  1. New 2018 BMW X2 SUV revealedhttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/x2/93141/new-2018-bmw-x2-suv-revealed Based on the X1, the BMW X2 crossover will slot in beneath the X3 to provide another premium SUV offering BMW is aiming to fill yet another niche within the ever-growing ranks of premium SUVs with its latest creation: the X2. It has now been revealed in full – ahead of its launch next month. The X2 is designed to slot in between the entry-level front-drive-based X1 and the larger X3, as a model that focuses more on style than outright practicality. It shares many of its mechanicals with the X1, as well as the MINI Countryman. That means it uses BMW’s UKL2 platform – a chassis that restricts the car to four-cylinder engines but still offers the possibility of four-wheel drive on high-end models and, in theory, plug-in hybrid powertrains. The newcomer sticks admirably close to the looks of the Concept X2 seen at 2016’s Paris Motor Show. It has the same wheelbase as the X1, but shorter overhangs for a dynamic look. Perhaps more significantly, its roofline is a full 70mm lower, making the X2 more of a hatchback than a coupé-SUV. The 470-litre boot is 35 litres smaller than the X1’s. Other concept car touches to make production include the swept-back lights, the rising window line (incorporating BMW’s signature Hofmeister kink), the ultra-slim hatchback glass and even the BMW badge inset into the C-pillar. Basic SE models get 17-inch wheels, but more expensive trim levels will be available with 20-inch rims. Despite the platform’s capability, there’s no sign of electrification in the X2 launch line-up. Its range will comprise the two-wheel-drive, petrol-engined sDrive20i, and a pair of four-wheel-drive diesels, badged xDrive20d and xDrive25d. The sDrive20i has 228bhp and 450Nm, and is available only with a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch auto transmission. It covers 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds, and emits between 126 and 134g/km of CO2 depending on wheel size. The diesels are both equipped with an eight-speed auto box. The xDrive20d has 188bhp and 400Nm, but emits between 121 and 126g/km of CO2, while the xDrive25d produces 228bhp and 450Nm, and emits between 133 and 139g/km. BMW has already confirmed that further engines will join the line-up in early 2018 – two more petrols, and a pair of diesels. The entry-level 138bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol sDrive18i will join the four-wheel-drive xDrive20i, which has 189bhp. The diesels will be the 148bhp sDrive18d and xDrive18d; the front-drive edition of that variant will be the most efficient X2, with CO2 emissions as low as 119g/km. The car will be offered in SE, Sport, M Sport and M Sport X specs; the latter command a £3,550 and £4,350 premium over SE models respectively. SE features sat-nav, dual-zone climate control and a power tailgate, while Sport has sports seats and LED lights. M Sport variants get larger wheels and body-coloured side skirts, and M Sport X versions switch some of the design details to grey, for a more off-road-biased look. Confusingly, M Sport and M Sport X models are 10mm lower than regular X2s. Inside, the X2 gets familiar BMW cues, including iDrive and a 6.5-inch infotainment display that’s standard across the range, but which can be upgraded to a similarly sized Touch Control set-up, or an 8.8-inch screen with the same features. A head-up display will also be offered, as an option, along with WiFi hotspot preparation. Apple CarPlay will also be an extra, however, and Android Auto won’t be available.

  3. Let me starts the discussion here as the other thread discussion on funnelling of funds. Malaysian government declares polling day a public holiday KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's federal government has declared May 9, polling day, a public holiday. This is to allow all Malaysians to fulfil their responsibilities as voters, said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement on Wednesday (Apr 11). “The declaration on the public holiday is made based on Section 8 of the Public Holidays Act 1951 for Peninsular Malaysia and the Labuan Federal Territory,” said the statement. The Malaysian Election Commission had on Tuesday announced dates for nomination and polling day for the country's 14th general election. Many had expressed concern that having the vote on a Wednesday, Malaysia's first weekday poll in nearly two decades, would affect turnout at the ballot boxes. Malaysians had reacted to announcement of the weekday polling date by taking to social media to offer transportation and funds to those who wanted to return to their hometowns to cast their ballots. Several Malaysian companies on Tuesday also declared May 9 a holiday for staff. Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/malaysia-election-polling-day-public-holiday-10127468

  10. At the price point of a Golf GTi, its going to sell in big numbers Using Land rover chassis and FWD. Wonder how the new Volvo XC60 will be able to compete. But based on reliability, going by Land Rover , its going to be difficult to convenience the type of buyers with deep pocket who treasure convenience and time.
  11. Looks like the hot Hatch category getting interesting next Year You Have the Renault RS which is zero to 100 in about 5.7 to 6 sec New engine. Not as ricey as the Civic and tamer. Functional Diffuser. 4 Wheel Steering, which may not be everyone's liking. Hopefully, they nail it this time round. Its downsize to 1.8T instead of 2.0 T so I suspect no replacement for displacement means the 150 to 200 kmh range will be slower on the straight. Comes stock at 280 bhp while GTi is 235 bhp. vs Civic 308 bhp. Let see what kind of prices. If the number falls in the 145 to 155 K range, probably have very good takeup rate.
  12. Hi all, anyone has any idea where I can get the Hyundai Elantra 2018 cruise control panel that is supposedly on the steering wheel?
  13. Following Skoda with it new Octavia, the new Jetta seems to be much larger than the existing model, and likely to hit close to 4.7m in length. Design wise, I am seeing hints of Audi (headlight), Honda (grille) Ford (C pillar) and Hyundai (taillight). Hopefully the car look better in metal, just like the current B8 Passat. Photos were rumored to be taken at VW Mexico manufacturing facilities. In case you still don't believe this is the new Jetta, but some other VW model for Brazil or China, here are some spy shots of the new Jetta taken earlier.

