  4. 'Devilish' couple prowl Internet for 'sex' victims Fri, Feb 27, 2009 The Star/Asia News Network HARIAN Metro reported about a "devilish" couple who use the Internet to lure men, especially rich ones who are hungry for sex, and then rob them. The wife would seduce the men with sweet and "dirty" words when chatting online. After their cyber relationship gets more intimate, the woman would ask the man to meet her at a location, the paper said. When they meet, the woman would say she was sexually deprived by her husband, and that she would set a second date for them to meet at a hotel for sex. At the hotel, the husband would suddenly appear and pretend to be all furious to discover that his wife was cheating on him. He would accuse the victim of seducing his wife, who would also claim that she was forced to have sex by the man she befriended through the Internet. The husband would then beat up the man and rob him of his valuables and possessions. Before leaving the poor fellow, the couple would threaten to tell other people about the illicit relationship unless he paid them to keep their mouths shut. The couple's scam was revealed by MCA Public Complaints Department chief Datuk Michael Chong, who received three complaints involving the couple. In one complaint, the victim was forced to part with RM50,000. "The couple are so slick that their victims do not realize that they're being tricked," said Chong. Any such cases in SG?
  5. Every morning, there is a TP stationed under a flyover next to the Australia International School, to snap photos of drivers driving under the flyover, though there is no bus lane yellow marking on the road. We received two summons of $130 each. Do drive with caution.
  6. Fire Evacuation Drill : Beware, It Might Be Your Last Big companies and offices in high rise building often conduct 'Fire Evacuation Drill' once a while to get it staff to familarise with the fire safety ....... But with the recent recession, this drills might be your last drill ....... Subject: Last Evacuation Drill In a large multinational company.............. A fire alarm rang at 4 pm in a large office when almost all employees were in office (approx 5000). As usual the entire office was evacuated within 3 mins & all employees gathered outside the office in the designated area, waiting for further announcement. The Security Officer in charge made the following announcement: "Dear employees - with sincere regret I have been asked to announce that for many of you it will be your last evacuation drill. Due to the recession, the company is laying off almost 50% of its employees. So when this announcement finishes, I ask all of you to move back into the building and if your swipe card does not work then it means you have been laid off in which case you will not be allowed inside and all your belongings will be couriered to you by tomorrow. The Company has used this innovative approach as we didn't want to fill up the email box with lay-off mails and good bye mails in thousands & also to avoid any fight inside the office and the consequent security issue for all staff. Hope you have had a rewarding career with us and all the best ahead. Please move back in & try your luck. Thank you". So, if the fire drill is activated, please double checks before leaving the building .......

  8. Hi, All If possible, try NOT to be the last car to cross a traffic light from a heavy traffic jam. It happened as follows: There were 3 cars in front me. My fren (another car) was on my right with 5 cars. When traffic turned green we moved on as usual. My fren happened to be the last 2nd car to cross. Then the famous JB white ant stopped him - offence was that he crossed at red traffic light! We were VERY VERY sure that the light is green and NOT even amber when we crossed. The best part is his opening speech was: CNY on 26 rite? Family in car rite? You dun wanna have accident rite? etc....etc..... The worst part is that he told my fren that Rm50 is not enuff to cover his Rm300 summon. Then he started making noise on his walkie talkie on something about reinforcement. My fren remained in the car thru' out the incident, all belts on with family as well. At last, it was settled with Rm100.......... Just an ass luck this happened! We just have to lautgh it off by consoling ourselves that the S$50 will be covered by the cheap petrol nexts trips. I hope this lesson will act as a CAUTION to all JB visitor for the next few days to CNY. Just be careful!!! BTW, I was also informed that the new backseat belt rule in M'sia is not applicable to foreign cars. True, or again settled to under-table as usual. Its a 'boleh' counry afterall! Happy CNY! PS - Please dun be misinterpreted: I am not condemning or quoting about what's good & bad, going or not gong to JB etc.......I'm just alarming all JB visitors (local or non-loca) to take note on this incident. All countries have their certain attractive points to invite visitors - biz or leisures......CHEERs!

