  1. Hehe I believe the Taycan already has that 🙂 . E-tron GT probably as well since same platform.
  2. If e-tron I rather choose Taycan.. wait for RWD model, should be slightly cheaper..
  3. Somehow I like Taycan more. I like the 5 Ring cluster behind Steering. Here is the comparison https://www.carscoops.com/2021/02/new-audi-e-tron-gt-vs-porsche-taycan-brothers-from-another-mother/
  4. I wanted to say that this E-tron GT is the poor man Porsche Taycan, but when I see its pricing, I realised I am the real poor one... But have to admit it look more muscular than its cousin from Stuttgart.
  5. Change is so much needed in Singapore with the crazy car taxes and COE cost. We really don't need ADs adding their ridiculous margins to further increase the cost of car ownership. (Imagine an affordable Audi e-tron!)
  6. Can't confirm, but as a buyer I can tell you, what other EV is comparable to Tesla now? Kona 64kwh and Niro 64kwh was selling for 160-180k. PML cant give me an indicative price on the IX3, but it will be north of 250k. Mercedes EQC400 will definitely be above 300k, E tron right now is a joke. Range not as much as the tesla and there is a margin of 100k. Once the model Y launches, let's say its 20-30k more expensive than the model 3, it will immediately undercut the 3 german compact suv evs by at least 50-100k. There is the mg zs ev for 120k but are we really gonna compare that to a model y? There is also the renault zoe at 120k, and the cooper se at 160k and the Leaf at 130k. All these have smaller ranges, not as big as the model 3 SR+ for 160k. Not to mention, Tesla will have it's own supercharger network that is exclusive to Tesla cars. They also have a min fast charge speed of 150kw. All the other EVs have to rely on SP's 50 kw fast charger. Also, Tesla is the only brand that doesn't require regular maintenance. In fact, they removed the annual maintenance that was required in the early days. Nowadays, it's a cabin filter change annually, brake pads and wipers as needed and a brake fluid flush on the 3rd year. Tires you check yourself. The rest of the EV's still have annual maintenance. Hyundai quoted me annual service of 200-300 (checks, fluids etc) for Kona LR. Maybe when more EVs come out, Tesla's competitiveness will drop. But for now, their user interface, maintenance free and autopilot and FSD are seriously ahead of the game. If we are going to compare to ICE cars, what will you compare the Model 3 to? I assume C180 and 318. These cars are definitely not as fast and cost more to run. So to those who have their charging sorted out, it's a no brainer. Unless you are after the badge. What you are forgetting is the EEAI Rebate. This is essentially a 45k discount on tax per car sold that becomes profit for their parent if it doesn't become profit for Tesla Singapore. If I were Tesla I would do the same. By having a 20k profit on the OMV, it goes directly to Giga Shanghai or the US parent. I'm sure they have some special tax arrangement with the Govts there and maybe even export benefits from China for exporting a made in china product. If they were to drop the car's omv to 40-50k, and sell it at 160k, people will count and say oh, Tesla Singapore makes a margin of 20-30k. Margin is something you pay instant depreciation for and do not get back. Try buying a new car from PML or Cycle and selling it immediately. The most you get back is the the OTR cost while you paid OTR cost plus a good 50-60k margin. ARF, on the other hand, you get back half of it. So it is a win win for them, there is more dereg value for the customer at the end of the day (34k arf after rebate so 17k parf for the standard range plus) this way. If they were to declare omv as 40-50k, the parf could be as little as 2.5k -5k. Meanwhile, this 45k rebate in arf translates into pure profit for them since it comes from the increased OMV. This also allows them to have more profitability in their books for their shareholders. If they drop the omv now, another thing to note is when the EEAI ends, the car instantly becomes more expensive on the road. By increasing the OMV now, when the EEAI ends, they can drop the omv and maintain the current selling price. Assuming COE stays at the 40-50k level. One of my comparisons was running costs with 318i , C180. Yes the annual road tax is high, 3k range. But the performance is that of a 330i and C300. I am a high mileage user. about 25000km per year. I have had 530i, Volvo S90 T6 and other similar 2l contis with the 250-300hp range before. At best I can get 10l/100km. Average it was always 12-15 litres per 100km. That is around 6.5k in 98 fuel for me per year. Fuel discount taken into consideration. With the Tesla, being pessimistic about the range, a 50kwh charge can get me 250km even though the rated range is 420km. 50kwh of electricity costs me 9 dollars. With the same 25000km travelled. I will only incur 900 dollars of electricity spent taking into account my home tariff now of 18 cents per kwh. This is before all servicing and maintenance. With ICE cars, you need a min 200 dollar oil change every 10-15k km. If done at the agent to preserve your warranty, that will be a lot more. So yes, overall I still save with a Tesla, even if the road tax is higher.
