The number plate on T4s are mounted in such a way that it blocks part of the lower air intake grille. The same goes for the 2 horns mounted behind the front grille. Someone suggested that if the number plates & horns were relocated to ensure no air blockage, up to 5bhp gains could be had. Sounds great as this must be the cheapest mod in the world! Any views on this? http://www.easternaerospace.com/automotive...r-obstructions/ Summary: This should be one of the first mods you perform before increasing the boost settings of the turbo. The intercooler is like a radiator for the compressed air your turbo generates. By cooling this compressed air prior to it entering the cylinders, you get better expansion of the compressed fuel/air mixture when it's ignited, and the cooler the air, the less likely your engine is to experience detonation, (a condition where the fuel ignites from the pressure before the spark plug can fire). By removing obstructions, (i.e. the horns), from in front of the intercooler, you get more airflow through the intercooler, which means the intercooler becomes more efficient and can cool the air even further before it enters the engine. Just removing the horns alone can increase the engine's performance by as much as 5HP.
