  1. A Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill was passed in Parliament on Nov.19. With this being passed, Singaporeans can expect to pay GST for overseas services in 2020, including that of digital services such as Netflix and Spotify. This means that business-to-consumer services will have to register via an overseas vendor registration regime imposed on them. Criteria for businesses to be taxed Other companies providing video and music streaming services, mobile applications and software may also be affected. According to the second reading speech on the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill by Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, such companies will have to register if they meet the two-tier criteria of: Having a global annual turnover of S$1 million or more Making sales of digital services of at least S$100,000 to Singapore consumers. The tax is expected to bring in an additional S$90 million of tax revenue every year. This comes as part of new rules to protect local retailers, by ensuring “both imported and local services are treated on a level playing field and accorded the same GST treatment.” Reverse Charge mechanism Between businesses, a “Reverse Charge mechanism” would be implemented instead. Instead of having the business or company based overseas accounting for the GST, the GST for goods and services would be accounted for by the local importing company. This would not affect a large number of businesses, however, as businesses which can claim a full refund of the GST they incur on their purchases, including imported services would not have this mechanism applied to them. It is slated to “affect mainly financial institutions and residential property developers” – those who were unable to have a full GST refund in the first place. How much more would I have to pay for my Netflix? As per the Goods and Services Tax Act, the rate of GST would be 7%. It was previously announced during Budget that GST would be raised to 9% some time 2021 and 2025.

  3. Polestar has taken the next step in its development as the electric performance brand with the reveal of the new Polestar 2. Polestar 2 is the new all-electric fastback that brings electric performance cars to a broader and increasingly progressive audience. It offers avant-garde design and a unique customer experience in the premium compact electric segment. Polestar 2 is the first electric car to compete in the marketplace around the Tesla Model 3, with the range starting at a guide price of 39,900 euros. For the first 12 months of production, guide price of the launch edition is 59,900 euros. "Polestar 2 is our first fully electric car and first volume model. Everything about it has been designed and engineered with passion and dedication. As an electric performance brand, and through the forthcoming launch of a portfolio of fully electric cars, Polestar is determined to address the world's air quality challenges. Polestar delivers electric performance cars that are great to own and drive," says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar. Polestar 2 is a premium five-door fastback with two electric motors and a 78 kWh battery capacity that will enable a targeted range of 500 km, based on Volvo Car Group's adaptable Compact Modular Architecture platform (CMA). The 27-module battery pack is integrated into the floor and contributes to the rigidity of the chassis as well as improves the car's noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels - road noise has been reduced by 3.7 dB compared to a traditional chassis. Polestar will answer the important question of charging Polestar 2 with a smart, convenient and extensive approach. With a connected digital solution available both in-car and on mobile devices, Polestar is setting up strategic collaborations to give Polestar 2 owners easy and hassle-free access to the world's largest public charging networks. For Polestar, performance underlies the entire driving experience. The all-wheel drive electric powertrain in Polestar 2 produces 300 kW (408 hp) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft). This translates to a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of less than 5 seconds. The standard dynamic chassis can be enhanced by the Performance Pack that improves driving dynamics with Öhlins dampers, Brembo brakes and unique 20-inch forged wheels. Polestar's signature gold seat belts, brake callipers and valve caps complete the performance visuals. Highlighting the technology spearhead role that Polestar plays within the Volvo Car Group, Polestar 2 is one of the first cars in the world to embed an infotainment system powered by Android. The Android backbone provides a solid and adaptable digital environment for apps and vehicle functions to coexist, and brings embedded Google services to a car for the first time - including the Google Assistant, Google Maps with support for electric vehicles and the Google Play Store. Natural voice control and a new 11-inch touch screen display bring the new interface to life. Phone-as-Key technology enables car sharing and a more integrated ownership experience, as well as Polestar's connected services such as pick-up and delivery. It also allows Polestar 2 to sense the driver upon approach. Smart features like enlarged graphics in the instrument cluster allow the driver to easily see the charging status and range before entering the car. Polestar 2 can also predetermine the driver's next move to create a seamless experience with a prepared cabin and quick start sequence. Maximilian Missoni, head of Design at Polestar, comments: "We decided to bring something different to the segment. Our avant-garde design has evolved from Polestar 1 into an edgier, bolder statement. We have also designed a standard vegan interior with progressive textiles that will appeal to the forward-thinking audience who will subscribe to Polestar 2." Design-led features include Pixel LED headlights and proximity lighting which enable a unique welcome sequence, Polestar's now-signature frameless side mirrors and the unique illuminated Polestar logo, which is reflected onto the car's panoramic glass roof. In common with all Polestar cars, Polestar 2 will only be available for ordering online. The guide purchase price for the launch version of Polestar 2 is 59,900 euros with subscription pricing to follow at a later date. Pre-orders are open at polestar.com. Production of Polestar 2 begins in early 2020 in China for global markets in both left- and right-hand drive. Polestar 2 will make its first public appearance at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show in March, and then embark on a global roadshow in Europe, North America and China throughout 2019. Polestar 2 will also be available in a network of soon-to-be-opened Polestar Spaces that will provide physical viewing and test drive opportunities. Initial launch markets include China, the United States, Canada, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK. Other markets are under consideration for future expansion.

