  1. [extract] The Subaru Legacy and the Legacy on stilts, the Outback has been revised for the 2013 model year. Subaru has slightly 'improved' the looks of the quirky looking large sedan and wagon by changing the front end of the cars. Both cars feature new headlights, grille and bumper. The new look seems to suit the Legacy better with its Audi-esque bumper (but still slightly awkward) but the Subaru Outback still looks dumpy and awkward to me. Other styling changes are limited to the interior
  2. The first image showing the 2013 Ferrari 620 GT completely in the buff has leaked to GTspirit.com. According to GTspirit, the F620 GT will produce 740hp from its 6.3 liter V12 engine. 0-100km/h transpires in 3.0 seconds dead, 0-200km/h in 8.5 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the Lamborghini Aventador, and top speed is in excess of 340km/h (211mph). Following two teaser videso from the past few days, Ferrari has only told us that the 599 successor is the "most powerful Ferrari ever," and its "technological innovations will reach new heights - as a new era of extreme V12 cars dawns." The Ferrari 620 GT will be revealed on February 29. Source: gtspirit.com

  4. After months of speculation, Daimler has reportedly decided to phase out Maybach. Citing high-ranking sources, Autocar is reporting Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche will axe the brand in order to focus more attention on Mercedes. As one insider commented, "We've come to the conclusion that it is better to cut our losses with Maybach than to continue into an uncertain future with a brand that has failed to live up to original sales expectations." If everything pans out, the last Maybachs will be built in early 2013. To fill the gap, Mercedes will reportedly offer a new S600 Pullman. Source: AutoCar

  10. According to a recent report, Saab will launch five new models by the end of 2013. On sale later this year, the redesigned 9-5 sedan will attempt to establish Saab as a legitimate player in the mid-size luxury segment. It faces an uphill battle against established players such as the A6 and 5 series but has sleek styling, a long wheelbase, and a modern interior. In 2011, Saab will launch the 9-5 Estate and the 9-4X crossover. The latter shares underpinnings with the Cadillac SRX and will be produced in Mexico. Unlike the 9-7X, the 9-4X will be available in Europe. A year later in 2012, the Swedish automaker will introduce the redesigned 93. Expected to be offered as a three- and five-door hatchback, the 93 will ride on a modified version of the Epsilon I platform with parts sourced from various automakers instead of GM parts bin. Last but not least, Saab will introduce the highly-anticipated 92 in 2013. It will ride on another automaker's platform and feature styling inspired by the original 92. It is expected to be slightly more expensive than the MINI Cooper.
  11. If a report from Japan's Best Car is to be believed, Toyota will delay the release of the FT-86 from 2011 to 2013. The reasons behind the delay are varied, and include a different design direction, the economic slowdown and possibly a revised powertrain strategy that could include some kind of hybrid motivation. As reported previously, the original FT-86 concept was just that
  12. F1 teams are close to agreeing upon a new engine formula for the six-year period beginning in 2013. Until then, development of the current 2.4 litre V8s will remain 'frozen', to be replaced thereafter by similarly powerful engines that use less fuel, emit less pollution and are affordable for the small teams. Spain's El Mundo Deportivo newspaper said an in-principle agreement has been reached for a four cylinder, 1.5 litre engine equipped with a twin-turbo and direct injection. The new formula would reportedly also involve KERS. "If F1 has to develop something helpful for real (road) driving conditions, then the best solution is for an engine that is turbocharged and GDI (gasoline direct injection," Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa told Autocar magazine at the Beijing Motor Show. "That is what we would support," he said. Mercedes' Norbert Haug agrees that smaller engines are likely for reasons of consumption and emissions, but warns that high technology needs to remain a crucial focus. "If you fly from Europe to Japan on a 747, you would use more fuel than an entire F1 season. We need to see the whole picture," he insisted.
  13. Bugatti will start production of the 16 C Galibier Concept hyper sedan in 2013, so says a report from Autocar. The report quotes an unnamed source who claims that because of the recession, Bugatti, being the smallest but most exclusive in the VW Group, had not taken priority at high-level discussions. But that is about to change, thanks to a positive reaction to the 16 C Galibier during select motor shows and customer events. Apparently it is just a matter of time before authorisation papers for its manufacture are signed and the wheels to full production start rolling. Like the mind-bending Veyron, this four-door
  14. BMW will be cancelling the BMW M3 Sedan when the next generation 3-series, codenamed F30, is released, according to Automobile Magazine. The company will continue to sell the M3 as both a coupe and convertible, with each getting a straight-six 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 450 horsepower (336 kW, 456 PS). In addition, the magazine says that the company will put the 3er Gran Turismo on the market from March 2013. That date coincides with the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The GT will be one of five body styles for the car, including the sedan, wagon, coupe, and convertible, all due out between March 2012 and 2014. A shooting brake variant could also be released down the line. Like the wagon, the GT3 is expected to get a long wheelbase providing more cargo space and legroom. A panoramic sliding glass roof may also be optionally available for both vehicles. For the 3-Series, BMW will use four cylinder petrol and diesel engines that are both more powerful and fuel efficient than previous models. Engines range from 136 horsepower (101 kW, 138 PS) to 252 hp (188 kW, 256 PS).
