  1. Hi all, Recently I'm discussing with my family if we should sell the 4 years old E200. It's underutilised and we thought of cutting spending. But when I checked with some dealers, it seems like all are quoting me scrap car value. ie, COE+Parf+body price. Seems like it's not quite worthed to sell 2nd hand cars in singapore. We will make about $100K loss over the 4 years (not counting the interest we paid also ). So now, I'm really wondering if we should or should not sell the car. Even if we sell the car next year, we'll still get back the same $$ except COE rebate will fall by around 3K. Honestly, I think we don't think we'll get back much money from this deal, so it's not really that we need to liquidate this car and get cash. But more of cutting spending on something we seldom use. Basically we probably drive that car once every 3 days or so. Most of the errands are done on my trusty 323 which is much cheaper to run. Any views? Thanks.
  2. Hi, would like to seek advice the market price for a E200 Jun'04 Merce can fetch in the used market. Mileage is <10km, OMV 55K, COE 32K.

  4. hi bro-in-law getting a merc.deciding between e200 Kompressor (aka 1.8 v4 +turbo) and e240 (aka 2.6 V6). sat in the car, very shiok, unable to go back to my humble jap car. pls give yr comment: - performance - which car is more value for money (e200???) - reliability - fuel consumption have not venture in the luxury category b4. the car come almost with everything, wat else can u get from C&C? (eg. rims... those 5 spoke 16" rims?)
  5. Well, just dropped by with Super7 to check out this new E200. In essence, its a 1.8l with Kompressor, power output 163HP/5500rpm, 240Nm/3K-4K (weird). On the 1st glance, the interior looks complicated with no lack of gizmo buttons spread out throughout the dash panel. Sales guy told us that the interior and car is perfectly the same with E240 except for the engine capacity. 1st minus realized by both of us: Plastics used throughout do not reflect the luxurious heritage that Mercedes cars used to project. 2nd minus: Doors shutting do not sound like typical Mercedes quality as we felt that it was ONLY a notch above other non-continental makes. We took the AYE route as directed by the sales rep. On the way, Super7 nearly got noticed by the TP for blasting along the stretch toward Tuas... 3rd minus: On the go, the Avantgarde trimmed model does not take off with an urgency that one would expect from a car shod with Kompressor. There is a certain sluggishness starting off from zero and initially which I did not feel as I was in the back seat. However, after taking the wheel, I felt the lack of torque in hustling the huge weight of 1570kg along. Overall refinement was slightly lacking as road noise was quite pronounced. A change of tyres might remove this??? The sales person did mention that the suspension for the Avantgarde model was more sporting by nature as defined by the black bird's eye maple trim instead of burr walnut wood trim. Other visible cues include the different front bumpers with very subtle front splitters molded as part of the Avantgarde trim from the Elegance model. Stability round long sweeping curves was quite good as the car did not feel out of step with the asphalt. While sitting at the rear, I did not feel 'tossed' like a salad. After I took the wheel, the feeling was similar that the younger driver would appreciate the stiffer spring rates offered by Avantgarde. The price: $202,800 w/COE and delivery b4 CNY if you are keen* *The opinion expressed in this writeup is subjective to what we both felt.
