The Toyota driver (The person filming) went to deliver some goods and came back to a 'boxy' situation where he found his car boxed into a corner. A Lexus ES250 doubled parked and blocked the cam car, preventing him from driving off. The Toyota driver proceeded to call the number displayed on the Lexus' dashboard but to no avail. Moments later, the Lexus driver returned to his car, and this was where turmoil started to brew. The Verbal Exchange To cut matters short, here is the geist of their verbal exchange in English: The argument stopped when a passerby intervened and proceeded to calm the Lexus driver down while guiding him to his car. After looking at the Google Maps screenshot, you will realise that the area where both cars are parked is not meant for parking. How fast can can a Toyota Estima go? Any brother here driving one. I was going home on SLE last night and i saw a Estima going definately more than 150Km per hour. I was going at 130 ++ and the Estima just zoom pass me and pull away so quickly even though i was already clocking 130 ++. Sweat > I mean a MPV to go at such high speed is a bit hiong right? Some would say that he got instant car-ma for disregarding the rules. In a short clip posted on New Year’s Day, an elderly cyclist boldly crosses a traffic junction when the light is still red. The cyclist then gets a nasty surprise when a white Toyota Corolla crashes into his bicycle. Hopefully, the uncle learns his lesson and will heed the traffic rules from now on. Who is at fault if a driver hits a jaywalking pedestrian? According to the Road Traffic Rules, if a pedestrian crosses any place other than a pedestrian crossing, they shall yield the right of way to vehicles. The same applies to mobility vehicle users, PMD riders and cyclists. However, at any controlled crossing, pedestrians have the precedence to free and uninterrupted passage over the crossing by drivers of vehicles approaching the crossing. It should be noted that this only applies when pedestrians are crossing in the same direction as moving traffic. Pedestrians shall not travel in any other direction unless they can do so without interfering with the lawful movement of traffic. Even though the driver has the right of way, personal injury lawyers have noted that the driver may still be held liable for any bodily injury claim from the pedestrian. Breaking news: A silver Toyota Wish suddenly went up in flames in Yishun, producing a large cloud of smoke and a constant racket of noise. Earlier this afternoon, pedestrians and passers-by uploaded several videos of a silver Toyota Wish burning in the middle of the road. As the flames swallowed the vehicle's insides, its horn started to produce a loud and constant noise. This garnered the attention of more individuals, who then called for the police and the SCDF. In one of the videos, police officers could be seen directing traffic at the junction. Luckily, the SCDF firefighters arrived quickly at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire within a matter of seconds. Kudos to the SCDF for acting quickly! Possible causes of car fires The first possible cause of a fire like this could be a fuel system leak. Leaks are the most common cause of vehicle fires and are dangerous as they can arise independently with minimal warning. Fuel leaking onto hot metal and plastic parts cause a fast-spreading fire, which is why drivers must ensure that their vehicles are appropriately maintained to reduce the chances of a fuel system fire. The next possible cause of a car fire could be an electrical system failure starting from fault conditions between the battery and starter cables or a high voltage that can generate a spark in the spark-ignition engine. The charging cycles of a car battery can cause explosive hydrogen gas to build up, and the electrical current from the battery can produce sparks that would ignite a fluid drip or leaked vapours. An unnoticed frayed wire could cause havoc as electrical wiring runs throughout the entire car. Dump truck fails to keep in lane and causes a Toyota Corolla to crash

