  1. An Isuzu cement truck beats the red light signal while turning and hits an SBS bus along Aljunied Road on Thursday (June 4). The force of the collision threw the bus driver out of his seat and caused the vehicle to mount the road divider, resulting in a second crash with a stationary Toyota Hiace van. Based on the video, the bus ended up crashing through a fence of a nearby construction site while the cement truck appeared to be damaged from the collision as well. According to this Mothership post, the bus driver and two other passengers have been sent to Raffles Hospital on the same day. The driver has since been discharged and is on hospitalisation leave. Netizens' reactions With an increasing number of heavy vehicle accidents in recent years, it is wiser for drivers to slow down and take more caution while manoeuvring these bulky vehicles.
  2. Just found this to share with all.....if this not the latest news, please forgive me :) http://auto.ndtv.com/news/2017-toyota-corolla-altis-facelift-makes-global-debut-in-russia-1290639
  3. NOT in Singapore though. I will say it is a very darling move, given the differences between RAV4 and the new X-Trail (aka Rogue in USA). Or Nissan might be buying those super rundown unit to make its SUV feel better, which would not be a fair comparison so to speak. But I do see the opportunity that it can be done in Singapore, not Nissan vs Toyota though. The first pair that pop up in my mind was Kia Sorento and Mercedes GLB200 (since so many here are comparing these 2 apple and orange, just because both are "around" the same price point - I see lots of different though). But why Cycle and Carriage should consider doing this? Well since there are a pool of potential buyer looking at both models, allowing the test drive of GLB at Kia showroom and Sorento at C&C showroom might actually be a win-win situation, since buyer would be more likely to walk away choosing one of these 2 models represented by the same AD. Make sense? Nissan Will Be Offering Free Toyota RAV4 Test Drives To Sell More Rogues – Wait, What? Nissan is confident that the 2021 Rogue is far better than the Toyota RAV4, which is why they will be offering free test drives in the rival model to potential customers at its dealers this December. The automaker expects around half of its 1,074 U.S. dealers to embrace this unconventional strategy, which is not without risk, because “a percentage of customers are inevitably going to value the differences between the models differently than expected”, Tyson Jominy, J.D. Power’s Power Information Network VP, said, cited by AutoNews. The news outlet got its hands on a video message sent to dealers by Nissan’s VP of Sales and Regional Operations, Judy Wheeler, who said: “We know that when consumers check out the all-new Rogue side by side with the RAV4, they will be amazed by our standard, advanced technology, premium design… and, most of all, outstanding overall value.” Wheeler told AutoNews that “when you test drive our vehicle versus the major competitors, you’re going to end up purchasing this vehicle because it’s that much better.” Toyota already knows of Nissan’s strategy to use a rented RAV4 to try and sell more Rogues, and they are actually “flattered”. “We are confident their dealers and customers will appreciate the quality, value, versatility and safety features that have made the RAV4 the no.1-selling (compact) SUV in the United States”, said the brand’s chief of sales, Bob Carter. The unorthodox campaign is known internally as ‘Rogue Gone Rogue’ and is part of a four-month advertising push described by Wheeler as “the most robust marketing campaign in Nissan’s history”. The 2021 Nissan Rogue has an MSRP of $25,650. Power is supplied by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, making 181 HP and 245 Nm of torque, mated to a standard CVT and FWD – with AWD being a $1,400 premium on all grades. The 2021 Toyota RAV4, on the other hand, is priced from $26,050, and comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at 203 HP and 249 Nm, paired to an eight-speed transmission, in the base model.