  7. once Model X come to SG and sell below SGD 200K, Mercs EQA, EQC , Audi E-tron all GAME OVER Liao

  9. Electric cars rise to record 54per cent market share in Norway in 2020 Seeking to become the first nation to end the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2025, oil-producing Norway exempts fully electric vehicles from taxes imposed on those relying on fossil fuels. Wah...no road tax for EVs in Norway. No wonder 54% market share. Volkswagen's Audi brand topped the 2020 leaderboard with its e-tron sports utility and sportsback vehicles as the most sold new passenger cars in Norway last year, while Tesla's mid-sized Model 3, the 2019 winner, was relegated to second place. 10. check this out ---> https://litesim.tron.com.my/newsim/create Tron Malaysia is riding on Digi network. I am currently using Tron Prepaid SIM [formally signed up with Genting Worldcard Mobile Prepaid]. I am still using this due to the following considerations : - the prepaid can be used for tel/data/sms. - minimum RM10 topup will extend validity for 1 year. - online account to view usage, top-up, subscribe/unsubscribe adhoc daily/weekly/monthy data plans.
  11. http://www.flynnlives.com/media/video/0xendgame.aspx
  12. Example if a person subscribe this data plan ...RM5 Week 150MB (RM5 Week 150MB). If did not unsubscribe before end of the expiry date, it will auto renew every week until the account balance is empty. Few years ago when the Tron app was not available, I had to email Tron customer service for assistance to unsubscribe my monthly data plan RM25, as we do not have Tron network in SG. In fact I did suggest that they should allow sub/unsub via online, so the customer service do not have to deal with such emails.

Throw in that futuristic cabin and this could just be the car to convince customers to go electric. Could it convince you as well? Watch the full video to find out!
  17. Day 3 - Today is Shanghai Disneyland! We woke up late. Ha. All very tried. But, that's fine. We were on holiday, and the whole idea was not meant to rush. Once up, we made our way to DisneyTown for breakfast. Our room rate didn't come with breakfast, so we figured it would be more cost effective to head straight to DisneyTown and have breakfast there, before entering the park. BreadTalk and ToastBox opened at 0800hrs. Picture of the sandwich and laksa. ENTERING THE PARK By the time we entered the park, it was close to 1000hrs. (Ok, as I said, we woke up late). The video below shows you the barricades, and we entered the park! Download the DISNEY APP and buy your tickets before you arrive. In case you missed it in the video above, this is what the ticketing booth looked like at close to 1000hrs a park day. COMPLETELY CLOSED. It wasn't just a reduced ticketing system, it was closed. I was taken aback. It looked like that was NO WAY to buy a ticket from the ticketing counters, and I didn't see any self-service machines either! Bought Our Tickets Months Before Just how did we get our tickets? My dear wife (have read all the reviews) had alerted me some months ago that we needed to get our tickets sorted out. So I downloaded the app and bought our tickets. I was also reminded that I will need my phone to be fully powered for the entire day, which meant I needed to bring batteries to charge my phone. I brought two. You Need Data Wait a second, for the app to work, you need WiFi or data connection. Does Shanghai Disney provide? Not that I was aware. There was no free WIFI. So, another cruicial tip - make sure you got a good reliable data connection! I was using data roaming with my Singapore SIM Card, so no issues on that front for me. Remember, no data, the app won't work either! See this short video clip below of how the app looks like. When you buy tickets, you have to give a document number (in our case it would be our passport). At the entrance gate, the staff asked to see the original document (so you have to bring your passports along). Once she verified the document against my electronic ticket (on the App), she proceeded to issue 4 paper tickets. After that, I had to scan the paper tickets issued using the app, to group them together so that you can get FastPasses via the App! We