  2. Hi all. The aircon on the driver side of my near COE expiry car suddenly not blowing cold air. I have tried playing around with different settings and variations as advised by my mechanic but still the same. Any idea why is that so? TIA
  3. Hi all, I would like to request of any car owners out there who had rear aircon installed for their Toyota Wish and so far how reliable it is and if it will drain off battery or shorten the compressor due to sharing between main and this additional rear unit? Thanks a lot and appreciate!
  4. Block 1 Beach Road. Shop name wasn't reported. Knn so unhygienic
  5. If your aircon not cold and the shop tells you to change compressor, get a second opinion cos maybe only the magnetic clutch need to change. Change the clutch only $200, change the whole compressor $600. :)
  6. My car is 6years+ old .Just a few weeks ago detected that the aircon is not as cold before - it's ok when the car is moving and not when it's idle .I can hear the 'hissing' sound whenever the car is stationary . I check the fan - it's running fine and the compressor cuts in regularly . The temperature control knobs works fine . So last week went to my usual wksp to diagnose and they suspect it's the cooling coil that is leaking and they top up the refrigerant and ask me to monitor .However as the days passes , i can feel that the aircon is not as cold as the first day when the refrigerant was being top up , so i decided to go to Tomika in alexander village to check. I describe the symptom and finding to the boss and he quoted $880 all in for replacement of the coil and it's a 2 days job.(citing they have to remove the dashboard to get to the cooling coil)As i needed the car daily , I just ask them to top up the refrigerant and I left . Is the price reasonable ? Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated !
  7. Lately and quite frequently, after parking overnite or long hours, my car don't move when I engaged D gear. But R gear it can move backward. Even with 1 gear it doesn't move. Revving doesn't help. I discovered that with 2 gear, it moves. Then I change to D again, then it OK. What's is happening? My Nissan 8.5 years encounter first time encounter this problem. Last week, also first time, when on air-con, it doesn't work. Noticed fan not turning. After shaking a cable leading to the fan, air-con now ok. TG.
  8. hi Bros, any advice to regards to the above mentioned situation? when it rev to 3.5k rpm will have this smell? my frds say need to flush my engine... Is it true?

  16. Been holding this issue for quite sometime.... I bought a trends portable aircon last may from carrefour.... Going towards the end of warranty, the aircon start to have problem.... The problem is that every nite, the aircon will shutdown itself due to water retention full... I need to drain the water before it can start working. So i called the customer service and they 'fixed a date' for them to come and 'service'. They need like 10 days for them to come. But on the 'servicing' day, i was not at home, so i called the technician not to come and i will called cso to arrange another day. She said that, u have cancelled the date and the next available date is 10-14 days later. I said its ok, i want the service. Meanwhile, every nite need to drain the water... When the day came, the 'technician' came and take look and said that they need to bring back to office to check... I was like "what the hack" u just come here to bring back my aircon and u need 10-14 days to do that? I kept my cool.... Then he continue, this one, need to pay cos it is servicing and servicing is not covered in warranty.... And i look at him and i told him that every 2-4weeks i wash the filter and if water full, i will drain it. Why need servicing? And the sales advise me to do the above... He told me that, aircon need to send for service 2x a yr... And again i was like what!!!!!? But still i agree and ask him how long will this take? He said 8 days... And then he went off... Cut story short... On the 8 th day, i called and ask about my aircon, the f**king cso so rude answer me like a beng, and he said that my aircon need to queue and told me that once ready will give me a call. I shouted at him and ask him to talk nicely to me... He was taken a back and apologised.. I told him, i will call again next week..... I called them again and they said that my aircon have been repaired/service and is on trial run.... Again i ask, how long will this take... He said that once done, he will call me again.... 3 days later i called and they gave a date which is 7 days later for them to send the aircon. I still accept it. When they send the aircon, i was very happy cos i've been sleeping and pespiring at the same time for the past 3 weeks plus. So i decide to on the air con and enjoy it... Few hours later, my room was flooded.... I am very angry.... I tot of going to the press So i
  17. My car going to due in Dec 2015 and currently hunting a new car now .... Aircon start giving me problem last month, cool air instead of cold air blowing out. Went to see the "MCF recommended" aircon specialist in the north and was told compressor going to kaput. I was quoted $600-$700 for the compressor and decided just to top up aircon gas. After topping up the aircon gas, aircon is back back to norm until today. Went to seek 2nd opinion from another workshop in the north, this time was told the cooling coil leak and need to change else compressor will sure die soon. is it the compressor or cooling coil causing the problem or worst both need to change. Do you think my aircon able to "tong" for 4-5 months by just topping up aircon gas every month?