As an exclusive alternative to the classic saloon, the four-door coupe addresses all target groups that prefer a sophisticated design and a self-assured look in the compact segment as well. Some video & spy shots to quench your thirst.
  5. And now, the ongoing competition is to see who has the largest... ... screen. Automakers seem to have moved on from the horsepower wars and are now focusing their attention on a new kind of contest. Judging from car launches in recent years, it looks like there’s a race for the title of the largest infotainment screen fitted to an automobile. Mercedes-Benz is committed to taking part in this race; just look at the humongous center screen that the all-new 2020 S-Class will have. These are the very first spy shots of the luxury sedan’s portrait-style center screen which is the size of China. We don’t know exactly how big it is, but since the digital instrument panel is wider than on the current S-Class, the center display is at least as wide and significantly longer. From this distance, it seems even bigger than the iPad Pro 12.9, the world’s largest tablet computer. Look closely and you’ll notice some physical buttons at the bottom of the screen. They control the driving modes, hazard lights, volume, on/off, and some other functions we can’t decipher. Most functions will be accessible via the center touchscreen. Besides the digital instrument panel and the infotainment display, the rest of the cabin is still covered. On the outside, it’s pretty clear that the S-Class prototype features the production headlights and taillights. However, their shapes remain unknown given the heavy camouflage. The 2020 S-Class will arrive next year with Level 3 semi-autonomous driving tech, which is a step above Level 2 systems such as Tesla’s Autopilot and Cadillac’s Super Cruise. The flagship sedan will reportedly feature hybrid-only versions using the latest 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter straight-six gasoline and diesel engines. The PHEV versions are expected to offer all-electric driving ranges of up to 62 miles (100 km). The S-Class is also said to debut a new 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with a fully variable torque split between the axles, as well as an active suspension that will work together with a 48-volt system and a stereo camera scanning the road ahead. Besides the S-Class, Mercedes is also developing an all-electric EQ S luxury sedan that will use a new MEA platform different from the S-Class’ updated MRA architecture.
  6. The 2020 Kia Telluride Three-Row SUV Is Big, Boxy, and Bold https://www.caranddriver.com/news/2020-kia-telluride-three-row-suv-photos-info Kia is going big with its new Telluride three-row SUV, both literally and figuratively. It will be the biggest crossover in Kia’s lineup, positioned above the (also three-row) Sorento. Upon this larger canvas Kia has painted bold styling that deviates little from that of the bold Telluride concept car from a few years ago. Final details are forthcoming, but Kia says the Telluride is several inches longer and wider than the Sorento. It’ll hold up to eight people, while the Sorento can only hold seven between its two front seats, three-across second-row bench, and its admittedly tight two-place third-row seat. That means you can expect the Telluride's third row to accommodate three humans, although don't rule out a seven-seat version with captain's chairs in the second row. Beyond its extra size, the Telluride also is far more distinctive than the Sorento, with interesting head- and taillight designs and a boxy, truck-like silhouette. Disregard a few of the custom off-road-y bits seen on this particular vehicle—including all-terrain tires, beefy bumpers, an intake snorkel, a roof rack, and a hatch-mounted spare tire—as it’s simply a modified version of the production car debuting at New York Fashion Week. The Kia's styling is so truck-like and bold, in fact, that you could be forgiven for thinking it's an old-school, body-on-frame SUV along the lines of Chevrolet's Tahoe or GMC's Yukon. Nonetheless, we suspect that the Telluride rides on a front-wheel-drive-based unibody platform, likely one that will be shared with a new three-row Hyundai SUV rumored to be called the Palisade. That it will be built at the same Georgia plant where Kia assembles the unibody Sorento serves as more evidence against the idea that this SUV is body-on-frame like the Borrego SUV that Kia sold for a brief while about ten years ago. Kia says the Telluride will use a V-6 engine but offers no specifics beyond that, leaving us guessing as to whether it'll be the same naturally aspirated 3.3-liter found in the Sorento or possibly a more powerful twin-turbocharged version of the same engine like that in the Stinger. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive seem like sure bets, at least. Inside, the Fashion Week–ified Telluride boasts a few unique bits of trim, including special leather and wood trim that won’t see production. Otherwise, the cabin isn’t likely to change all that much before it goes on sale early next year. Some spy pictures.
  7. Tokyo 2020's Hashimoto rules out Games postponement -report The president of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee ruled out a cancellation or another postponement of the Olympic Games in an interview with Nikkan Sports newspaper, amid concerns about hosting the event during a global pandemic. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sport/tokyo-2020-s-hashimoto-rules-out-games-postponement--report-14937370
  8. The new Defender is being featured in more and more teasers by Land Rover to generate more buzz. It’s not your typical shadowy teaser image as the adjacent photo gallery was shot in Africa where a near-production prototype had to go through some serious hurdles in Kenya. Together with British non-profit organization Tusk Trust, the resurrected off-road SUV was used across the 14,000-hectare Borana Conservancy by wildlife managers to support conservation operations. Approximately two and a half years have passed since the last old-school Defender was built at the factory in Solihull, and we’re now just a few months away from its completely new successor. Land Rover will allegedly unveil the next-gen model in September and will have the iconic off-roader on sale soon. Like its predecessor, the revamped Defender will spawn a great variety of derivatives, from barebones off-roaders to luxurious and powerful versions in a bid to lure in a wider clientele. We’ve spotted it multiple times in short- and long-wheelbase configurations, but we’ve also been hearing rumors of a pickup truck with a single cab setup among other versions.
