  1. TLDR; road markings were ignored, traffic laws were blatantly flouted, Toyota Altis gets T-boned. Watch the video for yourself below Footage was caught of a white Toyota Altis breaking traffic rules by refusing to stop at the stop line and heading straight at a junction when the only options were to turn left or right. He managed to get his penance when he was collided into by another blue car….hard. Debris fell out from the impact onto the open road. Hope both parties got out of this incident safely, though from the video it does seem like just the vehicle was damaged. Next time it might be best to remember that stop lines and traffic rules are there for a reason, hopefully, the Altis driver can learn his lesson from this. Next time he/she might not be so lucky to come out unscathed Simply slowing down at a stop sign is not sufficient, according to the highway code, it is actually necessary to come to a complete halt. For driving or riding against the flow of traffic as indicated by traffic signs, as the Toyota Altis did, the driver is liable to a penalty of 6 demerit points as well as a $200 - $250 fine, depending on if you’re a light or heavy vehicle. Netizen Comments Netizens have also flocked to express their opinion on the matter and criticize the Toyota Altis for its actions. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR – A Subaru Legacy recklessly speeds through morning traffic and weaves through tight pockets of space between cars. Ends up side swiping a Toyota Wish causing a jam on the PIE during morning rush hour. It’s 8am and you’re on the way to work. The morning traffic is not too bad and you look like you’ll make it to the office with little to no hiccups. But, life is funny and loves to throw you a curve ball every now and then. In this case, it’s in the form of a Subaru Legacy with a driver that has shit for brains. Watch the viral video here: Crazy driver This minute and a half (ish) video starts by throwing us straight into the action. A Subaru Legacy with a roof pod comes charging in from the left side of the cam car and can be seen aggressively switching lanes. It then hits a car, loses control and comes to a halt at lane 1. Is there a profile for roof pods? I don’t know about you readers but most of my friends who are considering to install roof pods or already have roof pods installed are married men with kids. Roof pods can give your car an additional 300 to 600 litres of cargo space - Which is space you’ll need especially if you have children. And as you can see from a quick search on Google, some of them don’t come cheap. Really hope the driver’s children were not in the car though. Sway la, the Wish An image of the damage to the Wish was also uploaded along with the video. I’m pretty sure it was more than the Wish but the video footage of impact is quite blur and it happened really quickly. There seems to be another stationary car on lane 1 (besides the idiot) that was affected by this incident. Online Chatter Somehow the PIE happens to be prone to traffic jams for some reason. Not to mention the driver’s “maybe” children in the car. Yeah lo. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. A Honda Vezel with a license plate number of 6000 rams straight into a tree at Ubi outside the Opel showroom as shown in the picture below. This is not the first time a vehicle with a license plate number of ‘6000’ has gotten into trouble recently. In fact, this is correlated with a string of unfortunate incidents at Causeway and Second Link. Each vehicle also had a license plate with the number 6000, including the infamous ‘mother and son’ duo that had gone viral recently, stunning the internet when she managed to rip the license plate of the vehicle behind her and smash it into the windscreen. The Tuas Second Link road rage incident has become an internet sensation, sparking memes across social media as well as the doxxing of the woman involved in the incident. There was apparently also another recent incident with the license plate number ‘6000’ when the lorry plowed through cars on the Woodlands causeway, causing yet another eventful incident between the borders of Singapore and Malaysia. 11 vehicles were collided into based on the suspicion of faulty brakes. Many people have even bet on the number 6000 at 4D gambling outlets after these particular incidents with the age-old anticipation that it’ll be the winning number. This led to the phenomenon of the ‘6000’ number being fully sold out on the Singapore Pools website. Unfortunately, it did not end up being the winning number Back to the topic at hand… Coming back to this, it’s astonishing that the license plate number 6000 has managed to land itself into hot water once more. This time, the Honda Vezel has managed to ram itself headfirst into a tree at Ubi outside the Opel showroom. Almost makes you think what’s the point in bidding an insane amount for a premium license plate when it’s simply driven by ‘bodohs’ Judging from the prices found online, the price of a license plate with the numeral ‘6000’ in it seems to start from $3.9k to a whopping $7.4k. Just imagine bidding so much for a license plate just to have drivers like these take the wheel. Netizen Comments Netizens express their own take at the situation at hand, mostly bemoaning the bad luck that the license plate number apparently brings them. If you want a smooth sailing road trip, it might be best not to come close to a car with a license plate number of 6000. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. "Platform helps accident victims find witness' footage" @ https://www.findwitness.com.sg/ but then there are already FB groups that pay for accident vids (based on viewership)... disclaimer: i not advertising for them, just think it might be helpful if need to solicit accident vids...
