  4. With the popularity of hatchback in Singapore, will we see the Fiat resurgence in Singapore with the Tipo? I think the 1.4 and 1.6 is ideal for our road.

  6. Searched but couldn't find any so starting new thread. Chanced upon the inaugural UEFA Nations League game bt Germany and France...then realised it leads to the Euro 2020 tournament by 2019. Both teams played like they were in WC...Germany appeared very changed. Could had won by at least three goals if not for France stand-in keeper whom saved at least 5 almost certain attempts in the second 45mins. Sane came on in the last 10mins of the game but couldn't make much impact. Germany number 9 was excellent on the left flank beating franch number 2 right back numerous times to create dangerous crosses... Muller had a great chance but he tried to volley a shot instead of a header...team mates were not happy about it. The French had little chance but still outstanding in terms of defence. Their shape was impressive with constant shifting to close down the Germans advance. They could had 5 up front to force their opponents to play long ball knowing they could be quick with short and rapid passes. The Germans nearly lost the game 2s after injury time though when a defender cleared a ball in the box but bounced off a french player and the ball beat Neuer but went over the crossbar.
  7. This thread is curated from this youtube channel. This is the 2020 Grand Lancer. This is the front view of the Grand Lancer, the design cue does have a bit of Triton in it. 🤔 But it is definitely a whole new take from the past Lancer outlook that hasn't been a refresh for the longest time. I sure like the side profile of the new Grand Lancer, the line from the front A-pillar to the driver door does make the car sportier. I just hope that the vent is real! So that there is some performance purpose for the holes. The rear view of the car is nicely shaped too. The boot has a little duck tail the looks sportier. And I also like the rear bumper the way it has vents. The c shape LED lights to seem to have taken a lot of re-iterations from the recent Civic and Impreza. Nothing much to fanfare about it. A closer view of the Rear LED Light. Here's a look on the front DRL. A bit like golf thou IMHO. Okay. To the interior. This youtube channel is from Taiwan, so is LHD. I like the ipad style centre display! The steering wheel looks very minimalistic! A full LCD display and a nice pedal shifter. 🙂 You can do different configuration on the smart display too! How cool is this! This is by far the favourite for this car. A tesla-like infotainment system! Just look at the size of the screen! OMG! This is so damn good for displaying a map. Reverse mode. Let's come to the back, the centre trunk is quite protruded, so maybe for a long-distance drive, best is to just sit 4 paxs. Look very spacious~! Here's the car key. The boot opening is very practical. I think is big enough for all barang barang. The wheels are fitted on 16" 5 spokes alloy rims with Bridgestone Turanza T001, A very highly recommended touring tyres for those who want comfort and minimum road noises. I will highly recommend Turanza! Okay. That's all for now! Enjoy!
  8. we are celebrating National Day again this year's certainly extraordinary which is why i find the lyrics of the 2002 NDP song very appropriate to describe this year (lyrics by Liang Wenfu) enjoy people, stay safe and soldier on
  9. https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/vehicles/passenger-cars/mercedes-benz-concept-cars/vision-avtr/ As fake as this car may look, it is 100% real. ' VISION AVTR – inspired by AVATAR. The name of the groundbreaking concept vehicle stands not only for the close collaboration in developing the show car together with the AVATAR team but also for ADVANCED VEHICLE TRANSFORMATION. This concept vehicle embodies the vision of Mercedes-Benz designers, engineers and trend researchers for mobility in the distant future. Extremely confident – and completely without emissions. With its four high-performance and near-wheel-built electric motors, the VISION AVTR embodies a particularly agile implementation of the vision of a dynamic luxury saloon. With a combined engine power of more than 350 kW, the VISION AVTR sets a new benchmark for EQ Power. Thanks to the intelligent and fully variable torque distribution, the power of the four fully individually controllable motors is not only managed in the best possible way in terms of driving dynamics, but above all in a highly efficient manner. The innovative all-wheel drive with torque vectoring enables completely new freedoms and guarantees driving dynamics at the highest level while at the same time providing the best possible active safety. This means that each wheel can be driven separately and depending on the driving situation. Due to the possibility to drive the front and rear axles simultaneously or in opposite ways, the VISION AVTR can move sideways by approx. 