A dump (or dumb) truck travelling on the expressway veers off its lane and ends up clipping a black Toyota Corolla, causing it to lose control and crash. This incident occurred last Friday (Aug 13). In the video, we see a huge yellow truck travelling on the SLE expressway while a black Toyota Corolla is travelling on the left of the truck. As both vehicles enter a bend, the dump truck veers out of its lane to keep left, only for it to end up hitting the side of the Black Corolla. It appears that the Corolla might have been in the truck driver's blind spot, which would explain the heavy vehicle's sudden movement to the left despite the car's presence. The car then swerves to the left, hitting the road barrier, before swerving back onto its own lane. Upon impact with the Toyota Corolla, the truck kept to its right as it follows the black vehicle to a clear spot ahead. Netizens' reactions While most drivers know that it is dangerous to linger or slow down when you're driving in someone's blind spot, the black Toyota Corolla could not speed up due to the lorries in front of it (and the fact that it is entering a bend as well). Toyota is partnering with Panasonic to put solid-state batteries into limited production in 2025, but don't expect them on your Toyota vehicle that soon. For one thing, the automaker still needs to solve the problem that plagues solid-state batteries: a short life span. Toyota has chosen to focus on hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles as the cornerstones of its green strategy, but that doesn't mean the automaker is forgoing an electric vehicle altogether. In addition to an EV crossover coming from the automaker and its partner Subaru in the near future and a lineup of six EVs (some of which are pictured above), which are likely to land in China first, Toyota is currently working on a technological breakthrough that will reach far beyond its use in an EV: the solid-state battery. Solid-state batteries charge quicker, last longer, and have a greater energy density. That means that a vehicle outfitted with one can go farther than it could with an equal-energy lithium-ion battery pack. Toyota was to show a working prototype of its solid-state battery at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. That, of course, has been rescheduled to 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, but Toyota still wanted to share how far it has come in building its own battery pack. Speaking with Automotive News, Keiji Kaita, executive vice president of Toyota's powertrain company, said the company has a working prototype. However, because of safety and durability issues, it has yet to harness the true potential of a solid-state battery. One of the biggest issues with solid-state batteries is their short life span: they tend to fail after repeated charging. "To counter limitations, we're looking at how we might adjust the anode or other materials. We are trying to reduce disadvantages that are found," Kaita told Automotive News. The automaker, along with its partner, Panasonic, is focusing on a sulfur-based electrolyte that is said to allow for a more efficient ion transfer between the electrodes. Still, Toyota needs to figure out how to create an electrolyte that won't become deformed by simply charging and discharging the battery, leading to pack failure. Samsung is working on the same issue, but instead of replacing the electrolyte, it's replacing the lithium anodes with a silver-carbon composite to reduce the destruction of the electrolyte while the battery is being charged. Kaita notes that Toyota's breakthrough in this area might come from new materials or a new design. So sulfur might not end up being the solution Toyota is looking for in the long run. On the manufacturing end, Kaita said that because the cells need to be produced in an ultra-dry environment, the automaker is currently producing the cells in compact booths. Workers reach in to work on the cells through sealed rubber gloves. That doesn’t lend itself to large-scale manufacturing. Still, Toyota says that limited manufacturing is on track for 2025. These batteries will be expensive, but if the automaker and Panasonic can figure out how to mass-produce solid-state batteries for its hybrids and future EVs, it'll be a huge jump for all battery-powered electronics, let alone electric vehicles.

The new TNGA-based sedan is bigger and more refined than before. UPDATE: Four videos added below. The first two require no Japanese language ability to understand, but the other two are predominantly in the language. After launching its absolute flagship for Japan, the Century, Toyota is now introducing the more mainstream Crown luxury sedan, which was previewed by a namesake concept last year. The automaker describes the 15th generation of the model as the first-generation connected car because it comes as standard equipped with a data communication module (DCM). Based on Toyota’s new TNGA platform, the vehicle has been tested on the Nurburgring and should deliver “outstanding handling,” “responsive driving performance,” and “exceptional vehicle stability” in a wide range of driving conditions. The new model is slightly longer than its predecessor, which was launched in 2012 - 193 inches (4,190 millimeters) versus 192 inches (4,885 mm), with a bit longer wheelbase, expanding the rear passenger legroom. The automaker is proud to announce it has modernized the entire cabin which now features higher quality materials and more space for the driver and passengers. The dashboard is dominated by a new dual-screen layout, which combines an eight-inch central screen and another seven-inch display for the climate and audio functions. Toyota also says the TNGA architecture brings significant improvements in terms of cabin quietness, which are achieved thanks to the optimized vehicle body frame structure and optimum arrangement of soundproofing materials. The underpinnings also allow for a lower installation of the engine, which provides a lower center of gravity. Speaking of the engine, Toyota will offer the new Crown with three different powertrains. The only non-hybrid option is a 2.0-liter turbo gas unit with 245 horsepower (180 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque. Two hybrid variants will be available, combining 2.5- and 3.5-liter gas engines respectively with an electric motor and nickel-metal hydride or lithium-ion battery. The smaller powertrain has a peak power of 226 hp (166 kW), while the more powerful one produces 359 hp (264 kW). Order books in Japan will be opened next month with Toyota planning to sell no less than 4,500 units monthly.

