  1. Hi guys, Am driving a 2008 Wish NFL. It's a second hand. 5 years old this year. Mileage abt 90,000K if it has not been tampered before (haha.. we all know abt dealers lowering the numbers.. anyway...). Since I got the car 2 years back, havent change anything on the brakes till now. The car is stock stock condition. Here's my problem : - Screeching sounds coming from rear of vehicle whenever i tap the brakes. (definitely not the front brakes cos I poke my head out of the car to listen when driving. Slow speed though) - Applying light brake.... screeching comes on continuously. - Applying harder brakes.....beginning there's a slight screech, then it's gone till the car comes to a complete stop. - Applying brake when reversing... no sound (probably because it's too slow to create any noise) Anyone driving same ride and encounter this problem before? What needs to be change, the damage, any workshop to recommend, contacts? SG or JB workshop also can so long as it's economical and trust worthy. If not convenient to post here, can PM me. Any recommendations welcome! Along the way, also though of doing a general servicing plus checking of aircon... not sure it's the weather or car, it just feels not as cold when you need it. Haha.. Thanks a million in advance!
  2. The total number of accidents involving cyclists has gone down by 17 per cent between 2008 and last year. But every fatality is still one too many, said Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, as he revealed these numbers in response to MPs' questions. With this in mind, the Transport Ministry is undertaking a number of initiatives to make it safer for cyclists, he said. New dedicated cycling paths are being built in seven neighbourhoods to separate cyclists from motorists and pedestrians, and the ministry is looking to link these intra-town cycling paths so that cyclists can commute between towns. To boost education in cycling safety, the Land Transport Authority will make new "Intra-Town Cycling" handbook available soon. It lists good cycling etiquette and safety tips for cycling. The Traffic Police and Home Affairs Ministry are also studying measures to inculcate a safe road-sharing mindset among motorists and cyclists, and are reviewing cycling penalties to ensure that they reflect the severity of the offences. 6. PM Lee: This is worse than 2008 meltdown http://www.straitstimes.com/print/The-Big-...ory_730422.html By Rachel Chang CANNES - As an escalating debt crisis in Greece hung over the first day of the Group of 20 (G-20) nations summit in France, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong told G-20 leaders on Thursday that the European situation is a 'serious and volatile' one and on a bigger scale than the 2008 financial meltdown in the United States. Speaking at the first working session of the Cannes summit over lunch, Mr Lee said that the risk of 'sudden and unpredictable' global contagion from the troubles in Europe is also higher. Despite robust fundamentals and continued growth, Asian economies are already seeing the pullback of capital and the slowing of their exports to the West, he said. He noted that political decision-making in the European Union - made up of 27 countries, of which 17 share a common currency - is more complex, and issued a call to the G-20 to show 'political leadership which is critical to solving economic problems'. 'Help people understand that we are in for a difficult period... and build political support for measures that involve some sacrifice today, but which will make things better eventually,' he urged. Singapore is at the meeting of the world's leading economies for the second time as one of five invited guest countries, and Mr Lee said that he was sharing the thoughts of a 'small nation closely tied to both the advanced and developing world'. The G-20, made up of 19 countries and the European Union, represents 85 per cent of global gross domestic product. As world leaders descended on the French Riviera yesterday, political brinkmanship over the debt crisis in Greece threatened to hijack the proceedings. Greece is not a member of the G-20. But Prime Minister George Papandreou's intention to put a 130 billion euro (S$227 billion) bailout plan to a national referendum kick-started a chain of events that led to European leaders making it clear that they saw the euro as more important than Greece's continued membership of the currency union.