  4. Who says ninjas don't exist? This black Toyota Estima was the victim of a ruthless attack by a sneaky ninja who pounced on him while he was just trying to make a U-turn (rather poorly). BAM! you can see the ninja (van) went straight for the kill while the Estima stopped just inches away from the kerb. After the swift attack, the ninja (van) makes his (not so) quick getaway... not knowing that everything was recorded by a dash cam! This isn't feudal Japan, where are you going to run to? In all seriousness though, it is important to look where you are going when driving, especially so when making a U-turn. There's always a chance that the car in front hasn't completed the turn in one swift motion, they might even have to reverse, and you wouldn't want to be right behind them when they do! At least now we know why Ninjavan's deliveries are prompt, not even an accident can stop them! 🤣
  5. Toyota implements airless paint atomizer at Japanese plants source: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/03/15/toyota-airless-paint-atomizer/ Automotive manufacturers are in a constant state of searching for newer, better, faster, and overall more efficient ways to produce their cars, not only in regards to to time and money but also to pollution. Toyota's latest technology, an airless paint atomizer, addresses all three. Toyota claims to have the the first airless paint atomizer used to paint car bodies in the world. By using this technology, Toyota says it achieves more than 95% coating efficiency, meaning what actually sticks to the body, in comparison to 60 to 70% efficiency from a normal paint atomizer that does use air. In addition to painting cars more quickly and effectively, this technique could potentially reduce the Toyota Group's carbon dioxide emissions by about 7%. The machine arms for both the air paint atomizer and the airless paint atomizer are similar, but the small parts that distribute the paint at the tip of the gun are very different. The airless atomizer has a rotating tip that creates centrifugal force when spinning. That tip has roughly 600 grooves that are meant to direct the paint. Once the tip gets going, it draws the paint into the grooves while creating an electrostatic umbrella toward the car. The paint slides through the grooves, forms into tiny dots, and is drawn to the body of the car for more accurate painting. With air, the paint is essentially thrown at the body and what sticks sticks, while much is lost to rebound. An issue with this type of paint process is the uneven nature of car bodies. If the distance between the paint gun tip and the body is fluctuating, it becomes difficult to maintain a steady electrical current. Toyota engineered its atomizer to eliminate that issue by monitoring the variations and automatically adjusting the current. To ensure evenly distributed and sized paint particles, the spray gun maintains about 3.9 inches of distance between the tip and the car body. For now, Toyota is using this technology in its Takaoka and Tsutsumi plants in Japan, but the expectation is the airless paint atomizers will be used throughout the Toyota Group's global manufacturing. Toyota is also looking into licensing the technology to other companies. The video above further demonstrates how the process functions.
  6. Today someone from singaporeroadsaccident.com spotted a Singapore Police Force Toyota Hilux that got involved in an accident along Simei Street 3 on Friday morning (Jan 22). And here we see 2 police patrol cars and a fire engine arriving to assist. This is the aftermath. The Singapore Police Force has a fleet of Toyota Hilux (maybe one less now) and it is used as a Fast Response Vehicles. I wish the Police officer involved in this accident has a quick recovery! Good thing there wasnt any pedestrian involved.
  7. When looking for a Landcruiser, look for FJ40 to FJ55. They are tough 4X4. FJ55 more practical. Engine is a Chevy 6 clone. So you can really mount a small block V8 into it.
  8. While shopping around, I ran into this cute 7 seaters. What amaze me most is that for a small car like this, you actually can sit 7 adults. The seating is even better than WISH or the likes. 1 door is auto sliding while the other with
  9. 119810553_1098858070552615_6169005424589589203_n.mp4 "Hey man, where's the fire?", is what one should be asking the driver of the white Toyota. From the look of the video, the driver was going way too fast. If he wasn't rushing to a fire, maybe he was rushing off for something else... But let's not digress. As the old adage goes, "if you want to do something stupid, make sure others don't get hurt". Well, guess the driver of the Toyota didn't get the memo too. Speeding like a madman, fine. Crash into the central divider, it's your fault so live with it. But knocking into someone else after crashing your car? Not cool, man. Especially since the other car was minding their own business until they got a rude jolt because another car crashed into them. Stay safe, people. If you want to speed, buy a PlayStation or Xbox and get those racing simulator games like Gran Turismo or Forza. A lot cheaper and a whole lot safer.