In production since 1955 and with a history of no fewer than 15 generations, the Crown is one of Toyota’s oldest nameplates still in production. It’s also widely regarded as the first Japanese car to be sold in North America, launching in the United States as the Toyopet Crown in 1958 or around the same time when Datsun arrived stateside. The current-generation model (codenamed S220) was launched in 2018 and recently went through a minor update bringing a larger infotainment system to unify the previously two individual displays. A worrying report from Japan claims the Crown could become an entirely new vehicle for what would be its sixteenth generation – an SUV. According to the Chunichi Shimbun newspaper, Toyota aims to keep the “Crown” name alive in the future, but switch from the long-running sedan body style to an SUV. The source should be quite credible taking into account the newspaper is mainly published in the Aichi Prefecture where Toyota has its headquarters. The transition from a sedan to an SUV is expected to take place as early as 2022 due to dwindling sedan sales. A year later, Chunichi Shimbun reports the high-riding Crown will allegedly arrive in the United States and China. The newspaper claims it would be based on the Highlander, meaning the TNGA-K platform used locally for the equivalent JDM-spec Kluger and also for the Harrier (Venza in the US), Wildlander (RAV4 / Suzuki Across), and other vehicles.

A van driver was caught with his mind in the clouds and ends up rear-ending a poor cyclist on the road. Did the driver fall asleep at the wheel or something? The video starts with the Toyota Hiace maintaining a good speed at the first lane of the road as the camcar drives past it. However, the vehicle suddenly starts to veer towards the kerb. . . . . . and charges ahead at full-speed, hitting a cyclist who was cycling on the left of the first lane. The video ends with the van coming to a complete stop after hit, with the accident warranting a few concerned looks from motorists passing by. Who is at fault? Although there is an unspoken rivalry between cyclists and drivers, it is important to note that in most accidents, it is not always the cyclist's fault. While there are some cyclists that clearly break the rules while on the road, in this case, the driver was at fault for not noticing the cyclist earlier. TL;DR – A stationary Prius at a set of traffic lights in Woodlands suddenly changes to the right lane. But, because he decided to do something so foolish, cam car caught something interesting. This mofo was using his handphone while driving! Watched the whole video? Naturally, I watched the whole video to see if cam car had done something to ignite the hellfire within the Prius driver. But, there was nothing to support that fact. Hi all, I've done a search in this forum to find out more abt Materia or bB and realised the postings were dated way back to 2007/2008. Can't seem to find any recent postings of this 2 models. Have to apologise if this is deem a repeated post/thread. Am looking to buy a used 2008 Materia and would seriously appreciate if any folks driving such models to share more abt their ride. Things like FC, maintenance, pro & cons abt this model etc. Tried to google also for any car club or forum, but to no avail...... Thanks in advance