  5. Footage was caught on camera of the windshield of a yellow bus collapsing forward after just a simple brake, with debris, paper and glass shards falling on the road, potentially endangering anyone that might have been in the way. Watch the video for yourself below: 293001512_166587272542244_5218574210698973237_n.mp4 Thankfully, nobody seemed to have gotten hurt. The windshield of the bus collapsed insanely easily, almost like it was glued together with the UHU art glue we used in primary school. Someone certainly messed up in terms of the quality assurance of the vehicle. The glass shards could have easily resulted in permanent damage to either the driver or anybody on the road, and it is definitely a blessing that it didn’t Clearly, this vehicle was also probably not subjected to those routine preventive maintenance checks, or else this incident might have been prevented. Perhaps, the regulation for maintenance checks needs to be stricter and more frequent as well. Netizen Comments Netizens have expressed their concerns about the potential dangers that the damaged windshield could have caused as well as the poor quality of the vehicle’s components. Personally, I think that a complaint should be filed to the manufacturer of that particular bus. We might not be as lucky next time to prevent severe injuries from occuring. Severe lack in quality that’s for sure. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. Accidents on expressways are common. When that happens, it is essential to turn on your hazard light and put up the reflective triangle sign to warn other motorists of the accident that is obstructing the road. Otherwise, this may happen: What Happened? The accident above occurred on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE). A white car with a damaged bonnet that was involved in an accident earlier stopped on lane 2 of the expressway. The blur sotong driver of the white car left it without its hazard lights turned on, nor did he put up a reflective triangle sign behind his vehicle to warn other motorists of this obstruction. Instead, he stood on the centre divider helplessly while waiting for assistance to be rendered. Just then, an SMRT taxi, a Toyota Prius travelling in lane 2, failed to notice the stationary vehicle and rear-ended it forcefully. The rear-end impact was so great that the white car's boot burst open. And within seconds, a Toyota Sienta travelling behind the Prius failed to react in time and rear-ended the SMRT taxi. The chain collision caused smoke to be emitted from the vehicles and debris to be flunked around everywhere across the expressway. So this is why ladies and gentlemen, don't be a blur sotong. Always remember to turn on your hazard light and use the reflective triangle sign in such situations. Here's wishing all those involved in the chain collision a speedy recovery! Netizens' Comments Either blind or they don't give a d@mn. I wonder which is more jialat... The Toyota Sienta got me lost for words. HAHHAHA the driver's palms confirm sweaty after that near-miss! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. The following incident took place along the causeway between Singapore and Malaysia. And needless to say, it was absolutely terrifying. Watch it here: What Happened? The incident reportedly occurred on the JB towards the Singapore side of the causeway. A Malaysian cargo truck lost control before ramming through an entire causeway worth of vehicles stuck in traffic, almost resembling a Grand Theft Auto gameplay. As a result, numerous Singapore and Malaysia vehicles were damaged, including a Singapore-registered Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. NGL, it breaks my heart to see an iconic JDM sports car get wrecked by the Malaysian truck. The Big Question Now, for the big question that has been on my mind since I watched this video. How on Earth are all those parties involved in the accident going to claim for their damaged vehicles? And also, I am guessing those Singapore-registered vehicles involved in the accident would have a hard time claiming their insurance, considering that the accident occurred outside of Singapore. Regardless, this unfortunate incident brought a massive headache and a ton of inconvenience for everyone involved. And hopefully, everyone involved in this massive accident are doing alright🙏 Netizens' Comments It is gonna be catastrophic. Damn, right it is! True dat! Regardless of what happened, it is important to count your blessings. