Hi, me thinking of getting a car, just an advice from current car owners. What is the cost of owning a car? Assuming I got a New Honda City 1. Downpayment of 15K. 2. Monthly fuel cost 3. Loan of 10 years 4. Maintenance 5. Tax Please also assist in computing for OPC for Honda City. Conditions same as above except for tax and 17K rebate. Sorry, I am a first timer of owning a car, so i will wish to know how much expenses to fork out for that. Thanks

Hi I have been eyeing the Octavia for the past few years but the New Octavia 1,6A (probably MPI) with expanded cabin is really appealing to me. I would appreciate if existing Octavia owners provide me some numbers in running cost. 1. Annual insurance (w/o discount) 2. tire cost 3. fuel consumption (from another thread, its about 10-11km/l average) 4. maintenance (frequency and cost) 5. common defects (eg. water vapour in the lights, aircon leaks) 6. quality issues 7. durability of the parts 8. reliability (breakdowns, eg fuse box blown in another thread) 9. resistance to chips and knocks on the body 10. Existing 1.6A MPI performance (my driving style is bias toward FC, of course occasionally I need to clear carbon) Thanks

Hi there, 1. Did you guys encounter situations where the petrol cost is usually higher when you pump in some petrol stations? Given that you always pump the same grade, same petrol company, same unit cost and almost at the same oil level. 2. When I say higher, it means more than $5 in difference. Please feedback. Thank you. How much would it cost to change the extractor, piping, free flow cat and muffler? LTA approved and non-LTA approved? Which shops do you guys recommend? What kinda of improvement is expected? Mine's a N16 FL Sunny manual. Any feedback would be good.

Time to replace my baby's badly worn out disc rotors and brake pads. I'll be collecting my new disc rotors from Korea, and using Mintex Silverline. Anyone knows of a cheap reliable workshop for the job? I gather it should cost around S$80.

Hi all... I planning to get a car soon.. Quite interested in subaru. Have been reading and searching thro the post for subaru TS but not much I can find. I looking for a 2nd hand Subaru TS.. say about 3-4 yrs old... So far the prices have been in the range of 48000 - 55000. Just wondering roughly wat is a acceptable price.. Want to find how much to pay when booking car. Last Weekend SE told me min. 10% down, then +1st installment, then +motor insurance. me shock since always hear only 10% down. So is this usual practice or only those BIG car companies eg BM demand this?

Hi, Can any1 care to share what is the maintenance cost of the Optra although I know quite a handful had managed to secure free first three servicing. Pls share the cost, the location of the official svc centre (is it still starauto @ portsdown road?)....and finally quite a few chevy had probably run in...Pls post average fuel consumption of the MANUAL version. The auto seems to be in the 10 ~11km/l region. thx.

My wife drives a 6 year old Nissan Sunny. I cannot remember the last time it was serviced. Definitely too long ago. Problems: --------- - I think the suspension is totally dead - Tires pretty much gone too - The engine stalls if I turn on the aircon too soon after starting the car - There is some kind of oil leaking onto the ground from beneath - nearer the engine - (Not sure if the auto transmission fluid, brake fluid etc etc are still good) What do I tell the mechanic to do and how much is it going to cost me ?

Hi guys, I'm new here so please bear with me cos I'm ignorant to many things. Still picking up and learning about cars bit by bit. I would like to know the total approximate cost for the items listed below: (1) Changing of timing belt (2) Changing of all fluids (brake, auto trans...) (3) Checking the shock absorbers for possible damage --> mechanic told me only tightening is required as the absorbers are still in good condition. (4) Changing of all lamps (brake, front, signal...) (5) Checking of undercarriage for damage --> mechanic told me all is fine and that the nuts have been tightened (6) Changing of air con filter and air filter (7) Knocking out some dents and removing a few scratches to the paintwork in both the front bumper and rear bumper (8) Fully synthetic servicing (4 pieces of denso iridium spark plugs used) (9) Wheel balancing (10) Tire rotation Thats about all. I drive a Mitsubishi Lancer Mivec (6 yrs old). I'm still new to many things and would appreciate if you guys can fill me in on the approximate total cost for the above 10 items. Thanks.

Wed morning was raining. Darklord was co-driver but unfortunately he wasn't barking "left two...." KJE to PIE was congested after Sg Tengah, so detour to Jln Lam San and then to Jln Chi Chau. Was held up initially by a slow moving long vehicle. After it turned into some secret jungle area, Let her climb to 60kph! Went through a lot of puddles and evern big "ponds" water splashed everywhere. Rumbled so fast and have to honk the dogs who were non-chalantly sitting there. Now today, I check my work of art. Dried mud water all around and in the engine bay. This is going to be a tiring weekend wash .

Hi, Can anyone advise me what will the labour cost be like if I were to swap my HU and CD changer with my friend's Sony HU and CD changer? I do notice that his CD changer got the RCA connector while my Kenwood changer doesnt come with any. Where is the RCA connect to? Many Thanks.

Optra Owners! Just did my 20,000km svc (no more free labour etc.) yesterday. Here's a brief on what it cost me. Servicing Labour Fee - $125 Replace a/c Receiver Dryer Labour - $57.75 (Ya! Just found out this has to be done every 20,000km to keep warranty on a/c system) Replace Spark Plugs x4 - $18.80 Replace Oil Filter - $4.90 Replace Air Filter - $12.50 Replace O-ring x2(dunno where for?) - 1.20 Replace Dryer Receiver - $108.24 (aft. 20% discount) Total - $328.39 Any of you find it expensive? Plus I itchy backside...paid another $51.50 (oil & labour) to change transmission ATF(syn). I travel alot ...so a bit more kiasu with the tranny la! I forgot to mention that I had brought my own Mobil 1 oil.

for a normal manual transmission car with normal driving habits, how often does the clutch needs to be changed, and how much does it cost to change it each time? If it amounts to several thousands over 10 years, then isn't it better to get auto since u only need to change auto trans fluid?

Hi, I had viewed a COEd Honda Civic and the spoiler seems to be a little exaggerating! (Certainly against LTA regulations for horizontal extrusion) Would like to find out from fellow Honda drivers, how much does a normal spoiler for Honda cost? Thanks! Ed

A breakdown of all cost for the repairs i've done on the car. Air con compressor - 900 Cooling coil - 780 Rear axle - 800 4 windows lifter - 170x4= 680 1 rear passenger locking assy. - 200 I guess all these are due to wear and tear. After a period of time, all these things start to break down.. A real hefty sum maintaining the car.
