  10. Would like to share my unpleasant encounter with Imperial Zshine (formerly located at CSI building, kim chuan drive, near Hougang Ave 3 and another outlet at The Legends at fort canning hill). Last year July they came out with a promotion of $150 for 5 polishes and will valid for only 15 months. It was too good a deal to believe. However, having met the boss (named Jack) personally before, thought he's quite a nice chap and trust worthy hence I took up the package. In Oct 07, they close down the CSI building branch and they are only left with the one at Legends. Since early this year, I've been trying to book a slot for polishing but was always unsuccessful (he always claim they are fully booked). Its only recently that when I ask for further available dates, then he says fort canning under 'renovation'. I further probed when would the renovation be completed then he says they're closed! He then 'refer' me to his partner (named Robert) who runs mobile polishing services. He told me Imperial Zshine close down already and he has nothing to do with it. If I want his services, gotta pay. He even challenge me to go and make a police report. I know that $150 is not a lot of money, but felt that they are out to cheat people of their money (using the cheap package as a bait). Not sure if any of you out there are also cheated by this company. I will be lodging a police report in hope that they will get their appropriate punishment. Their contact numbers are as follows: Jack - 9109 872! Robert - 9106 917) If you're signing up any packages with any of these 2 guys, please beware. Don't fall into the same trap as me....
  11. Hi all, need some advice here: 1. Was travelling along Upper Hokkien Street. It has parallel parking lots on the left and right. Two Mercz each inconsiderably parked along both side of the street. Car A on hazard light and Car C not on hazard light. I am the car B. 2. I took the judgment to grazed my Civic through the centre and I on my left right signal light. When at in between the two, my side mirror somehow hit the right side mirror of car B and I gone a feeling that Car A was actually wanted to move on at the sametime too. 3. Upon impact, I stopped my car further up and walked back to the Mercz. The driver is actually a chauffeur and the boss just sat inside. The drive talked to me nicely that my side mirror hit his and has a hairline crack at the edge of the side mirror lamp. Then he followed me to look at my Civic and there was no bruise, no dent and no damage at all. By this time, Car C already drove off. 4. We both exchanged our particulars and I told him that I will file a report with my insurance company then moved on. I then went to the insurance company and reported the case. 5. Subsequently the chauffeur and his boss secretary called me one after another asking me to pay them a sum of about $170 for the damage over this weekend. I consulted the insurance company and they told me that if I don't think I'm entirely at fault, then should let both sides' insurance company settled among themselves. 6. Right now, I'm not sure whether I should just pay up or not since it is a small amount. I have a clean and max NCB so would a claim of $170 damage my record? On the other hand, I'm feel rather upset to see two mercz parking like that and obstructing traffic there and I ended up as a victim. Please advise me. Thank you very much. Regards,
  12. Sounds like PCM... (This is based on an actual experiment conducted in U.K.on 8 monkeys) Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder. One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder. A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he's not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he's attacking the new monkey. One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why. This is how any company's policies get "Established". hmmmmm...... sound familiar...... , after long times, no one queries the company policies. everyone just says, ppls had been doing it for years/decade.... , why change now......