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. Oh no! With another day in Singapore, yet another unfortunate traffic incident... This time, taking place at this West Coast junction. From here, we see a police car parked behind the trailer that is lying helplessly on its side as the surrounding traffic mills past, keeping a wide berth away from the accident area, cordoned off by orange cones. 291181420_1089185911999828_7590787707057688719_n.mp4 The trailer cuts a rather lonely, hulking silhouette with the space around it. Seemingly due to the violent impact of the crash, some fuel or engine fluids had spilled out from the upper part of the trailer: Already messy, it would be rather dangerous if these flammable liquids got spread further out onto the road or made contact with other vehicles. Thank goodness the area was bordered off. There were no ambulances sighted at the scene. We can only conclude that the driver either did not suffer serious injuries, or was already carted off to the nearest hospital by then. How could such an accident have happened? Was there a root cause? Some speculative comments left by netizens shed some insight onto the situation: This statement was corroborated by another person's comment: It seem like this sentiment of speeding is shared by, and agreed upon, by many! Another school of thought was presented by another commentator: Pot holes and roads at an uneven angle are huge causes for freak accidents like this one. It make sense, but seeing as many of us were not there, it is hard to objectively conclude the actual reason for the trailer flipping. As far as we can see, there are no visible potholes in the video... but perhaps their presence is only something that is known by those who frequent this road or area. We hope that the driver involved was not injured too badly. In the meantime, always stay safe and vigilant on the roads, readers! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. A netizen made a public claim on Facebook about Changi General Hospital (CGH) making a false statement in his medical report in an accident involving him and a Porsche 911 Carrera. In the public post, the netizen claims that CGH stated in the medical report that the motorcyclist (the netizen) skidded and collided with a car (The Porsche 911 Carrera). Read his post here: However, in the dashcam footage provided by the netizen, it showed otherwise. Watch it here: IMG_7665.MP4 What Happened? In December 2021, the netizen (motorcyclist) was side swiped by a Porsche 911 Carrera that had just merged into the expressway. The motorcyclist immediately lost his balance and fell due to the impact of the collision. Meanwhile his motorcycle skidded into lane 1 of the expressway. The netizen subsequently sought medical treatment at Changi General Hospital for his injuries following the accident. The Lapse Currently, the netizen wishes to seek clarification from higher authorities regarding the lapse in CGH's medical report. Furthermore, to seek the justice he deserves, the netizen tagged the Ministry of Health, Changi General Hospital and Mothership in his Facebook post to grab their attention on this matter. Several netizens went further by tagging our health minister in the comments. UPDATE (24/6/2022, 1400h) Changi General Hospital has reached out to the netizen in regards to his Facebook post. They have also released a statement on Facebook. Netizens' Comments If what the netizen claimed in his Facebook post was true, CGH would have to address this pressing issue swiftly. 10. Yesterday morning on the busy Seletar Expressway, a lone motorcyclist (and those around him) got the biggest shock of his life when he drove over a wooden block on the road. Due to the impact with the object, he then lost control of his bike, swerving like 'siao' until he was tossed onto the floor, with a hard landing. Ouch! As shown in the video, readers can see the obstacle was not that visible from far away. The video can be seen here The poor motorcyclist must have not seen it too, or he would have avoided it from the start. Aiyo, look at how the motorcycle and the rider were thrown onto the hard and painful road! It was shared that the lorry behind him then slowed down, stopping to render assistance to the fallen rider. Heng! There are still some good Samaritans in the world. Online reactions to the unfortunate incident were mixed, ranging from nasty: To chiding: As well as some kinder comments that expressed concern towards the motorcyclist: This well-meaning commentator managed to sneak a pun in: Steady la. Us Sinkie drivers may be a hot-tempered bunch, but we can still show empathy where it is due. We hope the motorcyclist is well and heals quickly from his injuries. 