had to keep the paper tickets because that is what they used to scan at the entry and exit gates when we left the park (to DisneyTown to get food) and entered again. Sounds confusing? Yeah, it was slightly so. FASTPASS Selection What about Fastpasses? Get them through the app too. Once you are in the park and tickets are linked, you can see which Fast Passes are available. See the screenshot below. At 1011AM, the first First Pass I could get was for TRON Lightcycle Power Run, to enter between 2:10PM - 3:10PM. I could only make another FastPass selection at 12:11PM. Pirates of the Caribbean Anyway, once in, we consulted the App for wait times, and decided to head towards Pirates of the Caribbean! Guests can be any height, and the ride was suitable for all ages. It was a very impressive ride indeed, with great effects, as you ride a boat around. A picture of the line. The queues were orderly and there was palpable excitement in the air. This was Disneyland, after all. Even though the app said the wait was 40 minutes, it certainly didn't felt that long. We probably waited around 20 minutes. I left my iPhone 8 Plus running as I enjoyed the ride. Unfortunately, this phone isn't great in such low light conditions, so the video is very dark. The ride was beautifully done. Amazing use of technology. But you get an idea. This ride is definitely worth it. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Roller Coaster of sorts) From pirates, we head to dwarves - the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland. It is supposedly a roller-coaster. Guests must be 97 cm or taller, so we figured it couldn't be too hard on the stomach. The waiting time was long, but we decided to try the Single Rider method. We had read about it. See the sign below, which made clear that you will be seated separately from travelling companions/friends. SINGLE RIDER LINE - Only Waited 20 Minutes We ended up waiting only 20 minutes for our turn to ride. Indeed, we rode separately. I went the last, and for some strange reason, I had a cart to myself. (It is 2 person per car). I was in the very last car. Here is the ENTIRE RIDE filmed with my GoPro. Thank God I didn't drop the camera. Disney Castle After that, we were headed to another ride in the direction of Tron. Here is a video of us walking towards the castle. Once Upon a Time Adventure At the base of the castle, we saw this attraction called 'Once Upon a Time Adventure'. Since the waiting time wasn't that long, we decided to check it out. According to the website, we are to step through the Magic Mirror portal and enter an enchanted dimension of wonder: Snow White’s fairy-tale world. Asian Cinderella Singing in Mandarin It ended up being a walk-through of the Cinderella story, completely in mandarin of course. Didn't take very long. What struck me was an Asian (Yellow-Skinned, Chinese) Cinderella singing to a well in Mandarin. That was cool. What was she singing? Based on my limited mandarin, she was asking to meet her Prince Charming.
  18. @UncleAtas the light inside cannot lah. 🤣 Inside like tron leh.
  19. Malacca network should be ok, because we used the Tron in Genting Highlands and Penang as well. Tron is riding on Digi network, which is one of Malaysia telcos.
  20. We have been using this Tron prepaid (carried over from Genting Mobile). Now there is a Tron app for reload/topup, as well as subscribe/unsubscribe the data plan. In the past, we had to remember to unsubscribe the data plan before crossing home. Otherwise, the data plan charges will continue to use up the account balance.
  21. For frequent travellers to JB, get the Tron card. http://www.tron.com.my/ 1. Can top up online 2. Can subscribe for data plan online 3. Valid for 1 year from last top up 4. They send the card to your address in SG (dunno if there is added cost as I bought in MY) 5. Using Digi network Cons: They have no signal in SG at all. You need to go online to activate data in advance or wait till you are in JB. Sometimes difficult to do so if you need GPS right after customs. 1 off use then just pay the 15 bucks lor. Saves some trouble. Otherwise can consider the card i Posted about above if you will revisit Malaysia once in a while.