30 degrees, in contrast to conventional vehicles. The so-called “crab movement” gives the concept vehicle a reptile-like appearance even in its movement. Organic battery technology. The VISION AVTR was designed in line with its innovative electric drive. This is based on a particularly powerful and compact high-voltage battery. For the first time, the revolutionary battery technology is based on graphene-based organic cell chemistry and thus completely eliminates rare, toxic and expensive earths such as metals. Electromobility thus becomes independent of fossil resources. An absolute revolution is also the recyclability by composting, which is 100% recyclable due to the materiality. As a result, Mercedes-Benz underlines the high relevance of a future circular economy in the raw materials sector. Exceptional fast charging capability. In addition to an exponentially high energy density – compared to today’s battery systems with up to 1,200 Wh/litre – the technology also impresses with its exceptional fast charging capability via automated, conductive charging technology. This means that the battery will be fully recharging in less than 15 minutes. The innovative technology also allows maximum flexibility with regard to the construction space: with a local minimum of 94 millimetres, the battery adapts ideally to the shared space vehicle concept, thus maximising the multifunctional interior. With a capacity of around 110 kWh, the VISION AVTR enables an electric range of more than 700 kilometres. By recuperating during roll-out and braking, the high-voltage battery can be recharged with a higher efficiency than established systems while driving and thus contributes to the high energy efficiency of the overall system. Masterpiece of efficiency. At Mercedes-Benz, the consideration of efficiency goes far beyond the drive concept, because with increasing digitalisation, the performance of the large number of so-called secondary consumers also comes into focus – along with their efficient energy supply, without negatively affecting the drive power of the vehicle itself. Energy consumption per computing operation is already a key target in the development of new computer chips. This trend will continue in the coming years with the growth of sensors and artificial intelligence in the automotive industry. The neuro-inspired approach of the VISION AVTR, including so-called neuromorphic hardware, promises to minimise the energy requirements of sensors, chips and other components to a few watts. Their energy supply is provided by the cached current of the integrated solar plates on the back of the VISION AVTR. The 33 multi-directionally movable surface elements act as “bionic flaps”. Interior and exterior merge. For the first time, Mercedes-Benz has worked with a completely new design approach in the design of the VISION AVTR. The holistic concept combines the design disciplines interior, exterior and UX from the first sketch. Man and human perception are the starting point of a design process from the inside out. The design process begins with the experience of the passengers and consciously focuses on the perception and needs of the passengers. The goal was to create a car that prolongs the perception of its passengers. It was also a matter of creating an immersive experience space in which passengers connect with each other, with the vehicle and the surrounding area in a unique way. Sustainable materials. Large areas such as the back shell of the seat and the sky are decorated with a colour-changing fabric inspired by the colour world of the sea. Depending on the light, the textile changes its colour from dark blue to a subtle light blue. These seats are refined by the vegan DINAMICA® leather. DINAMICA® is the first and only microfibre that guarantees environmental sustainability throughout the entire production cycle. It is recycled material made from old clothing, flags and PET plastic bottles. During production, attention is paid to low pollutant emissions and low energy consumption. Thanks to its versatility, maximum performance and high quality, DINAMICA® is suitable for use in luxurious car interiors. It also guarantees slip resistance for passengers on the seats. The softness of the material gives the occupants a “welcome home” feeling. Intuitive control. The VISION AVTR already responds to the approach of the passengers by visualising the energy and information flow of the environment with digital neurons that flow through the grille through the wheels to the rear area. The first interaction in the interior between man and vehicle happens completely intuitively via the control unit: by placing the hand on the centre console, the interior comes to life and the vehicle recognises the driver by his breathing. This is made visible on the instrument panel and on the user’s hand. The VISION AVTR thus establishes a biometric connection with the driver and increases his awareness of the environment. The digital neurons flow from the interior into the exterior and visualise the flow of energy and information. For example, when driving, the neurons flow over the outside of the vehicle. When changing direction, the energy flows to the corresponding side of the vehicle. The vehicle as an immersive experience space. The visual