  1. If Iraola is smart like Klopp, he will resist getting too many players all at the same time and in his 1st season. It is a receipe for lofty expectations and the presure will weigh on his shoulders immediately. Should results slide at some point in the season, then he will be under scrutinty immediately. That was the danger which Slot actually did avoid in the first season. However, when changes were put on him in the 2nd season, we now know that he couldn't handle the pressure and crumpled. So, I think while there are obvious needs to get new faces in.... i think Iraola will likely do it in a phased approach.. The main gaps which definitely needs to be filled are 1 CB, I fullback, 1 DM and at least 1 wingers. Other than that, I feel he should work with the current squad and get it firing again.
  2. I am just saying we should learn from smart people..... Maybe one day I also go rent!

As my surgeon friend always say, patients are very smart nowadays. Too young = no experience. Too old = scared your hands shake. Either way also hiam. So the window is really from 40s to mid 50s. Late 50s they already go find other lokun liao.
  4. Stupid monkey-designed 3 POS. Why not put the card reader with the display or the antenna? Why die die have to locate it with the heater unit and make drivers act like monkeys to reach the card? So much for smart nation when some departments are run by our primate relatives.
  5. BYD driver very smart, practice defensive driving, stay put far far away, otherwise the car will kena instead of traffic light.
  6. I perfectly understand this under mobile device and smart gadget model but not agreeable to apply this blindly to EVs. There are only so much software/firmware can do without proper support from related hardware. Imagine a car does not come with wireless AA or Car Play, there is no way can add wireless AA as a aftermarket enhancement without addition of wireless module. Tesla cars for goodness sake come without even wired AA and Car Play, not even if the owners willing to pay. For my EV van when I select cruise control, I would be reminded on the dashboard display that my car does not have Adaptive CC which would not be possible without the necessary hardware already come with the EV. So not that can suka suka add conveniently with firmware OTA update. Even for mobile devices, there is always only so much that can be added although much more flexible. For example, you cannot expect certain current apps/games now to run smoothly with a device under Android version 8 as that would mean very dated hardware so not enough juice to run the apps properly. My EV vans already comes with most of the features I need/want, so nothing to complain about lack of firmware updates haha. Maybe lack of sun roof. In short smart is good, but not smart alex.
  7. Expect more China EV brand to hit our shore in the next 2 years, as the big wave have just started. Ultimately, only the fittest will survive on our tiny island (since we have a fixed quota for new car registration each month/year). Another point to ponder: Is PA changing their game plan (betting heavily on Chinese EVs) with the declining market share of Audi? Chinese EV brand Xpeng to be launched in Singapore by second half of 2024 Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by German carmaker Volkswagen, will be launched in Singapore by the second half of 2024. Sources with close knowledge of the negotiations said the EV maker appointed Premium Automobiles as its distributor recently. This will be the second Chinese EV brand that Premium is representing, after Zeekr from Geely. The first Xpeng model to retail in Singapore is expected to be the G6, a sport utility vehicle that is about the same size as the Tesla Model Y. This is likely to include a single motor version capable of covering 580km on a single charge. Premium Automobiles did not respond to queries on Xpeng when approached for comment. The dealership, which is also the retail partner of German car brand Audi, would say only that Zeekr remains on track to be launched here by the third quarter of 2024. The Straits Times has also contacted Xpeng for comment. Xpeng’s impending foray into Singapore comes as the EV adoption rate here rises. In 2023, EVs made up 18.1 per cent of total car registrations, up from 11.7 per cent in 2022 and 3.8 per cent in 2021. The Chinese brand is regarded by industry experts as among the strongest contenders against Tesla, although it delivered just 141,600 units in 2023 – a fraction of the 1.08 million units managed by the American EV brand. It sells left-hand drive models in China, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. On March 11, the South China Morning Post reported that Xpeng plans to launch right-hand drive models in the second half of 2024 as part of its global expansion strategy. Volkswagen holds a 5 per cent stake in the company from Guangzhou, China, and the companies are working to develop two VW-branded models for the Chinese market. Automotive consultant Say Kwee Neng said Xpeng is one of three Chinese EV brands – the other two being Nio and Li Auto – that are well regarded for their products’ technology, design and level of sophistication. “There is a lot of hype behind these three brands, but ultimately, it will be down to the representative in Singapore to bring in the right model mix and be relevant. We have already seen how BYD has broken down walls to make Chinese EVs desirable to consumers here,” Mr Say added. Chinese EV brand BYD was the fourth-biggest selling brand in Singapore in 2023, outselling the likes of Nissan (fifth), Hyundai (seventh) and Tesla (ninth). Xpeng joins at least five other Chinese brands that are slated to enter the Singapore market, including GAC Aion, which will be launched in April by Vincar. Their addition will more than double the number of Chinese car brands from the four in 2023 – BYD, MG, Maxus and Ora. Mr Say believes that Chinese EV brands are hastening their move into Singapore to build up global credibility as they try to break into European markets. Automotive analysts expect EV sales in China to grow at a slower pace in 2024, even as domestic EV brands and Tesla have been cutting prices to boost demand. This slowdown in demand is pushing Chinese EV brands to look abroad for sales, some industry insiders believe. The other Chinese EV brands slated to launch here are Smart, which Cycle & Carriage will roll out in the first half of 2024; Chery, which is represented by Vertex Automobile; Seres, which is imported by Hong Seh; and Neta, which Vincar has the rights to distribute.
