only issue was that the Camry failed to signal before switching lanes. Moments later, the cam car flashes its high beam repeatedly, provoking the Camry driver. (At 0:07, with the audio turned on, the cam car's repeated flashing felt more like an abuse of the vehicle's high beam to me) In Singapore, the high beam is often used as a sign of displeasure at another driver’s poor road etiquette, such as the Camry driver’s failure to signal when changing lanes. The actions of the cam car enraged the Camry driver, and he started tailgating the cam car and also honked him for a good 20 seconds or so. Subsequently, the cam car performs several abrupt brake checks to indicate his displeasure, causing the Camry driver to also jam his brakes, further provoking him. Finally, the cam car driver came to a stop and got out of his car to give the Camry driver an earful while using his phone to record his confrontation as evidence. Likewise, the Camry driver also used his mobile device to record the cam car driver. Somehow, I find it strange that the Camry driver tailed the cam car all this way, only to remain in his car when the cam car driver got out of his car to confront him. Auto giant's supplier hit by ransomware; factories due to restart Wednesday NAGOYA -- Toyota Motor on Tuesday halted operations at all of its plants in Japan after a major supplier was hit by a cyberattack, disrupting the automaker's parts supply management system. The company is suspending 28 lines at 14 plants. Subsidiaries Hino Motors and Daihatsu Motor will also halt operations at some plants in Japan on Tuesday. The announcement that operations would be halted came on Monday, confirming an earlier Nikkei report. Toyota later announced that operations across Japan will resume on Wednesday. "We apologize to our relevant suppliers and customers for any inconvenience this may cause," Toyota said. The cyberattack hit Kojima Industries, which supplies plastic parts to Toyota. Kojima announced on Tuesday morning that it has received a message demanding ransom and that it has confirmed the existence of a virus. On Monday, an official close to Kojima Industries told Nikkei: "It is true that we have been hit by some kind of cyberattack. We are still confirming the damage and we are hurrying to respond, with the top priority of resuming Toyota's production system as soon as possible." The company said on Monday it was still investigating the origin of the cyberattack, the specific malware involved and the damage caused. "Toyota representatives and cybersecurity experts are at Kojima Industries to determine the cause and how to restore" the system, a source familiar with the situation said. Many of the roughly 400 tier 1 suppliers that Toyota deals with directly are connected to the automaker's kanban just-in-time production control system, which allowed the problems at Kojima Industries to spill over to Toyota. The automaker halted production to prevent longer-term damage, and prioritized inspection and recovery of the system. Hino will suspend all operations at its Koga facility, which manufactures large and midsize trucks for export and domestic sale, and its Hamura plant, which makes small trucks and handles production for Toyota. The automaker has yet to determine whether work will resume Wednesday. The Toyota shutdown includes a Daihatsu plant in Kyoto Prefecture. The halt is expected to reduce output by a few hundred vehicles. "We are aware of media reports" on the incident, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters Monday night. "The government is working to confirm the situation." Law enforcement is also looking into the matter.

Just then, a motorcyclist gradually filtered from lane 1 to lane 2 before lane-splitting between lanes 2 and 3. He continues riding for a distance while lane splitting between lanes 2 and 3 with his left signal indicator still on. Out of the blue, the motorcyclist started veering left and ploughed into the side of a Toyota Wish before losing his balance and falling on the road. At this point, the Toyota driver realised what had happened and performed a selfless act by swerving his car to the left to avoid running over the collapsed motorcyclist. Subsequently, the Toyota driver fully mounts the kerb before crashing head-first into a tree. The collapsed motorcyclist would have had his head run over if not for the Toyota driver's swift reflexes. Kudos to the Toyota driver for his quick thinking and excellent reflexes!