connection between passengers and the outside world is created by the curved display module, which replaces a conventional dashboard. The outside world around the vehicle and the surrounding area is shown in real-time 3D graphics and at the same time shows what is happening on the road in front of the vehicle. Combined with energy lines, these detailed real-time images bring the interior to life and allow passengers to discover and interact with the environment in a natural way with different views of the outside world. Three wonders of nature – the Huangshan Mountains of China, the 115-metre-high Hyperion Tree found in the United States and the pink salt Lake Hillier from Australia – can be explored in detail. Passengers become aware of various forces of nature that are not normally visible to the human eye, such as magnetic fields, bioenergy or ultraviolet light. Bionic formal language. When the boundaries between vehicle and living beings are lifted, Mercedes-Benz combines luxury and sustainability and works to make the vehicles as resource-saving as possible. With the VISION AVTR, the brand is now showing how a vehicle can blend harmoniously into its environment and communicate with it. In the ecosystem of the future, the ultimate luxury is the fusion of human and nature with the help of technology. The VISION AVTR is thus an example of sustainable luxury in the field of design. As soon as you get in, the car becomes an extension of your own body and a tool to discover the environment much as in the film humans can use avatars to extend and expand their abilities. Here is a video of someone driving it:

  13. Hyperion XP-1 hydrogen supercar to be revealed in August American start-up’s debut model uses Nasa technology to deliver supercar performance American start-up company Hyperion will unveil its hydrogen-powered XP-1 next month, promising supercar performance from Nasa-derived drivetrain technology. The soon-to-be-revealed car - previewed in a new video, below - is said to be powered by a “high-performance, zero-emissions hydrogen-electric powertrain” that uses technology originally developed for the US's space agency. This is said to provide a greener alternative to petrol and diesel supercars, as well as being more practical than battery-electric supercars such as the Lotus Evija and Rimac C_Two, because buyers won't have to worry as much about range and recharging times. Hyperion, founded by CEO Angelo Kafantaris in 2011, gives us only a glimpse of the XP-1 in the clip, but a flickering shot, combined with an earlier teaser image, gives clues as to its styling. A wide, haunched front end bears a resemblance to the Bugatti Veyron, while its profile, previewed earlier this year, suggests it will adopt a coupé-style sloping roofline and a curved rear. It’s unclear whether it features two or four seats. Hyperion remains tight-lipped about the XP-1’s performance, claiming only that it will be more than a match for the pace of modern supercars. Following the coronavirus-induced cancellation of the New York motor show, where the XP-1 was originally meant to be revealed, the supercar will now be unveiled online in August. Pricing and production details have yet to be confirmed, but it can be expected to be sold in extremely limited numbers, given its claimed performance potential and complex make-up. Interesting, a hydrogen powered car. I wonder how the technology actually works.

  15. Audi‘s next generation S3 model will also be available in Sedan form, featuring the same updated design and improved tech as its hatchback sibling. We can see loads of sporty-looking bits underneath this prototype’s camouflage, such as the chunky front and rear spoilers, large dual-spoke wheels and most of all, the quad exhaust pipe setup which points to this being anything but slow in a straight line. The new S3 Sedan will boast the same hexagonal grille and updated headlights as the rest of the fourth-gen Audi A3s. Still, the front bumper will feature bigger intakes, the profile will have more pronounced side sills, and the wheels will be bigger. At the rear, expect a slightly more elegant design compared to the current iteration, as well as updated taillights with modern graphics. The interior of the next A3, regardless of variant, will have a surprisingly angular design judging by previous images. The dashboard is also driver-oriented, and is expected to feature the automaker’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as the latest in infotainment software. Under the skin we expect a similar setup to what’s available right now, namely a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch and Quattro all-wheel drive, altough power and torque figures could increase from the current model’s 295 HP (300 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). Its main competitor, the CLA 35, has 302 HP (306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), so a slight bump is not out of the question. Since it’s possible we’ll see the all-new A3 and A3 Sedan debut before the end of this year, the more performance-oriented S3 will likely show up in 2020.
