  2. What do you guys think? Quote from one.motoring website: LTA Vehicle modification guide Vehicle owners may modify their vehicles for many reasons. Whatever the reason may be, be it to improve the vehicle's performance or to create a distinctive or customised appearance, it is important to ensure that the modifications meet the requirements of the Land Transport Authority (LTA). LTA has a set of guidelines for vehicle modifications to ensure that standards for road safety and vehicle exhaust gas and noise emissions are not compromised, for the benefits of vehicle owners, other road users and our environment. Prospective owners of second hand vehicles are also advised to seek independent assessment to check that the modifications are legal before committing on the purchase. Assessment services are available at LTA's authorised vehicle inspection centres. In general, the common vehicle modifications can be broadly categorised as follows: Vehicle modifications that are allowed Vehicle modifications that require LTA's approval Vehicle modifications that are not allowed However, it is necessary to note that this list is not exhaustive. For further advice and clarification on specific vehicle modification, vehicle owners can write in to the Vehicle Engineering (VE) Department of LTA at 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701. Alternatively, contact the Department at 1800-CALL LTA (1800-2255 582) for further assistance on vehicle modifications." Under Vehicle modifications that require LTA's approval, we zoom into the exhaust system. "Exhaust system (e.g. exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, mufflers, etc.) The exhaust system, which consists of the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and muffler, is used as part of a vehicle's exhaust emission control system to ensure that the exhaust emission meets our environmental requirements. Any modification to the exhaust system would therefore require LTA's approval. The following should be submitted to LTA for evaluation: a) Certification from the product manufacturer stating that the proposed aftermarket exhaust system is suitable for the make and model of the vehicle. b) Certifications or test reports from independent test laboratories such as TUV, DEKRA, JVIA, VCA etc. to show that the aftermarket exhaust system when fitted to the vehicle on a per make and model basis complied with prevailing exhaust emission standards. Note: Removing catalytic converters and mufflers are not allowed as it will adversely affect the exhaust emission characteristics of the vehicle." Is it so simple???

  5. hi all. looking at alternatives to a PPS here. are there any waxes or products out there that are easy to apply after a wash? looking at some waxes that are like 'easy-on-easy-off'. just apply after a car wash...and clean off kind. i don't have strong muscles or machine..so those that require buffing are out. intend to do this fortnightly if i have time.

  7. Hi, Wondered if anyone tried the following "mod" ... 1. Remove spare tyre, jack and accessories 2. Replace with Tyre Inflater and Tyre Sealant Note: - In Singapore, for bad puncture, call tow truck. (anyway its free for those who are members of AA or STAR etc.) - Remember to put back spare tyre when travelling to Malaysia! Does the weight reduction help for better acceleration and fuel consumption? Understand that some of the new Continental models (e.g VW Golf) is doing this. (i.e. NO SPARE TYRE!) If it works, then later on I might dump my bass tube and just mount the subwoofer in the spare wheel well too!
  8. After washing my car yesterday at one of the shell hand-wash, I ran my hand across the body and found that it is quite rough I have no idea how to claybar and am worried that I might scratch my car if I do it wrongly... Any other way to prepare car before sealant/waxing ? Thx