  10. source: https://www.motor1.com/news/486412/gr-corolla-followed-by-wagon/ And a look through the GR Yaris’ parts bin. It’s a little known fact that petrolheads secretly love a sports wagon. It’s akin to that one guilty pleasure Taylor Swift song – a.k.a. Shake It Off – that you’ll immediately skip if you’re in the car with other people, but jam at full volume on your own. As such, it looks like Toyota might be looking to release a spicy GRMN version of its Corolla Touring. Before we start, we’d be remiss not to mention that the Corolla Touring isn’t currently available in the states. However, that shouldn’t subtract from the vehicle's credentials or the fact that a sportier version could be on the way. For the uninitiated, the GRMN callsign translates to Gazoo Racing Meister of Nürburgring. While the GR signifies some of the Japanese automaker’s racing DNA has been injected into the automobile, we can only guess what updates the Corolla will get. According to Spyder7, the exterior will likely include a large-diameter matrix grille to provide optimal cooling performance. Along with the new front fascia, other mods could possibly include an under spoiler, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and side skirts. While we’d wager the exterior alterations are mostly for aesthetics, things will likely be a bit different under the skin. Under the hood, it will likely sport the same turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-three-cylinder engine from the GR Yaris. And that’s a good thing, because with 257 horsepower (192 kilowatts) on tap, it’s the most powerful three-cylinder engine ever fitted to a production car. Following the same pattern, the new model will likely also receive the GR Yaris’ AWD system. While the Corolla Touring GRMN is expected to debut sometime around September of 2021, let’s wait and see what happens. Should the sporty wagon materialize, we’d wager that enthusiasts would bite your arm off to get behind the wheel.
  11. Need Help! Anyone have issue/problem with Toyota Corolla Altis (2009) starting engine problem immobilizer? I bought this used car last year 2020. I was given 2 keys. One key comes with the remote (Black). Another key no remote in Grey color. I opened the remote cover to check the battery model & cover it back. Then I cannot start the engine. When I used the Grey color key, it can start the engine. Any one knows how to disable the immobilizer or how to register the black key back?
  12. Has anyone experienced brakes which are intermittently sometimes high, sometimes low. There is a travel distance before the brakes bite, what may be the issue? Master brake cylinder fault? I have been constantly servicing my car, brakes are bleeded. After servicing, the brakes are always high but after 2 weeks, the brakes becomes low. Any experts out here who can advise 🙂
  13. Just to have an idea who are the Toyota owners, can share share tips also for similar model owners! Vios DarkLord- Black Vios Altis/G9 RAV4/MPVs PI models
  14. Now that is dangerous. Here's another case of a car catching fire while parked. As seen on SG Road Vigilante's page, a Toyota Vios caught fire despite not even being driven. This happened at on 2nd of Dec 2020 at blk 638 of Punggol Drive and thankfully it seemed like no one got hurt by the incident. It is unclear why the Vios lighted up on its own and we hope the taxi that was beside it when it was burning wasn't damaged. Could it be its in car-camera's back up battery? Or was it something else?