  23. The Audi e tron has got very good reviews. Comparable to anything tesla gets.
  24. We are using Tron as well, being "migrate" over from the Genting Worldcard Mobile partnership. The Tron app is very useful for topup before setting out to Malaysia.
  25. There are reported cases, and China seems to be more proactive in dealing with EV Safety. Tesla and NIO Fires in China Spur Electric-Car Safety Checkups China is ordering carmakers to conduct checks on electric vehicles after cars made by Tesla Inc. and NIO Inc. caught on fire, spurring anxiety over the safety of battery-powered automobiles. Companies need to check for potential safety hazards with battery boxes, waterproof protection in cars, high-voltage wiring harnesses, as well as on-board charging devices, the country’s industry and technology ministry said in a statement posted on its website. Automakers need to submit their findings by the end of October. The order comes after a run of fires involving EVs in what is the world’s biggest market for the new technology. NIO -- a Nasdaq-listed electric car startup from Beijing with aspirations to rival Tesla -- said Friday one of its ES8 SUVs caught fire, the third time in about two months the model has been involved in an incident. Tesla said it was investigating after video of one of its cars bursting into flames in Shanghai spread on Chinese social media in April. Weeks later, there were reports of a Tesla Model S combusting in Hong Kong. The Chinese ministry said safety checks should also be carried out on cars that have already been sold, with special attention paid to highly used vehicles such as cabs, according to the statement. Lithium Batteries Electric cars are increasingly using high-density lithium batteries to extend their driving ranges, as demand for the vehicles climbs. A mix of subsidies and favorable policies helped push Chinese EV sales beyond 1 million units last year, luring a raft of newcomers to the business. In 2018, China recorded at least 40 fire-related incidents involving new-energy vehicles, a fleet that includes pure battery electric, hybrid plug-in and fuel-cell vehicles, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation. The watchdog has called for scrutiny of NEV quality and recalled more than 130,000 cars last year. China isn’t the only place where EV fires are on the radar. Audi said June 10 it is recalling its first all-electric vehicle sold in the U.S. because of the risk of battery fire. About 540 E-Tron SUVs have been voluntarily recalled on risk that moisture can seep into the battery cell through a wiring harness glitch. Talks with German authorities about a potential recall in Europe are ongoing, Audi spokesman Udo Ruegheimer said last week. NIO is cooperating with an official investigation into an ES8 fire in Shanghai, with the cause of the blaze to be made public once the report is finalized, said Izzy Zhu, a NIO vice president in charge of user development. NIO its conducting its own probe into last Friday’s fire, the company said in a separate statement. EVs are no more prone to accidents or fires than gasoline-powered cars -- and might be less so, according to a 2017 report by the U.S.’ National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. But that report also notes battery technology is still evolving and there isn’t a consensus on safe system design. For those that can understand Chinese, you may want to read the statement issued by China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Equipment Development Center., which provides more details of the proposed inspection process. Snapshot of the article: The triggering conditions shall include: the normal mileage of the vehicle or the interval of use, the accident of the vehicle colliding, soaking water, etc., and the vehicle instrument has a serious fault alarm signal (such as battery, overvoltage, overtemperature, low insulation, overheating of the charging socket, etc.)... When the production enterprise discovers that the vehicle has reached the above trigger condition through monitoring data, it should promptly remind the user to return to the store for inspection and maintenance by means of telephone, SMS, vehicle alarm, etc. Bluesg only open up it charging point for public usage recently, while it is a more challenging to than playing hide and seek to find one from SP Power just a few months back. And the key issue is not with the availability of the charging point, BUT the time taken to have the vehicle charged, minimum of about 40 mins to an hour basing on today technology. For those that is on the road most of the time (PHV especially), time is a precious resource... And of course, the exorbitant annual road tax, no thanks to the ruling to pegged it to the vehicle max. horsepower... ...
