  1. I recently went for PPS (around 1 week ago). How do I wash my car now? I'm thinking of doing as such (mine's a white car): - 1. Wash off the dirt and soot using shampoo (Glare shampoo) mixed with water 2. Rinse, and wipe dry 3. Spray Duragloss 951 and wipe through Is this okay? Thank you!
  2. Really need to see the CCTV footage to determine whose fault A 28-year-old woman fell into gap in an escalator being serviced at Tanah Merah MRT Station last Monday. Miss Azlin Amran was stuck in the waist-deep pit for almost half an hour as Singapore Civil Defence Force rescuers worked quickly to free her. The unemployed woman, who was later rushed to hospital and sent to the intensive care unit, suffered injuries including a punctured lung, a fractured pelvis and spinal injuries. said her mother. SMRT told The New Paper that a barrier had been put up at the entrance of the escalator that was being serviced. But Miss Azlin had told her mother, Madam Azizah Mohd Lajis, 52, that there were no barriers at the escalator that evening. Read the full report in The New Paper on Monday (Feb 04).
  3. Hi all, I'm thinking of replacing the current stock audio unit (of my Hyundai Veloster) with Alpine ICS-X8. Problem is - While the switches for the Auto A/C climate is separately located, the "DISPLAY" is integrated into the stock audio head unit  I was trying to find out more, by googling, to over-come this issue but it seems that it's either not an issue or nobody seems to be talking about it. Hence, I was wondering if anyone here encounter similar issue and had overcome it (or had given up) ? Will I be losing the ability to display the Auto A/C Climate if I insist on changing into 3rd party head-unit ? PS: Hyundai Service Center's technician are equally clueless.... Sigh.
  4. The sad incident happened last year and the report on the ST report on the state coroner's findings was published two weeks ago. MCFers who are staying in old high-rise apartment do take serious note that some of the railing gaps may be wide enough for toddlers to squeeze through. In addition there might be stupid railing or parapet designs with horizontal bars/gaps which allows toddlers or children to climb over. From Straits Times: http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...s-life-20130321 Toddler fell to death two months after maid saved his life Published on Mar 21, 2013 10:07 AM Twenty-one-month-old Eric fell to his death after squeezing through the bars of a balcony on the fourth floor of a condominium unit. -- ST PHOTO: SEAH KWANG PENG By Khushwant Singh LAST April, a toddler was saved as he was about to fall from a fourth-floor balcony. Two months later, he was not so lucky. Eric Wong Yu Hao, a year and nine months old, fell to his death after squeezing through the bars of the balcony at a Hillview Green condominium in Upper Bukit Timah. State Coroner Imran Abdul Hamid, while saying he found that the death was accidental yesterday, urged those who look after young children to check possible dangers in their homes and put in safety measures. He pointed out that there are online groups offering solutions to make homes safe. "While I don't think anyone can guarantee that the suggested solutions will be 100 per cent effective, at the very least caregivers can have the peace of mind that what could possibly be done to make the home safe for young children, has been done," he said.

I'm one of those fortunate ones where my workplace and home's carpark is those cover type. When I came back from lunch just now (Rainly day), I proceed to wipe dry my car. Then I realised I'm the only one doing so in the carpark . Reason for me to do so. I dun want to complaint about having water mark later on. Just want to find out whether is there others who do the same. Do share your view.