  15. TOYOTA DELIVERS IMPROVED SAFETY AND GREATER SOPHISTICATION When it comes to designing and building cars, safety is of the utmost importance. No matter how beautiful, powerful and sophisticated a car is, if it cannot deliver absolute safety for its passengers, it's hard to build a compelling case for why customers would buy the car. However, if you think about it, many of the safety aspects of driving (in the past) is the responsibility of the driver. The car may have high strength steel and multiple airbags to protect occupants in the case of a collision, but the day to day safety depends very much on the driver. Think back to your Traffic Police test and all the little minutia that caused you to pick up demerit points - things like checking your blind spot every time you move off, looking out for pedestrians, making sure to signal before changing lanes and etc. Thankfully, modern technological advances have increasingly allowed carmakers to fit modern cars with a variety of driver aids. While the onus of safety is ultimately the driver's, these systems are there to assist the driver and reduce the chances of any accidents. In Toyota's case, these technologies come together to form the Toyota Safety Sense suite. 1. Pre-Collision System One of the main dangers when driving is getting into an accident. Sometimes, it could be you as the driver losing concentration. Other times, it could be a case of the vehicle in front of you suddenly jam braking. The Pre-Collision System uses an in-vehicle camera and a radar sensor to detect vehicles or pedestrians ahead of you. So, if you get too close to the car in front, the system will prompt you with audio and visual alerts to warn you to react. Certain cars are also equipped with Pedestrian Detection, which can react when an individual suddenly races in front of your car. When applying brakes, the system may apply additional force using Brake Assist, helping you to come to a stop more quickly. If you do not brake, the car may automatically apply the brakes to reduce speed and mitigate the chance of a collision. This is important, not just in protecting occupants in the car, but other road users as well. 2. Lane Departure Alert Another possible danger when driving is the vehicle veering to either side. This can be caused by fatigue, lack of attention or just poor road judgement. By using an in-vehicle camera to recognise vehicle lane markings, the Lane Departure Alert system will prompt you when you are veering out of your lane. This should alert you to steer your vehicle back into the centre of the lane. Additionally, Steering Assist is a reactive system that helps to prevent the car from drifting out of the lane. When it senses the car drifting into the next lane, the system will make small corrective inputs to steer the car back into the lane. With both Steering Assist and the Lane Departure Alert System switched on, the car assists in maintaining its position in the middle of the lane, allowing you to have a more relaxing drive. 3. Automatic High Beams A key element of safety is being able to see what's ahead of you. That of course requires the use of your head lights, and sometimes your high beam. When the road ahead if particularly dark, the system will automatically engage the high beam to allow you ample vision of the road ahead. Leaving your high beam always on, however, can potentially blind oncoming drivers. With the Automatic High Beams, an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggles between high and low beams accordingly. By toggling to the low beam, this ensures the oncoming driver won't be blinded, thus ensuring the safety of all parties on the road. 4. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Sometimes, you just want the car to do the work for you. Accelerating and braking can be wearisome at times, and when cruising on the highway, it's sometimes nice to be able to let the car do it for you. With Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the car can indeed take over some of these functions. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control, adjusting the car's speed to maintain a pre-set distance from the car in front of you. If the vehicle ahead is slowing down, DRCC will slow your car down without deactivating cruise control. When there's no longer a car ahead, the system will then accelerate back up to the set speed limit. This is of course especially useful when travelling on the highway. Instead of having to constantly accelerating and braking, you set a fixed distance and allow the car to automatically do that work for you. Of course, these systems cannot fully replace the driver. It doesn't mean that with these systems in place, you can then take your attention off the road. However, it does mean that as much as possible, the car will pre-empt you of any potential dangers, giving you additional time to react accordingly. Toyota models in Singapore offered with Toyota Safety Sense include the all new Corolla Altis, the Camry, the C-HR, the Harrier and the RAV4. The Supra also has its own specific range of safety systems called Toyota Supra Safety. The development of these Toyota Safety Sense technologies reflects the brand's commitment to creating 'Ever Better Cars'.
  16. Hi guys. I'm planning to buy this car soon. Wanted to get some feedback about this car. Here's the info I digged up so far. 1) Fuel Consumption about 23km/l consider good for a 2.5CC car 2) Made In Australia, I think that's fine 3) PI generally selling the car now at around 110-120K. I do find the pricing quite reasonable. 4) PI offer battery hybrid warranty either 5 or 10 years. Reliability wise, I think being a Toyota should not have issues. How about the comfort? Driving experience? Handling? Acceleration? Braking? Features? Kindly share if you are driving one now.
