  2. Vandal caught scratching car in Hougang By Wong Mun Wai, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 12 June 2007 2104 hrs SINGAPORE: Tired of being victims of a vandal, Hougang resident Ang Shuenn Guan and his wife decided to set up a camera to capture evidence. And it worked - one video clearly showed a hand running beside a car. The person who was filmed vandalising the resident's car later confessed to the police. "My wife showed his photo to him and asked if he recognised the person. He was surprised and asked [how] we got his photo. My wife asked him what he did to our car. He said he did nothing. After that, I said everything is recorded by closed circuit TV. Then he confessed in front of the police," said Mr Ang. The next morning, a letter was left on the couple's windscreen. The letter-writer had offered to settle the matter out of court and compensate the couple for the damage. The letter from the culprit's wife addressed to the Ang's read: "I am pleading with you to give our family a chance". The letter is dated Monday, and continues with her hoping to "settle this matter among ourselves". The offer does not address the damages done to other cars which have also been scratched. Mr Ang, who called the MediaCorp News hotline, had to fork out about S$6,000 for repair works. It is not the first time cars in this area have been scratched. Victims say the vandal targets cars belonging to those who live in Block 636, Hougang Avenue 8. - CNA/yy http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../281786/1/.html
  3. When i turn right at a junction, to a 3 lane road (left being the bus lane) there was a long queue building up in the centre lane. The bus lane was cleared.. i need to make a left turn at the next junction. So i travelled in centre lane and before i reach the queue of vehicles in the centre lane, i switched to the bus lane about 10 metres before the broken yellow lines. There was a huge bunch of jaywalkers crossing the road... the guy with the tripod was 'camouflaged' in the bunch of jaywalkers.. when i saw him it was too late! i was caught about 10 metres before the broken line! no excuse? i have to queue in the centre lane till i reach the broken lines? sigh..
  4. There were a number of cases reported when cars caught fire. Anyone have any idea what might the reason? I am thinking of doing DIY Grounding and I am concern could this be one of the causes or could it be other mods done?
  5. I received a letter today that my co. van was caught emitting black smoke. I called the hotline but could not get through. Must I bring the original log card when I send it for inspection? As the van is on loan, the bank holds the orig copy of the log card. What tests will the van be subjected to?
  6. Extracted from http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost1917.aspx Your car windows may be tinted too dark for Malaysia. Lawrence Lee, 47, was on his way to Malacca on Feb 10 when he was stopped by the Malaysian traffic police for having side windows that were too dark. According to Mr Lee, the traffic police tested his windows and found that the light transmittance was about 30%, below the 50% required in Malaysia. Mr Lee was fined RM300. The official website of the Malaysian transport authority states that 70% of all light must be able to pass through the front and rear windscreens and 50% of light through the side windows. Offenders can be fined up to RM500 and even be imprisoned up to 2 weeks. In comparison, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) allows darker rear windows in Singapore: the resultant light transmittance for the rear windscreen and rear passenger windows only need to be more than 25%. For front windscreen and front side windows, the requirement is 70%. In other words, your tinted rear windows may be perfectly legal in Singapore, but run afoul of the laws in Malaysia when you drive up north. "I just want to raise the awareness that you can be booked for things other than speeding, and I urge other drivers to be careful," Mr Lee explained. "I wonder if they'll book me for my big sports rims next time?" Looked like Malaysia damn "Bway Song" Singaporeans and is trying to find fault with us, sometimes I was thinking, is it worth risking going inside??

  8. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost1917.aspx Please beware before you enter North. But I see many SG cars here have their windows very tint which definitely fail the LTA specs...hmmm
  9. Nowadays cars are not just meant for transport or motorsports. It can be a love hut too. My fren was caught with his pants down in his car with another woman by his wife whom has been secretly tailing him. I really respect his wife patience as she actually waited till the right to catch him in action. If you are in such situation, what would you do???As he now turned to me for advise.
  10. I skip my lunch to do some shopping at Autobac and whilst on the way back travelling along Upp Bukit Timah Road to turn left to PIE just before Anak Bukit flyover. There is a EMS tow truck & a TP WRX blocking the entrance into the slip road toward PIE. They are diverting all traffic towards Clementi Road. Don't know what the reason for closing the slip road. (Any MCF members who pass by the area could unlighten us what had happen) With that closing, there is a jammed starting from the traffic light junction of Clementi Road and Dunearn Road till Upper Bukit Timah Road (behind Beauty World). Turning left to Dunearn Road, caught in another jam which started from Turf City entrance (due to a 10 wheeler lorry breakdown) to Binjal Park. Passing, Turf City and proceed down toward Whitley Road to exit to PIE but caught in another jam from Whitley Road junction Steven Road till Khiam Hock Road. The stretch of Steven Road is complete jammed up to Henderson Road. (Reason unknown) What a day ? Anyway, whilst caught in the jammed for the past 45 minutes, nothing heard from radio of the road closure (Anak Bukit), jammed along Dunearn Road and also Steven Road. I was hoping that radio would anouce to warn drivers to avoid those road but nothing heard. Why do we have to pay radio licence when such useful information is not pass to the listeners. Only received anouncement of raining, lowerst & highest temp for the day and blah, blah, blah.... Something is very wrong here and need to be checked.
  11. There must be at least 50,00 to 100,000 cars who travelled North between Xmas and New Year long holidays. Please poll and discuss your 'wonderful' experiences . Msian TP has always been my favourite topic of discussion.

