Mr Ridhuan Abdullah, 30, had identified himself as a security officer at "Keith Morton" on the post, which triggered the move. 6. Why when a bank rings me up do they ask me to verify who I am?? I see no point. They do not require me to verify when I receive mail from them. In fact it is the bank who should verify themselves to me before I give them personal details about myself. OK it is different if I ring the bank. Of course then I have to verify myself.

  8. Im wondering how to make our Gov wake up their mind. Its not the 1st time I came across such news, in fact, such case happened to 1 of my close buddy at AMK. It obvious case that its the pedestrian fault and why driver tio charge until so jialat? Is Gov trying to encourage the pedestrian to be more careless as they are protected by law no matter what? I undestand that the jaywalker already deceased and I shouldnt rubbing salt on others wound but I really pity the driver... he is the actual innocent fellow here. I hope government could be more fair when handling such cases. Dont give people the wrong impresssion and continue to try their luck on the road. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/fine-driving-ban-for/1330614.html SINGAPORE: A 77-year-old retiree was fined S$7,000 and banned from driving for five years on Tuesday (Aug 26) for causing the death of a pedestrian through his negligence. Willie Chan York Jen pleaded guilty to causing the death of 75-year-old Mr Mohamed Ibrahim Yusoff while driving along Lorong 2 Toa Payoh at the cross junction of Lorong 6 Toa Payoh on Dec 21 last year. At about 5.45pm that day, Chan was driving along Lorong 2 Toa Payoh and heading towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on his way home after playing badminton with friends. He stopped at a red light while travelling on the four-lane road at Lorong 2 Toa Payoh. When the traffic light turned green in his favour, he proceeded to drive straight across the cross junction. He did not see Mr Ibrahim, who began crossing the road when the red-man traffic signal was displayed. Chan failed to keep a proper lookout and Mr Ibrahim was hit by the front right corner of his car. Mr Ibrahim sustained head injuries, and was bleeding from the mouth and became short of breath. He fell unconscious and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he died later that night. Chan could have been jailed up to two years and/or fined for causing death through a negligent act.
  9. ...to stop lying. http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/...729-362053.html AsiaOne Sunday, Jul 29, 2012 SINGAPORE - Mr Kelvin Ong Wee Loong, the founder of AristoCare centre, charges a whopping $250 per lesson for parents of primary school students looking to clinch a place in the coveted Gifted Education Programme (GEP). GEP is a highly selective academic programme in Singapore, designed to identify the top 1 per cent of students from each academic year. On his website, the 36-year-old claimed he was previously from Clementi Town Primary before being admitted to Anglo-Chinese School's (Primary) GEP in Primary 4. He further stated that he went on to attend Anglo-Chinese Junior College and the National University of Singapore, before becoming a teacher in the GEP programme at his alma mater. However, checks by the Ministry of Education (MOE) revealed that Mr Ong was neither ever a pupil nor teacher in the programme, The Sunday Times reported (SUT) He is not even a qualified teacher, and according to ACS (Primary), not even a student of the school. MOE was alerted to the claims when SUT ran a report on parents sending children for costly tuition, where Mr Ong was featured as a highly sought after tutor. In response to the revelations, Mr Ong said it was his mother who told him that he was from the gifted programme and he could not verify it because he does not have the records from the past. [laugh] Knn, he himself dunno wan meh? What kinda lousy liar is this? He has since cleaned up his website and now claims that he was a relief teacher at ACS (Primary) from 2002 to 2003 and 'helped out' with the gifted classes. Lobang pichar still want to lie somemore. However, this too is being disputed by the ACS (Primary), which said that a check with all its long-serving teachers revealed that there was never a Kelvin Ong who taught there as a relief teacher. This is not the first time Mr Ong has faced allegations of misleading claims. Two parents have asked him to remove positive testimonials supposedly written by their children, saying that their children never wrote them. In 2010, Mr Ong also got into hot water with MOE for selling fake 2009 GEP Screening and Selection Test papers. [email protected] Who bring their children to this fark dup centre? I wonder why MOE do not shut down his centre and blacklist the liar. Should sent him to jail for fraud.

  17. Saw this pop up on my FB feed last night. And not too bad timing either, saw some lady driver not being able to park properly over the previous weekend, taking up slightly more than one lot in a two lot bay, so probably, no other car would be able to park there, unless it's a Copen or a Mini maybe. Wanted to leave her a note telling her to park properly in future (only saw the driver when she came back and I already had a lot). Would have left one of these cards on her windscreen if I had it. https://www.facebook.com/CopyBoySG/posts/302403793248197?stream_ref=10 The name's slightly wrong too, haha..

  20. Dunno posted here, but this deserves a thread! This breaks my heart! Good boy and this had to happen! Sigh. http://youthphoria.stomp.com.sg/breaking_news/article/4097 Student killed in Sin Ming Ave accident was excited about poly life By Joyce Lim The Straits Times Sunday, May 11, 2014 It was a dream come true when Tien Kang Fan got into a polytechnic. The former Bishan Park Secondary School student was thrilled as he had not thought his results were good enough. He had started at Ngee Ann Polytechnic just two weeks ago, in what his mother said were "probably the happiest two weeks in his life". But it has all come to an end for the 18-year-old logistics and supply management student, who was taken off life support on Thursday morning after he was run over by a lorry on Monday and left brain dead. Getting into a polytechnic had given Kang Fan hope of a good future, in which he could provide a better living for his parents, said his good friend Koh Jun Wee, 18. And he had worked very hard, his father Tien Yoon Seong, 49, a construction supervisor, told The Straits Times at his wake. "My son was never afraid of hard work. He spent long hours studying every day to prepare for his O-level examinations," he said. "He needed help with his schoolwork, but delayed asking for tuition as he was worried if I could afford the extra expenses." Kang Fan was crossing the road at Sin Ming Avenue just past 7am last Monday when the accident took place. He was on his way to school. He was excited about poly life, said his mother Lee Kim Ling, 52, a hawker assistant. She recalled how he would jump onto her bed every night to tell her about his day in school. "He was like a big boy, showing me photographs that he had taken in school of his activities and friends," said Madam Lee, her voice trembling. Kang Fan's parents had no doubt that the second of their three sons would do well in life. Many described him as sensible and hard-working. Kang Fan's former cashier colleague at FairPrice, who gave her name only as Madam Lew, said: "Whenever there is a school break, he would work to earn some extra money. I always see him taking his mother to the supermarket and he would pay for the groceries. "He would also help the elderly carry their groceries. It's a pity he died so young," said the 50-year-old. Police said a 55-year-old Singaporean lorry driver is helping with investigations. The accident killed another pedestrian, Madam Khoo Thuan Kheng, 72. Almost a hundred relatives, friends and teachers as well as former colleagues from FairPrice turned up at Kang Fan's wake in Ang Mo Kio. He was cremated on Saturday.
