It did not disclose financial terms of the agreement. 'This is a significant turning point for us since it marks the beginning of Hankook Tire's foray into the high-end automobile market,' said executive vice president and head of Hankook Tire China Choi Jin- Wook. 7. New Audi 1.8 TFSI Engine Revealed Text & Photos edited by Clinton Deacon Source: Audi AG 09-28-2006 TFSI technology underwent its baptism of fire in the victories at Le Mans, the toughest endurance race in the world. The superiority of this combination of petrol direct injection and turbocharging has now been demonstrated on ordinary roads in the 2.0 TFSI, which has been available since September 2004. Audi is now stepping up its campaign with the successful TFSI concept: the new high-tech 1.8 TFSI engine combines sporty dynamism with outstanding smoothness, and blends a spontaneous power characteristic with ample refinement. The new engine generation bears the project number EA888 and follows in the footsteps of the already legendary 827 series, one of the most successful families of engines in automotive history. This compact, high-performance, economical four-cylinder version made its debut back in 1972 in the Audi 80. In the intervening years it has been fitted over 40 million times as the power unit for countless Audi models and various other vehicles of Volkswagen group brands. It has been steadily refined over the years, always remaining at the cutting edge of technology. Pioneering achievement by Audi The latest evolutionary stage of this engine range is the much-acclaimed 2.0 TFSI. At Audi, it is being used in the A3, A4 and A6, in three different performance versions ranging from 170 to 220 bhp. The 2.0 TFSI has most latterly demonstrated its special potential in the new Audi S3, with an output of 265 bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine is yet another pioneering achievement, because Audi has once again become the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in volume production. The result is an engine that is not only very popular with customers for its power characteristic and propulsion, but has also garnered the approval of the experts: a jury of 56 leading journalists from 26 different countries awarded the 2.0 TFSI the title of "Engine of the Year" for two years in succession (2005 and 2006). This was therefore an ideal basis for developing the next logical stage. Audi's engineers had drawn up a long list of tasks for the new project. Right at the top

  9. Hi guys, In the market for a used Audi A4 or Lexus IS200. What do you guys think of these two cars? http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2EMHIkud-1056.html http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2AJGNK3-1162.html Mainly attracted by the selling prices. Love the sunroof on the Lexus and rear-wheel drive. The Audi A4 on the other hand look really clean and well-maintained.
  10. Looks elegant yet aggressive. Let's hope that the real model looks like this.
  11. is there a mercedes/audi club/forum in singapore?
  12. The following is an article from GermanFanclub.com "The 2.0 TFSI delivers 170 bhp in the Audi A6. This free-revving, high-torque and, at the same time, economical engine combines petrol direct injection with a turbocharger. Audi was the first manufacturer to introduce this technology in series production. Boasting 280 Nm of torque, available across a wide speed range from 1800 to 4200 rpm, the FSI engine offers excellent pulling power at any time. The A6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and touches a top speed of 227 km/h. Its fuel consumption measures just 7.9 litres per 100 km." I believe this is a good alternative to the E200 and 520i in Singapore.

  16. I went to an Audi driving event in Chicago last Saturday. This is the kind of promotion event where they allow you to test drive different Audi cars, and "educate" people about the safety and performance features of Audi vehicles. The show highlight is two vehicles Audi Q7 and RS4. Didn't pay much attention to Q7 when there's RS4. RS4 is 4.2 liter v8 FSI 420hp and Quattro awd. They bring us to a stadium's parking lot, where they setup cones to form an autocross circuit. Technically, I wasn't allowed to drive. But they allow everyone to sit as a passenger in the RS4 while a professional driver take a spin on the track. All I can say is WOW.. This machine goes from 0-100km in 4.8 sec. With the professional driver controlling the car, the ride is as scary as a rollercoaster ride, except the acceleration G feels mind numbing. Acceleration and handling wise, this car is quite amazing.

  20. The Audi TT is finally unveiled. All assumptions on how it looks are either confirmed or debunked! This is what the world will get its hands on come 2007. The new Audi TT! Please note that these are neither concept shots nor photoshopped images. These are official pictures. So this is the real thing. Now for my opinion. I think it's such a letdown, especially after all the hype and teasing. I don't know whether you guys can recall, but i remember being weak in the knees and falling in love the with Audi TT TEN years ago when it first came out. It was such a shocker, a trendsetter. Now, the 2007 Audi TT just didn't live up to its predecessor. Yes, it's nice of course. But don't you think Audi (or VW for that matter) just merely facelifted the car? I mean, they just didn't have the balls to create another trendsetter. It seems that they're too intoxicated by the success of the original TT formula that they're just ran outta fuel. The rear looks nice, but it's a facelift of the previous TT's rear. The front looks nice, but it just blends with the rest of the audi range (taking cues from the nuvolari concept). Yes the new Audi TT looks nice, but it just doesnt excite me. I think many of you feel the same as i do. What a letdown. Oh yea, somehow the headlamps remind me of the new ford focus'. Anyone think so too? Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. Can't imagine they took ten years and came up with something so conservative. My wife calls it a "cowardly attempt at remaking a legend". She still loves the original TT.
  21. More of the new Audi TT. They are admittedly photoshopped pictures, but they are from the Audi TT website. Why are they taking so long to show us the real thing... What a tease...
  22. Dunno what this car is but it looks very cool with it being a diesel. OK this page will tell you more about it. http://www.audi.com/audi/com/en1/experienc...rsport/r10.html OK I downloaded the video (14.5MB) from the page. It is cool. Very cool. You have to see it.
