  1. don't want to sound xenophobic (again) but somehow i feel there's a link between the car population and government's open-door policy between 2006 and 2011 perhaps the authority should present some stats showing how many PRs and foreigners own cars in Singapore it will not really be fair to us with shrinking COEs qty and its soaring prices
  2. The video you're about to see was filmed in this year's Stockholm Open, last weekend. Lot's of speed, lot's of smoke and burnt rubber are for free! The cup was won by a blown Camaro which faced off against another Camaro. The winner received a trophy and bragging rights until next year's run. So until then enjoy!
  3. Dear All, Need to replace my damaged 2011 S60 front grill but was quoted S$650 by the agent. Checked around but no one carry any spare stock and need to wait for 2 weeks to indent and the cost is around the same (S$645). Hence checked online and found one US website supply OEM S60 grill at around S$380 (includes international shipping - around 10days). Like to check whether anyone buy Volve spare parts from voluparts.com before I pay the money thru google wallet. Thank you for the advise.
  4. The total number of accidents involving cyclists has gone down by 17 per cent between 2008 and last year. But every fatality is still one too many, said Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, as he revealed these numbers in response to MPs' questions. With this in mind, the Transport Ministry is undertaking a number of initiatives to make it safer for cyclists, he said. New dedicated cycling paths are being built in seven neighbourhoods to separate cyclists from motorists and pedestrians, and the ministry is looking to link these intra-town cycling paths so that cyclists can commute between towns. To boost education in cycling safety, the Land Transport Authority will make new "Intra-Town Cycling" handbook available soon. It lists good cycling etiquette and safety tips for cycling. The Traffic Police and Home Affairs Ministry are also studying measures to inculcate a safe road-sharing mindset among motorists and cyclists, and are reviewing cycling penalties to ensure that they reflect the severity of the offences. 5. My ride is the Elantra 2011 and I have encountered an issue when starting the engine. When I tried to start the engine, the interior meter lights and the Car Entertainment system turned on for a split second before going off again and the engine failed to start. The engine will not start when I tried to start it, throughout this time the Car Entertainment system and meter lights did not turn on. All of this is resolved when I open the car door and closed it, and everything works fine. So far I encountered this issue 3 times in the past 2 weeks. And each time it happens, I have to reprogram my settings again. Any Elantra owners out there encountered this issue?

  7. http://www.singstat.gov.sg/pubn/papers/people/pp-s18.pdf Interesting read for guys here since people like to compare salaries :) Interesting facts. 1) there is a 11% jump in median household income from 2010 to 2011 !!! Did your pay jump by 11% in 2011? 2) Median household income is only around 7k and that is including employer CPF... take home pay is probably ard 5.5k? 3) Median household income for condo is 14.6k, landed is 17.4k. So no need to ask if you can afford a condo :)
  8. Any take on this?
  9. Have been watching documentries on tv how various foreign celebs etc visited the diasaster towns and gave their words of encouragements / tangible helps etc to the victims and their families. Some of the foreigners are renowned musicians etc. Their priority seems to be trying to offer whatever helps they could. Just watched one documentry last nite showing a celeb tv host from china doing the same visit but with a difference: when asked why he made the visit, his answer: "To check if the place is still safe for tourist from mainland to visit"!!!! .... is this his priority?
  10. There were 225,550 speeding violations in 2011 - a 10 per cent increase from the year before, according to the Traffic Police. This figure was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Teo Chee Hean in his written reply to parliament in response to a question from MP for Nee Soon GRC, Lee Bee Wah. He said car drivers form the majority of speeding offenders, followed by motorcyclists and drivers of light goods vehicles, such as vans and pick-ups. Mr Teo added that this is generally consistent with their respective vehicle populations. He said traffic police enforces against speeding in a few ways, including using cameras to detect speeding violations. Mr Teo said there are 18 static speed enforcement camera locations across Singapore and they are supplemented by portable speed cameras that are deployed flexibly islandwide. Mr Teo said over the past several months, Ms Lee and her residents have expressed to traffic police on various occasions their concern about motorists speeding on a few of the arterial roads within Nee Soon GRC. He said traffic police has stepped up its enforcement actions on these roads in response and will monitor the situation closely. Mr Teo said the success in reducing the incidence of speeding requires a shared commitment, and motorists must also play their part by keeping within the speed limits at all times. 12. I have been watching the 2011 水浒传 for past 1 month. Going to finish up with last 5~6 episodes. Anyone watch it? Like it? Althought I already know the story before watching this version but I still find it very entertaining. The fighting scenes are very nice and got standard. Most of the actors played very well in their roles! The gals are pretty too. Which character you like and why?

Person A wanted to jaywalk and happily assumed that I would stay in my lane, not knowing that I intend to filter right to enter a shopping centre carpark. HE walked into the right lane, just as i was filtering right (with signal on) it was a close shave as i have to swerve. i horned very loudly at him.