  9. The 2020 Hyundai Palisade: This Could Be the Answer to Hyundai's SUV Prayers https://jalopnik.com/the-2020-hyundai-palisade-this-could-be-it-1830381809 Crossovers and SUVs dominate the car world now, bloating lineups like the first meal on a long-awaited vacation. But one of the few places it’s still acceptable to say a company lacks in big, bulky vehicles is with Hyundai and the eight-passenger SUV—a problem that’ll be solved with the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Hyundai plans to debut the Palisade at the Los Angeles Auto Show in two weeks before it goes on sale in mid 2019, as cars labeled with the following year often do. But Russian website Auto Review might have beat the company to the big surprise: The site posted a photo of what it claims to be the Palisade Saturday, and it sure does fit the typical manufacturer photo style. The Auto Review story talked mainly about the SUV, not mentioning this was a potential early reveal or where the author got the photo. But it did say a lot of things we already know, like how Hyundai’s grand, eight-seat plan to appeal to upper-middle-class families with kids who are all in three sports and get better grades than you ever did in school is reminiscent of the Hyundai Grandmaster SUV concept from earlier this year. The full-size SUV is a big void for Hyundai globally, with its seat counts in passenger cars currently topping out at seven. The Palisade, if this is it, looks surprisingly better the Grandmaster concept did. That’s usually not the case with concept and production cars. Hyundai officially announced the name of the Palisade last week, calling it the company’s new flagship SUV and saying the name is based on an “affluent and beautiful neighborhood in Southern California.” The announcement didn’t say anything else about the Palisade, other than the usual mentions of “premium materials,” “cargo space for growing modern families” and its “bold exterior.” It’s hard to deny that “bold exterior” claim, though, if this is the actual SUV. Even without interior photos to look at, the Palisade fits right in with the other giant, eight-seater SUVs that scream “We have a 3,000-square-foot house and make a comfortable-enough income to take our children and their friends skiing every year” without having to say anything at all. In other words, it looks like an automatic competitor in the luxury SUV segment, which was surely the goal. As for whether this is the Palisade, Carscoops described the Auto Review post as “what looks like a classic case of breaking the news embargo”—an agreement where news is given early on the condition that the information in it won’t be shared until a certain time. Jalopnik doesn’t get embargoes due to our policy not to honor them, so we wouldn’t know if the photo were under embargo. Some searching around didn’t give any more concrete answers on where the photo might have come from or if it might just be a render, and Hyundai would not confirm or deny the photo on the website when asked about it by Jalopnik. But if this is the car that shows up at the LA Auto Show in a couple of weeks, good on Hyundai. It’s not another crossover simply to toss a new design at the crossover-crazed masses, and it’s not some attempt to make an SUV into a sports car. This is an SUV designed to slot into its market naturally and not make a scene, which makes it the perfect candidate to carry middle-class families to their annual ski trips when it comes on the market next year.
  10. just received a renewal notice from ICA for my son's passport. question : is there any difference if i renew now (before expiry), or apply new when this pandemic is over ? i don't think we will be seeing the light at then end of the tunnel so soon also.
  11. This is NOT the standard Q3, but the BMW X2 rival, a coupe style SUV. Audi is adding a compact SUV in coupé shape to its model range: the Audi Q3 Sportback. The new model combines the strong presence and versatile everyday convenience of an SUV with the sporty elegance and agile handling of a coupé. This makes it the first compact crossover of the Audi brand. Low roofline, muscular body: the design The Audi Q3 Sportback stands for strength and precision to an equal degree, and reflects this in all design details. The black grille of the octagonal Singleframe is strongly three-dimensional in design, and this makes it particularly sporty. The same applies for the trapezoidal air inlets and the expressive bumper with its flat blade. The coupé-like passenger cabin acts as a contrast to the distinctive attachments, which are painted in contrasting colors and thus emphasize the SUV character. The low roofline gives way to flat D-pillars and ends in a roof edge spoiler. As a result, the Audi Q3 Sportback appears much longer than its sister model Q3. In addition, the SUV-coupé is almost three centimeters flatter, and thus has a more muscular appearance. Above the wheels, strong contours draw attention to the quattro drive, which comes as standard with most engines. Many light and shadow effects arise on the plastic-formed rear. The low window, flanked by aero trims, and the sporty bumper, which takes up the look of the air inlets, emphasize the width of the Audi Q3 Sportback. The reversing lights contribute to this as well: they run inwards in a tapered shape, just like the flat headlights. Audi supplies the latter in three versions up to Matrix LED technology, whose adaptive high beam intelligently illuminates the road as best suits the driving situation. Sporty on and off the road: the suspension The Audi Q3 Sportback offers driving fun on various terrains. In the city, on long-haul routes, or on easy terrain - the compact crossover is a dynamic all-rounder. It features progressive steering as standard, whose gear ratio becomes increasingly direct as the steering angle increases, and the sport suspension. On request, the suspension is available with damper control, which further increases the range between dynamism and comfort. Depending on the driving situation, road condition, and personal preferences, the driver can vary the car's characteristics via the standard dynamic handling system, Audi drive select, in six profiles, including the offroad mode. In addition to the engine and transmission set-up, this system also influences the electronically adjustable shock absorbers and the steering assistance. As an option, the hill descent control can offer support: it keeps the speed selected by the driver constant on an incline greater than 6%. TFSI, TDI, S tronic, quattro: the drive For the market launch in Europe, a gasoline and a diesel engine are available for selection for the Audi Q3 Sportback. With 169 kW (230 metric hp), the 2.0 TFSI is the most powerful engine. The 2.0 TDI has an output of 110 kW (150 metric hp). Shortly after market launch, it will also be available as a manual transmission with a quattro drive. Additional engines will follow in the course of the year, including a more powerful diesel and an entry-level gasoline engine, which works together with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. During deceleration, it recovers energy; during acceleration from low speeds, it supports the engine. In real-life driving, it can save up to 0.4 l of fuel per 100 km (62.1 mi). In the top engines, the quattro all-wheel drive takes on the job of force transmission as standard. Its central component is a hydraulic multi-plate clutch on the