  1. fact is it is really easy, have DIY it myself. Change fuel filter took me couple of mins to do it and cost me $3 for the fuel filter. Nothing too complex. simple easy step to change fuel filter 1) Take out the fuse of the fuel pump then start the engine, engine will stall in a while as no fuel is pump. 2) locate the fuel filter and pull out the hose connector 3) take out old fuel filter and replace with new one 4) connect hose, earth wire to fuel filter and place back fuse for fuel pump. That's all, 15-20mins and its done. If u care for your car, why just change oil filter, must also change your fuel filter But oil filter change every 30k km whereas oil filter every 5-10k km when u change engine oil As for brake shoe for the rear wheel, it is really tough job, took me 1hr for 1 wheel front brake pad is much easier, about 15m and the DIY is done for 1 wheel Take a look here
  2. After 33Kkm, I think that my brake rotor disc is warpped (New set of tyres with balancing and allignment). Steering vibrant during high speed. Has anyone claim it under warranty from PI workshop? I claimed before from Honda AD during warranty period. From AD, normally they just change a new set of disc. I am not sure how easy to claim from PI's workshop. My PI workshop is Spark Care Centre. Maybe PI's workshop just do the skimming? Thx in adv for sharing.
  3. 4. Dear brothers and sisters of MCF, This morning I experienced "groaning" sound coming from the front when I was braking from speed ranging from 30-50km/h. I didn't drive my car after last Sunday when I drove through a mini flood till today morning. My steering doesn't feel any jerk while braking but the sound sounds pretty scary, I haven't tried high speed braking yet though. So I was hoping to hear some advice from you guys. Should I go to a workshop to do a check? If yes, do you have any reliable and recommended workshop to do a quick check? (preferably not too far from the east) Thank you so much in advance! Regards, Tsr729
  5. Hi, does anyone know where can i get JBT brake pad locally? Many Tks
  6. My brake pads / rotors are in working condition and are not worn but at very low speed braking (below 10 kmh turning into side road, for example) sometimes it makes mild screeching sounds. Incidentally, cold morning also same sounds when i move the car out from the carpark. Any bro experience this? Workshop has checked it and said nothing wrong with the brakes.
  7. I need to change my calipers already. and my front brakes are 6pot TAROX. which workshop is the authorised dealer in singapore?

  9. Hi MCF bros, i having problem with my car hand brake indicator. The (!) signal never light up when i pull my handbrake. Is it due to my fuse blown? Can anyone advise?
  10. hiz guys, encounter something which caught my attention. as refer to the pic attached below, tis area is the connection between your brake hose to the caliper itself. the chip off area is around/outside the threaded part. From wad i know, tis is a 2nd hand brake kits. 2nd user only use for daily street driving & no tracking. I would like to ask the bros/sis here: 1) anybody knows wad causes the damage, due to- a) hard braking b) normal wear & tear issue due to long usage c) OR any others reasons? Until now it still puzzled me. [confused] Perhaps other bros have met tis kinda of cases b4, can kindly enlighten me. many thanks in advance for all the input. chip off pieces damaged area
  11. Hi I have a 2003 corolla, mileage 45k (genuine, odo not adjusted). 1 week after going for 40k servicing at BM (got discount), there was a knocking noise from the rear when I brake. It happens when I brake at low speeds (0-40km/h) but not at high speeds. The tok tok sound has higher frequency at like 40km/h than at 10km/h. I do not feel any change in the brake pedal feel or the braking power. So I brought back to BM and after test drive, they said rear brake rotors need to be replaced. I was like huh, there was no mention of brake rotor during servicing? They said they informed me to monitor an EEEE sound (another separate issue) when I reverse and brake. They also said it could be dirt or debris getting in the brake pads/rotors that caused it to wear out. I was quoted $457 nett to replace both rear rotors. Anyway I was not convinced by their explanation. During servicing the brake pads and rotors were cleaned. Could it be possible that when putting the brake pads back after cleaning, they were not positioned properly, causing the rotor to wear abnormally? This is just my guess. Or is it really time to change the rotors (they are 8 years old)? I would like a 2nd opinion so which workshop (reliable and honest only) should I go to let them see what's really wrong? Any other suggestions or solutions? Thanks alot!
  12. Just change my brake rotor and wondering whether need to redo the alignment?
  13. Last week went to a workshop to change my front brake pad cos sometime there will be like a groaning sound like those from heavy vehicle when i do a slow full left turn. But the mechanic said that my pads were still ok but discovered that my right wheel was not rotating as smooth as my left wheel at neutral gear. the mechanic adjusted something near my break pedal (donno what cos i cannot see) and use a mechanical clamp ( that work in the reverse direction) to force the cylinder back. any bros here had similar experience? is there such a thing as brake cylinder servicing? Thank you in advance.
  14. Hi all, I starting this thread to let other drivers know and be aware of other vehicles spotted on the road with either only 1 or no(zero) brake light working. These vehicle can easily cause accident to the driver behind. I spotted a silver taxi, SHD1310H, on sunday morning. It had no working brake lights at all. I followed it 2 junctions and videoed it. Video as from my youtube on it.

  16. Hi all, My car has been under warranty with Khang Auto for the last one year plus. Just 25000km ago, Khang Auto at Sin ming advised me to change the brake pads to my car. I willingly said ok (as it is a safety issue). Now, 25000kms later, I hear a squeaking noise whenver I brake the car. I am puzzled as to why the brake pads wear out so fast. I went to the authorised agent of the car (I did not go back to them as Khang Auto will void warranty if i service the car elsewhere) and they advised me that the brake pads have worn out! Throughout my driving career (though not very long, about 9 years now), I have not heard of brake pads wearing out so soon. For peace of mind, I went ahead to change the front and rear discs and brake pads with the authorised agent. After that,I wanted to clarify with Khang Auto if they actually changed the brake pads...and guess what the manager there told me..."I checked with my technician and brake pads normally wear out at 25000kms" This is really crap...I am not some F1 driver and I know that brake pads wear out around at least 40000kms. I cannot say for sure that Khang Auto did not change the brake pads for me...but I am highly suspicious of them. Please....just a warning that you patronise them at your own risk. And to think that they actually do this kind of job for a safety issue, it reflects on how they think for their customers.
  17. Guys, any brake system to recommend for SUV?
  18. I have installed a brake vacuum enhancer which will increase the vacuum stored and to enhance braking performances. It also give extra few braking even when engine stop or stalled, thus giving extra safety in case traveling at high speed and engine suddenly stall http://bit.ly/lqtyTc
  19. When i go above 110km/h, i brake, the steering vibrate, low speed like 80-100 no such problem. whts wrong, wheel balancing? also nowadays, in the morning, when i start the car, the brake will give a onnnnn onnnn sound when moving straight without me applying the brakes. simi taichi ar? it goes off after a while...

  22. Hi guys, Would like to know whether there is any thing that can be done to prevent my front wheels to be covered with the brake dust after a couple days on drive? Cause very often the car looks clean but the black front wheel rim just makes it so dirty. Thanks !

  24. I have a rusty rotor..... it is getting on my nerve. I know it is normal for the contact area with the caliper to be rusty.... But my whole rotor is freaking rusty including the area that is joining the wheel hub. I just change my stock rotor to "Brembo After market" and it freaking rust badly. Can anyone recommend me a shop that does painting for the rotor. thanks