  15. April 28, 2008 Not fair to blame all car workshops for high claims I REFER to last Monday's article, 'Puncturing inflated motor claims'. We take this opportunity to correct some misconceptions concerning motor insurance claims and put them in the right perspective. Repair costs usually vary due to different repair methods, parts used and quality of repair. In cases of cash repair, owners usually ask workshops to minimise repair cost, by repairing instead of replacing parts. In such instances, workshops are also not obliged to provide repair warranty on jobs and materials used. Incidental cost like loss of use or replacement cars will also not come into the picture. On the other hand, in the case of insurance claims, professional loss adjusters appointed by the insurance company or car owner assess the damage and recommend the cost to repair the car back to roadworthy or pre-accident condition. In the case of newer cars, new and genuine part replacements are often expected. It is also essential for workshops to ensure good quality repair and to provide warranty. With the involvement of adjusters, workshops are therefore not in a position to 'inflate' repair bills. The total claim amount submitted to insurance companies would also include the incidental costs not found in the case of cash repairs. While insurers have pushed the bulk of the blame for their losses on 'inflated' claims, they have not detailed their respective payouts on repair cost and expenses for car rental, medical expenses, survey fees, search fees, legal fees and so on, thus casting a wrong light on repairers. It is also interesting to note that insurance companies are often willing to pay distributor workshops a premium price for repair, but accuse independent workshops of inflating claims, even though they charge a much lower price. We give an example here. In one instance, our member proposed to replace a windscreen for about $700 but was turned down by the insurance company. It later came to light that the insurance company paid around $1,500 to the distributor workshop for the same job. There are black sheep in every trade but the majority of honest workshops should not be unfairly implicated with such general accusations. We are open to work with the General Insurance Association to address the industry issue if it is willing to respond to our numerous requests for dialogue sessions. 17. Hi Guys, Anyone know if there's a complete company directory listing for Taiwan companies? Actually I'm looking specifically for a company in Taipei called "Shuai Chi Jean Boutique" at Raohe Street. Appreciate any input. Thanks.
  18. I believe all of us have been working for some years. Lately, I heard from a pal of mine about the company he is working in. I was extremely amused... The company is a large local setup and involved in the water business. For example, S$30 per diem for all overseas trip regardless of location? Mind you, the 30 bucks also cover meals and transport. 2ndly, only AVP and above can requisite for LEAD for their Mechanical Pencils. When I heard it, I fell off the chair! It was so hilarious! Any other interesting KIAM SUP companies and stories you have?

  21. Home > ST Forum > Story Dec 6, 2007 Terror ride in cab pursued by repossessor ON TUESDAY I had a terrifying ride in a TransCab taxi. I had just hailed the cab when a car pulled up next to it and the driver demanded that the cabby not pick me up, leading me to suspect that the driver might be a road bully. Fearing for my safety (I was by then in the cab) and that of the cabby, I told him to drive off to avoid any confrontation. The cabby claimed that he did not know who the driver of the car was. Thus began my most terrifying taxi ride. The driver tailgated the cab and the cabby drove hurriedly throughout the journey, trying very hard to shake off his pursuer. At one point, the cab veered dangerously into the path of a filtering bus. The 10-minute journey seemed like the longest taxi ride I ever had. It was frightening to think about what might have happened. A road accident? Or an ugly confrontation - we have heard enough of road bullies, haven't we? It was upsetting to learn later that the pursuer was a repossessor for TransCab and he was chasing after the cabby for payments he had defaulted on. The incident left me exasperated. It made me wonder if the taxi company had any regard for the safety of commuters or, for that matter, the safety of other road users. Was there no other way to recover payment? Were there no guidelines for repossessors, to safeguard the safety of commuters? Sarah Tan Li Choo (Ms) http://www.straitstimes.com/ST%2BForum/Sto...ory_183859.html Quik Quik... .FAQs!!
  22. Will be taking over my friend's car. First time owner...so need you guys to advice which insurance company is cheap and good coverage? Also, how much is the Interest rate for 2nd hand car loan? got bank to intro??
  23. Hi all, with the price of petrol shooting up and up, care to share what is the mileage claims your company offers to you? How much per KM?
  24. I got into an accident two months ago. I hit another car's door while attempting to avoid a BMW which suddenly swerved into my way. The repairs on my car has been done but there's no claim form the other party on my insurance. My insurance company sent me a letter saying they want to pay me $50 x 8 days = $400 for my 'loss of use' in accordance to my policy. But the letter I received is a 'DISCHAGE' letter. Upon signing(as taken from the letter), I would agree to accept the sum of $400 and final claims I may have against the Insurance company in respect to the accident. And the Insurance company shall be fully discharged from all claims I have or may have in respect to the accident. The other party has not claimed against me yet. Does this mean the insurance company won't let the other party claim from them if I signed the forms? Or does this letter refers only to me as the insurance company has already authorised and paid for my car repairs? Advice please...