rear axle. Its electronic management combines outstanding stability and strong traction with a high level of driving enjoyment. At the limits of performance, the quattro drive works closely together with the wheel-selective torque control, It makes handling even more dynamic and stable by means of gentle brake interventions on the inside wheels with the quattro drive and the inside front wheel with the front drive. Variable comfort: Interior and space concept The Audi Q3 Sportback is 4.50 m (14.8 ft) long, 1.84 m (6.0 ft) wide and 1.56 m (5.1 ft) high; its wheelbase measures 2.68 m (8.8 ft). This results in a large and highly variable interior. The rear seats offer space for three people. They can be moved 130 mm (5.1 in) longitudinally as standard; their backrests are divided into three sections, and their inclination can be adjusted in seven stages. The volume of the luggage compartment ranges from 530 l (18.7 cu ft) to 1,400 l (49.4 cu ft). The loading floor can be adjusted to two levels, and the rear shelf is located beneath it. As an option, Audi will deliver an electric tailgate that can also be opened and closed with a foot motion. The front seats - electrically adjustable and heated on request - offer a sporty position and a high level of comfort. Depending on the equipment, there are sport seats with contrasting stitching and colored stripes along the side panels. In addition, Alcantara surfaces on the instrument panel and the armrests emphasize the progressive design philosophy. In the dark, the optional contour/ambient lighting package sets lighting accents with its 30 selectable colors. Digital world: Displays and operation The operating and display concept proves how Audi is pushing ahead with digitalization: Even the basic equipment includes a digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch screen diagonal, which the driver operates using the multifunction steering wheel. In the top-of-the-line system, MMI navigation plus, the displays appear in the Audi virtual cockpit, which offers many additional functions. A touch display measuring 10.1 inches is positioned in the center of the instrument panel. When a function is selected, it emits acoustic feedback. Just like in the brand's full-size class models, it is surrounded by wide, high-gloss black trim. Together with the air-conditioning control unit located beneath it, the display is ergonomically tilted 10° towards the driver. On request, the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus is available with three selectable layouts, including a particularly dynamic view. The flat menu structure is complemented by a control unit that uses natural language and can also understand free wordings. Entering a navigation destination and the MMI search are based on free text input. The system recognizes the driver's most frequent destinations based on previous journeys, allowing it to generate suitable suggestions. When doing so, it takes into consideration statistical empirical values regarding the traffic load and time of day. Comprehensive networking: Infotainment and Audi connect Together with MMI navigation plus, the online services of Audi connect are made available on board at LTE Advanced speed via a permanently installed SIM card. This includes, for example, online traffic information and the online points of interest service, which complements route guidance with photos, opening hours, and user evaluations. Thanks to the inter-connectivity of the Audi fleet, the Q3 Sportback receives and provides information about parking spaces on the roadside, hazard areas, and speed limits, which are detected via the on-board camera and vehicle sensors. Traffic light information is a new feature among the Car-to-X services. The car receives data from a city's traffic computer, as a result of which the driver receives information about traffic light phases in the Audi virtual cockpit. This allows drivers to adjust their speed pre-emptively, which increases efficiency and improves traffic flow. This offering is initially available in individual European cities and will be gradually extended depending on the infrastructure in the urban area. Another new feature is the cloud-based Amazon voice service Alexa, which streams music and audio books and also offers access to more than 80,000 Alexa Skills. Navigation with Google Earth™ and the hybrid radio, which automatically switches between FM, DAB and online streaming depending on the reception conditions, also form part of the Audi connect navigation & infotainment plus package. The voice control system uses the detailed knowledge in the cloud to answer the driver's questions and commands. The free myAudi App and the Audi smartphone interface ensure interconnectivity between the car and smartphone. This integrates Android and iOS cell phones into the on-board infotainment system. The content of the smartphone is shown in the MMI display via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and no cables are required if the top infotainment system is used with an iPhone. The Audi phone box and the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with virtual 3D sound round off this comprehensive offer. Outstanding in any situation: the assist systems In the Audi Q3 Sportback, four standard systems are used for safety. These include the lane departure warning and the lane change warning. While the former helps the driver to remain in the lane, the latter points out critical situations when changing lanes, such as if there is a vehicle in the blind spot. The series scope in Germany also includes Audi pre sense front. If a head-on collision is imminent, it outputs a visual, acoustic, and haptic warning to the driver. In an emergency, it causes full braking and initiates the Audi pre sense basic safety measures. This involves tightening the front seat belts, closing the windows and the optional sliding roof, and activating the hazard warning lights. The adaptive cruise assist is a highlight of the optional systems. It takes the burden off the driver during longitudinal and lateral guidance. Ultra-modern systems such as the 360 degree cameras offer assistance with parking and maneuvering. They show the direct surroundings of the SUV coupé on the MMI display, and the driver can choose from several perspectives. The park assist automatically guides the car into and out of parking spaces. If, for example, the driver wants to back out of an entrance, the rear cross traffic assist warns about approaching vehicles that the system classifies as critical. Available commercially from fall onwards: Market launch and edition model Delivery of the Audi Q3 Sportback in Europe will start in the fall 2019. In Germany, the price for the 35 TDI S tronic is €40,200, while the 45 TFSI quattro S tronic is available from a starting price of €46,200. An exclusive edition model in two designs accompanies the market launch, Depending on their paint finishes, they are called "edition one dew silver" and "edition one mythos black." In both models, the exterior is based on the S line and the black styling package. Dark decorative panels in the matrix LED headlights and 20-inch wheels make for an even sportier look. The interior features a silver edition model with the noble interior design selection and bright colors, while the black model is based on the dark interior S line, supplemented by blue Alcantara areas on the instrument panel and the armrests in the doors.