  16. https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/government-economy/wuhan-virus-likely-to-have-much-wider-and-deeper-impact Wuhan virus likely to have 'much wider and deeper impact' China's economy and its trade with Singapore and the rest of the world have grown enormously since the Sars outbreak in 2003: Chan Chun Sing THE Wuhan virus outbreak is likely to have a much wider and deeper impact on the world economy than the severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) episode of 2003, and Singaporeans need to be mentally prepared for this, said Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing on Sunday. Mr Chan was speaking to reporters during his visit to Oasia Hotel Downtown, where a 73-year-old Chinese national had stayed before testing positive for the coronavirus. He said: "I've heard a lot of people comparing this episode with the Sars episode many years ago in 2003. I think we shouldn't do that kind of direct comparison... Comparing 2003 to now, China's GDP (gross domestic product) has gone up by about four times. Our trade with China has also increased by nearly four times." China's GDP as a proportion of the entire world's GDP has more than doubled since 2003, from 9 per cent then to more than 19 per cent today. Mr Chan added: "The impact of any disruption to the Chinese economy and the supply chains is likely to be a much wider, much deeper impact because of the interlinkages with the global economy, and certainly with the Singapore economy." It is too early to say exactly how big the impact will be. But as the rest of the world progressively tightens their border controls, there will be "serious implications" on tourism and other industries, including manufacturing, Mr Chan said. On Friday, Singapore announced that it will bar anyone with a Chinese passport from entering the country, with exceptions made for Singapore permanent residents, those on long-term passes, and those who can show they have not been to China recently. Other visitors who have been to mainland China within the past 14 days will also be denied entry. In the 13 hours since these travel restrictions kicked in with effect from 11.59pm on Saturday, 15 travellers have been refused entry to Singapore. The bans do not affect existing work pass holders, although about 30,000 work pass holders who are of Chinese nationality left Singapore over the Chinese New Year break and have not returned, Manpower Minister Josephine Teo said on Sunday. These work visa holders, who would be required to go on a 14-day leave of absence when they return to Singapore, make up less than 1 per cent of the work force here, she said. Chinese tourists account for around 20 per cent of Singapore's total international visitor arrivals, with about 3.6 million visitors to Singapore in 2019. To dampen the punch for tourism businesses, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced on Sunday that it will waive licence fees for hotels, travel agents and tourist guides. It will also defray enhanced cleaning costs of hotels that provided accommodation to confirmed and suspected cases of Wuhan virus infections. Mr Chan promised that the measures taken by STB to support affected businesses will be followed by a wider relief package that will be unveiled in the Budget speech on Feb 18. For example, some tour agents and F&B businesses have been very badly hit because 80 to 90 per cent of their business comes from the Chinese market, Mr Chan noted. "Even beyond the tourism related industries, what people are most concerned with is cash flow," Mr Chan said, noting that the ability of businesses to support jobs depends on their survival. "Companies have also asked if we can help them with temporary bridging loans. This is something that we are studying to see how to help them with their cash flow." The Ministry is also studying how it can help defray costs for the aviation sector while maintaining air connectivity between Singapore and China, he said. Mr Chan added: "For the taxi industry and the private hire industry, we will be looking into measures to see how we can help the drivers alleviate some of the temporary cash flow issues that they have at this point in time." He reassured Singaporean businesses and Singaporean workers that "we stand together with them", adding: "We do have the means to help them tide over this difficult moment, but we must do this with a long-term perspective. We must make sure that whatever we do is sustainable because we are not sure how long this crisis will last. "We must be mentally prepared, psychologically prepared that the impact of this, compared to Sars could be wider, deeper and longer."
  17. Japan PM Abe says postponing Tokyo Olympics an option source: https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/japan-pm-abe-says-postponing-tokyo-olympics-an-option TOKYO (REUTERS) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Monday (March 23) that postponing the Tokyo Olympic Games may become an option if holding the event in "complete form" became impossible. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on Sunday after an emergency meeting that it is stepping up its “scenario planning” for the Tokyo 2020 Games – including a possible postponement – as the coronavirus pandemic spreads. Mr Abe said the IOC decision on Sunday was in line with the view that the Tokyo Games should be held in its complete form. “If that becomes difficult, we may have no option but to consider postponing the Games” given the Olympics’ principle of putting the health of athletes first, he told parliament. Mr Abe also said cancelling the Games was not an option. He said he had conveyed his views about the fate of the Olympics to Tokyo Games chief Yoshiro Mori on Sunday evening, who then discussed the issue with IOC President Thomas Bach.