11. The number 1 rule before reversing your car is to always check clear your rear and blindspots before proceeding. Lazy to do so? Then get yourself a rear reverse camera, or you will be like this guy: IMG_7646.MP4 What Happened? I am sure we have all been stuck at the gantry for some reasons (Eg. Insufficient funds in cashcard, problem detecting your car's IU). And that was what happened to this particular Honda Civic driver - he got stuck at the carpark gantry. After what seemed like an eternity and having no luck in exiting from the gantry, the Honda driver decided to reverse out of the carpark gantry. However, this was where this 'Bodoh Kambing' screws up by not checking his rear and began reversing. The motorcyclist attempted to 'siam' the Honda by back-paddling but to no avail. Eventually, the Honda Civic hits the motorcycle. NGL, this is easily one of the most ridiculous accidents that could occur. Netizens' Comments Unpopular Opinion: Anyone can obtain their driver's license, but not everyone (with a driver's license) should be driving on the road. 👏 Whether the motorcyclist is in the yellow box or not, the Honda driver should have simply turned his head to check clear - nuff said. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 12. A Mazda driver tries for a lane change that did not end well. The incoming motorcyclist skidded off course and fell down at the side of the road. Onlookers came on to assist the motorcyclist but the Mazda driver had driven off without a second word. The news was that the rider had suffered minor injuries and abrasions on his leg. Watch the video for yourself below 286923215_1338749943301494_2605439203475040899_n.mp4 Netizens were divided over the main culprit for the cause of the rider’s accident. Some placed the fault on both parties Whilst others placed the blame entirely on the motorcyclist And others entirely on the Mazda driver However, it seems like the overarching opinion was for the innocence of the Mazda Driver, given that he did in fact utilize the turn signal, and managed to lane change at a decent slow speed. What do you think? Whose side would you be on in this situation? Either way, let’s wish for the well-being and safety of the cyclist who got injured. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. There's a Hokkien saying that goes like this: "kiang jiu ho, mai gei kiang", which simply means "Smart can already, don't try to be too smart". And NGL, this statement is very true! Watch what happens when two motorcyclists attempt their "smart" move to avoid congestion: What Happened? As usual, the Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) was jammed up during the morning peak hour. Among the many motorists caught in the jam were two particular motorcyclists who decided that they no longer had the patience to be caught up in a jam. One motorcyclist was riding along the shoulder of the KPE. Meanwhile, the other motorcyclist cut his way through from lane 1 to the shoulder of the KPE. And yes, you guessed it right - They ended up colliding with each other on the expressway shoulder when the latter was switching lanes to the shoulder of the KPE. Netizens' Comments During traffic jam means 'bo cheng hu' mah. Woah, this netizen here got no chill at all. Do you think this lesson will be enough for them not to ride on the road shoulder again?🤔 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. A pet peeve of mine is when commercial vehicles (Eg. Vans, lorries, tipper trucks) travel on lane 2 of the expressway. And I am certain this is a pet peeve of many drivers in Singapore. Due to the speed limit imposed on these vehicles, they often cause a slow down in the lane they are travelling in (assuming traffic is clear and they are driving under the speed limit). However, just because they are commercial vehicles, does it give them the right for passenger vehicles to "bully" them? Watch this video to find out what I mean: IMG_7319.MP4 What Happened? The accident above involved a lorry (cam-vehicle) and a Lexus RX300 SUV along lane 2 of an expressway. The lorry was travelling along lane 2 of the expressway at a constant speed before the reckless Lexus SUV decided to cut in front of it abruptly. Just as the Lexus RX300 switched lanes and accelerated, the car in front of the Lexus SUV also switched lanes simultaneously. As a result, the Lexus SUV performed an e-brake to prevent rear-ending the car in front of it. Unfortunately, the lorry travelling behind the Lexus SUV could not react in time and rear-ended the Lexus SUV with a significant amount of impact, shattering its rear window. It is noteworthy that the lorry was not travelling above the speed limit, nor was it speeding, as the lorry alarm could not be heard throughout the video. Netizens' Comments If you're a defensive driver, I am pretty sure you will have enough time to brake. Well said, sir!👏 Technically, the lorry is allowed to be on lane 2 of the expressway. But regardless, "Yes you can travel as fast as the other cars at 80-90kmh but can you stop as fast as other cars too?" is a very valid point for consideration. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 15. Personally, I strictly employ the 2-second rule, especially during heavy (heavier) traffic and wet weather. The extra distance and time provided by the 2-second rule will be crucial for you to react accordingly when the car in front of you performs an abrupt brake. Watch what happens when one doesn't leave a safe distance from the car ahead: What Happened? A total of 14 vehicles were involved in 3 clusters of accidents along lane 1 of the PIE, with two clusters being multiple chain collisions. According to the dashcam footage, both the chain collisions seemed to have occurred just moments earlier. The first cluster This was most likely the cause of the subsequent accidents. It involved 3 cars: A Toyota Prius A Toyota Vios A Mazda CX-3 The second cluster The most 'rabak' out of the three, involved a total of 8 cars and a mini-van. The 8 cars consists of: A Nissan Sylphy A Hyundai Elantra A Toyota Corolla Altis A Toyota Wish A Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class A Mercedes-Benz C180 Two unidentifiable cars that were squashed against the concrete barrier The final cluster The dashcam footage captured the last accident or final cluster, which involved 2 cars: A Honda Civic An Audi TT Unfortunately, despite being able to brake in time due to the ample safety distance ahead of him, the Honda Civic still got rear-ended pretty hard by the Audi TT. The impact of the collision caused the Honda Civic to surge several metres ahead. The 2-Second Rule Could the 2-second rule taught to us in driving school prevent this series of accidents? Possibly, if each driver practices this rule - Take a look at the Honda Civic that managed to stop in time with the 2-second rule employed by the driver. I am certain that with the 2-second rule, there would be fewer cars involved in the massive chain collision due to the added time and distance for each driver to react accordingly. Netizens' Comments I hope this clears up the confusion on why the Honda Civic was flashing his high beam at the cam car. I also wonder why🤔 Well, that escalated! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  16. Car sharing drivers have developed quite a bad reputation for their atrocious driving over the years. If you're wondering how bad they are right now, look no further. Here's a video that will make you facepalm yourself: What Happened? After failing to come to a complete stop at a stop-line, a GetGo Mazda 3 abruptly performed an e-brake to avoid t-boning a taxi. For some reason (most likely to give the Mazda 3 driver a death stare), the taxi stopped just in front of the Mazda 3. At this point, the Mazda 3 somehow gently rolls forward and collides with the side of the taxi. I am not sure about you, but this deserves a good facepalm moment. This incident serves as a prime example of the poor driving skills that the majority of car sharing drivers possess. Netizens' Comments MMMM..... 👁️👄👁️ Personally, I tend to avoid being around these cars. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 17. This has to be one of the most unique, one-of-a-kind accident you would have ever seen before. The aftermath of the accident might even be meme-worthy. Watch it here: What Happened? The accident occurred at around 7am, at Hougang Avenue 1. As the morning traffic started forming at a red light, a BMW 520i driver decided to perform an abrupt lane change from lane 1 (go straight/turn right lane) to lane 2 (go straight-only lane). Despite an oncoming Toyota Corolla approaching, the BMW driver insisted on squeezing through and changing lanes. Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla driver was either not paying attention, not practising defensive driving, or simply not fully awake. And needless to say, the BMW and Toyota collided with each other. The BMW driver decided to react by swerving to the right for some reason. And as a result, the BMW grazed the side of a Honda Civic that was in front of it. The back-to-back accidents left all 3 cars perfectly aligned in a straight line, entirely blocking off other motorists from passing through. The jam must have been so bad at this junction, considering the morning jam + the jam caused by this accident. And also, can I just point out how bad I feel for the Honda Civic driver, who was patiently waiting at the traffic light but got implicated in this accident? Netizens' Comments I would love to watch him crawl out from the boot! I can totally imagine this😆 Helicopter helicopter~ ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 18. Here I am writing two back-to-back articles on accidents involving reckless Singapore-registered vehicles in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This time, it involves a hotter hatch than the Volkswagen Golf GTI (Read it here) - the Mercedes A45 AMG. Watch the video of the accident here: What Happened? The following accident occurred in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in the early hours of 8th May, Sunday. A Mercedes A45 was gunning down the road of Jalan Johor Bahru - Kota Tinggi (Jalan Serampang Intersection) at high speed. Somehow or rather, the Mercedes driver lost control of his hot hatch and skidded. As a result, it slams into a total of five vehicles (including the cam car) before coming to a stop in the middle of the road. Among the five vehicles, four were waiting at a red-light in the opposite direction where the Mercedes driver came from. According to Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Headquarters, the Mercedes driver was tested negative for driving