  14. Have to admit that this Asskana Arkana is damn sexy. Truly a French affair. Groupe Renault confirms its desire to break the rules and become the first general vehicle maker to offer an international Coupé SUV. The production version of Arkana is an all-new C-segment (4.54 m) model with an innovative, distinctive design. Built at the Moscow plant and on sale from this summer on the Russian market, it will contribute to the worldwide expansion of Groupe Renault as part of its strategic Drive the Future plan. Combining the elegance of a saloon, the sportiness of a coupé and the robustness of an SUV, the Arkana show-car impressed everyone when it was unveiled at the 2018 Moscow Motor Show. The external design of the production version of the Arkana Coupé SUV differs only slightly from the show-car. It retains the sloping roof line, very high waistline and wide, expressive bumper. The chrome components on the grill and around the windows and C-Shape LED headlights embody the DNA of Renault design, to highlight its elegant appearance. When it goes on the market in summer 2019, the All-New Renault Arkana Coupé SUV will be offered in a range of 7 bodywork colours and 3 finish levels. It will be fitted with 17-inch tyres. A modern, comfortable interior Inside, the Renault Arkana Coupé SUV is all about space, quality, modernity and comfort, due, amongst other features, to materials that are pleasant to the touch, a new multimedia system and the MULTI-SENSE settings. The central console is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen interface for the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system, which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Yandex Auto. The driver can personalise many of the components with practical, easy-to-use apps. Renault Arkana also has the benefit of MULTI-SENSE technology, which gives the driver a choice of three driving modes (Eco, Sport, My sense) and 8 ambience colours. This Coupé SUV is fitted with ideal equipment for winter driving - the steering wheel and driver and front passenger's seats are heated. The boot has a dual lighting system and the folding rear seats mean that luggage space can easily be increased from 508 litres to up to 1333 liters. The Renault engineers have also minimised vibrations and optimised the passenger compartment soundproofing on this new Coupé SUV. And thanks to a new Bose audio system, the passengers in the Renault Arkana are bathed in a high-quality sound approaching that of a live performance. 4-wheel drive for all road conditions The versatility and sturdiness of the Renault Arkana Coupé SUV on the road are the fruits of the joint efforts of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, and of the Alliance's collaboration with Daimler. It is fitted with a new TCe 150 petrol engine that makes its first appearance on the Russian market. This turbocharged engine delivers 150hp and 250Nm of torque, to combine performance and driving pleasure with market-leading efficiency (7 l/100 km in combined cycle). This engine is coupled with an X-Tronic gearbox, to provide flexibility and responsive acceleration, and with the smart All Mode 4x4-i 4-wheel drive system developed by the Alliance. This system ensures permanent control of the vehicle's road holding to guarantee optimum traction, whatever the conditions. This Coupé SUV boasts a reinforced chassis and a ground clearance of 208 mm, one of the highest in the category. Combined with angles of attack and departure of 18° and 25° respectively, it gives the All-New Renault Arkana true off-road and crossover capabilities. Finally, Renault Arkana has been put through a range of sturdiness and durability tests, including 300,000 km of trials in extreme driving conditions. This rigour ensures optimum comfort, in town or on winding roads, whatever the weather conditions.
