  8. After a long hiatus, a new compact / mid size MPV is coming from Kia finally, which will be officially unveiled in another 10 days time. This shall be a strong challenger to the BMW 2GT, Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer, Honda Freed, Peugoet 5008, Renault Grand Scenic, Toyota Sienta and VW Touran. Kia has officially announced the return of the Carens nameplate in a brand new minivan that will be unveiled on December 16. The teaser video published by the Korean automaker gives us a glimpse of the Carens which is rumored to share its underpinnings with the Seltos SUV. The fourth-generation Carens appears to adopt a more SUV-like appearance instead of the outdated one-box MPV silhouette of its predecessors. It also inherits Kia’s latest design language with thin LED headlights and full-width taillights similar to the ones on the new Sportage. The new Carens will likely be longer and taller than the Seltos in order to provide more interior space and practicality. The tall roofline will also allow for a third row of seats making it a seven-seater like its predecessor. After its world premiere on December 16, the model will roll out in India, follow by other markets at a later date.
  9. If you think you have seen this car before, you are not wrong. This electric SUV from Subaru is a badge-engineered Toyota bZ4X. In developing Solterra, the brand's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) to be launched globally, Subaru aimed to exceed the various customer expectations for BEVs and make it a practical vehicle so that customers can choose it comfortably and confidently, as the vehicle will be the cornerstone of Subaru's future BEVs. At the same time, as a Subaru SUV, Subaru aimed to make it a vehicle that existing Subaru customers can feel that it truly is a Subaru. By filling it with new values that a BEV can offer and the value of "enjoyment and peace of mind" that Subaru have cultivated over many years, Solterra has been built as an authentic SUV in an environmentally friendly package that can be used with peace of mind like the existing Subaru SUV models. Exterior and Interior The seamlessly shaped hexagon grille expresses the energy efficiency of a BEV. The body with the horizontal axis starting from that hexagon and the dynamic fenders bulging out from the inside show the strength as an SUV. Low instrumental panel and top mounted meters, a first for Subaru, located on the instrumental panel and visible above the steering wheel realized the spacious interior. e-Subaru Global Platform Utilizing the know-how cultivated with the highly recognized Subaru Global Platform, we have jointly developed the e-Subaru Global Platform together with Toyota Motor Corporation as a BEV-dedicated platform. The e-Subaru Global Platform enables a driving experience with superior driving dynamics, that brings high stability and handling linearly responds to driver's steering operation. High capacity battery packs are placed under the floor as it is a BEV, and by utilizing that battery as a part of the structure, a low center of gravity and high body strength and rigidity are realized. Driving Performance/AWD System Subaru Solterra has adopted a new system that drives the front and rear wheels with separate motors. Taking advantage of the expertise in AWD technology precisely controlling the four tires that Subaru has accumulated over many years, the agile response of the electric motors and the flexible driving force distribution between front and rear, Solterra fully utilizes the grips of the four wheels and offers a driving with confidence and peace of mind. Like the other Subaru SUV models, Solterra features the X-MODE AWD control system that enhances the sense of security on rough roads. By adding the new Grip Control function, which enables the vehicle to run at a constant speed while stabilizing the vehicle even on rough roads, the capability is further enhanced. Safety By devising the skeleton shape of each part of the body and optimizing the material strength, Solterra achieves both weight reduction and superior collision safety at the same time. In the event of a collision, the structure that transfers the load to multiple body skeletons efficiently absorbs the collision energy. It protects not only the vehicle occupants, but also protects the high-voltage equipment in the BEV. Solterra is the vehicle which takes an important role for Subaru, the company aiming at "delivering happiness to all," to face the challenges of global warming and climate change and continue to deliver smiles in the future. The vehicle has been jointly-developed by Toyota and Subaru, which entered into a new business and capital alliance in September 2019. They brought together technologies and knowledges that are expertise of each under the slogan "Let's make ever-better cars together" and the engineers of both companies developed it together while engaging in a friendly rivalry. The launch of the Subaru Solterra will start by the middle of 2022 in the markets including Japan, the United States, Canada, Europe and China.
  10. To be officially unveiled next week. Stay tuned. The new model will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s brand new MLA platform, which allows for Mild Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Battery Electric variants. The same platform will underpin the slightly smaller Range Rover Sport which is expected to be unveiled in 2022. As for the powertrains, most likely all of them will receive some form of electrification for improved efficiency and comply with the ever-stricter emission regulations. The base model will probably retain the current mild-hybrid inline-six 3.0-liter engine, while the most powerful variant is rumored to get a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter V8. The most popular option will probably be the plug-in hybrid version, thanks to the combination of a gasoline motor plus a sufficient electric range for daily use. We also expect a BEV variant for the first time in Range Rover’s history, which could lead the popular series into the future following the imminent ICE sales ban in Europe.