under the influence of alcohol and substance. Also, Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Headquarters have since launched an official investigation into this accident under section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Thank goodness those involved managed to escape with only minor injuries. Here's wishing all those involved in the accident a speedy recovery! P.S. I am guessing the Mercedes driver's insurance company ain't gonna be happy about this! The involvement of numerous parties and foreign-registered vehicle(s) seems like this will make this accident claim a troublesome one. Aftermath of the Accident Below are some snippets of the accident scene. The Mercedes A45 seems like it was damaged the most during the accident compared to the other vehicles - the hot hatch looks like a complete wreck! Do you think the A45 is salvageable? Or would it be heading for the scrapyard back in Singapore? Netizens' Comments Planking in prison? I can't tell if this netizen is being legit or not... I wonder if this works both ways🤔 NGL, its getting annoying. 19. One common behaviour of motorcyclists is how they always tend to lane split while riding. Furthermore, these riders lane split regardless of their level of experience on the road. Watch how an inexperienced p-plate rider learn his lesson the hard way: What Happened? The accident occurred at the Punggol Exit of the TPE, involving a Go-Ahead bus and a p-plate rider along with his pillion. Many vehicles were forming up for a right turn at a traffic light when a p-plate rider decided to lane split his way to the front of traffic. Unfortunately, the inexperienced p-plate rider decided to position himself in the blind spot of the Go-Ahead bus captain. As a result, while the Go-Ahead bus captain was negotiating the right turn, he inevitably sideswiped the motorcycle, causing the rider and his pillion to fall. Luckily, the rider and his pillion did not seem to sustain any major injuries, as the impact of the collision was not great. I guess this will serve as a hard lesson for the p-plate rider to either avoid lane split from now on or be more careful when lane splitting. Is lane splitting safer for riders? Some riders argue that lane splitting is somehow "safer", While other motorists argue that it is dangerous and riders lane split for their mere convenience to skip traffic. However, I have yet to understand how lane-splitting makes riding "safer". Any experienced riders care to do me a favour and explain it in the comments below? Netizens' Comments This man speaks from personal experience☝️ The rider clearly WFH for too long liao. The rider was trying to attempt some next level shit! "Experience is a good school. 20. I have to admit; this has to be either one of the most bizarre or reckless driving I have seen in a long time. Watch it here: What Happened? This unfortunate accident occurred along Brickland Road and involved a Strides MG 5 electric taxi, a Toyota Wish and a van. It all started when the Strides MG 5 electric taxi emerged from a slip road towards Brickland Road and accelerated at full speed. Despite traffic forming at a traffic light up ahead, it did not occur to the Strides taxi driver to slow down. Instead, the taxi driver decided to swerve to the adjacent lane to avoid rear-ending a lorry but still rear-ended another car, a Toyota Wish. During the collision, a van also sustained damages to its rear. It is not known how many were injured in this accident. However, here's wishing all those injured a speedy recovery! At a closer glance Initially, it seems like the Strides taxi driver was driving purely recklessly, which resulted in this accident. However, after taking a closer glance, I made a rather bizarre observation - The driver's side door abruptly swung open when the MG 5 was emerging out of the slip road (Video timestamp 0:24). Could this accident be caused by a medical-related complication experienced by the taxi driver? Or was it caused by the incompetency of the taxi driver? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Netizens' Comments The aftermath of the accident looks really bad... TBH, I highly doubt anyone would intentionally drive like that. LMAO! And yes, the watermark got to go. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  21. Have you heard of the domino effect? According to Google, it is referred to as "the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events". Watch the domino effect in action here: What Happened? A Honda Shuttle and a tipper truck slammed into each other as they decided to switch lanes simultaneously. The collision caused major damage to the Honda Shuttle, leaving it with a pretty wrecked rear with a shattered window. Debris also flew into the adjacent lanes, which caused a grey Honda Civic to jam brake on lane 2 of the expressway to avoid some pieces of small debris. As a result of the Honda Civic's emergency brake, a Kia Cerato Forte Koup behind it could not brake in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The rear-ending seemed pretty intense as the Honda Civic rolled several metres forward, despite its brakes being applied. Needless to say, the accident left the front bumper of the Kia a complete wreck too. Netizens' Comments The biker is very lucky. And kudos to him for remaining so calm! IMO, the Honda Civic driver most likely panicked and performed an e-brake. 