  15. SPIED! MERCEDES-BENZ CLA SHEDS SOME CAMOhttps://www.motortrend.com/news/spied-mercedes-benz-cla-sheds-some-camo/ Just a few months ago, our spy photographers caught a next-generation CLA prototype out testing, possibly in AMG form. Now, the CLA has returned wearing a different grille and less camouflage. Though that earlier prototype appeared to wear Mercedes-AMG's Panamericana grille, this CLA sports a front end inspired by the CLS-Class. The camouflage obscures the shape of the headlights, but the LED accents look similar to those of its swoopy big brother. It's also safe to say the taillights have changed. Unless the camo is fooling us, the rear end looks more upright than before. Overall, the new model looks longer than its predecessor. A few interior shots reveal a more streamlined cabin. This prototype features one large screen that runs across the dashboard, replacing the two separate screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The circular vents take on a different look, and there is now a simpler array of buttons just below. Red contrast stitching and a flat-bottom steering wheel hint at AMG roots, but this car doesn't look like an AMG from the exterior. It's possible Mercedes will offer some sort of AMG interior package, or that this prototype is just a mixed bag of parts. According to Autocar, Mercedes has confirmed it will launch the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake next year. We don't know Mercedes' exact plans for the U.S. market, but the model will likely slot above the new A-Class with a sleeker coupe-like profile. The interiors of the A-Class and CLA should be very similar. The CLA could share engines and gearboxes with the A-Class. Our A-Class comes with a 2.0-liter turbo-four making 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. An AMG version of the A-Class is also very likely coming to the U.S., although it's unclear how much power it will make. Photo source: CarPix
  16. Hmmmm.... why no one starts thread on Euro 2020 Championship. Let me starts .... Sancho, Sterling proving to be England's greatest strength; defensive questions persist SOUTHAMPTON, England -- It should come as no surprise that a national team whose sole World Cup success (1966) was achieved by a side known as the "Wingless Wonders" have often struggled to find room for creative wide players. England's 5-3 victory over Kosovo in Euro 2020 qualifying Tuesday showed that is no longer the case. England have never lacked archetypal players -- the gallant centre-back, the tireless box-to-box midfielder, the bruising centre-forward -- but with occasional notable exceptions (Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney in the 1940s and 1950s, John Barnes and Chris Waddle in the 1980s), slippery wingers have rarely been one of their calling cards. 17. Tokyo 2020 Olympics Using Cardboard Beds for Althetes source: https://hypebeast.com/2020/1/tokyo-2020-olympics-paralympics-cardboard-beds-althetes-recycled With the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games coming up this summer, host city Tokyo has just unveiled recycled cardboard beds that the althetes will be sleeping on. The bed frames have been crafted from recyclable cardboard, while the mattresses for the beds will be formed of polyethylene materials that will be reused for plastic products after the events. The beds will be 2.10 metres long and the manufacturers say they will be able to support a weight of about 200kg, which is more than any athlete weighed at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. 18,000 beds will be needed for the Olympics, and 8,000 for the Paralympics. Following the games, the mattresses will be recycled into plastics. The environmentally conscious sleeping arrangements were put on display for the media for the first time on Thursday at a mock apartment in the Tokyo 2020 headquarters. The apartment units, located in Tokyo Bay, will then be sold privately following the games, with prices starting at around ¥50 million JPY (approximately $456,000 USD). Check it out above. In addition to the cardboard beds, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic medals have also been fashioned entirely out of recycled consumer devices, while the Olympic torch is made from aluminium waste and the podiums from recycled household and marine plastic waste. Even the electricity used during the event will come from renewable sources. With people all over the world pushing for more sustainable efforts, the 2020 Tokyo Olympicslooks to be starting off on the right foot. The TokyoOlympics take place between July 24 and August 9 2020 and the Paralympics from August 25 to September 6.
  18. For all those who are ready to give a new lease of life to the automotive world, Peugeot is unveiling the new 2008 SUV. As an enthusiastic and fierce supporter of Peugeot's brand vision of an exciting future, it is the ultra modern interpretation of an instinctive and versatile driving experience. A genuine SUV in its dimensions, it clashes with a particularly powerful and distinctive style. Ultra-technological, it adopts the new generation of immersive Peugeot i-Cockpit® 3D, with equipment and driving aids designed by the best know-how Peugeot has to offer. Being multi-energy, it offers the freedom to choose between 3 types of efficient engines: electric, petrol and diesel all offering phenomenally stimulating sensations. The world is changing. New challenges call for new answers throughout the automotive industry. With its 208 years of history, the Peugeot brand is calmly pursuing its commitment in the era of the energy transition. Our exciting and reassuring vision of the future is confirmed once again by the new SUV Peugeot 2008. It shows that technology and pleasure are not incompatible and that a car has the power to amaze. It turns a trip into a journey and offers everyone the mobility they need. The new Peugeot 2008 emerges at the heart of the compact SUV segment, contributing to what is the success of the Peugeot range today: affirmation through design and differentiation through innovation and technology. EXALTING SUV Powerful and distinctive in style, the new 2008 Peugeot SUV is a sculptural and desirable object. It fulfils the ambition to turn over a new and remarkable page in the history of Peugeot SUVs and is fully in line with the current style of the range while displaying its own personality. The balanced lines and overall proportions are those of an SUV, with a recessed windshield that makes the bonnet more horizontal, creating a strong body. The car sits well on its wheels, perfectly shouldered, strong and reassuring. Statutory and with identity, the front incorporates a proud and straight grille (body colour on electric versions), a carved