  11. 2022 Mazda CX-5 Revealed With Updated Design, Standard All-Wheel Drive There are more changes than meets the eye as the 2022 CX-5 benefits from a more responsive six-speed automatic transmission delivering smoother acceleration. Not only that, but the compact SUV now features a different suspension to better iron out vibrations and diminish road noise courtesy of a new dampening control structure and higher frame rigidity. Another important update is all-wheel drive being made standard across the range. As a matter of fact, Mazda is offering AWD as standard equipment on all CX models going forward. From the subcompact CX-30 to the midsize CX-9, every single SUV sold by the company will have an all-paw system even in the entry-level trim.
  12. This Coupe styled SUV is suppose to be even larger than the X7, and come with an unusual tailpipe layout... The first sighting of the sports activity vehicle to slot above the BMW X7 happened last year, basically confirming that the biggest of the X models is indeed coming. However, Bavaria hasn't confirmed its arrival yet nor has it confirmed that it will indeed be called the X8. Expected to become the new flagship BMW SUV, the prototype here was spotted at the Nurburgring. Despite the bevy of claddings and concealment to hide its design, there are several cues here that tell us that this isn't the facelifted version of the X7 that we saw recently. The front looks flatter than the X7, while the bonnet has prominent lines and the lower intakes have been reshaped. The headlights are positioned lower than the current X7, though this aligns the alleged X8 with the upcoming X7 refresh in terms of headlamp design – albeit the X8 isn't showing any sign of a split-headlight design. And yes, the massive kidneys found on the X7 will likely appear on the X8 as well, given the spy shots that you see here.
  13. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a33383709/cadillac-lyriq-large-display/ Cadillac’s 2022 Lyriq electric SUV will have a 33-inch display that spans most of the dash. The display will look like a single continuous screen, but it will actually be broken up into three parts under the same piece of curved glass. The Lyriq will go into production in 2022. Cadillac wants to make sure its first electric vehicle gets noticed. With that in mind, the automaker has shared images of the gigantic curved 33-inch display that will cover most of the dashboard of the upcoming Lyriq EV. The electric SUV's curved 33-inch OLED display will serve as the infotainment system, instrument gauge, and control for lighting and HUD to the left of the steering wheel. Cadillac says that while the giant screen is separated into three individual displays, the entire screen can be used as a single unit—likely while the car is stopped and charging. Bill Thompson, GM senior design manager for UI, told Electrek: "The size of the Cadillac Lyriq display is a huge differentiator for us. The form factor is going to be very industry-leading. The huge 33-inch display is a very big differentiator for us, even among the other brands in our portfolio." Thompson noted that the vehicle will have electric-vehicle routing built in and that the UI will "integrate those kinds of peace-of-mind features." He also said the system will integrate more human-centered information and alerts around GM's hands-free driver-assist system, Super Cruise. The infotainment and lighting-control portion of the display will be touchscreens. As on the Escalade, a rotary controller in the center console will control aspects of the infotainment system. The Lyriq concept also had displays for the passengers in the rear of the vehicle. No word on what features those displays will have or if they'll even make it into production. The Cadillac Lyriq will be the first GM vehicle built on the automaker's new EV platform using the Ultium battery system. The Lyriq will make its debut during a virtual event on August 6. It goes into production in 2022.
  14. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a33510653/infiniti-qx55-debut-announcement/ Originally set to go on sale in summer 2020, the Infiniti QX55 has now been rescheduled for the 2022 model year. The production model is now set to be revealed on November 11 on social media. The coupe-like QX55 is based on the compact QX50 SUV, and we expect it will share that model's VC-Turbo powertrain. Infiniti has teased us with the QX55 not once, not twice, but three times now as it grapples with production delays for its revived lineup of luxury cars and SUVs. The QX55, which is in essence a chopped-roof version of the QX50 SUV, was originally said to be heading to production in 2020, but it will now be pushed to 2021. The Japanese luxury automaker will reveal the production version of the QX55 on November 11 with a virtual debut on the company's social media channels. Until then, the company says it won't give any information on the SUV's powertrain or equipment, but we expect it to follow the template set by the existing QX50. That would mean a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with variable compression technology, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and either front- or all-wheel drive. In a teaser photo released by Infiniti, we can see that the QX55 will wear a sloped rear hatchback design and unique taillights. The QX55 is expected at North American Infiniti dealerships in spring 2021 as a 2022 model.
