  1. You can probably feel that Lexus is keen to shake off that monotonous image that it has been stuck with all these years, when its official promo video (below) for its new RC F Coupe has an attractive model starring in it. This sexy lady in question is none other than Lisalla Montenegro, who also happens to be a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Not that the RC F coupe isn’t hot enough. With more than 450bhp and more than 520Nm of torque from its new 5.0-litre V8 engine, it is Lexus’s most powerful V8 engine ever produced. Expect a nice soundtrack coming out of its exhaust while blasting on towards its top speed of more than 250km/h. We can’t wait for it to do battle with its rival, the upcoming BMW M4. http://dai.ly/x1cv2xb And we thought the guys would want a few more photos of Lisalla Montenegro too...
  2. Kia has shown its first rear-wheel drive sports car at the Detroit motor show. The GT4 Stinger was shown to the press as the brand’s potential rival for the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. The GT4 Stinger is a 2+2, front-engined coupe powered by a 311bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine taken from Kia’s Optima racecars. That makes it substantially more powerful than the Toyota, with its 197bhp, but like the 86, the Kia is focused on being a proper driver’s car. Hence, the 4.26-metre long coupe has been designed to weigh a mere 1315kg in production form, runs double wishbone suspension front and rear and doesn’t even have a radio. ‘The soundtrack comes from the engine and out of the exhaust,’ says the concept’s head designer. ‘Our whole approach has been to do something very simple and pure, but new looking,’ Kearns says. ‘It’s a very simple shape, so that was our thinking’. While strictly a concept, Kearns says that if it makes production, the GT4 will be cheaper than the GT-86, which starts at £25k. The GT4 would run a modified version of the Genesis platform, he suggests. ‘We’ve got to make it lighter and smaller to capture the essence of this concept, but I think it’s do-able,’ Kearns says. Most of the car is production viable, apart from the stacked LED headlights, which are too low for most country's regulations, while the viability of the see-through A-pillars hasn’t been evaluated either. Yet it’s not a pipedream or crazy concept. ‘We always imagine it [a concept] on the street,’ says Kia president, Peter Schreyer, ‘and that’s the same with this car’. The Detroit reveal was the first time Kia’s board has seen the car, according to Schreyer. ‘We have not done any feasibility on it, but my gut feeling is there’s nothing about it that’s not possible.’ It’s expected that the GT4 Stinger will be in showrooms in 2016 if it’s given the green light for production.
  3. Premiering at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar's new coupe model will go on sale in 2014, offering buyers a choice of three different levels of power. The entry-level coupe and coupe S follows the performance figures of the V6 roadster range closely, but the range-topping F-type R coupe is much different. It uses the same 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 as seen in the XKR-S and XFR-S. It will do the 0-100km/h sprint in four seconds and on to a top speed of 300km/h. The car will go on sale next March, with Jaguar putting the main focus on the R coupe, which, the company says, takes best advantage of the car’s torsional rigidity of 33,000Nm/degree - the best figure yet for a production Jaguar. With that, the car is the most rigid production Jaguar ever and to make the most out of it, the engineers increased the R coupe’s spring rates by 4.3 percent at the front and 3.7 percent at the rear as compared to those of the V8 S convertible. Jaguar is proud to emphasise its second generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD) that works with torque vectoring by braking which is first seen on the new Range Rover Sport. It is said to enhance handling and make the R coupe more exploitable on the limit in all conditions. The R coupe comes with Jaguar’s Super Performance braking system as standard, featuring 380mm front discs and 376mm rear discs. With an unsprung weight saving of 21kg, carbon-ceramic brakes can be selected as an option on the R coupe and S coupe models. "Performance" seats, which have side bolsters that inflate under heavy cornering comes standard on the R coupe too.
  4. Not letting the hype over the brilliant BRZ die down, Subaru came up with another variant of the sports coupe to let its fans stay happy. Named the BRZ Premium Sport Edition, it is supposed to be a more luxurious and refined version of the famed coupe. Sadly, not much has been done to increase the driving performance. But then, it is already such a wonderful driver’s car. What they did provide the car were black painted door mirrors and STi aluminium wheels exterior wise. Interestingly, they stuck with 17-inchers, which probably have the best grip/drift balance for the car. Interior wise, the car's seats and steering wheel are wrapped in brown and black leather with tan stitching on some details. The bright red STi push engine start button is a nice welcome too. Overall, this is a nice edition for the BRZ but we are pretty sure local buyers won’t be able to get their hands on it even though it might lure one or two buyers away from a Z4 or SLK.
  5. If you live in China (or plan to go there in the near future) and you have extra amount of money to spend, you may want to consider buying yourself a luxury coupe from German automaker BMW. Introduced for the first time back at this year's Detroit Motor Show, BMW is planning to start selling the M6 Gran Coupe in a wide range of countries, including China where the model has already made its debut. Let me remind you, to me, the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is nothing less than a very luxurious four-door coupe that will not hesitate to take you to the century sprint in only 4.2 seconds. Under its hood, the coupe packs a 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine which has the capability of delivering the power of no less than 560 horses in addition to 680Nm of torque in total. In order to sell the model in the origin country of pandas, the German automaker has teamed up with Brilliance, a local company, and they both have planned big things for the said coupe. Well, last but not least, as far as the price tag is concerned, BMW is demanding 2,390,000 yuan (around S$493,000) in exchange for a M6 Gran Coupe. Well, are you interested?