bonnet and LED daytime running lights that fade under the projector in order to resurface below. The faceted and bold profile immediately catches the eye, with different triangular lines. The result is a lively and incisive style, representing a real technical feat for parts pressing: never have flanks had as much volume! These lines end on the tailgate, for an undeniable coherence and overall homogeneity. The style is robust, and even more with the large wheels (690mm), which perfectly fill the arches. The 18" rims have added inserts with three advantages: easier customization, significant weight gain (4 kg across all wheels) and better aerodynamics. A clear upgrade in quality and elegance with the two-tone Black Diamond black headlining, black window strip and the silk-screened C-pillar on the GT Line and GT versions. Muscular with a high beltline, the rear end includes lights connected by a black strip with dual exhaust pipes on the PureTech 130 & 155. As expressive as always, the signature with 3 LED claws is once again a feature here. Be it day and night, you'll find it on the back on all versions and in the projectors of high-end versions. Depending on the destination, the headlights will use LED technology on all finishes. In addition to the usual offer, striking and distinctive exterior shades are available and add even more tone to the style: - Elixir Red, with a coloured varnish to enhance the depth and colour of the shade, - Vertigo Blue, three-layers for a super bright finish, - Fusion Orange, a new metallic colour exclusive for the new SUV Peugeot 2008. Down with monotony! Inside, the colours and materials are meticulously detailed, skilfully combining noble materials and original colours. - subtle, the doors panels decoration includes Orange (on Active) or Blue (on Allure) tampo-printing, - technical sophistication and freshness in the Allure version, with modern "Urbanoïd" light blue upholstery, - dynamic, the GT Line versions offer a chic atmosphere, enhanced by isolated Adamite, - noble and sought after, the GT/e-2008 GT versions combine Alcantara®, leather and technical mesh. Black onyx stitched Adamite on the GT versions, the Alcantara® has an exclusive Greval® grey stitched blue and green on the Peugeot e-2008 GT versions. This cosy interior is embellished on the GT Line and GT versions with bright decorations on the dashboard and the doors panels that have 8 colours that can be picked via the touch screen. EXTENDED EXPERIENCE The spaciousness of the rear seats (a new record for the new CMP platform) makes the new SUV Peugeot 2008 a particularly versatile SUV. Its length of 4.30m and its wheelbase of 2.60m also give it a comfortable boot volume until 434 L (VDA V210). The modularity is ensured by a two-position floor (depending on versions) which provides a virtually flat floor once the bench is folded. With a variety of new storage on board, you will be able to keep everything you need on a daily basis with you. In addition to the traditional door pockets and the glove box, there is ample storage space under the front centre armrest and more in front of the gear stick. Additionally, there is more discreet storage at the bottom of the central console. There you'll find the very convenient induction charging area and its lid, which in an open position can cleverly hold a smartphone. Passengers will also enjoy a passenger compartment full of sunlight thanks to the optional sunroof, offering a wide clear bay. Its opening to the outside preserves the spaciousness for people in the back. Even more technological: the new Peugeot i-Cockpit® 3D The Peugeot i-Cockpit® is still based on the same fundamentals and offers flawless ergonomics for awakening the senses: - a compact steering wheel, for better handling and better grip, - a large HD touch screen at your fingertips, - and now an innovative 3D heads-up receiver, A favourite of our customers and currently present in 5 million Peugeot vehicles around the world, it's a wholly new interpretation which currently equips the new SUV Peugeot 2008. Information is placed in the driver's line of sight. Depending on the version, the Peugeot i-Cockpit® 3D instrument cluster projects it like a hologram. The indications are dynamic and animated: they get closer to the eye depending on their degree of importance or urgency, thereby increasing reactivity by around half a second. Unveiled on the new Peugeot 208, the Peugeot i-Cockpit® 3D is a real innovation, a world first in the segment. It improves driving in every way: efficiency, readability, and safety are at an all-time high. The touch screen can be 10 inches diagonally depending on the version, and it is controlled via touch shortcuts placed next to Toggle Switches or with the new voice command. Accuracy and credibility abound since, in addition to sight, touch is also required when using foamed plastics on the dashboard as well as sophisticated and pleasant materials in many places, such as Alcantara® or Nappa® leather. The door panels and dashboard inserts have a "carbon" look, while the EAT8 gearbox control is 100% electric ("shift and park by wire"), allowing easy and intuitive operation. It is complemented by paddles on the wheel for the driver to take over quickly if needed. Modern, connected and technological Unprecedented and even scarce in this segment, the equipment and driving aids are taken from the upper segments and are at the highest level of Peugeot brand know-how. It's an impressive technological arsenal, including: - Drive Assist plus, which paves the way to semi-autonomous driving. It combines: * the lane departure avoidance system, linked to the Lane Positioning making it possible to choose your position in the lane, *the adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function in EAT8 automatic gearbox, - Park Assist that automatically manages the steering when entering and leaving a parking spot, with only 60 cm difference between cars when parked, - the latest-generation automatic emergency braking, which also detects pedestrians and cyclists, day and night, from 5km/h to 140 km/h), - active warning of involuntary lane crossing (or the roadside), - driver warning alert, recommending a break if necessary, - automatic switching of high beam, to focus even more on the road, - further recognition of signs (one-way, stop) with recommendation for speed signs, - active blind spot monitoring, - the electric parking brake. As the co-pilots of everyday life, smartphones will also be in the new 2008. Its information will be integrated into the central screen thanks to MirrorScreen compatibility including MirrorLink™ connection protocols, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. In addition to the induction charging zone, up to 4 USB sockets are