  17. Hi guys, I have been facing transmission problem with my 2008 Toyota Harrier 2.4A Whenever I shift the auto gear to "D", the car will take 1 to 3 mins to engage into the gear. During the wait, the car is as though it is in "Neutral" gear. I do not face any problem with the "R" gear. The "D" shift responds much better after a 20mins drive (when i reach my destination). This is very annoying as sometimes I have to wait about 3 minutes before moving off from carpark. It also poses a danger when i'm doing a 3 point turn and the car stucks in the middle of the road until the "D" gear decides to engage after 2 to 3 mins. I have checked the auto gear fluid and it is at the optimum level. Gear fluid colour is also in a clear red colour. Anyone here knows what is wrong with the auto gear? Where can I bring it for a repair and how much would it approx. cost?

  19. Hi all, my uncle bought a second hand Toyota axio last year. Now the steering wheel will jam from time to time. Have to restart the car to get back the steering. May I know what workshop can help??? Coz they went to a few workshop and they say PI car they can't do.
  20. More details about a crash that happened on 19 June 2020 involving a bus and three cars at the junction of Sembawang Road and Gambas Avenue at 10.08am has been released. In the video posted by ROADS.sg, one can see a speeding Toyota Altis crashing into a Toyota CH-R at extreme speeds. The blue car was sent spinning from the impact and can be seen with its front bumper mangled. Impressively, the 52-year old driver in the Altis managed to flee the scene despite the severity of the crash. He was later caught for suspected drug-related and traffic-related offences. Meanwhile, the police said that the CH-R driver, a 50-year-old male car driver as well as his 39-year-old female passenger were conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. On a side note, do you guys think that if you happen to be planning a heist or something along those lines, that this video serves as proof that even in an accident as severe as this, you could walk away pretty much unharmed if you were in a Toyota Altis?
  21. Iniital batches will be almostly hand-assembled. Once the assembly line is refined, robotic automation moves in. Delivery 2014(Japan), 2015(NA) Love the way each worker double checks their work and finishing with a self-assuring gesture with a sign off. The digital torque wrench is the preferred tool in the video. Edit: The name "Mirai" means Future in Japanese Kanji or in Chinese "未来" Assembly floor in raw sound and HD.
  22. Woman sues company after she won a Toyota that turned out to be a toy Yoda source: https://me.mashable.com/culture/8976/woman-sues-company-after-she-won-a-toyota-that-turned-out-to-be-a-toy-yoda The force is... not that strong with this one. 26-year-old Jodee Berry worked at a popular restaurant in the US, Hooters. In order to drum up some competition between the staff, managers decided to start a competition to see who could sell the most beer in a month. The winner to receive a new Toyota. Jodee won the competition, out-selling her coworkers. To claim her prize, Jodee was blindfolded and led to the restaurant’s parking lot. But, when the blindfold was removed, Jodee was devastated to find that the prize was, in fact, not a Toyota automobile but rather a toy Yoda, a Star Wars doll. Jodee quit her job and decided to sue her former employers, for fraudulent misrepresentation. She won and the suit was settled for an undisclosed amount of money, however, one of the lawyers in the case said the amount could easily have her head to the car dealership to “pick out whatever type of Toyota she wants.” Why you don't want me. 😥
  23. Here's more reason to miss your favourtie bite of delicious McSpicy. McDonalds is collaborating with Toyota Gazoo Racing to bring these Toyota GR Supra scale models with what looks like each purchase of fries or a Big Mac. (I'm just guessing from their Japanese site) And at ¥220 and ¥370 respectively, we think that's mighty good value! (Again, guessing from the Japanese website) The model appears to only be available in Japan (as you might have guessed, but we hope not for long!) but for all those that need their McDonald's fix, there's a mighty delicious video of Toyota's 'Drift Twins' Daigo Saito and Nobuteru Taniguchi going sideways around a little Macs, embedded for your convenience above. Imagine showing up to your nearest Maccies in one of these. Yeah the mad things people will do to get some fries. We cannot wait for this circuit breaker to end. Check out the scale model's promo site here.
