  1. Yearly depreciation of close to $10k. Is this an overpriced old beetle? http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-nxk8sG3-1000.html If one is really keen to own an old piece of beetle, he could just have bought a much cheaper beetle and spend the money on restoration. It still won't add up to $40k. What do you think?
  2. Only 3,000 customers will have the opportunity to own this truly special edition. http://automen.blogspot.com/2007/03/2007-v...iple-white.html
  3. Hey guys, last night i saw a silver old beetle at Henderson coffee shop. the vehicle no. EA42**L. VERY chio and nicely done up. the sports rim also one of a kind, vinatage. anyone knows the owner?
  4. Am thinking of getting the Beetle 1.6A as I've always liked the shape of the original, but need a modern car with auto trans. I'm aware that its a bit underpowered, but hope that it has the typical German car build (ie, robust and quality). Any New Beetle owners here can advise on the maintenance cost/ reliability of this car ? And the service at the agent ? Noticed that the car OMV is only around $20K, but the basic car is really very basic - so the agent markup is quite high - does this translate to better service ?
  5. Hi guys, Can anyone share with me online interests group for VW Vintage Beetle? Went to VAGSG.com but there wasn't much. Also, workshops that specialise in VW Beetles in Singapore / JB. Considering getting one!
  6. Am interested in the New Beetle but not too impressed with the current engine. Anyone knows when will the new engine (fitted in Golf for 1.6L - 115bhp) will be available for the New Beetle in Singapore? Thanks.
  7. Hi all, A colleague is very keen to do HUPER or VKool on her beetle. When i enquired abt this fr a workshop that installed huper on my car, the boss says that he's not willing to do, as it is too difficult to fit the large and curved windscreen. Is this true? He also claims that no one in market is really confident of doing it well. Anyone has done it before?

    The VW Beetle

Hi there! I'm abt the take that huge step to get my first car - with help from daddy of cos. And as a gal, i really like the Beetle (always been my dream car), from a girly fashion point of view of cos. :oP With the recent drop in COEs - i've been quoted $91,888 - less $1,500 if i take more than 50% financing (which is likely), and less 3 months instalments free (max $2500). Is this price ok? would it be more worth looking out for a 2nd hand? How abt servicing? Is the Beetle a sturdy car? is it reputed to break down often? i'm a A to B person, and i'll take good car of it, i.e. wont thrash it abt. Parts may be expensive to find and replace? thanks for advice, ppl.. kimmy
  9. Hey , fellow pal, do your know where to get those car models? i intend to get one beetle model for a frnd as bdae present, but duno where got sell.
  10. Perhaps the most technologically advanced convertible in the world. Click here to view the animation of the transformation sequence. File is approximately 1.5 MB is size. Alternatively, if you have broadband, click here to view the version with DVD-quality sound. Warning: BIG FILE, approximately 4.7 MB. But well worth it. On the downside, the car will probably cost more than a Mercedes-Benz SL convertible.

  12. (Taken from Motor Trend) The Mexican subsidiary of German carmaker Volkswagen unveiled on Thursday the "final edition" of the unique auto known to millions simply as the Beetle, which will conclude the manufacturing of this cult classic. Only 3,000 units of this special edition bug will roll off the Mexican plant's assembly line, and they will be priced at 84,000 pesos ($8,000) each. Volkswagen plans to sell 2,999 of these vehicles, but the last of the Beetles to roll off the Puebla assembly line on July 30 will be sent to its headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, to become part of the firm's museum collection. Puebla state Gov. Melquiades Morales and Deputy Industry and Trade Secretary Rocio Ruiz attended the event. Present also were Reinhard Jung, president of the executive committee of Volkswagen Mexico and company representative in North America Jens Neumann. "Real stars know when it's time to retire, and it's well known that the public does too. This is what's happening to the sedan," Neumann said. "A Volkswagen consortium legend bids farewell with a final edition, but its disappearance does not mean it will disappear from roads, least of all in Mexico," Jung said. The automobile executive noted that the firm has made 21.5 million Beetles worldwide since the car first appeared in 1950, and 1.7 million of these were manufactured in Mexico. Volkswagen executives said the final is a "retro" edition, with little change from the first 1934 German prototype. All the "final edition" cars will be either sky blue or beige, with chrome motor and trim, whitewall tires and the dashboard and instruments will be the same color as the outside of the chassis. The glove compartment will bear the inscription "final edition" and the German firm's logo will grace the hood of the Beetle. Volkswagen has invested more than $3.6 billion in its Mexican plant since 1964. Some 10,000 people work at the Puebla plant, which is the German automaker's largest in the Western Hemisphere.
  13. Hi Guys I have a new VW Beetle 1.6. Car generates lots of wind noise at highway speeds. Car & Cars have tried to realign the doors and this helps a little but I am still not very satisfied. Any ideas as to how I can eliminate wind noise in a Beetle? Any aftermarket door/window seals that I can try?
  14. Hi Guys, Anyone has a good and reliable mechanic who specialises in old beetle to recommend. I'm actually asking on behalf of a friend. His mechanic's attitude is turning from bad to worst...so he thinking of switching. Thanks to all in advance!