available depending on the version (2 in the front including one USB-C and 2 on the back). The routes will be optimized with TomTom® Traffic connected 3D navigation, which gives real-time traffic status and recalculates routes automatically. The driver will also be informed about risk areas, surrounding points of interest. The most demanding music lovers will be pleased ; the music lovers will be delighted. Developed in partnership with the French high-end specialist in high-fidelity sound FOCAL®, the premium Hi-Fi system of the new SUV Peugeot 2008 is the result of more than 3 years of work. Already present in the Hi-Fi versions of the Peugeot 3008, 5008 and 508, this premium equipment is now available on the new SUV Peugeot 2008. In addition to an optimal acoustic layout, the 10 loudspeakers use technologies patented FOCAL® usually reserved living room installations: 4 aluminum inverted dome tweeters, four 165mm Polyglass woofers, 1 Polyglass central speaker and a Power Flower™ triple coil subwoofer. The 50kWh high capacity battery provides a range of up to 310 km according to the new WLTP standard. This battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km for 70% of its charging capacity. The display of energy flows in the central display as well as in the Peugeot i-Cockpit® 3D receiver is ludic and make it easy and intuitive to understand how the traction chain works. Two intuitive modes of energy recovery when braking are available and accessible directly from the gear stick: - Drive ("D"), recovery is standard, for driving similar to a petrol or diesel vehicle - Brake ("B"), recovery allows deceleration directly from the accelerator pedal The batteries are optimally installed in the floor, ensuring that choosing an electric version won't affect the performance of the new SUV Peugeot 2008. This ensures the same room and boot volume as the internal combustion versions. An essential marker of the Peugeot brand, the dynamic behaviour of the new SUV Peugeot e-2008 has been the subject of careful attention and provides a touch of road and driving pleasure comparable to petrol and diesel versions. The drive axles have been adapted and the weight distribution is optimal. The charging time depends on the power available: -16h for full charge from a Legrand® Green Up™ plug, - between 5h15 and 8h for a complete charge with a WallBox (three phase 11 kW with optional charger or single phase 7.4 kW) - 30mn to recover 80% of battery with the 100 kW public terminals, the thermal regulation of the battery makes it possible to use terminals with this power. The programmable delayed charge is available from the navigation screen or from your smartphone with the MyPeugeot® application. This can also start charging at any time and allows you to check the charge level remotely. For the highest level of thermal comfort, specific equipment has been developed: - a 5 kW heating resistor and a 3kW climate compressor which are supplied by the traction battery, to provide heating and cooling in the passenger compartment, - a heat pump and automatic regulation of the passenger compartment temperature to guarantee a level of comfort equivalent to the internal combustion versions. The system is suitable for optimized energy consumption, - pleasant heated seats (depending on the version), - thermal pre-conditioning programmable from the touchscreen or remotely via the MyPeugeot® smartphone app. Offering an ideal temperature in the cockpit as of the rise on board, this comfort is not done to the detriment of autonomy: when the vehicle is connected, energy necessary comes directly from the terminal of refill. The new SUV Peugeot e-2008 does not have a specific silhouette but some captivating details that subtly underline its electrified personality: - a sparkling dichroic Lion, with reflections alternating between green and blue depending on the angle of view, - a specific "e" monogram on the front fenders and the tailgate, - an elegant, body-coloured front grille with beads, - exclusive seat upholstery in Alcantara© "Greval Grey" on e-2008 GT, - finally, the on-board experience is complemented by a display specific to the electric version in the 3D receiver as well as in the touch screen. And because electric isn't only about motorization, the Peugeot brand is offering a full practical and didactic ecosystem to calmly support customers in their daily travel and use. Three services will be on offer from launch: - Easy-Charge will facilitate access to different charging solutions tailored to the needs of users. At home or at the office, a panel of charging solutions (reinforced plugs, Wallbox, Smart-Wallbox,...) will be proposed. Peugeot will also accompany its customers in the installation thanks to a partnership with specialized companies. In parallel, an offer of public charging solutions is available via Free2Move Services. A step of load gives access to the broadest network of load with more than 110,000 terminals in Europe via the PlugSurfing partner. The preselection of the terminals is done according to the distance, the speed or the price of the refill. Guidance towards the selected terminal can be carried out starting from the application Free2Move Services or the connected navigation of the vehicle. - Easy-Move will ensure our customers' mobility. A tool for planning and organizing long trips via Free2Move Services will offer the best journeys taking into account the autonomy and the location of the charging terminals on the way. For clear and serene driving, the route will be displayed directly on the touch screen of the vehicle. An extended mobility offer is included in the vehicle rent and allows you to rent an internal combustion vehicle according to your needs. Finally, a tool in the MyPeugeot application provides eco-driving tips to optimize the autonomy of your new SUV Peugeot e-2008, - Serenity to support our customers throughout their journey with the new SUV Peugeot e-2008. New simulators and digital routes will help you to find out more about electric on the Peugeot brand websites, service contracts and dedicated roadside assistance may include financing. A certificate guaranteeing the level of capacity of the vehicle's battery will facilitate resale.

  22. It is coming to the end of the year, and let me share my 2020 through a show and tell. For me, I feel like I'm Andy Lau everyday, be it going to work, shopping or even just having a quick bite at eatery. I know it sounds ridiculous, but 🤪 And for the first time in my life, I have to ration my toilet paper and instant noodle, worst than my BMT days, because 😅 The empty streets, shopping malls and train stations during circuit breaker period made me feel like I am in some remote cities under zombies attack! 😱 How's your 2020?