22. Regardless of your road experience, motorists need to practice defensive driving/riding at all times. Unfortunately, some motorists simply take things for granted. Watch it here: What Happened? A motorcyclist was riding straight as he approached the exit gantry of the open-air carpark at Hougang Mall. Just then, a white Mitsubishi Attrage began moving off from his parking lot. Despite the Mitsubishi Attrage entering the rider's path and field of vision, the rider did not seem to perform any braking manoeuvre and continued riding straight. The rider only came to a complete halt upon a frontal collision into the side of the Mitsubishi Attrage. After that, both motorists alighted from their vehicles and started blaming each other for causing this unnecessary accident. The Motorcyclist's Perspective From the rider's perspective, the Mitsubishi Attrage should have given way to him as he had the right of way since he was travelling straight. Furthermore, the Mitsubishi driver failed to check clear for traffic when exiting the parking lot. In other words, he should not have exited the parking lot as there was oncoming traffic approaching him (AKA the motorcyclist). The Mitsubishi Driver's Perspective From the Mitsubishi driver's perspective, the motorcyclist was still quite a distance away from him. Hence, he decided to move off from his parking lot. The motorcyclist should have given way to him as half of the Mitsubishi Attrage's body was already on the main road. IMO, I think this is a 50/50 matter - Both parties should bear the brunt for their actions. And may I add, how this accident could have been avoided easily? What do you guys think? Who has the right of way? Netizens' Comments Nuff said. Many netizens seem to be faulting the rider for his lack of defensive riding. I think so too! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  23. Hi All, Recently I was met with this incident, Long story short: Nissan guy side swiped me as he was going straight on a RIGHT TURN only lane. I was on his left. Evidence from front and back cam submitted to my workshop and claiming third party. Both side reported accident but according to workshop he said that the other side is refusing to admit fault and insisted that I turned into him which the video clearly says it isn't. Workshop mentioned the third party insurance persuaded the driver to admit liability but he refused so now the process is stuck. Workshop told me that if the Nissan driver refuses to admit fault there is nothing we can do. But if the other party has already reported the accident and evidence is secured shouldn't the third party insurance determined whether whose fault is it and deciding liability instead of needing the driver to admit his fault? Appreciate if anyone can advise on this because a simple side swipe like this already dragged on for 2 months. Seems pretty much a way for insurance company to drag out the case until you give up in the claiming process.
  24. An unfortunate accident has occurred in the early afternoon of April 1st, 2022 (not an April Fool's Day joke) involving an oversized trailer. It was left overturned and engulfed in flames, emitting thick smoke. West Coast Highway Flyover has been closed off as traffic is impassable due to scattered debris and a fallen lamp post obstructing traffic flow. 25. Errant cyclists are a common sight these days. Every other day, user-submitted videos of errant cyclists or cyclists being involved in an accident never fail to be published on various online channels. Watch this video of an errant cyclist that was involved in an accident, which ends in a lowkey hilarious manner: What Happened? An errant cyclist blatantly disregards a stop signage and stop-line marking and continues to attempt to make a right turn. After looking left and right to check for oncoming traffic, he somehow fails to spot an oncoming Toyota Corolla approaching him. He then cycles into the path of the Toyota Corolla and gets hit by it. A Precious Bicycle I can tell the cyclist loves his bicycle a lot. So much so that he clings onto it even after getting hit by the Toyota. And the result of it is kinda hilarious - the bicycle bounces off the hood of the Toyota and lands on his head. NGL, this accident could have been worse for the errant cyclist. Today he may have suffered some bruises and cuts from this accident, but he may not be this lucky all the time. A Common Occurrence It seems as though cyclists just don't give a damn about their safety. Similarly, a colleague of mine also encountered an errant cyclist yesterday (30 Mar): Needless to say, this near-miss incident was enough for him to have almost "shit in his pants". Netizens' Comments Even his bicycle wants to 'knock' some sense into him. Its getting more and more ridiculous. Exactly why you shouldn't do things in a half-f@ck manner! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community.