  8. Nearly 1,000 households have signed up for the centralised cooling system (CCS) in the upcoming "forest town" of Tengah, where some 8,000 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats have been launched so far. Home owners who opt for the energy-efficient system will save around 15 to 20 per cent in upfront costs and up to 30 per cent in life cycle costs, SP Group, which runs the system in Tengah, said on Monday (Oct 19). The CCS is one of many smart features that will be implemented in Tengah, the town billed as a "smart energy" one powered by artificial intelligence. Under the CCS, chilled water will be piped to homes from centralised chillers installed on the rooftops of selected Housing Board (HDB) blocks. This is more energy-efficient compared with conventional air-conditioning systems, said SP Group. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/housing/nearly-1000-households-in-tengah-have-signed-up-for-centralised-cooling-system?utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ST_Newsletter_PM&utm_term=Nearly+1%2C000+households+in+Tengah+sign+up+for+centralised+cooling+system&utm_content=19%2F10%2F2020
  9. I will be starting my renovation pretty soon. Watched an episode of tiny house nation and they have installed some smart features into the system like turning off lights, lowering blinds or turn on the aircon with voice command. Anyone has done anything like that? I'm interested in the blinds. Not sure if I'm gonna do any of these. Will appreciate if anyone who has done similar things to share their experiences. TIA.
  10. Counting how many EV charging point has become a "vanity metric" - I agree with this saying. Experienced/smart EV owners will know this and learn how to optimise their charging habit based around their daily routines and cost/convenience. 😄 CNA (21 May) As Singapore's EV uptake soars, drivers and experts say it's not how many chargers, but where and what kind "I would argue that the charger count is becoming a vanity metric," said NUS Assoc Prof Peng The real measure, he said, was charging energy delivered per vehicle per week. A 7-kilowatt (kW) alternating current (AC) home charger, which is slower and suitable for overnight charging, and a 180-kW direct current (DC) fast charger each count as one charging point but serve very different needs. Over 90% of HDB car parks are equipped with slow chargers (AC). Fast-charging (DC) hubs are being rolled out, with at least one per HDB town planned by end-2027. "If close to 60% of new cars are EVs, the right question shifts from 'how many points' to 'how many usable kilowatts, in the right locations, at what utilisation..." https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/ev-electric-vehicles-new-cars-chargers-location-6097106
  11. Bro, perhaps you can "outsource" your EV-charger-tracking job to your children & their smart device when their are at appropriate age. That way, they will appreciate Daddy's challenge and perhaps grow an interest in modern software centeic mobility business. Afterall, young-lings are far more adaptable in "new tech". 😝
  12. Hard to imaging latest EV today don't have some sort of smart cooling system to keep the traction battery temp at optimum to last that 10 years lifspan. Some battery makers even patent their cooling tech just to stay ahead of the competition, like this Tesla battery with inner liquid-cooled design between cells.
  13. That case u need to charge anywhere and whenever you make a stop, since your place is usually taken up. My workplace also started to become busy and I don't go office that early.. made worse when smart aleks charge the cheaper AC the whole day and hog the lot.
  14. One thing I like about DC.. you can't kelong the charging speed and hog the lot, unless you are okay with idle fees. Unlike AC, some smart hero can have the ability to set it the slowest possible and hog the lot.
  15. Alonso take Chelsea job so he can choose his own players and not have to play players chosen by Hughes! Alonso smart!