  22. Folks, here are the 10 nominees for this year's prestigious award:- https://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/race-is-on Tell me what you think, your views, feedback and some debate would be interesting. You can cast your vote online and ST will reveal the champion on 29 DEC 2018. Sadly, not all cars that were produced in 2018 is in this shortlist. If it was up to me, I would consider ownership depreciation, reliability and NVH. Therefore, I would pick KIA Stinger as the obvious winner. For it's price of having a RWD terrain and a wonderful gearbox, not to mention it's handsome and muscular looks and with a size bigger than the 3 series or Jag XE,it is the most affordable grand tourer/sport sedan in the market right now. Cheers!
  23. Indonesia tsunami: Death toll rises to 222, hundreds more injured JAKARTA: Indonesia's disaster agency said 222 people were dead and hundreds more injured after a tsunami struck coastal areas around the Sunda Strait between the islands of Sumatra and Java on Saturday (Dec 22) night. "222 people are dead, 843 people are injured and 28 people are missing," Indonesia's national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on Sunday evening. "This number is predicted to increase because not all victims have been successfully evacuated, not all health centres have reported victims and not all locations have got complete data." He said that all the casualties were Indonesian citizens, with no foreign national casualties reported. The victims and damage occurred across four affected districts, namely in the Pandeglang, Serang, South Lampung and Tanggamus regencies, he added. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed by the wave, which hit the coast of southern Sumatra and the western tip of Java about 9.30 pm (1430 GMT) following the eruption of a volcano known as the "child" of the legendary Krakatoa, national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said. 24. SINGAPORE: It's that time of the year where you spot random people toting giant plush toys on the MRT. That's right, the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is back in town, offering more than the chance to win an over-sized toy unicorn, a rainbow lion or a pug with doe eyes. The carnival - touted as Singapore's biggest - opened its doors to the public on Saturday (Dec 22) with 22 rides, three of them new. Notably, prices for most rides have been lowered this year, with the exception of that for the Mach 5 which is priced at 14 tokens. And if you’re worried about long lines, here's a quick cheat sheet on what's worth the wait. 1. Freak Out/Spring Break A new addition to the carnival, this ride starts off easy, but at full throttle, it’s a heart-stopping thrill. Not knowing which or what way you’ll be spinning, while plunging down face-forward definitely adds to the exhilaration. Just remember to keep your game face on at all times – the ride's seating arrangement allows full view of your fellow riders and their scream faces. 2. Wave Swinger This new ride is as family friendly as they come. It was flown in from Italy for the first time to Southeast Asia and features mural panels of iconic Singapore landmarks such as Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands. But be warned, it quickens to an exciting spin after a couple of slow and steady beginning rounds. Perfect reason for dating couples to cling on to each other. 3. Jumper Jumper An experience that would make 90s hip-hop duo Kris Kross so proud, this turned out to be the most unexpected ride of the lot. Incredibly harmless to start before descending into a series of stomach-churning twists, turns and giant hops. Imagine jumping and spinning around on an office chair. 4. The Star Flyer No visit to the carnival is complete without an Insta-friendly shot of the neon-lit Star Flyer which rises almost poetically amongst the steely backdrop of CBD buildings. It moves at a slower pace than the Wave Swinger. 5. Mach 5 Still the most expensive ride in the carnival at 14 tokens, but definitely worth going on for a stomach-dropping spin. Hop on the impressive 55m-tall monster mechanical arm for a great view of Singapore at its peak, before plunging down at 130 kmh and finishing off with 360-degree flips. Pro-tip: Don’t gorge at the food stands before you get on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Llhmk5_tF8I 6. S$3 million worth of carnival prizes Tossing a ring on a bottle, flinging a hoop over a Carebear or knocking a trio of milk jugs down with a ball – it all sounds easy but let's just say the games look deceptively simple. They actually require some strategy, skill and a whole lot of luck. If you do manage to score a giant unicorn or banana plushie, a Yoda doll or a sequinned doughnut – remember to hoist it on your shoulders so everyone knows you're a champion. There's also a grand lucky draw with a S$10,000 prize. 7. Food, glorious food The food on offer isn't your usual carnival fare of hot dogs, candy floss and popcorn. You can get a bucket of meatballs (chicken or beef) from Sofnade heaped on twister fries and potato mash topped with cheese sauce and cranberry (S$12) or a bucket of milk tea or lemonade (S$7). There's also an assortment of churros flavours – ondeh ondeh, Oreo, chilli crab, salted egg from Loco Loco (S$6 a cup). For those who need a bigger carb-hit, SingaIndo serves up various Indomie dishes including Aburi shrimp mentaiko, a super-spicy sambal gila, Thai basil and cheesy cheese. The carnival will be open from 4pm to 11pm daily save Jan 18, Jan 24 and Feb 15, 2019 and runs all the way till Mar 24. It is just a stone's throw away from Bayfront MRT station.