  15. Being Hunting for a Mini Van to replace my 1992 Suzuki Swift 1.0 MT, went to test drove the Wuling Journey on the 22th June 2008. Below are my opinions, please bare in mind that I pass all this judgement based on my oberservations and experience, you need not agree. Thank you. Ride comfort: Having own minivan before, my last being Honda Mobilio 1.5 auto, ride comfort of Journey is pretty decent, as the sales person told me their luxury version will have all round sound clad, it will be even better. But the suspension feels soft on uneven road surfaces. Bodyroll is expected as of most tall vans, overall, 6 out of 10. Build: Weildings are of good workmanship, fit and finish is of good standard, it's like a japanese standard of the nineties, it actually give me a pleasant surprise considering the other minivans that i view of same origin. All gaps are consistent, cant spot any uneven fittings. Would score it 6 out of 10. Undercarriage: Feels and look well bolted together, will get tough coat for the luxury model, springs all round. No further comment. Wheels: Let's just say I will change it upon collection if i buy. Would score it 3 out of 10. Powertrain: Power comes from a 50 plus bhp suzuki engine, if it's true, I will trust it almost immediately considering my harsh treatment of my old swift powerplant. The block is located under the passenger seat. Heat from it is pretty well insulated, sound is harsh when push beyond 3500 rpm. Drive and control: Gear changing is good, gears are pretty close considering other vans that I have driven, hence it's a plus point. All controls are simple and easily access, central console looks and feels good, comes with a flushing surface factory fitted cd radio, again it's a plus. Power is decent, it's able to move 7 but i have to say that journey is best for speeds bellow 90 to really enjoy and feel less stressfull. Crash test: Cant find any and sales executive is not sure too. Doubt that it's tested. Seats arrangement: For this price, I give it a 8 out of 10, middle seats can be turned to face last row, it's well bolted down and leathers come with the luxury model. Stopping power: Tried braking hard while turning and going straight, sales executive is not pleased, wont encourage you to try as it's good for normal driving and stopping, it's not meant to be push hard, my 92 swift did better on this subject. But hey, it's a van afterall and it's expected to be driven like one. Would rate it 6 out of 10. Strong points to consider: Very good air condition, second row over head large air con vents is a plus plus plus! Comes with 3 points seat belts for 6 and one waist belt on the center last row. All doors close with a nice tug. Out look is modern and nice, like the red especially. Very affortable. Weak points: As all makes that does not have a strong presence here, reliability on parts availability and aftersales support. Overall: Will consider to trade in my swift, best mini van of same origin so far!

  20. Hey guys/gals tot u might be interested in reading this! http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=122688 The teeny Honda that dared to be big is back with a redefined package for 2008. What's this? A brand-new Honda Fit? Didn't it just arrive in America last year? Well, yes, but Japan and Europe have known about the superb Honda Fit since 2001, when it first landed in their respective showrooms and quickly set sales records. It simply took a further five years to reach us here in the U.S. as Honda struggled with the "ifs" and "buts" of introducing such a small car in America. In the end, the combination of Scion's marketing success and skyrocketing gasoline prices finally forced American Honda to bring the Honda Fit to the U.S. Now it's time for a major model change, and the new Honda Fit will be introduced at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show. About a year from now, it will reach America as the 2009 Honda Fit. Bigger in Almost Every Way Not surprisingly, the all-new 2009 Honda Fit follows the same recipe as its predecessor. Centered as before around its centrally located fuel tank

  23. 2008 Geneva: Maserati Chicane Concept http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080129.018/20...chicane-concept Designed by EID students A few masters-degree design students from the European Institute of Design in Turin have worked their magic for Maserati, who will unveil their hard work at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Maserati Chicane Concept is a 2+2 coupe and one size smaller than the Quattroporte and Granturismo, spurring on rumours of a smaller Maserati. The Chicane measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,850 mm width and 1,250 height. The Maserati Chicane Concept will draw power from a V8 and directs the torque onto the tarmac through the rear wheels. The Chicane is the brainchild of Dmytro Zyubyairov (Ukraine) and Oscar Palladino (Italy). Alongside the Chicane, another student project will be shown through a dedicated video. The Maserati Challenge was designed by a different group of students and is a 2+1 shooting brake, a 2 door station wagon with enough room in the back for bulky sports equipment.