  7. Back in the Geneva Motor Show last year, British automaker, Lotus, introduced the world to its potentially fastest handmade convertible ever, the Exige S Roadster. Based on the company's new Exige S coupe, this roadster looks mostly identical to its coupe counterpart. However, the rear spoiler has been disposed of and there's now soft top roof available. Weighing no more than 1,166kg, this roadster will let you feel the wind blowing your hair at a speed of 233km/h, thanks to its supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine. Mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or the automaker's Serial Precision Shift (SPS) transmission system, the engine can provide the power of 345 horses in addition to 400Nm of torque. The Lotus Exige S Roadster will get you going to 100km/h in no longer than 3.8 seconds, from a complete standstill. And, to complete your comfort, you can choose a sporty or a comfortable enhanced plush interior. As Lotus is readying the 2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster for order, the automaker has also announced the prices of its latest roadster for 3 regions - UK, European Union, and Japan. With Japan being closer to us here in Singapore than the other two, I think we can assume that the price tag of the roadster there won

  9. In 2009, Hyundai and KIA had to recall 700,000 units of their models due to defective brake switches. Unfortunately, not learning from their experiences, these South Korean automakers repeat their mistake and this time, it's even worse. They now have to recall a total of 1.6 million units of cars they have produced due to the exact same problem. The brake switch defect may prevent the brake lamps from illuminating even when the brake pedal is actually stepped on. Of course, this is a big deal as it may trigger rear-end collisions. In addition to that, the defect may fail to cancel the cruise control feature while braking, prevent the push-button starter from functioning, and may even block the gear shift in the neutral position. Both KIA and Hyundai will start contacting dealers and customers of the affected models in June 2013 and will provide necessary replacements free of charge. The list of the affected models is as follows: - 2007 KIA Sedona - 2007-2009 Hyundai Tucson - 2008-2009 Hyundai Veracruz - 2007-2010 KIA Rondo - 2007-2010 KIA Sportage - 2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra - 2007-2011 KIA Sorento - 2007-2011 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2010-2011 KIA Soul - 2010-2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - 2011 Hyundai Sonata - 2011 KIA Optima
  10. [extract] The term four door coupe has been recently used to describe luxury sedans with a coupe-like dimension. Typically, they have a low roof design which reduces towards the rear part of the car. Some examples are the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Audi A7 and the Volkswagen CC. These models are normally seen as high-end range cars but a small Russian company has unveiled a model touted as the world
  11. The upcoming Alfa Romeo 4C has been captured when undergoing testing in Italy. Lightly camouflaged, the production 4C remains true to the lines of the stunning concept that stole the show at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Compared to the concept, the road-going version has a re-designed hood, bigger mirrors and restyled headlights. It also appears to have wider front and rear windscreens which should improve visibility. The coupe is observed to be sitting very close to the ground. The Alfa Romeo 4C is expected to be powered by the 1750 TBI engine that develops over 200 bhp. Paired to a dual-clutch transmission, the lightweight coupe could go from 0 to 100km/h in less than 5 seconds before achieving a top speed of approximately 250km/h. The 4C is expected to debut at either the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March or the Pebble Beach Concours d

  14. The 2014 Mercedes S-Class will be offered in three body styles which will underpin five models. The three body styles will have varying wheelbase length. The new line-up will include a new coupe model intended to go head to head with the Bentley Continental GT while the cabriolet version is being targeted at Continental GTC. According to a source from Autocar, "the front is a lot more aggressive and there's added structure to the flanks with a prominent drop line, a more rounded turret line and the rear overhang is significantly shorter". The standard and long-wheelbase versions of the new S-class will be revealed to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year. The Pullman, which stretches over 5.7m, is expected to make its debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. The Pullman is likely to replace the Maybach 57 uber-luxury saloon, which will compete against the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Continental Flying Spur. The all-new S-Class will be equipped with a host of safety features such as rear seatbelt airbags, Active Parking Assist, Attention Assist and Distronic Plus. Photo Credit: worldcarfans.com
  15. Not long ago, Japanese automakers either cancelled or stops production of their sports coupe models, mainly due to the economic crisis and shifting interests towards something else. But with the recent release of the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ and the upcoming unveiling of the next Honda NSX, interests towards Japanese performance coupes have grown strongly. And as usual, the rumour mill began churning so called news of Mitsubishi planning to release a coupe model. Before I continue, I will add a little about Mitsubishi
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVcM04W4Qfo Lexus has released a short video clip to promote its new concept, the LF-CC, which will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show Starting the end of September. The concept shall preview an affordable mid-size coupe and styling direction that the next generation Lexus IS sedan will take. The concept is driven by Lexus Hybrid Drive consisting of an all-new 2.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine and a compact permanent magnet electric motor. This promises to set new standards in fuel economy and produce less than 100 grams of CO2/km travelled. Taking central stage at the front fascia of the LF-CC is an aggressive interpretation of Lexus

Should C&C be ashamed for importing the car with such low specs?? It is like the Scirocco.... Such a nice car but they deliberately import it with no xenon lights for OMV purposes.... Wtf...