  13. OK this thread to remind all illegal street racing is bad. (mai delete hor) Johor Baru North traffic police chief Inspector Bakri Zainal Abidin said 34 people were detained for illegal racing, including two civil servants and two students. More than 400 cars and 150 motorcycles, including some with Singapore registration plates, were impounded. The weekly races offered winners lucrative cash prizes and the promise of sexual favours from young women. The races have attracted hundreds of people, participants and spectators, mostly youths, over the past three months. Minutes before police moved in yesterday, spectators who had parked their vehicles by the roadside were cheering as the motorcycles and cars lined up. With engines revving and horns blaring, everyone was anticipating the race

  19. BMW's secret project caught with guard down By Toby Hagon Motoring Editor February 11, 2004 BMW's latest project, a vehicle planned not to reach dealerships until December, has been photographed undisguised during promotional filming at Point Cook. Until now, the 1-Series has only been photographed in its heavy disguise, but this picture was taken on Monday in Greg Norman Drive by amateur photographer Cameron Waldon. It provides a world-first glimpse of what the car looks like. "They had security there and were asking people what they were doing before letting them through," Mr Waldon said. "Every time someone came past they would put a car cover over it so no one could see it. It kept driving around the round-about, and the security guards were not letting anyone within about 30 metres of it." Digitally altered images generated by the lucrative automotive "spy" industry have also provided a realistic idea of what the new BMW will look like. But BMW is not going into details about what is considered one of the most important new models in years for the German brand. "The car was out here for a brochure shoot," a BMW spokeswoman said. "It was stored at Tullamarine and trucked to the location. The car has already gone back to Germany." Costing from $30,000, the 1-Series is intended to introduce young buyers to the brand in the hope they will one day move up to a bigger, more expensive model. It will sell on BMW's strengths of rear-drive dynamics and attention to detail. It is not unusual for development cars to be photographed on test in Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory where the speed-unlimited roads and high temperatures push a car to extremes. But such road test vehicles are always heavily disguised. There have been regular sightings of the 1-Series in Europe, where it has been driven around covered in black cladding to hide it from cameras. Some car makers like to take publicity photographs and film television commercials in Australia. Three years ago the then new Mini was pictured in Sydney before its release while, more recently, the Lexus RX330 luxury off-roader was also spotted in Sydney. 20. BMW was set to reveal to the world its 1 Series at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, but we hear that debut has been pushed back to the Paris show in October. Regardless of its official unveiling, we have the first-ever on-road look at the little Bimmer, courtesy of our intrepid spy shooter who spotted this 1 Series undergoing winter tests in Sweden. The car is slated for launch late this year with the five-door, shown here, first out of the blocks. A three-door will follow six months after that. An interesting feature seen in these pictures is the small rear hatch, making it look sportier than the Volkswagen Golf, one of its main competitors. Power in Europe includes a variety of gas and diesel engines; there are no announcements yet on U.S. specs. Expect prices to be about 20 percent less than a 3 Series, putting it in the $25,000 neighborhood. Can a 2 Series be far behind?
  21. Hi Bros & Sis, Before I bought my Matrix, I saw this black Matrix parked at a parking lot right in front of Eunos MRT station twice. It's very sporty. Dark tinted glass windows, comes with full skirting and the word "MATRIX" in black and white sticked at the backseat window. It really caught my attention. Would like to know who that particular car belongs to as I would like to pose a few questions pertaining to that car.
  22. Has anyone ever being caught by ROV for using Lexus Altezza taillight on your Mitsubhishi ? onemotoring.com does not specifically say whether its allowed or not allowed