  12. An SG CNG user went to JB and forgot to lock his car. Came back and coin box was empty together with the cylinder from the boot. Electronics and injectors are still present. The JB thieves are damn hiong I must say. The cylinder weighs as much as a human being and pulling it out from the boot is hard. Remember to lock up.
  13. China is well known for imitation. Also notorious for poisioned milk. They also have car manufacturers trying to copy other reputable/established brands in term of design and brandings. Didn't know they also have fake KFC . Please see attached : http://lifeinchina.cn/thread-12015-1-1.html Regards,
  14. I guess this isn't new, but in times of recession, there may be more and more people coming out with similar antics. My uncle was about to drive off his lot when he heard a few hand-inflicted bangs on his boot. When he came out of the car to check what happened, a burly guy approached him and insisted his car banged his body. He claimed that he's injured and demanded compensation. There is no way that my uncle banged into him as he was driving forward instead of reversing. A large commotion started and that burly guy was joined by two more guys demanding compensation. A fight almost broke out and my auntie had to separate the guys by using her body as a shield for my uncle. Before a scuffle started, she pulled by uncle into the car and drove off amist the yelling of those guys. Perhaps we can share more road scams here to educate forummers

  16. Atten members of the public, RE: Conman online Please beware of this conman going around online by the name of Delvin Teo. His full name is Delvin Teo Jin Wei ( IC no.:S85xxx44C), Hp: 9xxx7788. He is very active online selling HID lamps and LED lights in the various car forums. He tells everyone that his family owns New Eastern Food Industries (which specialize in Bak Kwa) and that he is the sales and marketing manager for them ( please refer to the attached documents). Furthermore, he is very flashy in his ways, telling people about his various fictitious assets which are all lies. Delvin Teo is in fact a fraud and a con man. He is in no way related to New Eastern Food Industries Pte Ltd and was never an employee or shareholder of the company. He was never a representative of New Eastern Food industries in anyway.( please refer to attached documents) Delvin Teo is such a congenital liar that he has lied to his close friends of 10 years about the truth about his
  17. look like singkapor got new ways to catch all those smokers who are smoking ciggies that did not pay the duties..... extracted from Asiaone.... -------------------------- http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...0910-86954.html Starting January 1, 2009, all duty-paid cigarettes sold in Singapore will be legally required to be marked with the letters SDPC, which stands for Singapore Duty Paid Cigarettes. This new marking requirement, which will visibly differentiate duty-paid cigarettes from contraband cigarettes, is in line with Singapore Customs' intensified island-wide operations to curb the peddling and possession of illegal cigarettes. All unmarked cigarettes from January 1, 2009 will then be considered illegal. Each illegal packet of cigarette currently costs the offender $500. Mr Fong Yong Kian, Director-General of Customs, said, 'The availability of cheap duty-unpaid cigarettes will hamper our national effort to discourage smoking. Singapore Customs is committed to keep illegal cigarettes off the streets.' Arriving travellers and returning Singaporeans who have brought in cigarettes from overseas for their own consumption are advised to keep their receipts as proof of payment of duty and GST when checked by Customs officers.
  18. STOMPer Peter sent in a video to show how old tyres, which are kept in storage and unused for many years, may blow up and endanger lives of drivers and other motorists. He says: "I would like to share it with our fellow Singaporeans to equip them with some knowledge on what to look out for when they are buying a set of new tires for their cars." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...t.jsp?id=33132# Beware Tyre Shop
  19. I got this email from a friend, not sure if it's true or not ====================================== Dear All............ Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day 'above the clouds', we decided to have dinner at the Gohtong Jaya area on the way down. We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended 'sultan fish'. The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine. But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg ( & please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant. When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct !! Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first. Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood,PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo. Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list. =========================================== any comment
  20. I just received this circular (Ref: BME/18/08) from the police and I thought I post it here to warn everyone. Dear Vehicle Owners CRIME ALERT FOR THEFT OF LUXURY SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLES (SUVs) Over the past 2 weeks, several thefts of luxury sport utility vehicles were reported across the island. The models targeted were the Lexus RX class, Toyota Harrier and RAV4. Despite being equipped with security systems, the car thieves had managed to compromise them and drove the vehicles away. 2. The vehicles were discovered missing the following day after being parked overnight by their owners. On two occasions, broken glass was found at the scene where the vehicles were last parked. It is believed that the culprit(s) gained access by smashing the rear passenger windows before disabling the alarm system. 3. While Police investigations are underway and patrols increased at affected locations, it is pertinent that owners remain vigilant and adopt the following measures: - a) Remove the ignition key and double lock your vehicle whenever it is left unattended - even if it is a short period of time; b) Do not leave your car key inside the vehicle; c) Consider fitting additional safety devices such as steering-wheel lock on your vehicle. Anti-theft devices should be regularly checked / serviced to ensure their effectiveness; There are people that avoid M'sia becuase they are worried of getting their rides stolen but looks like it's not that safe in S'pore either....