Maybe is I mountain tortoise I just learnt about Mitsubishi heavy industry, their air con is more fancy have self clean function and more technology above all that it is more energy efficient as compared to Mitsubishi electrical. Mitsubishi electrical is where we all know Mr jack will clean his air con when he is not testing car suspension. For this it is a really old design, high sale volume and the removable fin for easy Limited cleaning. Any feedback from the two Mitsubishi air con. Anyway asked a air con he claim that heavy industry clog very easily which I doubt so but if he say Heavy industry would have a higher riskier of failure due to the new component I would agree. (side talk York aircon very fancy can wireless control air con(mountain tortoise) Rustyz
  21. I wonder if this is real and works. If it does, it will be wonderful for our climate. A living room standalone aircon plus compressor costs close to 2K already, maybe can give this a try instead. Stay cool. http://observers.france24.com/en/20160602-bangladesh-air-conditioner-plastic-bottles-technology This air-conditioning unit is made out of plastic bottles and works without electricity (all photos provided by the GREY group) BANGLADESH 06/02/2016 How Bangladeshi inventors are making eco-friendly air conditioners from plastic bottles Become an Observer LoginContribute Forgot your password? What can you make with old plastic bottles? A vase? A flowerpot? … an air-conditioning unit? Believe it or not, you can. When inventor Ashis Paul came up with an innovative way to draw cool air into homes using plastic bottles, his whole company got on board to help teach people living in rural Bangledesh to do the same. Since February this year, they’ve helped people to install these units-- which don’t need electricity to function-- in more than 25,000 households in developing areas of the country. “Most people live in tin huts… in the summer, it’s like being in sauna in the Sahara” Jaiyyanul Huq Jaiyyanul Huq is a creative director with the Grey Group, the advertising company that spearheaded this social project. We are a flood-prone nation, so in rural Bangladesh, most people build their homes out of tin, instead of mud. About 70% of Bangladesh's population lives in these homes. But the problem with these tin huts is that they get unbearably hot in the summer, especially in northern and central Bangladesh. I’ve been in these huts. It’s like being in a sauna in the Sahara. One of our creative supervisors, Ashis Paul, started thinking about ways to bring relief to these people. He was turning it over in his mind when one day, he overheard his daughter’s physics tutor explaining to her how gas cools when it expands quickly. Ashis has an "inventor" mentality and he’s always been fascinated by science. So, he started experimenting. He told us about his idea of making an air-conditioner out of plastic bottles. The simplicity of the Eco-Cooler is incredible. Ashis Paul designed the Eco cooler. How to Make an Eco-Cooler To make an Eco-Cooler, you cut plastic bottles in half and then mount them on a board. Then, you place the board over a window, with the bottlenecks facing towards the inside of the house. The change in pressure that occurs when air enters the wider part of the bottle and comes out through the bottleneck cools the air. It seems uncanny, but the principle is simple. Blow on your hand with your mouth wide open. The air feels hot, doesn’t it? Now, blow on your hand with your lips pursed. It feels like a cool breeze. The Eco-Cooler doesn’t require any electricity to function! "We finalised it just as the weather was getting hot" The Eco-Cooler can decrease the temperature by 5°C immediately. When it goes from 30°C to 25°C, I can tell you that it makes a difference. The Grey group decided to take it on as a pro-bono project. We like to give back -- it’s core to our company. We decided to make and distribute these units for free. We designed the first prototype in March last year and finally finalised it at the end of February this year. That’s just when the weather starts getting hot in Bangladesh. “The streets here are littered with bottles, so the raw materials are easy to find” To distribute the Eco-Coolers, we teamed up with Grameen Intel Social Business Ltd. because they work in a lot of villages in Bangladesh [Editor’s note: Grameen Intel is social business platform that’s a partnership between NGO Grameen and the company Intel]. We sent our teams out to the villages where Grameen Intel works to teach people how to make our Eco-Coolers. The beauty of it all is how easy these units are to make. First of all, the raw materials are easy to find: people don’t recycle here, so the streets are littered with bottles. We show people how to make them and then ask them to both do it on their own and to teach others. We also made a how-to pdf that’s up on our website and includes an easy step-by-step process. It’s free and people get immediate results!

  24. I know most of the air con installer are using armaflex insulation. Apparently, Best Tech from IMM offer this pretty insulator which is call Yamato from Japan. The cover diameter seem like plastic wrapping that prevent water leaking from the insulator. Just want to hear some geniune feedback if anyone is using this Yamato and how good is it.
  25. Confirmed that my BMW (316 96model) cooling coil is leaking. After topping up gas, the aircon is cold. After few day, when I on the aircon, smoky particles was blown out and afterthat, not cold anymore. The workshop recommended to use OEM copper coil which is cheaper ~$400+ and more durable (at least 4-5 year no problem) rather the original coil which is aluminium, more ex. ~$1,100, though faster cooling but may leak again in just 2-3 year time. The whole repair work cost ard $750 which inclusive labour + materials (copper type cooling coil, dryer, expansion valve) + 6 month warranty. Is the cost reasonable? Anyone can recommend a good repair workshop and price reasonable?
