  1. The luggage over-limit thing can understand but inflight service so CMI meh? From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...-times-20121109 90 mins to get hot drink on Qantas - after asking three times Published on Nov 09, 2012 LAST Saturday, I flew home on Qantas from Melbourne with my four-year-old child. I had a single piece of luggage, which exceeded the 23kg individual weight limit, but was within the limit for two. I had no problems about the luggage weight in earlier legs until the Saturday flight. The Qantas ground staff insisted that I pay an overweight charge. When I tried to explain, referring to the flexibility I was given on the earlier flights, he replied that he would charge me for those legs as well if I did not comply. I had to scramble to find another bag to repack, and meet the 23kg limit. Customer service on board the flight was poor too. I asked three times for a cup of hot chocolate for my child at meal time. It came 1 1/2 hours later, when hot chocolate was served to all. As a premium airline, does Qantas not know how to care for the needs of the young? Syndee Yap (Ms)
  2. This thread a bait? Come on
  3. After you fart in your car with other passengers on board if it's a silent one? Happened recently in my car but we were lucky as we happened to be driving thru NSHW somewhere halfway to Melaka where there is always pig stiles smells, it's was 6am and we had all windows down to enjoy the morning cold air way before the fart. So everyone else thought it was the pig smells :D I didnt have to do anything.
  4. Do not agree with the writer. IMHO 3 months is not what he envisioned a "reasonable time to reflect" but a short period to lie low for some to chut pattern once again once over. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...-point-20121023 Expunge demerit points after three months AS MANY people need to drive as part of their work, I hope that the Traffic Police can consider expunging demerit points after three months instead of a year. Motorists are already punished with a monetary fine, but still have to wait for 12 months for the demerit points to be zero again. Three months is a reasonable time for a motorist to reflect on the traffic offence committed. Chan Ban Choon

  7. STOMPer Helmi says this car was one of a group of five cars racing illegally down Orchard Road at 3am on Sep 11. According to him, the driver of the car fled the scene after the accident. The STOMPer wrote: "This accident happened so fast. "It happened outside my werkplace at around 3am on Sep 11. "A total of five cars were racing. The first four manage to pass by but the last didn't. "It hit a lamp post and a tree. The driver was not a responsible man and ran away." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...#commentSection

  10. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/artic...jectid=10832735 The father of a Kiwi facing up to 10 years in Singapore's notorious Changi Prison and a caning travelled with him last week when he finally turned himself in. Robert Stephen Dahlberg, a stock broker and former junior Tall Black basketballer, appeared in a Singapore court last week charged with causing grievous bodily harm - relating to an alleged booze-fuelled altercation in April 2010 in which two locals were injured. Dad Bill Dahlberg, a trustee of the Canterbury Community Trust, said despite his son having skipped the country in July last year, he had always been keen to honour his obligations, though he would defend the charges. "Robert did the right thing by going to the police in the days after the incident and voluntarily giving a statement. He continued to be concerned about the welfare of Mr Liew [one of the injured] and made repeated offers to pay for medical expenses and arrange for him to see a specialist. "Robert stayed in Singapore, gaining permanent residency status, for 14 months after the incident. It was a shock to us all when charges were laid." Last July, he paid a $23,000 bond to travel for business while on bail. He promised to return to Singapore, but skipped to New Zealand. Dahlberg returned to Singapore and was arrested upon arrival and appeared in court. His next court date is in two weeks.

Yahoo news: What Top Companies' Logos Looked Like Before They Were Famous Nissan: first and last Nissan's first logo was created in 1983 when Datsun adopted a new name. There have been few changes leading up to this most recent version, designed in 2002. Mazda: first and last Mazda's simple logo first debuted in 1934. 14. Hi folks, Never bought a car that is been STA graded. The purpose is to set my personal expectation (drawing from fellow bros' experience) when shopping for a 2nd hand car which I most likely to look for STA graded car. For those who have ever bought a STA graded vehicle, mind sharing with me on how soon the car encounter it's 1st repair (exclude routine servicing & wear& tear like brake pad/tyres &etc). STA Grade (e.g. A or B): Brand/Model: How old was the car when you bought it (e.g. 3 years old) How soon do you need repair after you purchased the car: Area of repair (e.g. aircon compressor, gearbox & etc): By the way, who will bear the cost of STA inspection (buyer or seller) ? And any idea how much ? Lastly, assuming 2nd car dealer absorb the STA inspection charges, should I walk off from the deal (due to the result), do I have to bear the inspection fees as well ? What's the normal practice like ? Many thanks for your input in advance.

  20. HSBC lax in preventing money laundering by cartels, terrorists source >> http://money.cnn.com/2012/07/16/news/compa...ney-laundering/ NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Global banking giant HSBC failed to prevent billions of dollars worth of money transfers that Senate investigators believe were linked to drug cartels and terrorist groups, according to a report released Monday. The Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said London-based HSBC (HBC) failed to review thousands of suspicious transactions and properly vet clients over the past decade. Among other issues, the report notes that in 2007 and 2008, HSBC's Mexico unit shipped $7 billion in cash to the bank's U.S. affiliate, a volume of shipments that law enforcement officials said could reach that size "only if they included illegal drug proceeds." HSBC Mexico had a number of high-profile clients linked to drug trafficking, the report says, as well as "a huge backlog of accounts marked for closure due to suspicious activity, but whose closures were delayed." The subcommittee also found that HSBC worked extensively with Saudi Arabia's Al Rajhi Bank, some owners of which have been linked to terrorism financing. Some evidence suggests Al Rajhi's "key founder" was "an early financial benefactor of al Qaeda," the report says.