Black Toyota fishtails on a right-hand bend along the SLE toward TPE

After exiting a tunnel with a right-hand bend, a black Toyota mysteriously starts skidding along the SLE towards the TPE expressway. From the footage, it appears that the Toyota driver had plans to filter towards the left. However, the driver suddenly steers right, which led to it having a 'Tokyo Drift' moment before crashing into the road barrier. What is a fishtail skid? A fishtail skid - or fishtailing - occurs when the rear tires of a car lose traction on the road, which causes the vehicle to slide. While fishtailing is common on icy and snowy roads, it can occur in heavy rain when the streets flood. Drivers who drive too fast in less than optimal road conditions can experience skidding easily, which is a cause for concern with the past few rainy days. Possible scenarios The caption of the video has no mention of the leading cause of the accident, but there are a few possible scenarios. Firstly, the driver could have been driving faster than usual as he entered the bend. Paired with the wet and slippery road conditions due to the recent rain, this could explain why he was unable to regain control of the vehicle as it skidded. Secondly, the car could have worn-out tires, which makes it difficult to get a good grip on the road's surface. This, paired with the slippery roads and a high-enough speed, would result in the vehicle being thrown off balance as it swerves to the right. Lastly, the driver could have got a shock when he saw the stationary white vehicle appear around the bend. Throughout the entire video, the white vehicle remains on the road shoulder at the exit of the tunnel, which was a little weird. However, after rewatching it a few times, I also noticed a stationary motorcycle a few metres behind the white vehicle inside the tunnel. Could these two vehicles be connected somehow? This, kids, is why they kept telling us in driving school, don't abruptly cut in front of another motorist from the left, because the odds are they won't see you, and should it be a worst case scenario.... When everyone is at the lights, all seems well. The motorcycle on the left is a GrabFood rider, and he rides off straight. It is only after the GrabFood rider goes off a little in the distance, that the Malaysian motorcycle suddenly cuts in front of the Toyota Wish, who seems to not be wanting to turn but instead going straight. Now before you blame the Toyota for "why is he going straight in a turning lane", watch the video. The lane the Toyota is on can be used to turn right or go straight. Now, I am assuming the Toyota did not turn on his right signal, indicating that he didn't want to turn at the junction, he wanted to go straight. But as the light turns green, the Malaysian motorcycle just dandily cuts in from the left and right in front of the Toyota, giving the driver barely any time to react. No matter how hard you slam on your brakes, people, cars don't cut to an immediate stop like they do in cartoons. It's called physics. Now, I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, but I believe the Toyota didn't even realise that the motorcyclist was in front of him until it was too late. But really, the Malaysian motorcyclist should have known better than to cut in front of a car in such a carefree manner. Whether you're in JB or not, I don't think most drivers would expect a motorcycle to sudden appear in front of them and prepare to turn right as one is heading straight. Ultimately, let's just hope that everyone involved in the accident is all right. Rules, people. They exist for a reason. -

Toyota Hiace drives against traffic on Changi Road as cool as a cucumber

Today, we have a Toyota Hiace driver that might have allowed water to seep inside his brain while driving in the rain. He drives against traffic flow along Changi Road towards the city and cuts across three lanes to turn into Siglap Ave. The best part is, he's driving calmly as if he's doing nothing wrong when in actual fact, he's scaring everybody As a driver myself, Singapore roads are extremely easy to navigate. I admit that I've driven against traffic before albeit in a carpark but never on a main road. Anyways, I digress. Here's the video. Where is this place? Gungho right? This is where the incident happend, courtesy of Google Maps. Maybe he made a wrong turn after pumping petrol at ESSO? For the folks here, when driving, please watch out for "unusual vehicle" and don't assume that everyone follows road regulations. Do not hesitate to alert them of their wrongdoings to prevent somebody from getting hurt. -

This led to the pole 'impaling' the car's windshield, resulting in a rather large (and heartbreaking) crack. While the identity of the pole's owner is still unknown, many have speculated that it must have fallen from a unit located on a high level. The definition of 'killer litter' refers to articles or things that are thrown from high-rise buildings that may cause death. According to the Housing Development Board (HDB), if found guilty of killer litter, there's a maximum jail term of 5 years or a fine, or both.