  20. 2022 Mazda RX-7 Rendering Looks Too Good To Be True This artist is not giving up hope. Maybe there will be a new rotary sports car one day. “Without the rotary engine, there would probably be no Mazda. And without Mazda, the rotary engine certainly wouldn’t have been in production for nearly 50 years.” This is the message the Zoom-Zoom company published on a page dedicated to the quinquagenary (yes, it’s a word) of its rotary engine back in 2017. Since then, Mazda has announced the rotary’s return as a range-extending engine, but with no signs of a new RX sports car. Well, there was the jaw-dropping RX-Vision concept back in 2015, but a production version is unlikely to happen. That said, Mazda hasn’t given up on the prospects of a rotary-powered sports car, although it has described this project as being a “race against time” due to emissions regulations getting stricter. It’s “still our dream,” said the company’s head of R&D and the chief designer back in October 2019, so it could happen one day.

  23. 4 S’pore Laws To Know Effective From 1 Jan 2020, So You Won’t Kena Caught source: https://mustsharenews.com/singapore-laws-2020/ New Singapore Laws You Need To Obey From 1 Jan 2020 The whole “new year, new me” saying is inspirational and all, but not all new things are great to everyone. Take these 4 new Singapore laws for example, which take effect on 1 January 2020. E-scooter or PMD users and smokers in particular should take note, as most of these will affect you guys the most. 1. Minimum smoking age raised to 20 There was a time when we would boast to the world, Americans especially, that the minimum smoking and drinking age in Singapore were only 18. While the latter remains true, the former has actually been undergoing a continuous change. If you didn’t know, the government had raised the minimum age to buy, use, own, sell and distribute tobacco products to 19 in 2019. This lower limit will increase to 20 this year, before finally stopping at 21 in 2021. The progressive increase is to curb the incidence of underage smoking, which has become a major cause for concern. Individuals under 20 caught smoking, buying or possessing cigarettes from 1 Jan 2020 may face a fine of up to $300, so if that might be you, you should drop that cigarette now. 2. Jail time for being a fire hazard As if the laws aren’t harsh enough for smokers, still-burning cigarette butts found disposed irresponsibly may also land you in jail. Authorities are being stricter towards anyone who doesn’t extinguish and throw flammable items like cigarette butts properly. You can be a fire hazard as long as a fire happens within 60 minutes or a short distance from where you’ve thrown, placed, dropped or left anything that could start a fire. This new ruling falls under the Criminal Law Reform Act (CLRA) which Parliament had passed on 6 May 2019. Offenders face punishments ranging from a fine to imprisonment of up to 7 years, or both, depending on the severity of injuries that resulted. 3. Heavy fine or jail for breaking e-scooter footpath ban Being a PMD rider in Singapore is difficult now, what with all the restrictions that come with the relatively divisive new rules. Ever since the e-scooter ban on footpaths, the authorities have been stricter, sparing no chances for offenders. As soon as the grace period ended on 31 Dec 2019 and the new year began, Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers have been clamping down on errant riders. From 1 Jan 2020, those guilty of riding their e-scooters on footpaths may face a $2,000 fine and/or 3 months in prison. 4. Harsher punishments for crimes against minors & vulnerable victims Most significant of the new laws perhaps is the greater protection for vulnerable victims of exploitative crimes. Starting this year, amendments to the Penal Code will entail harsher punishments for crimes against minors and vulnerable victims. The changes are as follows: Making, distributing (including threats to distribute), possessing, and accessing voyeuristic recordings or intimate images is now a punishable crime. Non-consensual exposure of genitals in a physical or virtual space (such as sending intimate photos) is a punishable crime. Double punishments for those who exploit vulnerable victims like minors, domestic workers, or family members. A range of offenses against minors like sexual grooming and child abuse will also be thoroughly criminalised. Other punishable crimes such as doxxing and fraud are also on the list, which you can read in further detail here. Be aware of new Singapore laws Considering our strict laws, you can be sure that the Singapore government won’t go easy on people who break the above rules. You wouldn’t want to start the new year on the wrong footing, so take note of these new laws and remember them well. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