  16. (File photo: AFP/Daniel Roland) SINGAPORE: A set of provisional national standards to guide the safe deployment of fully autonomous vehicles in Singapore has been enhanced following a review, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Singapore Standards Council (SSC) announced on Friday (Sep 3). These standards - in the form of technical reference (TR) 68 - will now include new guidelines on the application of machine learning, software updates management, cybersecurity principles and testing framework. This will enable the autonomous vehicles to keep pace with recent technology advancements, and further smoothen the transition from development to operationalisation of the autonomous vehicles, said LTA and SSC in a joint media release. “It also provides updated safety guidelines for the test-bedding of AV (autonomous vehicle) solutions on Singapore roads. To facilitate the co-creation of smart mobility solutions and enhance AV interoperability among different service providers, the revised standards feature updates to data types and formats,” both parties added. This follows a review conducted from March 2020 and July this year by four working groups appointed by the SSC, and overseen by Enterprise Singapore. The review was led by the industry and supported by the LTA, said the SSC and LTA. TR 68 was first published in 2019 and since then, more than 200 enterprises have accessed the TR 68, said LTA and SSC. “The TR provides guidance to industry players in their deployment and deployment of AV solutions and helps to build up Singapore’s AV ecosystems which includes start-ups, SMEs, and testing inspection and certification service providers.” The Singapore Manufacturing Federation - Standards Development Organisation will be scheduling a workshop in October to help companies understand and implement TR 68 effectively. Source - CNA: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/autonomous-vehicles-tr68-enhanced-national-standards-safe-2153946 -------------------- Does this mean that we will be seeing more AVs on sg roads in the near future? What are your thoughts on driverless cars/vehicles on high traffic roads i.e expressways and major road junctions?
  17. Again, relax lah bro. This is not all "bad news" since in our fast changing World, one cannot separate mechanical & electrical "object" in any engineering marvel like the EV. More so when our "smart" watches today function more like computer vs those "charming" mechanical manual-wind counterparts. Perhaps what you feel the items that need hand-winding has become a collectable thing ? 🤭
  18. He he he....One of the best Telsa OTA added feature is in Update 2024.32.3 which added automatic hands-free frunk! SaaS as a business model has spread into the EV industry. EV is not a smart device ? Think again. 🤭
  19. To anyone not knowledgeable enough about firmware updates for smart mobile phones, and always want to use it to build a case of the need for constant firmware updates for EVs, the reason for firmware update under mobile phones is short and simple - security patches. Having latest security updates would protect the mobile devices better in case of malware attacks. But is there such a need for EVs? Definitely not. So do not equate mobile phones and EVs as same that need constant firmware updates. If the EV is stable enough, there is no need for constant updates. No lousy excuse should be accepted. The only situation when firmware update is needed is when the car makers try to push their cars out early into the market even before it is mature enough, which is what many car makers from a certain country like to do.. Imagine if ICE car makers do it in the past and roll out cars before completing their reliability testing, would the situation be accepted? And by stable it does not mean perfect, but that it can work reliably thats all.
  20. I have bad news for you - there is no such thing as a "stable" software. All s/w releases will have bugs in them. Else Elon Musk won't have push for OTA feature in all its Telsa models. Of course there is nothing wrong if EV owner refuse to acknowledge software updates like those who ignore smart phones software patches. 😉
  21. It is well accepted today that modern EV are basically smart mobile device with wheels. Who would wanna continue using a smartphone that has lousy or zero s/w support/updates for rest of its service life ? The German carmakers made the fatal mistake by treating EV as if it is a legacy product by under investing on the digital/sw aspect and having seamless end-user experience. And it also largely explains electronics makers like Xiaomi and Geely are able to move in EV much quicker and smoother than traditional automotive giants like Toyota and VW. 🤭 EV software delays threaten to become “a disaster” for the German automakers Volkswagen and other automakers know perfectly well that they’ve fallen far behind Tesla, not only in battery technology, but also in the software expertise that will be mission-critical for future generations of electric, connected, autonomous vehicles.
  22. Weird to call this a "Swedish badge" full MPV when it is Made-in-Hangzhou and only for sale in China. WTF ???!! 😳 The Chinese Geely Group started the mass production of Volvo’s first minivan (MPV), the EM90. It is a rebadge of the Zeekr 009 multi-purpose vehicle. So far, the Volvo EM90 will be available only in China for 115K USD. It will start deliveries in March this year. The Volvo EM90 was launched in China on November 12, 2023. It stands on the Geely’s SEA platform that underpins Polestar 4, Lotus Eletre and Emeya (it is slightly upgraded and called EPA), Jiyue 01, Smart #1, Smart #3, and every Zeekr model. https://carnewschina.com/2024/02/06/volvo-em90-rolls-off-production-line-in-china-as-rebadged-zeekr-009/

  24. Jardine C&C said to explore sale of car dealership in Malaysia and Singapore https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/jardine-cc-said-explore-sale-car-dealership-malaysia-and-singapore Passenger Cars & EVs under C&C in Singapore: (The list were from Google) Mercedes-Benz Kia Mitsubishi Citroën Peugeot (acquired from Sime Darby) DS Automobiles smart ORA Maxus Leapmotor
  25. Just googled the 2026 Altis. I must say the front looks quite nice actually. Front grille looks even nicer than the 2026 Corolla which is nonexistent. It is a combination of smart and sportiness (esp the rims). Even has ambient lights like merc. Dashboard is straight lines and very elegant. Still an Altis tho...but it is like a bowl of egg fried rice, simple but hits the spot. But do you only want to eat egg fried rice daily? For some people that's all they need, for others it is almost insulting. Cars are really personal choices.