  15. Fire said to be reduced then BOOMZ again Another explosion heard at Bukom SINGAPORE - An explosion was heard and seen at Pulau Bukom at noon today - just hours after Shell had announced in a press release that the chemical fires at the oil refinery island, which started at 1.15pm yesterday, had been "significantly reduced". Mr Ben Koh, who works at the PSA container port on the mainland across from Pulau Bukom, told Today he saw flames "suddenly shooting up from a distance" at around 12pm, accompanied by the sound of an explosion which he described as "an echoing boom". Since then, the smoke plume from the island has been visibly larger, said Mr Koh. The island is about 5km off the coast of Singapore. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed in a 12.30pm press release that "there has been a surge in the fire at the manufacturing facility", though the fire "is still contained within the bund wall" at the facility. Boundary cooling operations are being carried out using water jets, to prevent heat exposure to the storage tanks nearby, it added. Two fire engines had been "badly damaged" during fire fighting operations, while another sustained "partial damage", the SCDF said in its statement. No further injuries were reported. Earlier today, the SCDF said in a 6.30am press release that while 100 firefighters were still battling the fires, the situation was "under control". Six fire engines and 13 support vehicles were also at the site. The firefighters who had been working overnight were relieved and replaced by a fresh firefighting crew at 8am, the SCDF later added. In a 10am press release, Shell said it had "worked closely with the SCDF throughout the night to put out the fire at the Pulau Bukom Manufacturing Site", adding that "the fire has now been significantly reduced and is contained to within a bunded area". The six Shell firefighters who sustained minor injuries battling the blaze have gone back to their normal duties, said the oil company. "Staff have also reported for work at Pulau Bukom and controls have been put in place on movements in the affected areas to ensure their safety," it added. "Safety is our top priority. The units in the vicinity of the fire incident remain shut down as a precaution. As such we advise that a larger flare will be visible. The flare is a safety procedure and is no cause for alarm. There are no toxic vapours released." The National Environment Agency said in a public advisory on its website that no toxic gases have been detected on the mainland. The NEA has been "closely monitoring" ambient air quality since yesterday, it added. The increase in the three-hour PSI reading this morning (peaking at 68 at 8am) is due to smoke haze being blown over from South Sumatra, and not the Buko fires, an NEA source told Today.
  16. Dear all, Would appreciate Opel and Chevrolet owners to provide feedback on their after sales service. Thanks!
  17. Came back via JB Customs 24/9/2009. Usually cars will be moving on the LH lane after the Customs building, and buses join in on the RH lane. Due to SG Toyota Wish in front alway stepping the brake for no reasons, decided to follow behind the Causeway Link bus on RH lane. After the stretch where motorbikes join in on the LH lane, the bus start to slow down suddenly at the curve. Realized that there are several usually big potholes on the RH lane. Please take extra care at this stretch.
  18. A 31-year old Singaporean driver had two police vehicles hot on his wheels in a 15km high-speed chase on Monday night, which spanned from around Punggol West to Shenton Way. He was eventually nabbed for driving while under disqualification, and for his rash act. The police had been conducting an operation along the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) when the man's car whizzed past. He was found to be speeding, but did not stop when signalled to do so by the police. Instead, he stepped on the gas and sped off. The police began their pursuit, which started along the KPE around Punggol West and moved to the East Coast Parkway (ECP). The chase ended after the car turned into a carpark along Prince Edward Road around Shenton Way, and the driver found himself cornered by the two police vehicles. His car finally came to a halt after colliding with the police car. Police investigations are ongoing Bugger. Trying to mess with Mata S80

  21. after the closing date, can we still buy the bonds and if so how Are Genting Singapore Perpetual Bonds at 5.125% Attractive? All in all, I maintain that bond interest rates are currently very low due to the low interest rate environments. 5.125% is simply not enough to compensate me for an illiquid perpetual bond investment with no set maturity date considering my equities easily yield dividends of 6% and up. Also, with the denominations set at $250k minimum, it puts this issue out of reach of most retail investors except the high net worth individuals.
  22. extract from another site...I am also very puzzled with this method of squeezing $$ to generate revenue...read on My Point Termination fee not stated I WAS recently told by M1 that even though I had completed my 24-month home broadband contract, I would still need to pay a termination fee if I wanted to end the service. Why was the termination fee not made clear in the contract or on M1's website? Can the telco or the Infocomm Development Authority explain why there is a need for such a fee?
